    Large Cheese Pizza

As someone originally from the Northeast, it's hard to find a decent pizza joint in LA that sells true NY style pizza. Santino's is by far the best NY pizza I've had in LA. Service is always great, it's super easy to just call directly for pickup and they usually have a pizza ready in 20-25 minutes. If you prefer to eat in person, they have a nice seating area and obviously more things on the menu than just pizza! There's street parking on Woodman or Ventura. So if you're a Sherman Oaks local or just stopping by, definitely check out Santino's for a true NYP slice.

Unfortunately, I went back twice, and those times the pizza was very mediocre. According to someone who works in the neighborhood, the pizza is not good on days a certain pizza maker is working. so hit or miss! I had really awesome pizza there once and horrible pizza there twice. I tried the meatball hero, not really good either and expensive.

I ask for thin crust, pizza and this is what I got. This is not pizza.

Looking for a good thin crust pizza in the Valley, this is your spot. We've been coming here for years. The pizza is hot and fresh. Just the right amount of cheese and sauce. It's the kind of pizza that you want to eat hot, but it burns the roof of your mouth. Never taken the pizza home, but I would definitely recommend eating in the restaurant. This is the type of pizza that doesn't stay hot long...and it's definitely worth eating fresh! The service has always been very polite and helpful. The staff is always friendly. The restaurant is small, but it feels just like the countless pizza joints I've been to in the east coast. I would definitely recommend.

Santino's Pizza has always been one of my favorite places to get pizza pies. There are a bunch of places in LA now that make great pizzas and different styles, but I always find myself craving Santino's. I think it's their pizza sauce! Not too acidic or sweet, kinda like a "Marcella Hazan's tomato sauce" in my opinion. In addition, they use fresh topping ingredients and the ratio of cheese to ingredients to sauce are always perfect! Never soggy. Santino's pizzas are thin crusted all the way around and doesn't have a thick fluffy edge or crust. This thin crust pizza comes out chewy; and if you eat it right away has a slight crisp- it's good stuff! My absolute favorite is their version of Margherita Pizza. It's excellent! In my neighborhood nothing compares to Santino's, so I make the drive to Sherman Oaks when I can. Sherman Oaks area has great pizza spots and Santino's is one of them.

Love this NY style pizzeria! Popped in here for a slice of cheese pizza and a drink. The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and the thin crust pizza slice was delicious. The inside is small with 5 tables but I really liked it. Street parking can be tricky around here but there's parking behind the restaurant.

The salmon salad is my personal favorite and I order it constantly, but the avocado toast deserves its own moment. It is bursting with flavor in a way that has no business being as good as it is. I mean, it's bread, avocado, some cheese, fresh basil.... but it SINGS! The desserts are delicious, the server recommendations are genuinely solid (they actually know the menu and steer you right), and the service overall is warm and attentive. Special shoutout to Miles, who is always a joy and makes you feel genuinely welcomed every time. The space is small with both indoor and outdoor seating, but that's part of the charm -- it feels less like a restaurant and more like going over to a friend's house for dinner. They take real care of you here, attentive, superior, friendly service. If you haven't been, go. And when you get there, order the avocado toast -- even if you think you've had good avocado toast before. You haven't had this one. But seriously, anything you order will be great! I would also like to give special recognition to the manager. she was incredibly kind, welcoming, energetic, and made us feel comfortable throughout our visit. We were treated to a delicious pasta that wasn't yet on the menu, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I will definitely come back just for that pasta! Service is great, food is fabulous in general consider the price and I love the interior and ambience. Couple of things disappointed me this time... 1. We sat at the bar and we felt a bit rushed, the server literally asked to take away one of the plates before we even started! The restaurant was not super busy at the time so not sure why they were "rushing us". 2. The tiramisu... again this is not my first time at Uovo although it is the first time I visited the Studio City spot; there was something off with the Tiramisu to the point that my friend and I did not even finish the dessert. There was a chocolate fudge thing on top as you can see in the picture that was way too much and way too overwhelming. Could not taste the coffee at all. The cream was very heavy... Other than that the pasta is always top notch, so I will definitely give them another try sometime soon!

The food and the experience were excellent. Our server was incredibly friendly and gave us some great recommendations to start the night. We began with the house bread, which was soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and served with balsamic and olive oil. Simple and delicious. Next up was their homemade Caesar salad. Instead of traditional croutons they use toasted crumbs, and honestly it was a game changer. The texture worked perfectly with the dressing. For our mains we had the Dover sole piccata which was bright, buttery, and exactly what we were craving, along with the seafood linguine that was rich and flavorful. We wrapped things up with a cappuccino cheesecake and an Americano which was the perfect way to end the meal. Great service, great food, and a really enjoyable dinner overall. 10/10 recommend. Chicken was soft and moist but the mushroom flavor didn't quite permeate all the way. I'm getting more of that through the roasted potatoes * I got the salmon penne with butter cheese sauce, instead of the pink sauce. In hindsight not the best move since the pasta was a bit bland with insufficient sauce.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, enjoying a romantic date night, meeting friends for brunch, or simply treating yourself to an unforgettable meal, Ca' Del Sole delivers every single time. The food is exceptional. Every dish is beautifully prepared with the quality, elegance, and attention to detail you'd expect from an upscale restaurant in France or Italy--but at prices that are surprisingly reasonable. They've got locations all over the city, and the Sherman Oaks venue has been a fixture in the neighborhood for decades, where not much has changed through the years. The space is roomy, comfortable, clean and well-kept, and the staff is uniformly friendly. I've also catered parties from here, and they really have their business well-organized. With Maria's you know what you're gonna get. Except for tonight, when the Eggplant Parmigiana I was served turned out to be lasagna. Surprise! When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said, "I knew it. It looked like lasagna, but I served it anyway to see if you noticed." Huh? Okay. I don't dislike lasagna, and I didn't want to wait for a replacement, so I kept it, and it was very tasty. Rich, tomatoey sauce with a mix of beef and pork (plus a touch of cream) surrounded the slice of lasagna, its layers of pasta and ricotta blanketed with melted mozzarella that managed to be both gooey and crusty brown at the same time. I liked it quite a bit, though I'd have preferred to have the eggplant instead. My wife ordered the "summer lite" portion of Chicken Piccata, which had a tasty sauce and generous sides of pasta and veggies, while my daughter ordered grilled chicken with broccoli -- also nicely seasoned, and accompanied by charred, very fresh broccoli seasoned with olive oil and garlic. My son and his girlfriend are both vegan, so they shared a vegan pizza and spaghetti marinara (also vegan). Kudos to Maria's for having a good number of vegan options available, and being so accommodating to their whole audience. While Maria's may not be the very best Italian restaurant in town, they're aiming for something else. As a family-friendly, reasonably-priced neighborhood stalwart they're continuing to score big points after a very long time. Good for them.

We parked in one of their 3 parking spots in the back and entered through the rear entrance. We were greeted by Aya who mentioned they were having some plumbing problems so we needed to sit in the front section of the restaurant. The place is pretty small and compact, with about 10 tables. It's family owned and been around for 25 years. The prices are pretty affordable for the portion sizes. Not much ambiance or decorations, but there was some nice Italian music playing overhead and some Christmas decorations that are apparently hung up year-round. Both Thomas and Aya waited on us and they were both pleasant and kind with nice smiles. Thomas quickly brought out some waters along with their complimentary focaccia that came with olive tapenade. The bread tasted old and stale and wasn't warm, but I liked the tapenade. Surprisingly, we were never asked if we wanted anything else to drink and also never got refills on our waters until I had to ask for one. I ordered the Italian salad with dressing on the side and I asked if the carrots that came in the salad were cooked or raw, since I don't like raw carrots. Aya happily suggested that they can cook me some carrots separately and bring them on the side, which is what they did. Even though the carrots were not really cooked that well, the gesture was still greatly appreciated. Other than that, all the ingredients were very fresh and the dressing was LIGHT, just how I like it. For our entrèes, I got the Pollo Della Cassa which came with chicken breast and mushrooms baked with mozzarella cheese, served on pasta with Alfredo sauce. ($24.95), with an add-on of shrimp (+$3.00 for 3 shrimps). I also asked for light sauce, not too soupy, and that's exactly how it was prepared. The food was piping hot, very fresh, and delicious. My son ordered the Pollo Limone ($24.95) that came with grilled chicken breast with lemon sauce on mushroom risotto. He was not the biggest fan of his food but still ate all of it. He also asked if he could get a side of veggies and they gladly brought out a medley of sautéed broccoli, zucchini, and carrots. We were not charged for the side of veggies and also the salad, which was very generous of them. To end the meal, you get a small complimentary square of Tiramisu which is a nice little treat. The customer service is truly the best part of this restaurant and you can tell that there is a lot of love involved here. They really care about their guests and want you to feel happy and satisfied. Due to some minor ticks here and there, I think I am going to stick with 4 stars overall. The restaurant was clean but just kind of unpleasant. You could also smell the bleach right when you walk in and sometimes the smell would waft through the air. It was also really hot in the restaurant and I don't think the A/C was working. They have one bathroom for each gender and they were very clean. I also asked for some change to leave cash for the tip, but Thomas told me they didn't have any cash in the restaurant. How can that be? Thank you Spumoni, Aya, Thomas, and the chefs. Will I return? Maybe, maybe not.
