Hard pass... My wife and I were thinking the same thing when I finally said it, this was a mirror step above Casa Bonita. In the old days that is. I was hoping for so much better, the food came at just above room temperature, my margarita came about five minutes later. The server forgot our chips and salsa, never checked on anything, the music was hideous... The best thing was the view. The rooftop was nice, but that didn't make up for what would be ordinarily Taco Bell on my tailgate. Got ranchero fajitas and al pastor fajitas, which were acceptable. Nothing terribly amazing. Ambiance is relaxed. It was pretty busy, but food still came out quickly. Service was fine. Waiter wasn't too helpful with recommendations and answered a totally different question. It would have been okay if she had just said she didn't have any experience with trying the food there. I probably won't return, as the food wasn't anything remarkable, but I would recommend this place as worth trying once. read more

The La Mariposa's atmosphere is great and the outside patio is well maintained with the blooming trees. They have a huge variety of margaritas with fruit fusion. The hibiscus flavored tea was outstanding even with the trees shedding the flowers and landing in the tea was a nice Mother Nature touch. The carnitas plate was very tender and flavorful and just the right amount. The Baja fish (3) were just the right size portion. A little overcooked for my liking but they were flavorful. They need a grilled option for these fish tacos in my opinion . We also had the street corn. They were also flavorful. The service was great. We will be back towards the summer or fall season at night so we can sit on the roof. read more

Literally such a delicious place to eat. I've been three times and have loved everything I've ordered. The same goes with everyone I've gone with. The chicken taquitos are especially delicious, alongside the chips and salsa. The decor is also very cute and gives a nice vibe to the entire establishment. I did visit the rooftop once and I'm sad about how limited the menu is, but it's still great, with a beautiful view. Service is great, and the food comes out pretty quickly! Debated on 2 or 3 stars but came to the 2 star conclusion based on the fact that we would not return. We sat at the bar, and we're greeted fairly quickly, but that was about as far as the quicker went. We put a drink order in, just about all margaritas are full of mix, fake ingredients, and do not taste fresh. In a town where Mexican restaurants are prominent there are many better margaritas around. We couldn't even finish the frozen strawberry margarita because it did not taste good. We ordered the chips and queso, both were just OK. Both of us got fajitas, nothing I would get again. There were two bartenders who were working very hard to keep the drinks consistent , however, one bartender was wearing gloves when he was handling garnishes and the other was just using her hands without washing them prior. The other bartender was very attentive and though he was not our server he helped us out several times. We waited a while to order our meal and to order our second drink. It's a very pretty restaurant inside, but definitely not worth the price for the food you get. There are so many great options in Longmont I would not recommend this to anyone looking for Mexican food. read more

Your manager has no customer service experience and treats people bad while she smerks at them This lady walked in and said she had a reservation and I recognized her as a Longmont City Councilwomen and as she was in crutches from surgery the manager said they couldn't have the table and they had to move them to a smaller table because they were only 3.She said the others hadn't arrived and she said they had to move and when the women asked to speak to a manager she said I am the manager with a hateful grin on her face and didn't care what the problem was she had gotten called in on her day off and she wasn't going to budge from her decision so this woman on crutches wobbled her way out and left .The table she was given was where she couldn't Evan see the soccer game.She had tears in her eyes and that worker if yours should be fired.She needs to recognize our City Workers and have respect and not change tables just because her family is friends walk in and demand a table. I have been to this place 3 times, and each time I left feeling satisfied and full with good food. The first time I tried this place, I ordered a breakfast burrito that did NOT disappoint!!! it was so delicious. Smothered in green verde sauce, with fresh eggs and corn and potato inside - it was so delicious. I still crave it and need to get back soon to order again. The next time we went, we tried out their weekend buffet. Though a bit pricey, its a buffet with endless amounts of food to fill up on. I enjoyed all the items they offered and they really have some great foods for kids too. This felt more like a special occasion food due to the price, but we would go again some day. The last time I came here was for lunch with my husband and we had a great meal. He loved the flavors in his enchilada and I enjoyed my tacos a lot. They have the most friendly staff, the ambiance is just totally lovely and the interior decor is so nice. I think this place is very underrated as a spot to gather at with friends and enjoy some foods that are filling and decent. Are the flavors off the charts? not especially..... Will you remember the meal itself?? maybe?? But you will remember a warm cozy time and a happy belly. Yesterday, Sunday, May 6th, my family and I went to this restaurant to eat. While the food was actually quite good, the way I was treated was disrespectful. I had a pair of sunglasses with me--I've owned them for 11 years--and I accidentally left them on the table after we finished eating. When I got to my car, I realized I didn't have them and went back to get them, but they wouldn't return them to me; they claimed there was nothing there and that the glasses weren't to be found. Literally, only two minutes had passed between the time I left and the time I returned. It's awful to think that something you've taken care of for 11 years can be lost in just two minutes. If you ever leave something behind there, keep in mind that you won't get it back. read more

Decided to order some takeout for lunch today. After reviewing the food as it was delivered. I noticed that my combo meats only had one protein just the chicken missing the Carnita. I also ordered a side of salsa and chips. They gave me two of the smallest containers of salsa. I also ordered a side of queso, which was also in that small container. This place has upped their game with the reopening! We had given up on them at the old location, but we decided to try again with the reopening, and we were glad we did. The place was packed but the servers were still very friendly and attentive. I had a taco plate with carnitas, a grilled cojita taco, and a birria taco. They were all good, but next time I'd go with all birria; it was amazing. I also really like the addition of citrus to the beans on the side. We had the Mexican corn appetizer and queso appetizer and both were tasty. The restaurant has a great design and is much bigger, and a lot of fun. read more

I guess it's just a sign of the times, but to pay $78 for two of us for this sort of food is nuts. We had two "pineapple margaritas" that were basically short glasses of pineapple juice and maybe a trace of tequila, and two orders of basic fajitas that were small portions, guacamole and sour cream in tiny ramekins, meat in little bits, etc. Quality was just OK but for that price it was no way worth it. Baby, neither food, nor service. Two of four entrees were wrong in our family's order. My father ordered coctel de camarones and got shrimp tacos. I ordered steak quesadilla that came only as cheese. This update has a little to do with accessibility and a little to do with food quality. This place got a higher rating than almost any other place I've reviewed with respect to accessibility. And their food also was the best Mexican in Longmont, in this Texans opinion. THEN I went for Sunday brunch. It's not set up for mobility impaired. Everything is up too high for a wheelchair or scooter bound customer to reach. I couldn't see anything they had, much less reach it to make myself a plate. I had to have my husband fix me a plate (which was full of stuff he likes, BTW, and not stuff I like, of course - losing agency sucks). OK, so no more brunch there for us. Brings me to food quality issues. This is new. Food quality had been great overall. Last two visits not so much. (1) Queso watery. Not a little watery. So watery couldn't get it onto a chip. Ran right off like actual water. (2) Queso w/ meat in it - like one tablespoon of meat. Literally. One bite w/ meat and nothing after that. (3) Chili cheese fries w/ meat added. Same issue. It's like they were running low on meat or something, (4) Nachos came out w/ NO cheese (not a little cheese - literally cheese-free) and covered with purple pickled onions and carrots. This was not decorations. It was as if I ordered carrot & purple onion nachos. So I reached out to them to let them know we'd had a couple of bad exeriences and ask them if they'd like soome specifics to reach out to me, and provided my contact info. Instead of contacting me, they (Crystal - a mgr I assume) emailed from a, "No Reply", email address providing what I assume is her mobile and/or direct phone number and said she'd definitely like to hear about what happened. I HATE when people - instead of calling me - text or email me and ask ME to call THEM. Kind of wimpy and definitely annoying and, IMO, disrespectful of my time. BUT we really liked this place so I called the number. Three times. All non-peak restaurant times of day and days of week. Ring-no answer and no voice mail set up. SO here I am, making all of this public when all I really wanted was to let a restaurant I really like and would like to keep patronizing know so they had the opportunity to course correct. Another 5 stars! Start to finish, La Mariposa is GREAT. I was greeted by two staff members at the hostess desk ... and they knew me :) I got one name, Yruria (spelling?), our hostess as we were leaving, and Ruben was our server extraordinaire! I've also been served by Jaime several times and he is excellent. Hands down, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Longmont. I can hardly wait for Happy Hour in the outdoor space when the weather is warm. Next time, there will be pictures. I'm not sure what Lainie L. is talking about. The queso is amazing, Taco Tuesday is a steal, the chips and salsa are top-notch, and I've never been disappointed in an entree. So this was our 3rd time that my family and I have gone for lunch. Each and every time we must have the food sent back. The last time the cheese was not melted in enchiladas. It was literally cold shredded cheese wrapped in a very greasy tortilla. Yes the manager had the food fixed, but this is the 3rd time! Please we want to love your restaurant, but every single time it sucks because the food isn't cooked. Can you speak/train your kitchen staff about quality? Or by a microwave to melt the cheese? The Server we had was probably the worst server I have ever dealt with. 3 people at my table and we asked to split the check, you would have thought I asked him to do calculus. Then once he had it figured out he literally stood over the table until we were all paid up and watched to see how much tip he received. He only checked on us 1 time after our food was brought to us and he didn't even bring the food out someone else did. The one time he did check on us we asked for refills for our drinks, once he brought out the refill he slammed the drinks down at the edge of the table and I had to hand them out. You have an unqualified hostess to control your business and customers, use her a little power to chose who need to be seated, this is absolute racist. We went there for lunch today, lots of empty seats, but the hostess told us that you didn't have enough waiter to serve today, we have to wait, so we stand and wait to be seated for more than 5 minutes and still no seat. Absolutely great time tonight! There were 17 in our party and everything went perfectly. Our server (darnit I forgot to get her name) was stupendous and didn't miss a thing. We didn't have to wait for any drinks, refills, nothing. Food came out all together and was delicious, as always. The new location is lovely, so bright and cheerful.
