Ordered two steak burritos with cheese, green chili, pico, and guac -- $30 for both -- and honestly, I wish I hadn't. The meat was bland to the point of having a weird, almost cat‑food taste. The only thing that had any flavor at all was the guacamole. On top of that, the burritos were tiny, more like oversized taquitos than actual burritos. Came here off friends recommendation who used to live in the area. She told me exactly what I am going to tell you now. Order the smothered green chili burrito half and half (little spicy). Doesn't really matter what you get inside, we tried eggs and sausage and shredded beef on another trip later in the week. Both were awesome! We also had a chili relleno on our 2nd trip and that was great as well. Server was totally slammed at this location at about 10:00 am on a week day but man she was killing it! Taking care of what I could see was about the whole restaurant all at once. Service was quick and easy and everything tasted great. Would eat here all the time if I lived in the area! You should def check it out if you are around, they have multiple locations thru out Denver. This place has always been so delicious. They having gotten our order wrong. My family and I have been coming for years. The staff is very friendly and are on top of it even when they are slammed which is everyday lol. Santiagos always has the breakfast burritos fresh, hot and ready. I love that they have the chocolates for $1.00 by the register. They do have enough parking which is great. The only thing I would ask is why don't they open up the side dining area when they are full ?? I have walked in and had to wait for seating to dine in. I went in tonight and go my usual cheese enchiladas and been and beef burrito and the bill came to almost $20. Twice what it used to cost. I used to come for the green chili (10+ yrs) but now am enjoying the dinner theatre. Yes, the green chili is great, yes the beef and bean sopapilla is great, yes, I guess the sisters that run the place are pretty great. I ordered 4 tacos with extra cheese and onion in paid $.55 extra for cheese on each item in got a pinch of cheese and a pile of lettuce on top of the shells the onion was thrown on top after the counter girl asked the cook if he added onion. Was preparing for a 5 star review. This place is generally on top of their game. Tonight was very slow for them from what I could tell. Normally I get burritos but tonight I tried their pork chop dinner as it's one of their specialty marked items. It was suppose to come with green chili which I ordered hot and there is absolutely not a drop of green chili in this dish. The pork chops are bone in and not trimmed of the fat. Yes it was still tasty but could have been better if made it like should have been. Won't order this dish again will go back to my normal order. I got two breakfast burritos(not the special) with just potatoes cheese and Chile, and one with bacon. The bacon wasn't cut up and they were cold. The food was very tasty and the staff great. The only reason they are not getting more stars is they do not have a bar (no margaritas or beer). I was a little thrown off that they did not offer queso either. I have not encountered green chili before and immediately fell in love with it. First things first, and correct me if I'm wrong, locals: This place is not quite located on #215 Main Street, or if it is, any sense of numbering goes out the door when you cruise down Main and see clusters of strip malls and think "oh, fuck, what now" as the GPS system in your rental car keeps repeating that you have reached your destination. This brings me to why I was in the town of Longmont in the first place; a coworker of mine found out I was maid-of-honoring my best friend's wedding in Denver and revealed that he was from the state of Colorado. This turned into a session about how to best get to Rocky Mountain National Park straight from the airport. He remarked that I'd go through his hometown, so I asked where I could fuel up on food for a good, long hike. This was the place. The family friendly restaurant with ample indoor and outdoor seating really reminded me a lot of Frank's in San Luis Obispo, except that it was larger and had nicer decor. Knowing I wanted to get stuff to go, too, I stepped up to bat and then stared at the menu, which was deceptively simple but actually contained more options than I knew what to do with. The cashier, who also struck me as kind of the manager of the whole place, began to help me. What he actually did was entice me with ideas of "smothered" dishes (burritos or anything else covered in a signature mix of lettuce, tomatoes, sauce, and cheese) and explain what a sopapilla was - either a fried dessert with a whole lot of carbs and syrupy sugar or a fried tortilla packed with whatever savory combo you want inside. On top of all this, I knew that I had to try the green chile soup, since my coworker had raved about it. And, I was to discover that green chile is a huge thing in Denver and surrounding areas. it's like the lox of Manhattan - bursting out of every sandwich and bagel and infusing even beers (and NYC can't even say it has smoked salmon beer yet). What ended up happening was that I ordered a chicken burrito with rice, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole, then a carnitas burrito with beans, lettuce, tomato, onions, and guacamole to go. Oh, and a $1.50 tamale as an afterthought. To stay, I got a small horchata (but was kindly served a huge big gulp plastic glass of the stuff) with a small bowl of green chile (but was served a huge ass bowl of it) and a SMOTHERED, STUFFED sopapilla crammed with beef. The man behind the counter was a bit bewildered at this point. "A sopapilla is BIG, by the way. That's a LOT of food. Are you sure?" "Oh yeah, I eat a lot, and I'm gonna hike for like 7 hours," I said. I paid $24 or so (and this was including a 20% tip for which he was actually grateful and surprised). Went outside, sat down. Too bright and a little chilly, so went inside, where the server managed to find me in a few minutes to start bringing me my obscene order. The man wasn't joking - the stuffed sopapilla was large enough to feed a family of eight (some combination of adults and children). Not exaggerating. I attacked it with much gusto, splicing the experience with long-burning spoonfuls of extra hot green chile soup. To put out the fire on my tongue, I quaffed from the endless cup of horchata, then chewed up all the ice. The man periodically checked on me with a knowing/concerned look in his eyes, and helped me save face when I asked to pack the leftovers, which still looked like multiple meals in and of themselves even after I'd pushed it to the limit. In the bathroom, I threw some cold water on my face, then went back to the table to find my takeout ready. I didn't eat for the rest of the night, not even after a seven hour hike at altitude in the Rockies. The next day, I ate the tamale and burritos, then picked at the sopapilla the day after that. Still good. If I were from here, I'd look forward to going home to Santiago's, too. Coming from New York, which is especially cursed with a dearth of good Mexican food (don't you deny it), this was a huge surprise. It was especially great to have the wet, saucy, drippy, amorphous, big-plate types of Mexican specials that often take back seat to tidy little tacos and new age fajitas of the East Coast. If you're on your way to Estes or Rocky Mountain Nt'l parks from points East of here, you'd be a fool not to stop here. Just pay heed when anyone warns you about the portions...unless you do intend on buying enough food to feed two or more for an entire week. With all the good Mexican Restaurants in town, this one needs to step it up. I was shocked to see how filthy the floor was, the entire place needs a make over. I was disappointed with the food and almost walked out before I ordered because of the general appearance.
