I brought a jacket here to have the zipper replaced. It took a week, but it was done so well. You couldn't tell it was a replacement. Great quality to his craftsmanship, highly recommend this guy. Worst place ever. Brontë designer handbag and shorts to this place to get fixed. They wanted me to pick them up on Saturday. when I called him to see if they were ready, he could not find the items. He said he would call me back. After finding them an hour later, he told me to come and pick them up today I asked again if they were done because it's an hour away from the house he said yes when we arrived, the items were not complete. The designer handbag had the one side stitched backwards. So that the leather was not showing it was the inside lining. It looks horrendous for what should've been a simple job. The designer shorts he quickly sewed while I was there using different hardware that does not match For example, it has gold hardware, any stitched on a replacement silver hardware. Then you owe me $20 I gave it to him, but could not get out of there fast enough I was so upset my items have been destroyed be wary of this establishment, especially if you cherish your items and don't want them marooned. read more

I wanted to give him a higher review because he's clearly a skilled old-school tailor, but his customer service is TERRIBLE. His English is broken and mumbled, which I could forgive, but he also acted like I was an annoyance for trying to clarify or ask questions. He also didn't write a legible receipt (chicken scratch that I'm sure only makes sense to him), and he just writes the totals by hand after adding them in his head. It's a little thing, but I'd prefer to know what each item cost and that the total is correct. I managed to discern that my costs were: $23 to dry clean a super long wool coat (....delayed? I hope?) $14 to "rush" Dry clean a women's suit (Good job) $10 to re-sew a hem on a women's skirt (Not sure how good) $2 per button to reinforce buttons on jacket (Good job) Also, I brought in a shirt where I'd lost the buttons on the cuff. I asked him to just replace them with the closest looking buttons he had (I wasn't picky) and yet he insisted he had no buttons and could do nothing with it until I bought buttons. Santos is amazing! The drive from Santa Monica is worth the quality and prices he offers. I had him alter a bridesmaid dress on short notice and he was able to get it done with time to spare and did a great job on all th changes. It fit perfectly. I also had some jean zippers fixed and hemmed and they are perfect. Hands down, he is definitely the best in the area and I will continue going to him from now on! read more

An old school tailor! I've had him make a few repairs as well as sewing patches on a couple of jackets, one sport coat and repairing a piece of luggage. I was very excited to "help the little man". I wanted to use the small business owner and I wanted to be happy with his work. Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad....I agree with Liz who commented earlier that his customer service was TERRIBLE! He appeared to be annoyed any time I came into the building. Like I was bothering or interrupting him. I liked the idea of the "old school" tailor. Was happy to support him, but was extremely unsatisfied with all else. I had 5 pairs of pants cleaned. Of course he gave me no time frame as to when they would be complete. I was generous and came back 1 week later. They were not done. He said to come back in 2 days. I did. They were not done. I do not think my dry cleaning should take over a week and 1/2 (besides telling me to come back to experience his rude behavior each time)!! I also had him clean a couple of jackets. 1 jacket was a brocade jacket with 4 snaps. When I got the jacket back, the snaps no longer "snapped". I took it back to him (expecting him to fix this issue being that he had JUST CLEANED IT), and he would not. He was snarky in his retort - "eh...snaps wear out! This is not my problem!" He would do nothing to repair them. He was more annoyed that I even THOUGHT about bringing up such an issue to him! I left in absolute disgust, vowing to NEVER return to him again. I was willing to deal with the "cash only" business. I was almost willing to deal with the extremely long dry cleaning time frame, but I absolutely will not deal with someone who is rude, condescending and annoyed by my appearance in his shop, my questions asked (that appeared to be beneath him) and his crotchety nature was just too, too much to continue with. Here I was looking to help him and by his overall response - he wants to be put out of his misery and his business! If you have no problem with any of this, he's great. If you expect a little better customer service - DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SANTOS! read more

I brought in a cotton shirt with gum stuck in the pocket. It had gone through the wash and the gum had penetrated the fabric. I didn't think there was a chance I could get it out myself without ripping the fabric. So I took it to Santo's. The cost was very reasonable and it was ready in a week. The shirt was returned to me cleaned and pressed without a trace of the gum. It looked like a new shirt. I have taken dry cleaning here too and have always been satisfied. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I love this guy. He has hemmed my pants, put in zippers on jackets, and all that stuff for decades. Sure, it may take some time to get something back, and all the other stuff, but who cares. He is a one man show and it is hard to manage the flow. The man has survived and is still going at it. May he never retire. read more

I have been going to Santo for close to 30 years. Old school? Definitely! But only in the best way. Yes, he only accepts cash, but always fast turn-around, quality work, and prices that can't be beat. I've tried a couple other places over the years and have always come back. I have used Santo for all of my alterations for the past 20 plus years. He is a kind man who wants to do the exact alterations you request. He does speak with an accent, but it is a small price to pay for his craftmanship and low prices. read more

I love bringing my dry cleaning here, super close to where i live and super low prices. I do wish it took a little less time to get done though. I don't usually mind. He's an older man with lots to do because people know he is good. Unfortunately, i called and asked how much it would be to hem a dress. I understood it would be an estimate until he saw the dress (depending on fabric). But he told me it would be about $15 and would take him a week and a half to do. When there was a week and a half until I needed it, I went to have him hem it. When he saw it he said because of the fabric and flaring, it would take two weeks and cost $100. I was floored, I told him I didn't have that kind of money. He was understanding and said he could maybe do it for $90 for me since the estimate was so off. I said I would have to come back if it was doable and left. That was alot of money so I had to wear a less appropriate and unseasonable dress to a black tie wedding, because at that point there wasn't time to get it done. I like Santo and do believe he does good work, but always seems to have too much to do for 1, older man,and the dry cleaning is not always done on time. I would love to give the man 5 stars and I am certain the dress would have been beautiful, but i can't justify that price for a gown i bought used on amazon. read more
