This is an expensive movie theater and it's nothing fancy. They have no matinee or child prices. A family with multiple kids, or even just 2 adults/2kids and a popcorn and drink. You are at about $100. I believe they do a discount in the summer for replayed kid movies though. If you can find an AMC like they have in most cities, they have $5-10 prices and even have discount days. Can't see movie theaters like this lasting much longer. read more

Food was fast, pretzels and popcorn was good quality. The dip for the pretzels was meh, but it was better than none. I was hoping for a cheese dip and it was some sort of honey mustard and more on the honey side. The recliners have seen quite a bit of wear. I don't mind paying more for the lounge theaters, but he companies should plan replacements as needed and definitely should dust/wipe them down. Overall service was fast and great. I would go back, but I'll definitely check out other theaters in San Antonio for comparison. read more

The movie experience was great!! I went to Casa Blanca for a matinee showing of the 1999 cinematic masterpiece, The Mummy, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz on its 26th anniversary and had a wonderful time. The cinema in its entirety was pretty slow when I went so I had the theater to myself for the showing. I'm sure the lack of a crowd was part of the reason the staff was in such a good mood! For the place itself, the theater's speakers were crisp and the seats, though not recliners, were comfy, the self serve drink refill and snack station was clean and fully stocked, and the restrooms were in excellent condition as well. Nothing new here but beware the snack prices. They keep getting pricier and pricier! I'd definitely like to return to see a few more movies and experience the arcade and bowling side of things. NEW UPDATED REVIEW. OLD REVIEW LISTED AT THE BOTTOM. Since it opened, Casa Blanca was our favorite movie theater to attend almost anytime we went to the movies. We loved Santikos so much and have spent thousands of dollars watching movies and enjoying meals there. When our 17-year-old son, who grew up watching movies at Casa Blanca and other Santikos theaters, wanted to apply for his first job, we were so happy he applied and was hired to work with Santikos. After enduring several days of training at the Palladium, he was excited to start his first day at Casa Blanca, but sadly, he was treated so rudely and unprofessionally by the managers on staff on his first day. They did not welcome him, they did not guide him, all they did was talk down to him, and even yell at him in front of the customers in line for concessions, specifically by a manager named James. He completed his shift and contacted HR to let them know about the toxic and hostile work environment he experienced, and asked them if it would be possible for him to transfer back to the Palladium, which is where he originally applied, but they told him there was nothing available for him. He contemplated returning to Casa Blanca, but decided that this type of abuse on his first day is unlikely to get any better so he resigned. He drafted a well thought out and detailed resignation letter and emailed it to HR. Instead of showing any sympathy or asking if there was anything they could to do help. All they responded with was his termination has been processed. It seems like they didn't care one bit about what their new, young, and excited employee explained to them, and just decided to brush him off. This seems like a huge contradiction from the statement on their employment page saying, "You will see a culture of open communication, team building, and encouragement." Every single place I have ever worked or any new employee I have ever hired or welcomed to our team has been treated with respect and given guidance on their first day on site. Why they decided to treat our son so rudely and disrespectfully, I will never understand, but some kindness and encouragement for someone new to a position goes a long way. Our family grew up watching movies in Santikos theaters, but after this experience, we may never set a foot in a Santikos, and will start encouraging our family and friends to do the same. I hope that James, the other managers at Casa Blanca, and the HR learn to treat their new employees better or they will have trouble retaining good employees when the job market gets better. Movie theatre was good. The chairs need to be repaired, some are broken and leans back too far. Very uncomfortable to sit in. The popcorn needs to be improved. They served all small pieces, and burnt you could not even pick them up. When I asked the girl to remake it she did, but has no customer service. I should not have been served burnt small kernels that did not pop properly. The customer service used to be wonderful here and the popcorn too. But not so much lately. Management needs to do better with food quality inspections and train their employees. I also miss that welcoming family friendly environment. I'm so over this place! They charge 5$ for a water bottle, 7.50$ for a their smallest drink, and they made me take my water back to the car. So I sit here in the movie theater with a migraine because the only other option was a kids sno cone cup! Some people have medical conditions and shouldn't be forced to pay ridiculous prices to keep themselves healthy and stable. I get the need to keep people from stealing drinks but allowing people to bring in clear containers should be allowed! Not to mention their seats don't even recline! It's a newer theater... why? Went to watch the obsession. Was surprised to see how big the theater was compared to your average Cinemark. The margaritas there were strong but still tasted good. I didn't like how the seats did not recline back. Always fun to watch our favorite movies here at Santikos. However, although Casa Blanca is fairly new, they seem to be neglecting proper maintenance and upkeep. Obviously the upholstery on the seats are faux leather, otherwise they would be charging higher ticket price on the already high price they currently charge for each moviegoer. They should have at least regularly check the seats to make sure it all still look presentable and justifiable to the ticket price we customers pay. High-priced food and beverages seem to be the norm and well we are all seem to be used to it, it's all decent anyway. But the facilities should be maintained regularly. These seats are horribly neglected and for me personally doesn't live up to Santikos brand. Though Santikos theatre still beats all the other competing chains of movie houses but they should consistently live up to their name that is singularly Santikos. read more

Saw The Last Rodeo, great movie but otherwise I didn't really enjoy my experience so i'll choose a different movie theater next time. Staff attitude was below average, the nachos were actually bad which is weird, I have never had nachos I didn't like. I had a large group of 12 that wanted to go bowling at 7 pm at Casa Blanca. The Santikos instructions online said I had download the Open Lane app to get on the waitlist the day of. I had to wait until the wait time would land on 7 pm. When we got to Casa Blanca to check-in, I was told "Oh, we don't use that. We put you on a list." She then wrote my name and lane requirements down and said we had to wait about 20 minutes or so. There was only one person working the desk for a high volume time! The poor girl was overwhelmed. The bowling alley was nice, lighting was good, with a good amount of seating, but too narrow. However, the echo from the lanes was the loudest I'd ever heard. We could barely hear ourselves talk. No bathroom for the bowling alley. You had to walk into the theater hallway for the bathrooms there and go past the ticket taker. Awkward. We could only find one skinny trash can, and it was literally overflowing. The bar had only one bartender taking drink and food orders; both overpriced and not that good. You could order on the score pad at your lane, but that stopped the game. If I go back, it won't be with a group or on a weekend. read more

Went on Monday to get military appreciation ticket. The movie I went for was on a screen that did not offer the military rate. We did not buy a ticket. When I got home I had to go to the internet web page, not their app, to see the fine print of all the exceptions on the military appreciation tickets. This was my first time bringing my 3 year old to the movie theater. The free summer movie at 10 am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays was the perfect opportunity. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I didn't like that the screens at the back are playing while you're trying to bowl and the reflection is in the lane so it is very distracting and makes it hard to see the arrows. Casa Blanca is one of San Antonio's newest movie theaters and is beautiful. It looks massive from the front of the theater (see picture) and even has a bowling alley and arcade inside! I came here for my first movie theater experience in Texas, which also happened to be the first movie I've watched in theaters in over two years. Upon entering the building, you find yourself in a large atrium centered around guest services. To the left is Bowling & Bar, the right is Express Café, and directly in front of you is a large concession area. A large popcorn is $8, but the popcorn kernels themselves were rather small and not really fluffy. It was a bit disappointing since I expected better popcorn quality, especially at a movie theater. The auditorium I was in did not have reclining seats, and some of them were rather squeaky. The cup holders and the seats seemed a bit dirty. However, I liked that each armrest had a metal lip that held your popcorn container in place. Hoping that other locations of Santikos are better because this location ranked below average than other movie theater experiences I've had. read more

I love this theatre. Lots of family oriented activities, like bowling, movie watching and an arcade, too. Lots of parking, but the place gets packed even during matinee hour on a weekend. Watched a movie today with family from out of town and enjoyed some concession treats. The large popcorn and large drinks come with free refills and there is an express ordering option where you can pick up your preordered pizza slices, etc in a warmed cubby off to the side. Pretty cool. Drink refills are self serve at a station near the theatres. I love the theatre spaces. At least the one we were in today, was smaller, clean and a more intimate setting. The seats are all power recliners and what I love is that you choose your own seats when you purchase online. No need to rush to the location to be early so you can try to get the best seats. As Texas, the city reopens for business (even though it never really closed) we navigate our lives through potential pathogenic waters. When we leave our homes now we bring our keys, wallets and pack our face masks. This is our new reality, an assemblage of normalcy. A few weeks back I was anticipating the first wave of Summer Blockbuster Films with drink in tow. Instead I am left wondering if any of us will ever enjoy that simple pleasure again. In the social experiment that is the first phase of businesses reopening theaters fit imperfectly into this category. At this level we are in essence a test subject for procedures and best practices moving forward. I say this as I was curious how places would adapt to these changes. But I mainly came because theaters for me represent a comfort slowly being taken away. I'm no epidemiologist even with a face mask minus the scrubs. However it was crazy seeing Santiko's "Casablanca" resembling a hazmat scene rather than SA's premier megaplex. When I arrived I was greeted with staff opening doors for me, for patrons. Everyone from managers to ushers were wearing masks. As I made my way through the main atrium a person seated at a table asked a few basic health questions: "Are you experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms?" Again this is part of our new reality. Another thing that struck me was the absence of sounds associated with the theater experience: the arcade wasn't annoyingly blasting, people's conversation squelched and children running amok no more. It's been replaced with a deafening silence and everyone looking at each other suspiciously. I was also hoping to bring my trusty beer refill mug "Thor" with me, but the tapmaster by the bowling alley assured me that option no longer exists. To my dismay cash is no longer accepted as well. You must pay with a credit, debit or a gift card. I will say that I like that they clean your card with wipes on every transaction. The experience generated is meant for little or no contact between us and employees. The concession stand lines once overflowing with patrons were one person deep. The menu is very limited offering no-refill popcorn tubs. Which segues into their self serve station, it is closed. Butter is handed to you in condiment cups. Drinks are handled solely by staff. I guess the thinking is if you touch something you have already compromised it. By implementing this the risk of exposure to both parties is reduced. A few questions did come to mind. Once restrictions are lifted will amenities be returned? Can theater staff keep up this OCD level of cleaning a day, a month a year? If a patron is coughing or sneezing can a theater turn them away? Before I go further down this rabbit hole that will bring me right into Tim Burton's estate I really appreciate all these measures. Seating was spread out with gaps to facilitate spatial distancing. Staff were hyper vigilante in wiping down seats, tables etc. Sure there was an uneasiness but once the lights dimmed and the movie started, it was like I kinda miss this. Judging from the turnout I know people are scared. The city is still hesitant. That time you were laughing your arse off with people next to you during "Girl's Trip" is gone. Or at least will be retransformed. For now this is our new normal. Whether you decide to go or wait until more restrictions are lifted depends on the level of trust you have for your fellow (wo)man. Which at the moment is probably low. I must admit in years past I have been on the fence with the Casablanca Theatre. However its strict policies in regards to health care measures means it values its patrons and employees safety. Will people come back I don't know. Only time will tell. ps. Had not been to the movies in a while was amazing evening. They have a bar now which we had to go in and have a drink before the movie. I had a mangonada drink but I did not expect it to be so huge regardless I sacrificed and drank it. The seats were awesome and relaxing if it wasn't because this movie was so funny I would have fallen asleep here. We were given tickets for a drink and popcorn and was surprised to find out that it was self serve and I could come back for more (how times have changed). I do have to say the popcorn was fresh and the butter on top made it even better. They have ushers cleaning all around so they can help if you need anything.
