"SEEMS LIKE A GOING OUT TO EAT KIND OF NIGHT" Saturday we had plans to eat Dinner with my Wife's Son, Joe. We met up with him at his house in Colorado City (TX) and then went to Santiago's Restaurant just down the street. Santiago's Restaurant is a Mexican & American Restaurant with a really nice size menu. We have been here several times and it's always been some really Gooooooood Food. Arrived and this place as several cars & trucks parked outside - and a good number of customers inside. The Hostess, which is also a Server, showed us to our table. Our Server came over and we forgot his name - placed our drink order while we looked over the menu. They also provide you with their Fresh Chips and Very Hot Red Sauce - but it also is very flavorful. After decided we ordered. My Wife is going with their "Senior Hamburger Steak"; Ground Steak topped with Brown Gravy & Mushrooms, served with a side Salad and Texas Toast. Joe is having their "Pork Chop"; Grilled Seasoned Pork Chop with chosen sides; Loaded Baked Potato & Cole Slaw. Also comes with a Roll. I am having the "Double Cheeseburger"; Two All Beef 1/2 Pound Patties topped with Melted Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions & Pickles. Also request a Fried Egg on top - chose French Fries for a side. Orders are complete and we are enjoying those Chips & Red Sauce - and they filled up our basket of Chips and replaced the two bowls of Red Sauce - nicely done. I have had that Double Cheeseburger before and that thing is Huge and Awesomelylicious. I do believe it is more than a pound - those patties are the Largest Half Pounders I have seen in a restaurant. It is Mighty Big and Mighty Good. They also have some of the Best Fried Fish around and mu Wife and I almost ordered that - but I can't pass up a Good Burger and that's what they have here. Looking around we noticed that they must be operating on a short staff because we only see two Servers working and we do believe that is only one Cook on duty - they usually have Two - and this place is Very Busy. Guess it just might take a while to get out food. That's okay because we have Chips & Red Sauce. Anyway, it did take a while to get our food and Joes Pork Chop came out first - it does glisten and you can tell it is Seasoned nicely. Joe enjoyed the Baked Potato and Cole Slaw but said the Pork Chop was a little over-done. He added some Heinz 57 Sauce and enjoyed his meal. Soon after my Wife's and my plates were served and hers looks pretty good. She said it the Hamburger Steak was really good and the Brown Gravy Mushrooms were good. The Salad was Fresh and had good dressing. My Double Cheeseburger is Very Impressive and looks just like the one I had previously. There is so much meat on there that it looks like I'm eating a Meatloaf between the Hamburger Buns. It's also Mighty Tasty and each bite melts in your Mouthliciousness - and I Love the Fried Egg on top. It's a Special Way to enjoy a Cheeseburger. Like the long time ago commercial says; "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" - and I did because I done did this before - that's why I ordered it again - it's that good. The French Fries are Golden Brown and served Hot - right from the fryer with a nice light Crunch. Like I said, everything we have ever had here as been some really good stuff - but sometimes a Restaurant finds themselves in a bind and they do everything they can in providing the service you require. All the customers were very patient in waiting for their food because they know it's going to be good. We left a nice tip for them and we will be back. When we left their were more cars & trucks pulling in - they are going to be busy until they close. If you are ever out this way, stop in and give them a try. Came in off the interstate: sign on the door saying it would open at 12:00. There was a line waiting for it to open, 12:00 came and went. Called and a young lady said their cooks were out on a delivery and it probably wouldn't be open until 1:00. Everyone was disappointed and left. Hurtful for small businesses like this to operate on non steady hours. Hope it changes, this is normally a decent stop to make for a bite to eat while traveling. read more

The food is usually good. The atmosphere varies, if you get the petite server she will not ever try to make you feel welcome. We have been eating here for years. We had stopped going in because they were short handed and the wait was to long and the young wait staff seemed disinterested in the existence of the customers. We are very understanding people but this visit was enough. Will not be back, having to ask for the rest of your food or your drinks or silverware or even being ignored for several minutes when the place is empty should have been the signs we needed. Saw the sign in front saying "best steak in Texas" or something like that and I was skeptical but damn. That was a phenomenal ribeye. Hot, cooked perfectly medium rare and seasoned perfectly.. just salt and pepper as all good steaks should be. Highly recommend! Staff was very friendly. Food was good. Very long wait for anyone to come by our table. The wait on the food didn't take too long though.

Me and my husband are currently moving across the country due to military reasons. During our stay here in Colorado City Texas we decided to try Santiago's. This place is terrible. Our stay lasted almost 3 hours. Here's the summary of that stay. -Ask if they had beer and got an extremely aggressive "NO". Ok fine we'll just not have beer. -ordered our food which took an hour to get. Weird. Fine it was getting busy. - Took 10 minutes to get drinks before that. - Food was not good except for the steak. Sides were really hot or had no seasoning. Tasted bland as sand. - Husband hated his Mexican platter. He usually will eat crap food but he refused to finish this. - Asked for a plain cooked steak and cheese cake to go and that took another hour. - The staff was rude and dismissive and didn't even come back to check up on us or anything. - we had to figure out the hard way how to pay our bill. - saw other people waiting a long time just to be seated or to pay their bill. We came in with a large party (approx 40 people). They took great care of us. That's pretty amazing these days with every restaurant being short staffed. I had a shredded chicken taco salad and it was great. My boyfriend had the ground beef soft tacos. They looked good but I didn't get a bite. As usual I forgot to take a picture before I ate mine. Stopped here on a cold day. Both my husband and I had cheeseburgers. They were big burgers with plenty of fresh fries! The burgers were good, but a little on the dry side. Tasted like a lean burger. Worse experience I have ever had at a restaurant. A waitress carrying a tray full of drinks dropped her tray and the drinks spilled over our heads, laps, into our food and on our phones that were on the table. The waiter who caused the spill laughed at us. Then went to the other waitress and pointed and laughed at us as we were drying up tea from our heads and clothes. Not one offer to replace our ruined food. Went to the register to ask tospeak to manager , the manager refused to come speak to me , they wanted us to pay full price for our meal ( which was full of soda and tea) that we couldn't eat. Very bad service , our waitress was not attentive at all, spent more time chit chatting amongst co-workers than working. Don't waste your time or money to eat here! read more

I was not really in the mood for Mex food so I went with a cheese burger. Very Good Service was tops. A few people around town said that the stakes are the best in town. Dont waste your time with this shithole. Rude staff and food is awful. Had the beef fajitas and sent it back because it was so tough. My buddy had the enchiladas and had a couple of bites and pushed it away. Beware they try and charge you a $1.50 charge for each meal if you use your debit or credit card. Keep going down I-20 for your next meal. Cant see how they will last being doo terrible. read more

Worst food I have ever tasted! Customer service was good, but the food was just horrible. I feel so bad for people who live here because they hyped it up so much and it's sad to think that this small little town thinks that that food is good. It's ok not best steak in west Tx but ok took about 35 min to get food restaurant wasn't that busy but employees were very nice.

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The service was terrible and I would not recommend this place to anyone. We ordered food and it took over 45 minutes to get our food which was first given to the table next to us and then 5 minutes later brought to our table. The waitresses acted like it was their first day and seemed like it was funny how terrible they were. Like I read in an earlier review (wish I would have read it before stopping here) if you are driving on I-20, keep driving past Santiago's. Should have taken the hint when the waitress "seating" us acted like she could care less. Next tip off was store bought tortilla chips. In spite of this we placed our order and sat over 45 minutes with virtually no acknowledgement from our waitress not even to refill drinks. We finally got up and went to the cashier and asked what we owed for two iced teas so we could leave. There was no explanation or apology for waiting the better part of an hour for food that never came. BTW other patrons had similar waits. We had to wait a bit, but boy was it worth it. This place has the best Caesar Salad in a hundred mile radius. Keep up the good work!
