    3 tacos de asada
    Nadine A.

I was really craving some Mexican seafood with the warmer weather and was particularly trying to find a good filete zarandeado. This place came up with good ratings and options I wanted to try. It was local to where I was visiting and also had options for my partner who does not enjoy seafood like I do, so we gave it a try. It's located in a small plaza between a tattoo parlor and hair salon. There was plenty of parking because the nearby businesses weren't open at that time. It also wasn't busy for mariscos on a late Saturday afternoon. When we walked in, we were greeted and able to sit anywhere. There were plenty of tables and bar tops. A DJ booth was also being set up. They had music and sports playing on the TVs. The menu is pretty expansive, but I had to keep it simple to satisfy my craving. I had to choose between a $32 filete zarandeado plate or $16 ceviche mixta. I frequent another mariscos in the SGV and these prices were double what I'm used to paying. I usually get both items and take the leftover hot food home, but at this price point, it was a gamble and I wasn't convinced to go all out. I ended up going with the ceviche mixta and my partner got 3 asada tacos at $6 each. We also ordered a michi to enjoy with the complimentary "nachos" (tortilla chips topped with refried beans and cotija cheese plus green and red salsa on the side). The michelada was just ok for $10. It wasn't very cold. My drink was room temperature, which made it hard for me to enjoy. Perhaps refrigerating the clamato would help. Other than that, the flavor and beer selection was good. The ceviche was a huge portion and came dressed with salsa. I was not a fan. It was good, don't get me wrong because I ate it all, but I prefer to add my own level of spice and sauce. Some extra limes instead of cucumber chunks and orange slices would have been a more practical garnish. Being a mixed ceviche, I expected there to be more fish variety, but it was only octopus and shrimp. I also should have asked for more cilantro and onion for added flavor and texture. The portion and quality alone are technically "worth" the price, but this did not hit the spot like I was anticipating. Especially paired with a warm beer. My partner's asada tacos were exactly what he looks for in good tacos - handmade tortillas and generous toppings of guacamole. The downside to his experience is that they used salsa that was too spicy for his enjoyment. It would have been nice to have a say in the spice level or having the salsa come on the side. He also recommended double tortillas for the amount of meat and price point. 2 micheladas, 3 asada tacos, and a ceviche mixta ran us just under $60. This place definitely has potential to be great because of the quality and portions. It just missed the mark for my own personal preferences and expectations. Perhaps that's my own fault for not reading more into the menu, but I definitely wasn't going to be nitpicking my drink and food to make it the perfect experience. Better luck next visit.

Service, Food and ambiance on Friday nights are the best. You can't be mad at Kareokanta nights! Hands down the best food regardless of your food platter. The service is always great and we're happy to have them around the corner. If you're ever around the Disneyland/Anaheim area please stop by and support this authentic Mexican food restaurant. Today's choice: Shrimp Fajitas [request to have them remove the tails] Sides: white rice, beans and fresh salad. Food was too good, was too hungry to take pictures! But trust me you won't regret it.

Great tacos! I saw the good reviews on Yelp and gave them a shot. Glad I did. I ordered two shrimp tacos at $6.50 each. Not cheap, but nice and full of ingredients, and made with homemade tortillas. The first was a taco gobernador. I've had many iterations of these in Baja, and the one here did not disappoint. It wasn't as cheesy, and didn't have the larger plump shrimp, nor the spicier sauce, but it hit the mark in its own way. A very tasty taco to bring back Ensenada. The second was an Ensenada style fish taco. I thought it was going to have the battered fish, but instead had battered shrimp, so a second shrimp taco. This was overflowing with cabbage and sauces, and nicely filled with small breaded shrimp. Another excellent taco. Two tacos filled me up just fine. My friend had a baja grilled fish taco, a chicken taco, and rice and beans. He loved the fish, and said the chicken was pretty good, but would get two fish next time. He really liked the grilled onions and peppers on top. As soon as you are seated they bring chips with a watery, but tasty, red salsa, and a thicker, creamy avocado salsa. The chips have a runny bean coating on top, also tasty. We commented on the tasty green salsa, and the server asked if we wanted to take some to go. She brought some in a paper bag with chips, on the house. Friendly service, good food, and a nice atmosphere. Not the cheapest place around, but you'll get better food and greater quantity.

Small hidden restaurant but good . This place is small but cozy. The staff is super sweet and attentive. The food is fresh and clean . Love getting their oysters, shrimp fajitas and tacos al gobernador. Love cooking with the fam here

First time going here and it was so nice. The food was so delicious. I would come here again. Daniela was my server and she was sweet muchas gracias. The agua frescas were so good too. I recommend this to new comers

Tucked away place, but plenty of parking. Good big space. Good mole. Generous portion. Very nice service. Will come back and give the other things on the menu a try.

    Spicy fish fillet. So good.

One of the best meals we've had in awhile. My wife had chicken enchiladas and I had spicy fish fillet. Soooo flavorful! Generous portions of rice and beans, handmade corn tortillas. Doesn't get much better than this. Our wait person was super friendly and the music entertainment was lively and fun. We would come back here in a heartbeat. :)

Seafood tostada. What's left of the chips with beans. Yum

As you walk in you're greeted and the service is beyond good. The tortilla chips smothered with homemade beans and Cotija cheese are one of the best. The salsa were amazing. I will caution if you don't like spicy sauce. Make sure you ask for the salsa that aren't too spicy, but I myself prefer spicy. The Michelada was pretty spectacular. I had a seafood tostada that was very good and didn't disappoint. I usually get their beef stew, but felt that it was too warm for that, but I also highly recommend it. If you're a fan of Menudo, this is definitely your place, one of the best and it's served every day. They make their own homemade tortillas! I have had several dishes there and can say that is about as close to homemade as you can get! It will not disappoint.

Barbacoa, carnitas, al pastor, and asada

Looking for a street-style taco? Look elsewhere, this is not the place. You can see it from the price point nearly twice the price of street tacos. But if you're looking for a good taco, with more premium meats and ingredients, then you won't be disappointed. I have just tried them once, and immediately spreading the news! And ordering to go as well. The asada is succulent, the al pastor is finger-licking good, and the carnitas is delicious, generous and well-charred. Definitely will come again. Edit: tried the burrito, it doesn't have what makes the tacos so special. The taco was so special, i sometimes think of them for no reason at all.

This place was recommended by a friend and he was right. This place is a hidden gem with delicious food. It has become my boyfriend and my breaksfast/lunch place for Sundays. Customer service is top notch, all very attentive. Place is clean. Parking in the front and back of restaurant. We have tried the enchiladas Michoacanas, chilaquiles, fish tacos, calabacias al Mexicana taco, constillas en salsa verde, chavidecas and carnitas plate. Food is fresh and love the hand made tortillas. Will definitely keep going to try need food and the mariscos

It did have a slightly different twist from what I personally consider traditional, but I absolutely loved it! We ordered tostadas with salsa, shrimp aguachile, chile relleno, and chicken mole. Everything tasted freshly made. The tortillas were incredibly good, the tostadas had amazing flavor, and the salsa was phenomenal with the perfect medium spice level for me since I don't eat very spicy food. It also had a delicious garlic flavor. For drinks, we ordered a michelada that honestly surprised us because it was exactly how we like it, and a Maya-Tai that had a delicious smoky flavor. The only reason I'm not giving a perfect score is because I would have liked the food to be served hotter. It wasn't cold, but it wasn't really hot either. Our server, Justine, wasn't rude at all, but she did come across a little cold and very straight to the point, almost like she didn't really want to be there, and it showed. Completely different from our host, Maddy, who was absolutely lovely. We had great conversation with her and she gave us amazing recommendations!

Came in for a little date night on a Saturday evening. The whole staff was friendly and accommodating, always quick to refill drinks or clear empty plates. We started off with some delicious and spicy oysters which were topped with a shrimp! We also had to try the Chori-brussels which are flash fried Brussels sprouts with chorizo, balsamic reduction, and Oaxacan cheese. For drinks we got a Santo Dia, a whiskey based cocktail with watermelon, lime, and fizz served over ice. We also ordered the Spicy margarita which had watermelon habanero, lime, and hibiscus flavors. They were both delicious and refreshing, the spicy marg had a good kick to it. For dinner we got a caesar salad, the ribeye plate, and the Urbana burger. We both loved the dressing on the caesar, it's made in house and it shows. The ribeye was cooked perfectly with a delicious herb butter on top, a really good steak sauce on the side, and thick cut fries. The ribeye wasn't the highest quality but it tasted good, the fries were perfect. My fiancé got the burger which had chorizo, melted queso Oaxaca, and an egg on top. Not gonna lie it was absolutely delish! I want to come back just for the burger. All in all we had a great time and I would definitely come back for some other menu items, especially to try more of their margs and specialty cocktails. Thanks Urbana!
