These fine stewards of the "I don't give a sh!t about customer service" foundation were just rude enough that I jumped back in my car and left after discussing potentially getting my smog check completed there. My car had an issue with some data needing to be generated for the smog machine to be able to complete a test. Without the data [generated by driving around at particular speeds for different amounts of time] the test would run but would not give me a certificate, and it was only possible to find that out after running the test. OR, these guys could hook up the computer FIRST and see if the data was there... they wouldn't do it. So I took my money elsewhere, and I hope others will, too. read more

After 45 minutes and seeing the guy on the phone with the dealership parts department, they could not pass my 2014 truck because he could not find the DOC. I gave them my credit card but did not want to sign it. The lady behind the counter went all psycho on me and threaten to call the sheriff and told me she didn't have time to put up with my shit if I dispute the charges. Lol. I went this morning after finding out they don't do appointments, but was told they normally take about 10-15 minutes, so even if there were other cars, it wouldn't take too long. As soon as I arrived, I felt very welcomed. Got everything taken care of right away, and was told they send the certificate to the dmv electronically, so I can just go get my new stickers now. I took my truck there two years ago and had a great experience. This year, however, was a much different story! They told me my truck was missing the EGR valve (however, after 3 previous successful smogs, this was hard to believe) They charged me $61 then told me if I get it fixed and come back, the charge would only be $35! After my boyfriend and I did some research, and called our mechanic, we found a number of resources that proved the tech wrong so when we came back to plead my case, he was BEYOND rude! He went as far as accusing us of cheating the system and many other choice insults. Within 60 seconds he was yelling at me! So, I went to the B.A.R (the state department that oversees the smog process) and they put me in contact with a local "referee" that had the resources to confirm that my truck DID NOT require the valve. He said this was not the first time someone has contacted him about that shop and suggested that I follow through with a formal complaint to get my money back in the event that they are not willing to complete the smog at no charge. Please choose another shop! This tech doesn't know what he's doing (he can't be more than 30 years old!) - all they want is your money, he is not at all interested in providing any service to you! read more

I have gone to this place for years (4 smogs) because it was a good price and hardly ever very busy. It was like a hidden gem, even though it sits at a busy intersection. It's now under new ownership, which is good and bad. The new owners did raise the price a little bit, but they are much more friendly than the previous owner. So, I felt like their personalities made up for the small price hike. I was wanting to get a smog service done yesterday, but there were literally 6 cars sitting in the lot, so, I decided I would go this morning instead and beat the crowd! However, when I went there today - even though their "Hours of Operation" sign says 8 am to 5 pm on Tuesdays - there is "nobody home" at 10:20 am! So, I guess someone else gets my business today...! I'm in the process of buying my brother's 94' Buick Le Sabre, and unexpectedly found out the smog check had to be done this year in order to finally get the new tags (registration was paid back in September, and due to the vehicle not being under my name or address as of yet all information regarding this issue has been sent to Orange County and is being relayed to me via word of mouth.... You know how reliable that could be at times especially when it's not directly effecting the people receiving said info. Meanwhile, I've gotten a parking citation for bad tags parked on the street and then when moving the car, and parking INSIDE the apartment complex, I then receive a warning citation for bad tags from the security patrol that patrols the complex at night stating the next time I park INSIDE the complex the vehicle would be towed for bad tags!) Needless to say as soon as I got word the registration was pending the smog test I got on that ASAP. I chose to come here honestly because it was literally less than a mile away and when I had called for a quote on the price the dude who answered was professional and got to the point ( gave me the straight up out the door price $60 , and did point out it was more expensive given my vehicle was older than 1995 and would require additional tests ) I remember getting the same vehicle smogged in Orange County for my brother a couple years back and remember paying $72 I think it was so I didn't even bother attempting to find a better price. I went first thing this morning to avoid waiting ( they seemed packed the day before around 1pm when I first thought of going ) and they were very welcoming. I was offered coffee or tea while I waited and they even had a bowl of jolly ranchers which was cool. They explained to me it would still cost me $51 if it were to fail ( probably the only downside if you were unlucky enough to have that happen ) and then got to it. The guy was pretty cool in that he pointed out a couple of things to look out for that could be easily fixed by yourself to help insure a successful future smog test. The actual smog test was pretty fast as well. My vehicle passed and I was on my way. In summary, I took a gamble coming here when I needed it most and was not disappointed. If I happen to be in or around Santee for future testing I would definitely be a repeat customer. read more

Needed to get a smog check so the first place that came to mind was this place. I had been here before about 6 years ago and had no problems so why not go back again. It appears the facility is owned by new owners since the last time I was here; no problem. The people were very nice and the price of the test was actually lower than what i was expecting to pay. The test only took about 15 minutes and after the staff explained the results to me and provided recommendations. I was pleased with the experience and will be back again in 2 years. Horrible customer service or should I say No customer service at all. I got my SMOG check here and they were the last person to touch my car. Ever since I left that SMOG shop, my tire pressure came on right after I left and now my check engine light comes on. So I went to speak to the guy who did the SMOG check. He says that my car passed the SMOG check so he says, "it isn't my problem, it's your car's problem!" I was about to leave since he wasn't willing to re check my car, but then he told me to pull my car into the shop so I did. But he continued telling me that it wasn't his problem because it passed SMOG check. Then why the hell did he tell me to pull my car in the shop if he was just going to say that it wasn't his problem and do nothing about it. Horrible, Horrible. read more

I have been to this location before, however, this year it is run by new folks. I was greeted warmly and the wait time was explained. I was offered coffee/tea and got comfortable in their little customer room. I was able to watch several other customer interactions while I was waiting my turn. All the employees were extremely polite and explained to customers either that their cars passed or did not. To my mind they were knowledgeable about their business and what needed to be done. The wait time was spot on accurate and I will continue taking my 3 vehicles there when it's time for them to be smogged. I was impressed with the politeness and the professionalism. read more

I took my 92 Jeep there yesterday, it was at 5 o'clock so i was grateful he took it in. He got my truck in and the main test done in 20mins.....then he pulled it out on the side the started to mess with the engine. I used to work at a repair shop so I know my vehicles. He decided to RIP OFF THE VACUUM LINE WITH NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS!!!!! It went from the gas tank in metal to a rubber hose that connected to EVAP Canister. Since he disconnected it and ripped it, it was then too short to reconnect, THEN DENIED EVER TAKING IT OFF!!!!!! I couldn't believe it he failed me because of a $2 dollar vacuum hose that HE RIPPED!!!!, now I'm out $50 with no free retest and i still have to go get my truck smogged....DO NOT GO THERE! read more

I was referred to this place by some people outside of Santee who have been going for years, so I thought Id give it a shot and was very pleased, especially compared to most smog shops I've been to. The old Asian man has been there for about 10 years and the younger workers explained a lot about the cars, the rules, and gave me some nice tips on my car. I know nothing about cars but the young guy there gave me the "laymans terms" explanation and I felt like I left with some understanding of the basics which I wish repair places would do. Its obvious that the people complaining here are people who failed due to their own fault and are simply unhappy but what do you expect? Just make sure to bring your car when it is good and ready and fix stuff BEFORE getting it tested. And drive it long enough for the car to set the monitors after a repair or after tinkering with your car. That's one of the things I learned. This is the first and only one that seems to be the "go to" place for every smog from here on out. read more
