As a Sicilian-American, I'm incredibly picky about pizza. Pizzana is one of the very few places in Los Angeles that consistently lives up to the hype. The secret is the dough. Light, airy, flavorful, and somehow indulgent without leaving you feeling weighed down. Every pizza tastes thoughtfully crafted, with high-quality ingredients that let the flavors shine. Their signature slow-fermented dough has earned a devoted following for good reason. IT IS AWESOME. And for awesome you pay the price and shut your trap. This is a neighborhood place and I am thankful that it is not overrun with a fake crowd. But I feel like some of you are sleeping on this place. You travel all the way to Italy to take pasta and pizza classes and they do workshops here! The Cacio e Pepe pizza deserves its cult status, but honestly, I've never had a bad meal here. The service is always warm, the atmosphere is buzzing, and every time I leave I find myself planning what I'm ordering on my next visit. It was my first time visiting Pizzana in Sherman Oaks! I stopped by later in the evening and was able to find street parking nearby. I placed my order through the app and received a text when my order was ready. The hostess asked for my name and brought out my pizza a couple of minutes later. it was a Thursday night and they were hosting an event so the restaurant was pretty busy. The inside is on the small side and they have a few tables outside. I ordered the Classic Pepperoni pizza and it was okay. It was on the colder side by the time I got it and was expecting more. We've long been fans of Pizzana. We've eaten at multiple locations over the years, and the Sherman Oaks location is the one we visit most often because it's close to home. We even had Pizzana cater our daughter's first birthday. That's why I don't particularly enjoy writing this review. The good news is that this remains a lovely restaurant. It's one of the rare places that manages to be genuinely family-friendly without feeling like a family restaurant. The staff has always been warm and welcoming, and we've generally enjoyed our experiences here. Unfortunately, our last two visits have been disappointing for the same reason: the pizza simply hasn't been up to the standard we've come to expect from Pizzana. The ingredients still seem high quality, but both visits were marked by underbaked crusts and pizzas that arrived noticeably less than hot. In several cases, the cheese had already begun to congeal and firm up by the time the pizzas reached the table. The result was pizza that lacked the texture, warmth, and freshness we've come to expect from Pizzana. After the first experience, we assumed it was just an off night. When the same issues appeared again on our next visit, it started to feel more like a consistency problem. I genuinely hope this location gets back to the level we know Pizzana is capable of delivering because we've had some great meals. Such a great experience at Pizzana! The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can really taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients in the food. Everything we tried was delicious, from the pizza to the appetizers. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are well balanced, and the presentation is beautiful. One of my favorite things about this location is Bingo Night on Tuesdays! My wife and I come to Pizzana in Sherman Oaks often, and we regularly order to-go from here as well. They are extremely consistent when it comes to their entrees, which is a big part of why this has become our go to spot whenever we are in the mood for pizza. The inside of the restaurant is quite nice too and has made for some really good date nights over the years. Some of my favorite pizzas are the Funghi, Cacio e Pepperoni, and Margherita. They also have great pasta and appetizers, so there is plenty to round out a meal beyond just the pizza. It has become our reliable, "you know exactly what you're getting" kind of place, and this location in particular is the one we find ourselves coming back to the most. All of our servers have been kind every time we visit. Solid spot for date night and consistently very good. We will definitely keep coming back. read more

My partner and I wanted to try a new pizza place and we found Pizzana on Yelp! The restaurant wasn't busy when we got there but we sat inside to take in the ambiance of the restaurant and take our time looking over the menu. Stopped here for a rest and a bite. Pizzas did not disappoint. Pepperoni pizza: 4 stars and yummy. Delicious pepperoni pizza with slightly charred, bubbly crust, the kind of pizza where the pepperoni edges are crispy and curled up from being roasted in the pizza oven. Crust is thin with just the right amount of chewiness. The pizza sauce is a little sweet, delicious flavor, bubbly cheese, and basil thrown in for good measure (see photo) Charlotte was my waitress tonight five star service all around very friendly and efficient fast friendly service. Meeting friends for a casual dinner and they recommended Pizzana. Located on the boulevard in Sherman Oaks, there is street parking only (another reviewer said there is a lot behind the restaurant. Not so). We did get a metered spot down the block good for 2 hours until 8 PM. The restaurant has 3 seating areas - a narrower room directly in line with the front door, a slightly larger room to the right, and a small patio in front right on Ventura Blvd. Shortly after we were seated, our server came by with a warm greeting and took time to explain some of the items on the menu. We opted to share several items. Cesare salad to start ($17). Very nice presentation and large enough for four of us to have a taste. Overall 4/5 rating for that dish. Then we got two appetizers - cavolfiore ($14) and polpette al forno ($18). The cavolfiore is panko coated cauliflower in a fairly spicy white sauce. Too hot for my wife and our friends so more for me. Tasty but not great (also 4/5). The polpette al forno is a dish with 3 small meatballs in a large amount of red sauce and 3 pieces of thick cut toasted bread on the side (good for dipping in to the left over red sauce). The red sauce dipped bread was the best part of this dish (overall 3/5). Three of us shared the Marguerite pizza ($23) and the mushroom pizza ($24). My buddy got the spaghetti al Pomodoro ($18). The mushroom pizza was good but too salty for my taste (3/5). The Margarita pizza was meh and also too salty (2/5). Service was fair. My friends had soft drink glasses that sat empty with refills offered only at the end of the meal. The water carafe also sat empty most of the evening with our glasses empty. My friends had asked for a spoon to help navigate the spaghetti. It never came. Difficult parking, mediocre food and service. Not coming back any time soon. read more

This place is a neighborhood hang with lots of families with kiddos. Can get very busy around 5:00 pm with a wait time if you don't make a reservation. It's not very big inside and the acoustics can be a bit challenging if you have sensitive ears...I placed my pizza to-go so I got to do a little "people" watching while waiting. The hostess and servers never slowed down. The small outdoor patio in the front was packed as well. 20 minutes later my pizza was ready and I headed home. They are known for their sourdough pizza crust. My Margherita pizza was okay. It didn't blow my doors off. Recommend making reservations on Resy, there seemed to be limited seating in the front that I could see. The interior is clean and very modern in the wallpaper and cute placemats. Service was good and we especially liked the tiered pizza table stackers! Highlights: - Corbarina Pizza - honestly the most delicious thing we got! The san Marzano tomatoes really make a difference. The squash blossoms are more for show as they don't change the flavor in my opinion. Outstanding pizza!! I've been meaning to try this place for a while. Finally made it here and wow!! The quality is the pizza is amazing. You don't feel gross after eating it - just like in Italy. I have given this place, so many tries. But I feel like either this location is not great or as the company has expanded overall, it's quality has gone down. Every single time I order from here the pizza comes out incredibly mushy and soft. It's like they're in a rush to get it done and the oven is too hot. Ottimo! This small place packs a punch. Cute and very authentically Italian - from the food, to the music to the coordinating colorful graphics on the wallpaper, placemats and artwork. Loved every item we had: carciofi arrostiti, pizza ai funghi and crespelle alla vodka. Normally I take photos but I was so into the food and the ambience I got carried away and just sat back and devoured it, enjoying every bite. The pizza is truly delicious - they have 'lunga levitazione' , which means the dough is allowed to rise for 48 hours which makes it much more digestible. Our server Charlotte was excellent and checked on us during our meal frequently. And a big thank you to Cameron who gifted us a pup pizza which our hounds enjoyed immensely. My boyfriend and I decided to check out this Pizzana location because we were craving some good Neapolitan style pizza. We had been to their silver lake location so we knew they had amazing pizzas. It was a beautiful night so we decided to sit outside. We ordered the caprese salad for our appetizer and two pizzas, the Cacio e Pepe and the Diavola. I think our waiter and the chef in the kitchen was having an off night because first we were brought the wrong appetizer and then the wrong pizza, and then were told that the chef burnt our pizza which is why it was taking so long to remake it. But unfortunately they've fallen off the ladder quite far for me :( the Fennel on the bianca just felt like they didnt care at all, it was like 2 pieces per slices thickly cut and plopped on there. The Diavola is usually a go-to for me but it was overwhelmingly salty :( finally, the chili oil lacked significant flavor and spice. Neither order was accurate and one of them took a almost 2 hours to make it the short 5 minute drive for a simple pizza delivery. The last time I ordered from here my order was not only in accurate but entirely wrong to the point I felt the need to call and request that they correct their mistake or issue a refund and I would bring the food back to them. The restaurant absolutely refused both counts. Extremely bad service. I love the Brentwood location if Pizzana, so when I was given the choice to pick a location to meet up with friends for dinner in Sherman Oaks I wanted to check this location out. For a table of four, we ordered: -carciofi arrostiti - a delicious combo of artichoke hearts and baby artichokes tossed with pine nuts, parmigiano, lemon and olive oil -cavolfiore - tasty panko crusted cauliflower bites served with a Calabrian lemon aioli -polpette al forno - meatballs served bathing in a dish of a tomato-based sauce -cacio e pepe pizza - one of their signature pizzas, I always get this. It's rich and flavorful with fresh cracked pepper -funghi - mushroom stacked on cheese, yum!! For dessert, we had the tiramisu and panna cotta. Both were executed well and standard. Service was attentive and friendly. We never felt like we were waiting for anything and refills were timely. The food was on par with what I expect from Pizzana. One bonus about this location is that it doesn't seem to get as busy as Brentwood. We were able to get seating with a minimal wait. Never disappointed when I spend an evening at Pizzana. Our go to's are the Diavola pizza, burrata, crispy cauliflower, Cesar salad, and of course the aperol spritz. We always want to try new dishes but sometimes it so hard to not get dishes we know we love and crave. We did stop in last week for Valentine's dinner and tried their special heart shaped ravioli and new tiramisu. Everything was perfect and luckily not too busy early in the night. Service is usually pretty quick but sometimes it does feel like a very tight space on a busy night. Pizzana is a great spot with a growing menu, great atmosphere, friendly staff and top notch food. Can't go wrong with Pizzana. Chef Daniele never disappoints! We heard about a special this past Saturday - a Pizza dog - which is just what you think an Italian Sausage wrapped in Chef's famous pizza dough you could get it classic style or with bolognese chili on top. Of course we had to do it with the bolognese chili- this was fantastic though we would have loved a bit more chili, that was amazing! Since we knew we wanted the special we called ahead too see if it would still be available at dinner time and at this point in the day they were selling a lot of them so advised us to come earlier. If you see a special highly recommend calling first. Would have been so sad if we missed this. We also had the Crispy Artichokes - one of our favs, and always good. We tried a new to us pizza, the Corbarina Pizza with san marano dop, squash blossom, burrata, cherry tomato and gremolata. How have we never tried this before - this may possible be my new obsession. For dessert we had the dark chocolate olive oil cake. This was okay i think next time we'd explore something else. I have been here twice in the last month; once on a Tuesday night and on a Saturday. I tried various items on both occasions including appetizers, pizzas, salads and pasta. The food has consistently been delicious. My 4 star review is in regards to the staff. I feel they're really pushy to get you to order a cocktail before you even had a chance to review the menu; and then they loose interest. When I went on a Tuesday it wasn't very busy but I feel the wait staff could benefit from some better training. They lack attentiveness and follow through on both occasions. I found myself both times wondering, "is someone going to take our order or check in on us". Both times I asked for things and staff just forgot. While I was in the bathroom my husband was standing by the front waiting for me and the hostess asked "can I help you with anything?". He replied saying, "I'm just waiting for my wife", and only a minute later the same person looked at him and asked the same question. He told me, "wow it just seems like the staff is aloof". On the one occasion the restaurant was tremendously hot on one side. I asked, "can you turn up the A/C, it's really hot". They replied, "oh we'll see what we can do". After a few minutes and no response, I said, "can we just move to the other side away from the kitchen? It's a little cooler there". Again, no follow up or response. At the end of our meal someone in my party said, "It's unusually warm in here, do you think their A/C is working?" I told them I asked twice and felt ignored. The food was delicious and vibe of the place is fun. My recommendation would be for better training for the staff. I felt like they treated the restaurant more like a casual hangout to chat amongst themselves and could put better efforts into serving their in-house dining customers. read more

They have an amazing deal on a Pup Pizza, which is made with flour, pork, pumpkin, potato, and peanut butter. We just got home and my pup went crazy for it, eating the pork toppings first before gnawing at the delicious looking crust. The pizza actually smells amazing and it took every ounce of self control to not steal a bite from my fur son Of course, we got the Torta Al limon for my partner and he also devoured his dessert. With how good this place is the food speaks for itself! Here's what we ordered: Cacio e Pepe Pizza - this is a must and I believe is their speciality. So delicious and perfect in every way! Margherita Pizza - a classic. Not the best but good Pasta bolognese - oh wow so good and comforting. Rucola Salad - by far one of the best salads I've ever had! Crisp, lemony, refreshing! First things first. This is technically not Neapolitan pizza. The bake time here is much longer. For most people, this is a plus as the pizza isn't as wet and soupy as the real deal. I personally prefer actual Neapolitan. That niggle aside, everything else about the pizza is top quality. The cheeses, proteins and tomato are things you can't buy at any grocery store. The margherita pizza is basically what you'd expect, but it ate a bit "dry" for me. We added sausage to the cacio e pepe pizza. I don't think it really reminded me of the pasta dish, but it was excellent in its own right. The sausage was a standout. We shared a chopped salad. It wasn't cheap, but it was loaded with cheese, cubed salami and garbanzo beans. The dining area is smallish, so calling ahead is probably a good idea. Pizzana was absolutely amazing! We tried the pizza with the head mushrooms (I can't recall the exact name, but check the menu--it's worth it). We also ordered the pizza with Cacio e Pepe and pepperoni, which was equally delicious. However, in my opinion, the standout from our order was the Caesar salad. I believe the croutons are made from focaccia, and let me tell you, I could easily go there just for the salad--maybe even devour two or three by myself. It was that good. We went on a Wednesday, which was surprisingly busy for a slower weekday. The space felt small, but nearly every table was filled. Despite the crowd, the ambiance was fantastic, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend making a reservation on Rezy if you want to sit indoors. They do have outdoor seating, but it's pretty chilly in LA right now, so keep that in mind! I now completely understand why this is an award-winning restaurant. They have several locations throughout Los Angeles, including Silver Lake, the Westside, and the Valley. Be sure to check their website for more details. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to share--I wasn't in the mood to be "that person" snapping photos, especially since I wasn't dining solo or with someone I felt comfortable doing that around.
