Stephan, the owner/winemaker, poured for us and provided us with his winemaking history. We tasted three wines, a '20 Chardonnay, a '22 Grenache, and a '22 Tempranillo, with revisits of our favorites. All were good, and we left with a couple bottles to add to our home cellar. He also had a couple friends visiting that brought their guitars and had a little folk music jam session, which created a very relaxing and fun ambiance. The week before our visit, they participated in the annual Mushroom Festival where they poured the same wines, however they had a food menu with several mushroom based items which really caught my eye. We bought six full bottles to take on our getaway to Cambria. The location in Lompoc is amazing with a huge warehouse, full kitchen, and comfortable tasting room. It is in an industrial park, but it is in a non-crowded area with lots of parking which is a huge plus. Yes, it is an hour out of the way from the 101, but it is a beautiful drive both ways and so worth the stop! Full disclosure - Brian and I attended junior and senior high together. But, honestly, he makes fabulous wine and has a state-of-the-art facility. Brian and Kimberly provide top-notch customer service and hospitality. I would recommend all of my friends stop for a fantastic wine-tasting experience. They have spoiled us for any other wine tasting!

Miles is a boring drip and he doesn't really know as much as he thinks he does about wine. But I do love Pinot, and Loring makes two of my favorites from the Clos Pepe vineyard and from Garys'. Luckily, on a recent visit to their new location in Buellton, they had both the 2016 versions of these wines in half bottles, full bottle for Clos Pepe. Ive been an acquaintance of Brian's for 20+ years as he first sold his wines to a wine group I was part of back in the late 90's, early 2000's. Now I see him occasionally at a charity event I've gone to previously. I admire how he pursued his dream and became a Santa Barbara rock star. They do more than just Pinot, and this visit is also more than just about wine with lovely locally baked shortbread cookies to pair. You wouldn't think it, but it's a great choice. The new location is next to Industrial Eats restaurant and makes for a great combo visit of wine and food and cookies. I prefer the two pinots above, you might find other pinots, or the blends or the whites more to your liking. All at fabulous price points too. Highly recommended :-)

While it's easy to drink, it's also got a lot of character and dimensions. Fruit notes but not sweet.... Not tannic so it's not dry either. Tempranillo - love! Hints of fruit and earthiness ...a bit of tannins... Slight acidity. This hit my palate just right. Like a sangiovese, I think it needs food. I think it could pair with anything from Bolognese to meatloaf to Taco Tuesday. Zinfandel - this is a lighter Zin IMO. Not a big peppery, spicy Zin. Super easy drinking I wanted to get this too so I'll go online later and buy it. Syrah - hubby really liked this one... For me I was expecting a bigger, jammier Syrah... This one was lighter and more approachable in terms of drinking. Its not heavy, not super tannic. Really a lovely red. All were great! Flying home so only a couple bottles fit in my bag. Chardonnay and Tempranillo were our picks for the day! (This time.) Definitely gonna order more online.
