Just another Corpus Mexican restaurant. In my opinion, it is a hit or miss. It seems like we are satisfied but underwhelmed every time we eat here. We noticed that the quality of service has gone down some. One of the last few times we went, no one greeted us or assisted our large group to a table. It took them ages to clean it and even longer to get our drinks and place our order. I've seen them more packed before. Usually we aren't picky people and don't have high expectations, are understanding and patient, but there are some things restaurants shouldn't do, like ignore us and then never come back to our section, send out stone cold enchiladas and get upset when they literally have the grease hardened already. This is not to say their food isn't good- most of it is. But if you can find other, better establishments, maybe it's best you go there. read more

I use to come here when I lived in Corpus, now I live in Austin. Went back today with my wife because she's never eaten here and told her they have the best food. We walked in and went to take a seat because it's seat yourself establishment. The bus boy was still cleaning the table so we waited for him when we went to sit down. I mentioned to him he forgot the money on the table it was a couple bucks. He turned back around and yelled, "Leave The Money There!, That Money Stays There!!" I was kinda shocked because I wasn't trying to steal it just thought he forgot to grab it. He made a scene and everyone in the vicinity turned around to see the commotion. I told my wife let's go, we didn't stick around and left. I spoke to the manager before we left but she didn't seem to be surprised by what I said. I guess he's a hot head and does this often??? I remember this place use to be friendly and inviting. It's sad because I use to love this place but I think they lost their way service wise obviously and I cannot give them my Money if they employ rude people like that. First time eating here in corpus from Dallas and this is hands down THE BEST authentic Mexican food next to my abuelita's cooking! The tortillas are amazing! The guisada is so flavorful and melts in your mouth. It is so delicious that we got breakfast tacos, tortillas, and a guisada plate to take home. The service and staff were fast and friendly. Omg.. this is hole in the wall and the food is soooooo good! They handmade their corn tortillas and they are yummy!

You might miss it due to all the construction on staples but after that minor inconvenience you'll definitely have a great experience! Food is always hot and delicious. I've rarely had them mess up on my dine in or carry out orders. After 3 years of living near this place I still look forward to getting a taco from there on Saturdays! Awesome authentic food! I always love finding where the locals eat. This is that spot not fancy. Not for the tourist I had the chicken flouta's. (Sp?). My son the beef tacos and my wife the seafood soup. Fish, octopus and some other things. She said it was delicious. The flouta and the tacos were great. The shells were light and crispy and the guacamole and sour cream were quality! Could t give the full 5 stars because the meat was a little bland but they is probably on purpose. Maybe it's their style. But all in all a great local spot. They make their own tortillas - both flour and corn - which gives this place high marks in my book. Unfortunately, a lot of the menu is hit or miss. The ceviche is surprisingly good, though it's understandable you might be hesitant to eat (basically) raw seafood from a place as crusty as this. The cheese enchiladas are pretty good and their salsa is really great with a nice kick. For the bad: the red enchiladas are pretty awful and the rice and beans are merely passable. The place used to be one of those huge Chinese buffets so it's almost always half empty and they only turn the a/c on for the front half of the dining room. Well, we made a special trip across town to try this out based on the high yelp ratings. I can't remember what this building was before Santa Rosa (not really important) but as the Santa Rosa, it's busy every time I've driven past it. That it's always busy is usually a good sign. The restaurant is spacious, lots of tables available. Our visit was mid afternoon and there were a good number of people already there. So they stay busy. Thanks to yelp, we had high expectations. I ordered beef enchiladas and wife ordered chesse enchiladas with carne guisada. We both thought the rice tasted decent, the beans as well. The chili sauce in the enchiladas was tasty. Mine came with a crispy taco that didn't stay that crispy as the bottom soaked up grease from the meat. It tasted good, but not outstanding compared to others in town...to be honest. And once all done...wife had gastric distress. She rarely has to deal with that. So, as far as we were concerned, the food was fairly average and attainable at a few other places. Their prices were better than some others, I'll give them that, but not by that much. the wait for the food to come out was fairly long and longer than other tex-mex places we've been to. And once delivered, the wait staff never came back to check on our drinks or if we needed anything else...and my tea was already one sip away from being empty when they brought the food. And unwanted guests. The flies were discouraging. It seemed like there were two flies per table. We weren't the only one's swatting at them. I saw the insect device (that bluish light mounted on the wall) turned on, but it didn't do anything about the flies. It was an ok visit....but we won't be back based on distance to travel vs. quality of product/service delivered. read more

We were there for breakfast/lunch. I had migas, my husband ordered fajitas, but I think what he got was actually carne asada. Whatever it was, it was delicious: tender, perfectly seasoned, and lots of it. My migas were generous and tasty, with chunks of tomato, onion, and jalapeño. The corn tortillas are amazing, the queso was uninspiring but completely edible. But the beans. Those refried beans! Omg.
