The service was good overall, and the busser deserves major recognition -- she was on top of everything and really stood out in a positive way. As for the food, this visit wasn't the best. The gnocchi was overcooked and the pizzas were undercooked on the bottom. Flavor was there, but the execution needs improvement -- I would honestly rate the food closer to 3 stars. Still giving 4 stars overall because of the potential, the ambiance, and the strong service support. We loved the food that we had at this fine establishment. First, it's an unassuming restaurant inside a strip mall, with a different restaurant serving as the commercial development's anchor tenant. Excellent Neapolitan style pizza, great crust and ingredients and you won't go wrong with any combination. We've had the pizza multiple times, and also recently tried the lasagna which was very good and house made cannoli which were great. My husband and I came to this restaurant after reading in Chicago magazine that they had the best Neapolitan pizza in Chicago. This 5 star rating is 100% because of that AMAZING pizza. We loved it and I cannot wait to go back there and have it again. This restaurant was in a strip mall and most of the clientele looked like local families. We had no difficulty getting a table and the service was fantastic. My husband commented that they clearly trained their staff very well as they were super attentive, polite, and efficient. They also give you bread on the table with olive oil before your meal. We ordered the Insalata della casa, and they were super accommodating, taking the olives out of the salad for us. It came with a homemade balsamic dressing that was so sweet and good. (it made me want to go home and make a similar dressing). We also shared the spaghetti marinara and Margherita pomodoro fresco pizza. While we initially thought that the pasta didn't look like a very large portion, the amount of food we ordered was perfect for two people. The spaghetti marinara was very good and the sauce was a sweet red tomato sauce, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The highlight of the evening was clearly the pizza. I cannot even describe to you how perfectly delicious it was. The sauce, tomato and basil combination, with the delicious crust, was just perfection. I could eat that pizza every day of the week. We used to affectionately refer to this place as Strip Mall Pizza, but then we went to Naples Italy and returned with a better understanding of authentic Neapolitan food. This place cooks up that authentic Naples style pizza, but dig a little deeper into the menu to find simple pasta dishes made with care. In Italy it is more about making the best simple dish, not cramming in extra ingredients and calories. This place cannot escape its strip mall location, which can make parking a little challenging, but they do a great job with the food and the service is consistently friendly. It is a family friendly atmosphere and we do see a mix of tables with children and otherwise. We find the wine to be middling at best, but they have a full bar and a creative cocktail list. Something about the furniture and decor prevents me from going five stars, but this place is a good solid performer. Closed on Monday AND Tuesday, a good choice for Wednesday or Thursday. read more

This is not Giordano's, it's not Domino's, it's not Gino's, and it's not Little Cesar's. If they cooked it any longer, it would be so burnt you would be complaining even more. Go to an American pizzeria that does not have a wood burning oven, import their flour or tomato's from Italy, and use waxy textured processed mozzarella that barely melts - and tomato products that usually contain high amounts of HFCS. The Margherita we had was cooked to perfection, had amazing flavor, and made exactly the same way pizza is made in Napoli, like "Pizza da Michele", Pizza Bandi, Trianon, or Pizza Sorbillo." They have locals waiting up to and over an hour in some cases to get into Pizza Da Michele - but please don't go to any of these places, you won't like the pizza. read more

I have driven by this place about 8,000 times and never paid much attention to it so when my BF suggested we go there, I was happy to give it a try! There is easy parking in a lot right in front. The ambiance is simple and cozy with a plentiful amount of tables. It has a family owned vibe which I appreciate. We each ordered our own pizza and equally enjoyed them. One veggie + arugula and one pepperoni + olive. A nearby table ordered a salad and I will definitely do the same next time as it looked large and fresh! This place is truly amazing! Our post game dinner started with above and beyond service when the hostess was kind enough to get us a bag of ice for my son's knee which he injured in the game. After we had a chance to settle in and peruse the extensive and creative menu, we settled on pizza and pasta. The pasta was very good and the Diavolo pizza was DELICIOUS!!! This is authentic Neapolitan pizza. My father is from Naples, I have been to Naples on several different occasions, and this pizza stands right next to the pizzerias there. I have had pizza in other Italian cities that pales in comparison to this pizza. We typically only order pizza, and appetizers when we dine here so I cannot comment on many of the items coming from the kitchen. But, I would say that the pizza is definitely the focal point of the restaurant. It is a small, family run restaurant. It is minimally decorated, and clean. The pizza is made out in the open with the gorgeous wood burning oven being the centerpiece of the pizza making area. The owner trained in Naples to learn how to make this pizza, and built his wood burning oven himself with bricks imported from Italy. I don't know if you can get much more authentic than that. Staff is friendly, and accommodating. Some of the servers are younger, but they try very hard to do a great job. Sometimes they can get a bit flustered if they are super busy, but nothing has ever been incorrect with my order. The parking situation is a bit of a mess, but it's in a strip mall in Chicago so not entirely too sure how that is the fault of the restaurant. There is also parking on the street if the lot is full. The ingredients are always fresh, and full of flavor. The cheeses are decadent, and imported straight from the source. My two favorite dishes are the burrata focaccia, and the pizza with mozzarella di buffalo. Both dishes in theory are very simple, yet much can go wrong if a restaurant does not meld the flavors properly. Both dishes are absolutely delicious. Two other of my family's favorites are the prosciutto e arugula pizza, and the caciocavallo pizza. The pizze no matter which you choose are always cooked well, and the dough (which is the secret to what makes the pizza) always is of great quality and flavor. This pizza so delicious. If you somehow manage to save room for dessert the nutella pizza is to die for. It is so sinfully delicious. Honestly sometimes I think I should skip the regular pizza, and go right to this dessert. I also like the fritelle, but this is a very simple dessert made of fried sweet dough and sugar. Fritelle is an actual traditional Italian dessert if you are looking to keep the experience authentic. God the food was awful. This is not authentic Italian nor is there ANY flavor. Firstly everything came out way too fast = red flag. I want to know my food is actually being cooked not heated up or re heated. The gnocchi was overcooked and ridiculously bland. The Parmesan, pepper, salt and red pepper placed still couldn't save what was basically a jewel osco jar of tomato to sauce over some gnocchi. The pizza was undercooked, the cheese had barely melted and the dough was soggy. It was also bland. Waitress didn't apologise, demeaning repeated what I said back to me, and then asked if I'd like to send it back. Don't ask me of I want to send half eaten food back. It's hard enough complaining and feeling like a terrible person. Instead maybe OFFER a solution - a discount, a free dessert anything! Yeah we had eaten some of it (my boyfriend was starving and would have eaten a chunk of cardboard if put in front him) but use your basic waitressing skills to attempt sort of remedy to the situation. The crust is thin and chewy, the toppings are plentiful, and the personal pan is actually perfect for two to share. We ordered the Capricciosa and swapped ham for prosciutto crudo with no issues. It was absolutely superb. Pro-tip: pair it with a glass (or three!) of moscato. It was one of the best cheap glasses of wine I've ever had! Service was extremely laid back, and because we were having a casual dinner and enjoying our time chatting, we didn't mind. If you're in a rush though, this place might not be your jam. We gave Sapori Napoletani a try after reading about their wood oven pizza in Chicago magazine. The pizza didn't disappoint. The crust was pillow soft and the toppings were high quality and fresh. Their menu offers a wide variety of "personal" pizzas. You might expect a small personal pizza but, no, these personal pizzas were huge! I ended up taking half of mine home for later. The restaurant offers a variety of other Italian dishes and desserts. The service was friendly and attentive and the dining room was comfortable. The only downside of our visit was the parking lot is tight and serves two restaurants plus other stores. That being said the restaurant is a short walk from the Norwood Park Metra station. Tim is a great server. We started with the crochette di patate- so delicious. It's mozzarella cheese with mashed potato in a deep fried roll. So good. We also got focaccia burrata. The cheese, the burrata and the basil- perfect. My friends ordered two other appetziers- grilled octopus and grilled squid. Not my taste but they loved it! For an entree we got two pizzas - the margherita pizza and the truffle pizza. So delicious. I was told by my italifriends that this is very authentic. All I know is I loved it! Our table also ordered two pastas- one with clams and white wine sauce and the pasta napoletani (red sauce with eggplant). Everyone said they were amazing. For dessert, we got the tiramisu, a cannoli and pizza con la nutella. I loved the tiramisu. The others at my table said the cannoli was homemade and one of the best they have had. I didn't eat the others but everyone liked them. So to summarize, the food is delicious and authentic. The service was top notch by Tim. When I return I will get the crochette and focaccia burrata for an appetizer. For an entree I would get one of the pizzas above and the pasta napoletani. And of course tiramisu. The pizza tasted fresh and was surprisingly good considering I'm a huge fan of meat on my pizza. The salad was delicious and had slices of pears and walnuts. It was the perfect blend of balsamic and nutty flavors. The pasta was delicious and their sauce was tasty! I do recommend their meat sauce but I want to try their homemade "house sauce" next time. They have a huge oven inside and also sell an assortment of desserts like tiramisu and gelato. A couple of negatives (minus one star) I would say is that wait time is kind of long because they are so busy (which makes sense because the food is really good!). Today is hubby's birthday, and it's also the day we both ranted so much because our work days sucked. Nevertheless, having delicious food in the stomach will never be an epic fail. My birthday man asked for pizza, and I yelped. Oh yes, we are a collaborative couple. Rather than heading southeast direction from our residence to some trendy place in Lincoln Park or Near North Side, we drove to Norwood Park, next to the Metra station, and tried "Sapori Napoletani" for the very first time. Wow, we had the restaurant all to ourselves! There was no one else dining in the entire time we were there. Although they have a full menu, with many choices of appetizer, salad, first course, pizza, calzone, and dessert, we went with our original intent: the thin-crusted, wood-fired pizza. Since each wood-burning pizza is served in personal size (12-inches), we ordered the "diavola" and "maize & prosciutto." Within 10-15 minutes, these bad boys were delivered to our table by the lovely server, Sara. I thought the marinara sauce on the diavola was very delectable, and the crust was surprisingly chewy and had more "rise." In my layman's analogy, it was like the upper class people's pepperoni and cheese pizza. The fresh mozzarella, salami, and the homemade marinara sauce added a bit sophisticated to it. "Maize & prosciutto" is made with the fettuccine sauce instead of the typical marinara. Overall, I enjoyed this, yet I wish there were more pieces of basil because the herb would add lots of aroma to the dish. Sara was very sweet and gave us some good recommendations. It was always great to see a waiter or waitress who likes the food he or she serves to the guests.
