My husband wanted to bring me here for Mother's Day and we stopped and got my son who is 4 years old McDonald's he won't eat steak or rice. There was 3 people at the door I told her there's 3 of us but only 2 of us are eating and I wasn't hiding the bag it was in plain sight. The guy takes us over to the table lays out the menus and says "they will be with you shortly" we thanked him and sat down. While we're looking at the menu a woman comes over and says "we have a strict rule of no outside food, and there's signs all over the door that say so" I said "but the 3 people at the door seen we had it and seated us?" Confused. She said "I don't care if you would've read the doors you would've known" my husband says to me "that's fine, we will go somewhere else" she mutters "yea go f*cking somewhere else" I said "wow we don't have to have an attitude" she said "yea we don't have to have a f*cking attitude" and whips her head at my husband. We left and there were absolutely no signs on the doors. There were 2 signs for food allergies NOT outside food. That's besides the point now. Once we got back to the car I was in disbelief I decided to call and ask to speak to a manager. I started to tell him the timeline from when we walked in to when she came over, he cut me off and said "yes we do have a strict policy about no outside food" I said "sir I understand that, and that wouldn't have been an issue but you do not treat people that way, she cussed as us" he cut me off again and said "ma'am I assure you, she did not cuss at you" my husbands in the background saying "yes she did". And he kept saying it. He was being ignorant and not listening to what we were saying and wanting to argue. So I finally said "your restaurant is a f*ing joke" and hung up. read more

I've been here a couple of times with my family. The flow of operations is always smooth with the different staff serving. The ingredients are always fresh. I always get steak and its been beefy and juicy without any fat, gristle, or other questionable parts sometimes found on restaurant beef cuts. They are always good about hearing the family member with the special requests. No onion on anything means broth for soup and said family member is happy with that. They oblige on the fried rice by cooking her veg without onion on a separate part of the grill. The chefs we have had do a couple of the things that I guess is part of the experience? Ultimately, if you are looking for hibachi in Fort Wayne, Sapporo is worth your time. read more

My son and I ordered ribeye steaks, cooked medium. We didn't get steaks, but cut up meat over what I think was pasta. I said, "We ordered ribeye steaks." The server said sarcastically, "That is ribeye!" I should have walked out, or at least asked to speak with the manager I am not a hard to please person. Incidentally , I always give good service a tip of 30 per-cent or more. This happened about 3 or 4 years ago. I was going to try the restaurant again in a few days, but after having read the 1-star reviews about horrible service, I have changed my mind. read more

My family of four ate here on New Year's Eve. We had a 5:15 reservation & we were walking out of the restaurant at 6:10. It was a busy night for them, but they certainly had the the assembly line mentality in full effect. They were clearing our table off while we were still trying to finish our meals, so we took the hint and just left. Overall: The food was good quality & prepared well, but unfortunately the poor service makes this place a strong "do not recommend" from me. read more

Sapporo has had a tremendous following and is extremely busy restaurant on the North side. When we have sushi on the mind, it's hard to beat Asakusa. On Saturday night, I had sushi on the mind while the rest of the family was out of town. I headed to Asakusa, but the wait was an hour and they wouldn't let me sit at the bar. So..I made my way next door and Sapporo got me right in to sit at the sushi bar. It was a busy, happening place with a lot of fun in the air. I was served a cold beer and hot clear soup right away. The two sushi rolls came shortly after and hit the spot. The reason for the 4 stars is I think the prices are a wee bit high. In addition, there are so many customers, that I'm thinking service can be a little slow and tables/bar area isn't cleaned fast enough. Was looking for a hearty dinner. Went with my mom who doesn't eat much so we ordered a hibachi orange roughy dinner entree and an appetizer of agedashi tofu to share. This was plenty to share. Large bed of vegetables and a good sized fillet of fish. But as most hibachi foods, not a ton of flavor besides soy sauce/salt/chard bits. There was kind of a pool of oil/soy sauce at the bottom of the plate. Would recommend scooping up the steamed rice before it soaks up all that oil. The orange roughy was drier than I expected. The overall experience was good but not a 5/5. The server we had was okay but not super warm or friendly. I told her how I wanted my steak and couldn't hear her because of how loud the environment was. She then looked irritated and said "the chef will get it". I was just takin back by that. The food came out quickly to be prepared. The chef did a great job because our food was delicious! He also seemed annoyed the whole time especially when doing the typical "volcano" or tricks they do. His quickness for an answer on your steak temperature and how upset he looked when it took me a minute was crazy. He was fun with catching egg in our mouths though! My husband's steak he said was amazing but he got the filet. I got a regular steak and it tasted like just meat with no flavor. My shrimp, fried rice and vegetables were INCREDIBLE though! Their sprouts they put cabbage in and I did not like that at all. Such a strange combination of flavor for me. My husband got a rum and coke, it was strong! They do NOT do free birthday treats. They will charge you for the birthday treat if you tell them it is your birthday. The birthday treat is about $10 and it's a quarter of a pineapple and a few other items dessert items the plate. Definitely not worth the price. Overall, I would go to a different hibachi place because the service, quality of food and lack of hospitality. read more

A Covid19 takeout review. I ordered shrimp and chicken, it came with fried rice with veggies, I requested no soup or salad. That was my single take order. The total cost was $29.90. I appreciated the speed of my ordering process, the at car service, and the kind staff. I was a little dismayed by the total cost for one meal. The meal was good, but I'm not sure it was worth $29.90. My veggies were cooked a little too long, as they were no longer crisp but rather mushy. The rice was ok, not the best, but ok. I have a feeling that the in dining experience offers more in the taste and value department. I'm totally open to giving it one more try. Once the Covid19 restaurant restrictions are lifted, I'll be glad to try again and update accordingly. I will not order takeout in the interim. read more

We came on New Year's Day with a group of 9 when we were seated, we waited nearly 20 minutes before we were greeted by the waitress. Granted it was a very busy night and we understood that. We ordered our food and waited an additional 30 minutes before the cook came out, but the kitchen got our order wrong so we had to talk to the waitress about it to fix the mix up. During this entire exchange, our waitress was giving us attitude and rushed through the conversation, missing details in our order. So the conversation had to be longer than needed because we had to make sure both parties understood. When our cook, George, came out, he was very energetic and made sure our experience was amazing! Besides the typical tricks that the hibachi cooks usually do, George made great conversation with us and we really connected with him at the end of our dinner! Kudos to George :) In terms of the food, it was certainly overpriced for the quality of the food. The sushi tasted great, with good sauce and decent quality of fish. The hibachi food was overall salty, with lots of rice but little amounts of meat (we ordered filet mignon, lobster, shrimp, scallops). Only got a few pieces each. With the very long wait and less than impressive food quality + prices, would suggest you look else where for good food. read more

After eating at this restaurant for multiple years, at the end of the meal, mind you with terrible service. We were informed that we would be assessed an 18% gratuity. As I said never have we, daughter, youth, 2 toddlers and an infant being counted until today 6 paying people. When asked, it's always been on the menu, it has not!!!! Sapporo is a nice sushi and hibachi restaurant on the north side of Fort Wayne. Our server was very nice and on top of everything throughout the evening. They had a nice drink menu with some pretty tasty house cocktail options. The hibachi show itself was a little underwhelming in comparison to others that I've seen but, this wasn't a big deal. I felt safe health wise because the restaurant also did a good job social distancing everyone. I would definitely give this place a try if you're in the mood for hibachi. read more

Went here for a teens bday celebration. We usually got to the other hibachi place in Fort Wayne and I have to say it is sooo much better than Sapporo. We arrived at our reservation time, this is a must, We were seated and then waited for more guests to arrive. After all arrived the server took our drink order, came back with drinks then took our appetizer order. We waited forever for our apps. During this time the server took our main meal order and I am thinking our chef better not come out before our apps. And he didn't. He didn't come out for about 30' after we were seated. By the. The table had been done with our apps for awhile and drink refills weren't coming. The chef finally came and read our orders back to us. While he made sure my daughter felt special our server didn't when he brought the fruit plate out that is complimentary. The chicken hibachi was super dry and some of the veggies were still raw. The portions were very small. We did get a salad and soup first and these were so much more better than our food. We left disappointed and $100 in the hole for two people. However the sushi apps that we ordered before hand were very good. Small small rolls but they were tightly rolled and tasted fresh. Good family oriented restaurant. We met with some friends that have 5 children together as a blended family. My husband and I have toddler boys and they have 3 children un de the age of 6. The children were all mesmerized by the chef abilities setting an onion on fire and hiding an egg on his Chef hat! One of the kids had a food allergy and they prepare his entire meal separately and the meal arrived on time for the whole group to eat together. I'm half Japanese and have been looking for a decent sushi joint ever since I moved to Fort Wayne. One of the first places I went was Sakura, where I got violent food poisoning and subsequently stopped searching for a while. With both my husband and me vaccinated, we decided to venture out and try a new place. Big mistake. Cold sake was good and a decent price. Gyoza was good. Service was good. But the sushi was objectively terrible. We paid about $45 for four rolls. The rice was overcooked, mushy, and did not taste like sushi rice at all - it was basically a massive lump of rice mush. The fish was mealy, mushy, and tasted old. The only sushi item that was good was my eel temaki (hand roll). I was spared food poisoning this time. My husband was not. I think my search for sushi in Fort Wayne is at a disappointing end. Seriously, just got to AA Poke. read more

Came here for a friend's 30th birthday celebration and our food was decent, steak for our hibachi was definitely chewy and overdone but everything else was good. We told our server it was our friends birthday & they sang to her & brought out a pineapple boat & then she was charged $7 for it! We would've never told them it was her birthday if we knew it was an extra charge to be sang to & to get some fruit.
