Recommended to me by my deck and fence builders, Hector at Jarco, I met with Melrose and she helped me find outdoor tile and let me take home several sample tiles. I picked the Italian ceramic tile with veining. She placed the order and it was in within a weeks time. While it was on a pricey side, she did extend the contractor discount which was helpful$. Was super disappointed after leaving another local tile supplier who essentially told me my ideas were not attainable and stopped here to see if I could maybe get more help. What a difference! Literally left the other store in tears and I cannot say enough about how frustrated I was and how Mary turned it around and had me excited and smiling when I left. Who reviews a tile supply house? I have to! The bullnose tile that went with my floor tile was defective (the painter's blue tape pulled off the finish). I talked to Buddy and showed him pictures, which he sent to his supplier/manufacturer. He asked me to get a bid from my tile setter to pull the old and install the new, which I did. A few days later I got a call from my tile setter asking if he could come over the next day (which was a Sunday!) and install the new tile he had in his possession. Besides the fact that I have an awesome tile setter, Buddy really took care of me with absolute professionalism and enthusiasm. This was an amazing experience. read more

Had to update my review of SRT. I just love this place. The best people work here and they go the distance. Other tile stores the people say hi from their desks or not at all. At SRT they come out from behind the counter to say hi and see if you need help. I have a client that I brought here for back splash tile for a kitchen remodel. She fell in love with a tile. Buddy called me the next day after he checked availability and we were short on the amount needed. My client was very disappointed. While I cut most of my tile with a manual tile cutter, I had a couple of complicated cuts that needed a wet tile saw. They really helped me out to get the perfect cuts for the pieces I need. Anyone who's done a big tile project can relate- I visited Santa Rosa Tile at least 5 times over the last few months throughout the decision and purchase process. Every time I've gone in, I've received excellent help from their friendly staff. They have a good selection and the prices are good. The staff were all very knowledgable and helped (novice) me with everything from how to remove tile to hooking me up with the contact info of someone who could bullnose my countertops. Ended up settling on buying all of the decorative tile and some additional tile for the project at Santa Rosa Tile- including some gorgeous decorative tile on clearance! We have another tile project around the corner and we'll be buying all the tile at SRT. read more

I went to a tile shop in Santa Cruz and another in San Jose, both of which provided minimal service and minimal communication. I felt as if I wasn't making any probress. After looking up other store locations for the particular tile I was interested in, I found that Santa Rosa Tile Supply carried that brand of tile. I contacted them via email and the same day Dale Swafford had returned a detailed quote to me! I was very impressed with the prompt response. I asked a few more questions and again received a quick response from Dale. I placed the order and Santa Rosa Tile Supply has kept me informed about the ETA of the tile order. We will be picking up our order this weekend (driving all the way from Santa Cruz!) I very much appreciate the excellent communication and helpfulness and am more than willing to make the drive. I've used this place several times and always had a positive experience. Nicole helped me in the tile selection process (I am/was a complete rookie at ordering tile) and after explaining the process also helped me to calculate cost for each tile I was considering. When I ordered the tile, I was told that it would be a week before it came in, but luckily for me it was there in a day or so! (My only small complaint is that they don't break up boxes of tile, so your order of square footage of tile will be rounded up to the next box of tile.) Next, I called back as I needed some edge tile for our bathroom. I talked to Chris on the phone who looked up my information. It turns out that the type I ordered is unavailable in edge tile. (!!) Not a problem - Chris suggested that I use Schluter edging (never heard of it before). He went out of his was to email me pictures that he took of the various types of Schluter edging products that they carried, so I could compare and make an informed decision without visiting the store. Chris also followed up with me to let me know that he would be out the next day and handed off my info to Dale. I decided to go to the store (just to be on the safe side) to compare the Schluter edging products to the tile that I purchased from them. Dale walked me through the different types that they had and how they might look mocked up against other tile. I placed an order and left. I then called Dale to add another length of edging to my order and would pay the difference when I picked them up. When it arrived in the store, an employee graciously loaded them into my truck. I also went back there just the other day for a soap dish - if you've never thought about how challenging it is to get the exact soap dish you need from most places, trust me - it is! My last stop was Santa Rosa Tile, when it should have been my first. Long story almost over... they had a pretty good size selection, and one that was a perfect match for our new bathroom - thanks again Dale for helping me with that one too! read more

The one star is because they do have a nice showroom. But overall experience was disappointing. Was given one price when calculating what the approximate cost was. Needed to clarify one thing with the installer; when i called to place the order, found the folks unhelpful and disingenuous. The price was higher and there was game playing over it. Easier to just walkaway. Funny thing is, i then called another tile company and asked if they had this tile available and what their price was. Without asking for any sort of discount, their off the rack price was about 15% less. And they were able to deliver in two days instead of the five to ten days Santa Rosa Tile claimed they needed. I shared my experience with my installer. He in turn told me of another customer's less than stellar experience so I am so glad that I trusted my gut to go elsewhere. read more

I should have paid attention to the previous 1 star review! My wife and I finally decided we could do our long anticipated bathroom project. With most projects, we are die hard Friedman's and Lowes customers. Both stores have provided us with excellent customer service, an excellent selection and most importantly, help and follow up after the sale. I believe that AFTER you spend the money is what differentiates the winners from the losers. Santa Rosa Tile was a big loser, unfortunately at both the Ukiah and Santa Rosa locations. The manager at the Ukiah store blamed a mistake on the Santa Rosa store and the Santa Rosa store manager did not want much to do with us. The two stores did not communicate at all. First their was the Kerdi kit debacle. To make a long story short, we were sold on the Kerdi kit for about $450. We took it home and presented to the contractor. The contractor explained why he didn't like to use the Kerdi shower pan set, so we called to return it. When we called to return it, they told us it was going to be a 25% restocking fee, which at $115 to put it back on the shelf seemed ridiculous to us. Our contractor felt the same way and called the manger of the Ukiah store who initially told him, "No problem". Well to make a long story short, it took multiple calls and just too much hassle to not have to pay a restocking fee. On our original order we needed 40 square feet of mosaic tile. They advertised the tile per sq. ft in the store and we had 44 pieces ordered in to include 10% extra (which is standard). Much to our surprise the 44 pieces did not cover the 40 square feet. When I got the extra tiles I measured the tile and found that every 2 pieces were 4 1/2 inches short of 2 ft. Therefore we were 8 square feet short. The store ended up giving us an extra 2 tiles after we had bought extra tile to make up the difference and it was still short. When I pointed this out to the store they did not want to do anything about it. I tried to post a pic of the glass tile we purchased which clearly states that it is $17.95 a square foot, but couldn't get it to post. As a test I went to Lowes tile department and picked out an almost identical tile. I found a salesperson and asked if a particular tile was priced per square foot. The salesperson clearly told me that the tiles were a bit shy of a square foot, but they would provide the measurements to make up the difference.... That's what I am talking about, the way it should have been! Make sure you are actually getting what you are paying for - they will blame others, you and your contractor, but it was their mistake! It cost us 2 extra weeks without a bathroom because the tile had to be ordered and we live on the coast. We made 2 extra trips - 100 miles round trip - to get the tile. They would not even ship it to us! We ended up buying the floor tile at Friedmans and they let us return any extra we did not use. Read the other one star review. They will not return most things and charge you a 25% restocking fee if you do return anything. We spent $1500.00 and only went to the little store because we thought they would be more helpful. Trust me on this, unless you absolutely must have a tile which they carry at Santa Rosa tile, go elsewhere! Home Depot, Friedman, Lowes will all to continue to have my business. In my book, customer service rules....Plain and simple. read more

Called looking for a Red Oak Wood Like Porcelain Tile. I had seen their website in my search. I have a standard red oak stair railing in my living room that I'm trying to match as close as I can.....and want to do my whole house in porcelain tile. I spoke to a man who immediately cut me off. He said I would have to go around to all the tile stores to find it. When I tried to discuss with him that I was looking for a basic red oak. I have a sample of what I'm looking for, which he wouldn't let me get out. Once again he cut me off saying that their are 1000 of colors and giving me no opportunity to speak. Given finally a chance to speak, I then told him it was obvious he didn't want to sell any tile. Then I hung up. If they treat all their potential customers this way, I'm not sure why they are in business. read more

A very wonderful experience from a lady named Melrose like the BLVD. I came in hoping to speak to a tile setter as i was looking to do a repair on a family heirloom, a tile planter made by my great uncle. I needed to replace a couple small tiles for the footing. I soon leaned that they were a tile supply store only there were no tile setters working there. A beautiful and well stocked store by the way. However this very kind woman said she had been a tile setter and said to give her a minute, She went and cut a scrap sample piece into the exact pieces I needed and told me how to affix them properly. I was thrilled and would have paid her anything she wanted. She just said "Merry Christmas". I was not expecting that and I did offer again and she said she was happy to make me happy. I do live close by that is why I stopped in, I have got to tell you in today's world that is the kind of hometown neighbor you want to have. They sure have a caring attitude here if that's important to you think of starting out here. read more
