Decided to try this park for a short hike with the kiddos since our ventura park had burned. You have to drive a bit to get here and there's definitely not enough parking but very nice to visit. There are different trails to take we just stayed in the main trail to try it out. The boys loved seeing horses shared the trail with us. Bikes also share the trail. No bathrooms so go at home before you come. There are a couple picnic tables off the main path. It can get pretty warm at midday, so we decided to go early morning. Overall it was pretty peaceful and not overcrowded. Pretty easy trail.

    Entry bridge to trail.

Beautiful trail in Camarillo. Set off Santa Rosa road. I was lucky enough to visit it right after the heavy rains of 2017. Everything was lush green. The creek that flows along part of the trail was full and flowing strong. The hike is not difficult at all but long enough to feel the burn. During the summer I'm told one has to be careful due to the rattle snakes. There are some tables along the path as well in case you want picnic or just sit and take in the view. Lovely hiking place I'm sure I will visit often.

Beautiful scenery. It is an easy walk. there are picnic tables under shaded oak trees. It's a wonderful getaway and into nature.

The best part is the Drill and Play is with Coach Meredith. She's a truly excellent coach. It's a small session, limited to 12 players. You have to sign up through the AGAPE website. These Drill and Play sessions are set up so higher skilled players play one week, lower skilled players the next. The first hour every session is spent practicing a specific skill. Coach Meredith is a gifted teacher. She always breaks down the skill into bite sized chunks so it's easier to master. Like, for example, first practicing just the footwork itself, no ball or paddle. Then adding them on one at a time. After allowing adequate time to individually practice whatever skill is being taught, we play games the rest of the first hour without keeping score. Not worrying about the score gives one the opportunity to practice skills not yet fully mastered. The second hour is regular play. Coach Meredith circulates continuously, pumping everyone up with her positive energy and emphatic vocal encouragement, all the while providing further insight and/or instruction where necessary. This is a really beautiful park and wonderful place to play pickleball. Someone mentioned that the courts were recently resurfaced. Nice! Mikey C says: did I mention the adequate parking? Pitts Ranch Park has it!
