THIS PLACE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! My husband and I bought a Christmas tree here for the first time on Friday for $172 for a 7/8 ft tree not including the $10 tip we gave the guy who helped us (Austin). His only job was to put the tree stand on the tree securely and tie it to the roof of our car. Well, just 2 days later on Sunday at 3:30am we hear a huge bang and glass shatter (super loud and scary - we thought someone broke into our house). When we came out of our bedroom, we saw the Christmas Tree had completely fallen over and broke half of our ornaments. Ornaments that my husband and I have collected over the years to places we traveled to and even new ones we bought this year. Just utter shock. We will never get those memories back. When I called the owner this morning - Bryan, he honestly couldn't care less. He told me it was a problem with our tree stand (which we purchased from Toby's Christmas Tree lot in Walnut Creek and have used for 3 years with zero issues) and that there is nothing he could do for us unless we brought the tree back for a refund. When my husband came home today, he saw that they did not place the tree stand on correctly and that is why it fell over. Bryan doesn't care about his customers or their experience. He told me they put the tree stand on as a courtesy (every tree lot does includes this service). He took zero accountability, had zero empathy, nor apologized or tried to even make it right. Clearly, he needs the money. I will NEVER buy a Christmas Tree from here ever again and do not recommend this place. Great holiday spirit Bryan! Merry Christmas! read more

Absolutely love the Nordmann Fir we got. This place is a little far for us but it is worth the drive when you can get such a fresh tree, good price and the awesome atmosphere they ALL have! This is the best tree that we have gotten in years and for a reasonable price. They surely are honest with what they say as we trusted them about the tree when we took it home all wrapped without even having made sure there wasn't any bare spot. This is what I call trustworthy business that will definitely get my business from now on and I highly recommend anyone who is looking for some great trees for this season. You can see how beautiful the tree is and I'm letting it air outside before bringing it in just so to get some air flow for the tree. This place is amazing. If I could load a video you would understand it. They have soooooo many trees, from Douglas, Grand, Noble, Nordmann, etc. every single one of them is clean, green and healthy. Other places you go, they are dry or comes with lots of dirt and mud; NOT this place. If you get a chance, ask for Red, he's awesome! Gave me a tour of the lot, which by the way they created a type of Forest with the trees for you to walk through; very creative. Have you ever smelled a Christmas Tree? Of course you have!!! Well that's what I thought until I met Red. He took a little of each tree, one at a time for me to get the real scent of it all. Let me tell you, they really do produce different smells...one smelled like Cotton Candy, another had a bit of a Spicy kick to it, the next was like smelling Peppermint oil from a diffuser, and so on. I never knew each tree had such a distinct scent, very much appreciated to have learned this. I took my time walking the lot because there were so many to choose from and all were so beautiful. Their prices start around $60 and go up, depending on the type of tree and the height. If anyone complains about their prices, they are absolutely INSANE! The prices of their trees are sooooo CHEAP for the QUALITY you're receiving. I'm telling you, you will NOT find another lot that has the best quality trees in town. They got Silvertip's you could probably keep until next summer if you wanted to leave your tree up that long. So, if you want to get your money's worth, and a full, healthy, clean Christmas Tree, do not go anywhere else. This is the place to get it. Ask for Eric to do your tie-down, great guy! The customer service was fantastic. Very helpful. Our tree was beautiful! But it didn't last long we bought it one day after thanksgiving. They cut bottom off the tree I bought tree fresh and made sure put it in water. I waited two days it did not drink any water. So I took it back outside and cut more off the bottom. Drink very little water. No heat on the house. And put led lights on. No heat. I noticed it didn't smell like pine. But now it's almost deadI feel sad we don't have much money we get a tree instead. Conveniently located in the Sun Valley Mall parking lot, near Sears this home grown Christmas tree lot is great. Farm fresh trees from Oregon. The lot is large, under the tents are the flocked beauties. We chose the Saturday before Christmas to pick out our little gem and the lot was winding down. Friendly fellow came up to greet us, told us not to be concerned with the prices, trees were negotiable. Most of what is left are the 4-5 footers, although there were some 9's hanging around. Nice young gal helped us choose the right shape and discounted our little one by 20%. Nice young lad carried it to the car. See you next year! read more

First time at Santa's Surplus Trees and it did NOT disappoint!! We were greeted by Red, the head guy and he was so friendly, full of Christmas spirit, and very helpful! The trees here are absolutely gorgeous! They have a great variety and they are so fresh! They have gorgeous flocked trees as well and the prices are seriously better than most tree farms! I will never go to another place again. Usually tree shopping is tough because my husband and I are picky, but these trees are so full and perfectly shaped that we had no trouble at all! One of the guys trimmed the bottom to ensure that it fit in our tree stand, and he also packed it on the top of our car and wrapped it nice for our ride home! We got a tree here last year that lasted the whole month of December!! We had to go back this year to get another one from this lot because of the quality of their trees. You can get a healthy, full tree for about 139 bucks, which is a great deal considering how long it will last!! Tom, the owner is super warm and welcoming!! All of the employees that work there are also nice, efficient, and have great attitudes! We always tip the guy who puts the tree on our car twenty bucks, it's not much, but it's a small token of appreciation. read more

Upon arrival, everyone is very nice and welcoming. The tree selection was fine and prices are expected (expensive!). But looking closer, not every worker there was wearing a mask, even though there's a clear sign in the front that everyone must have a mask upon entering. While choosing our tree, a man was talking condescendingly to a family about the price of the tree, acting as though there's an obvious sign for how they price their trees (there is not). And the final reason for the one star is the statement made freely and openly to my husband about "stacking protesters like firewood". Obviously these people don't realize they're in the Bay Area where many don't consider protesting a terrible thing. In addition, there was another conversation where the workers were freely talking sh*t about Concord, something about civil unrest and socialism. I'm all for having your own opinion but in the place of one's business, this kind of experience is not acceptable to me. These reasons are enough for me to share with anyone who cares to support a business with morals. Unfortunately, they had our money by the time all these realizations were made. I love the idea of supporting a family business or a business worth my money. But next year I'll be sure to take my money to supporting a local tree lot and not one from Oregon. read more

I just can't describe how wonderful this experience of finding a Christmas tree was at Santa's Surplus! I had researched their website and facebook pages which gave me a clear picture of this terrific family owned business. The people I met are AMAZING! Their trees are the BEST! Direct from their own Oregon farm. I met Red, Tom and Mrs. Tom (didn't catch her name), Aaron and Josh... customer service of the old fashioned kind where you actually know they want you to be happy. Aaron helped me pick out the perfect tree which was still baled in string! I totally trusted him! He effortlessly loaded it into my little Honda Accord. When I opened it at home I was blown away. TREE PERFECTION, beautiful smell (grand fir), so fresh and green!! It actually drank the water in the tree stand which our trees from other vendors have not done for years (because other vendors are selling older trees). Folks, hurry on over to buy your best Christmas tree ever from these kind people who truly are Santa's helpers. They work long days rain or shine doing this heavy work so all of us can have a Merry Christmas. Genuine care for customers and a smile on every face. I even got some hugs! First time here this year. Everyone was very friendly and i loved their trees. Opted to get a flocked tree this year. We had a couple trees we liked that were already flocked but found a tree we loved that wasn't. We paided the extra money to have it flocked and would pick it up the next night. Now this is the only reason why i didn't give them 5 stars. If i compare the pre flocked trees to mine, i feel like mine didn't get enough attention i guess you can say. One side is definitely more flocked then the other, one part has barely any on the bottom. The side that has more has weighed down the branches some i think because the tree didn't have spacing like that before. I was talked into getting the $3 bag for the tree but i was told it would be bagged up for pick up so i didn't understand why i had to buy another bag. I'll reuse the bag it came in and keep the $3 bag for some other project. Overall, id go back because they were so friendly but i know what to do different now if looking for a flocked tree. read more

This tree farm is such a gem in the Sunvalley Mall shopping center. The trees were good looking, healthy, and the selection was awesome. My friend and I were there with our kids and even the kids had a blast. The staff there made all the kids feel like special and welcome parts of the experience, rather than inconvenient sources of hyperactivity. We left with the perfect little tree, several cute pictures, and a candy cane for each of us. Even with 8 kids with me in the rain, I still had a nice time. And that's sayin' something! :) read more

The phone number listed here is apparently a personal number they refuse to answer or even return calls on. They don't know how or why it is in there and have no plans to fix it from what I could tell. When I brought up that I ahem been calling all week because I had to travel from oakland, the woman at the checkout area just said "That's a personal number, I dont know how that got on the website but we are here and can answer your questions now". The woman came off as very cold and when I asked about the Charlie brown tree they do every year she said they already sold it this year. That's ok, but it sucks for me because I have been trying to buy this damn thing tree for 2 years and when I expressed disappointment and asked if they were doing it again she said no in a super curt tone. They also had barely any trees in the lot, maybe a quarter full. They had a lot more the previous years. Maybe they are waiting for fresh ones, idk, but they really didn't impress me this year with the lack of trees, proper phone numbers, and general sense of cheer when speaking to people. The tree is gorgeous. The man is racist. He asked a womans son if his mother was a jew or a gypsy. They were trying to pick up a tree that was previously paid for ($200!), and left for flocking, but he was trying to say they already picked it up. She hadn't, and had the receipt. He gave her such a hard time including physically stepping up close to her while having a visible Bowie knife on his side. The police should have been called in but she just wanted her tree and leave. He finally gave her a tree but come to find out her tree, that her daughter picked out the day prior, was given to someone else. He then yelled out, "we are giving away a tree" instead of apologizing he chose to be a supreme dick. absolutely ruined any holiday spirit, and on Thanksgiving day. NOT okay. I've been buying Christmas trees for over 30 years and this is the best Christmas tree lot I have ever been to. There is a bigger selection of types of trees here than I have ever seen. The Nordmann fir is a gorgeous tree type. The men working here were terrific, one in particular, Robert, was extremely helpful. He made my experience buying a tree a real pleasure, in fact he made my day. Although, I live in Berkeley, I will be coming to this Christmas tree lot every Christmas from now on.
