Giving this place a 3.5 Stars. Mainly because of quantity to price ratio and some reasons below. Came here on a Friday night for dinner. Very busy and recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Staff is very friendly and service was surprising quick. Fish was good quality and generously portioned, however generally I do think everything was very overpriced compared to other locations in Boulder. Fried Calamari - Appetizer came out quickly and the calamari were sliced to decent sizes. However I personally didn't like the breading type. Also the calamari was quite bland. Avocado and Sweet Potato Rolls - Avocado pieces were generous. Rice wasn't too sweet. Sweet potato was fried well and had good eel sauce, however it was slightly undercooked. Again really surprised by how expensive these rolls are.. Chirashi Bowl - Fish was cut thick and was good quality. Favorite was the Escolar. It was sweet and fatty. Salmon was also really tender and fresh. Other fish were okay, but still good quality. Rice was also cooked fine, mushroom was really well flavored However I'm still not sure that a 10pc (referring to fish only) Chirashi bowl is worth the $33. We recently moved to the area and have been here 4+ times - every time it's been great! Super fresh we love the sushi and sushi/sashimi entrees and usually add a couple extra pieces a la carte based on what we're in the mood for. Best rice we've had in the area and the fish tastes super fresh and is always well presented. Plus they have a kids menu that our 3 year old loves. Always have a great playlist going. Not enough food, even for lunch, and I'm not a big eater. I'd prefer they keep the price point and add 2 more pics of fish and a small salad... $18 would be perfect for 10pc Sashimi, soup, salad. I had a large take-out order. Everything was tasty and beautifully created! Some people said that it's expensive. I don't know. I did eat at another highly rated sushi place close by recently and was disappointed at the ambiance, the room temperature, the taste, and the portions. Not so at Sapporo. Everything was much better! However, I would really enjoy a sushi place that was quiet and well lit -- more Japanese style than American style. Although I came for take-out, I could tell that the ambiance was not my favorite. Some gentle background music would be much better. Loud pop music seems so out of place when the food should be the focus. Maybe I'm just out of touch with current culture. And why dimly lit? Sushi, properly prepared, is a feast for the eyes! I want to see my food! But, maybe you prefer the American style of sushi restaurants. I will continue to enjoy buying their take-out, but I don't think I'd enjoy eating there. read more

First let me say that the service was excellent, no problems there. We had salmon and yellowtail sashimi, unagi, rainbow roll and a shrimp tempura appetizer. The unagi came cold, and we told our server. He fixed that in record time with a new order of warm unagi. We was not impressed by the sashimi, especially the yellowtail. It was not sliced carefully - just a small slab of fish. The sashimi could have been presented better. The yellowtail was tough, had some skin on it, and we did not enjoy it. The manager did not come over to apologize about the unagi, as is general practice in American restaurants and is good for business. Lastly, the price: $67.50 before tax and tip. For two people and a not so big dinner, that is too much. It's Boulder prices, but this is Erie. The decor is similar to the decor at Sumo Sushi on Ken Pratt in Longmont, but I do not know if it is owned by the same folks. Given that we live in a part of Erie that pretty much is in between both restaurants, I will prefer going there. Their presentations are much better, the chairs and tables more comfortable, and if there is a problem with anything, the manager will come over. read more

My husband loves their sushi and says it's so far the best he's tasted in the area -- I still prefer the sushi place down the road. Beyond that, their food is very good. The teriyaki meals aren't drenched in a gooey sauce; it's more like a very light seasoning. If that's your preference, you'll love this place. It definitely gives off the "this is healthier" vibe but sometimes you just want all the teriyaki so for me, this would be my second pick if we were going to have Japanese food but for my husband, this is number one. read more

It's so hard to find a good sushi place in Colorado that has both great variety and FRESH fish. Me and my bf were delightfully surprised by how fresh the fish was. This will become a new favorite for us! Everything we had was great, however the Ramen there was rather average (not good or bad) and we were kinda disappointed about it (we were super excited when we saw Volcano ramen on the menu). So my wife and I were delighted for this place to open, i think most of erie was. I have visited 3 times now and the experience went from great, unpleasant, to no thank you. 1st visit was great, they had a wonderful manager Bryan and our server Chase was on point. My wife and I laughed so much thanks to Bryan, he was very accomodating and took the time to go around and talk to everyone even though it was packed! (Friday evening). My wife signed up for their rewards list and we talked rest of the evening about our new favorite restaurant! Many of our neighbors visited and were also happy and mention the funny manager they had there! We told them to sign up for their rewards list so we can all get promotions! Second visit was a mix of good and bad, as usual Bryan was friendly and we chatted about his home country (i was stationed in korea). Our server was an asian woman with glasses, she was so so, service was a bit slow but Bryan got us our drink at last (10 mimute wait? Our server was busy but 10 minutes for drinks is an eternity!). We order some sashimi and etc. Their salmon had bones in it, my wife and I, both were stabbed by them while chewing and we both stopped eating after. We didnt say anything since mistakes happen, but we threw the food away ($50 leftover). So we were disappointed but hopeful, new restaurant has some kinks, plus this is colorado, we go to Uchi often so quality and taste really isnt even comparable, so what made us happy were the service and friendly staff (mostly the manager, chase was awesome too). Third visit was last week, it was nice to see them busy but our table was dirty and the floor was a mess. Bryan was running around, but he came by to say whats up and told us he would come by later. Chase was our server again, i figured we got our two favorites this should be a good date night! We wanted to mix it up so we ordered hot food this time. Before our food even came out, I saw a lady (she must be owner?) yelling in the dinning hall when its almost at capacity. Everyone was looking and whispering, my wife and I thought, how unprofessional. And we felt bad for Chase and this went on for our whole meal. She was basically screaming at him, even behind the bar (their music is semi loud so she was screaming in order for us to hear her clearly). Looked like Bryan was getting in between and calming them both down. He does seem geuinely a nice person, he went around and apologized about the commotion and slow service since Chase was all of a sudden not our server, instead the screaming lady was. Hot food was okay at best (ramen, fried rice). Honestly this turned us off pretty bad but Bryan was kind and told us to come back it won't happen again. We offered Bryan a $20 tip, but he said no thank you and asked us to just take care of his servers, which I found very commanding as a leadership position looking out for his staff! Well, it seems Bryan is no longer there. Our server this time around told us he is no longer the manager. Well, there goes the hospitality. We had a quick bite, skipped on drinks, and left. No one said good bye and the host up front was rude at best. This will be our last visit, food is okay at best, we came for the friendly service and a nice manager. Im sure I wasn't the only person who enjoyed his company and his funny banters! We can get this food anywhere else and meh service also. It was close to home, but we don't mind driving since we are used to it. When we talked to our neighbors after our last visit, they basically said the same. They like the convenience and the vibe, food is average. Pretty sure they'll go elsewhere since it has already degraded in service (they also said of similar experience when they went in this friday, slow service, one of the rolls were missing, and no manager checking quality and entertaining guest). It is a coin flip between here and Aji, we are just going to spend more and drive further. Hopefully the next sushi restaurant will be consistent, very bummed about this. read more

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful the sushi is here. I can't believe it's in our Erie/Lafayette area. The service is amazing. We celebrated my son's birthday and they truly went all out. We highly recommend and hope you give it a try. It's truly incredible.
