Had some pretty okay pasta and pizza at this place in Lena. It may be a place mostly for takeout but there's still a seating area inside there. Saporito's is one of the few places in town to get pizza or Italian whatsoever. A long time local hangout. The space inside may be limited but it has charm somehow. Coming in here to order we thought maybe the only choice was to get it to go. It's pretty small looking from the outside. They actually have a few tables. A cool thing is these have tomato cans. They put the food on top of these. It's about $6 for the spaghetti. The small portion is actually pretty big too. Basic looking as far as pasta goes to be honest. Pay another buck for each extra ingredient. We got it with mushrooms. Pizza is kind of basic. The prices for this are higher. Great thing there's not much of competition around. It's a place okay to bring families. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays. read more

Good tasting sausage and plenty of it but the pizza was really greasy. Sauce is ok but the salt taste is still lingering in my mouth.

Their house salad is to die for. The pizza is great and all but that salad is a work of art. I was expecting the normal pizza place salad with iceberg lettuce, a few cherry tomatoes and maybe a pepper. No. This thing was loaded with sausage, eggs, peppers. Amazing. read more

Dined in for spaghetti & meatballs and tortellini & sausage. Tasty sauce on both with noodles prepared Aldente (sp?). Meatballs are huge. Sausage likewise. Cheesy garlic bread a treat. Great value for the price in this small towny eatery. Will try the sandwiches next time. read more

Best pizza I've had in the Freeport/Lena area. They don't short you on toppings and the toppings are delicious. Not sure but I think they get their sausage from a local source. It is amazing sausage. The crust is always crispy. The sauce is always fresh and tasty. The cheese is slightly browned on top just the way I like it. The workers are very friendly. Bob4, says this is the best place for fantastic, and reasonably priced pizza. They don't skimp on the ingredients. We drive the 21 miles, it is that good. We get to Cedarville and then call Saporito's to order our pizzas and to reserve a table. It's a small place, usually we don't have a problem with seating because we usually get there shortly after it opens. The wife requests a small extra thin crust, mushroom and sausage pizza and I order a small extra thin crust, pepperoni and onion pizza, we have 2 cans of soda with the meal. This past Friday Dec 6, we wanted pizza so we did our usual thing, arriving in Lena, Il. When we leave, I always thank the pizza chef, verbally! And the wait staff is very attentive, They have a good amount of Italian items on the menu, but I have to admit, we love their pizza more! read more

Stopped by last night with my brothers after a day-long hunt in a nearby county. I'm from Chicago and eating pizza is a religon. You can say I'm a devout pizza eater. Had two thin crust pizzas, it was on point. Crust was nothing short of perfect. Sauce tasted great and it was the perfect amount. Cheese and toppings were fresh and added to the party in my mouth. One thing I appreciate most is great owner who loves what he does. It was clearly visible Joe took pride in his food, was compassionate towards his customers; something the big name Chicago shops completely neglect. I will most definitely return, this is a must stop for anyone in the neary area; using nearby loosely. I'm sure I will make occasionals trips out to Lena just for some delicious thin pizza. read more

I only get up to Lena once every couple of months to visit my in-laws, but when I do I try to convince the family to order pizza from Saporito's. Always good, always consistent. The staff is very friendly. Highly recommend. read more

I ordered a large Italian sausage pizza and when I went to get it I noticed none of the employees were wearing masks. During the pandemic, it would only make sense that anyone who is preparing food should be wearing a mask. Now about the pizza. When I got home and opened the box I saw that the cheese and sausage had all slid to the edges of the pizza. The center 2/3 of the pizza had nothing on it except grease. (Don't they drain the grease after browning the sausage?) I called about this and was told that "sometimes, when the pizza is real hot, the toppings will slide when transporting in a car." Now I'm almost 68 years old and this isn't the first pizza which I have order for carry out. This never happened before so I can only assume it was because of the fact that the pizza was covered in grease from the sausage. When I asked about why no employees were wearing masks I was told that "it is hard to talk on the phone while wearing a mask". I can understand that but why was no one wearing a mask. Don't tell me that they all answer the phone. I was also told that it was OK with the Stephenson County Board of Health. I doubt if the Board of Health gave an OK to food prep people to not wear masks. If so then my next Yelp review will be about the incompetence of the Board of Health. If the owners of Saporitos think so little of the health of their customers, their employees, their community, and their country then I will not be ordering any thing from their again. Nor will I be going to any restaurants which allow their employees to not wear masks. If you prepare or handle food then you should wear a mask. The health of the American People should mean more to you than the inconvenience of wearing a mask. I dislike wearing a mask but I wear one to try to help prevent the spread of the pandemic. Food service people should be required to wear one too. read more

I'm not as much a fan of their pizza as a lot of people in Lena are. I think the sauce is...I dunno..too spicy. I prefer a little sweeter sauce. But pizza is pizza and it's not bad. I really like their Italian beef. It is HUGE and very good. Their curly fries are a great side and added together that's a lot of food for about $7.00. I do wish they had regular fries, however. I like them more than curly. Their location is so-so. I've never eaten inside (always takeout) but it has a few tables and the kitchen is open so you can watch the chef work. It's a small building and it's sort of on a hill (makes me nervous for icy winter). read more

This place is a gem in the middle of nowhere. Lena is a charming midwest town with everything you'd expect. What we didn't expect was to find pizza this good. Home made ingredients and signature spicing all their own. Old fashioned customer service and a great product made for a very happy couple looking for dinner on a Sunday evening. And there's more to the menu than just pizza! Next time we will have to try something else! read more
