The pictures look a heck of a lot better than what they actually tasted like. For $7, I don't think it was worth what I could have got for $4.50 at QuikTrip. Chocolate chip cookie- Quiktrip has a similar cookie for $1.99. The cookie from Sarah's was $3. I was shocked that QuikTrip's cookies tasted more homemade than the one I got here. The only positive from the Sarah's cookie was that it wasn't overly sweet. However, the flat bland taste would not make me want to get it again. 1/5 Oreo Brownie- From the look of the picture, the presentation is like wow that's just has to taste awesome. Wrong, I would have done better eating the box it came in. The Oreo top layer tasted like hard playdough and the actually brownie was horrible ; like chocolate flavored Styrofoam. 0/5 Where is Mr Yuck (Yuk) when you need him!!!? Sarah's Cake Stop was outside my work this afternoon, so despite me not being much of a sweets guy, I knew the beautiful wife wouldn't mind me bringing home a cupcake or two. For $3.00, you get a normal sized cupcake -- they're not the monsters that Jilly's sells, but they're also half the price. So I bought a Bananas Foster and chocolate snack cake. We shared both of them -- the Bananas Foster had a piece of dried banana on top, but that was about the only banana aspect of it. Really, it was about the only thing reminding either of us of Bananas Foster. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything exciting. The chocolate snack cake one was way better (but then again, chocolate tends to win over boring) -- a really good "tons of chocolate" cupcake. They both were moist and tasted really fresh, so that was a major plus. They had a Pink Cosmo flavor (which now I wish I had purchased) and I see on their website they offer a Guinness chocolate (which should get them bumped up to 4 stars). Holy. Crap. French Toast cupcake with candied bacon on top?! YES PLEASE. Seriously *super* awesome concept and perfect execution. When I saw this truck parked outside of the SLU library the other day I jumped with joy! I didn't really care for the Sweet Divine too much (but in fairness most of their cupcakes were sold out when I got there) so I was pumped for Sarah's. The lady working in the truck was very nice and helpful even though I had suuuuch a hard time deciding which cupcake I wanted. I only got two things--the French Toast cupcake and the Cheesecake dome...thingy...with chocolate on top. I mostly purchased the cheesecake thing for Sean since he likes cheesecake, but he ended up not even eating this because there was no graham cracker crust on the bottom and that's what "makes cheesecake" according to him, lol. He also didn't like the chocolate on top even though I tried to scrape it off for him. Oh well. Can't please everyone! But yeah, I had a hard time deciding...next time I will be trying the tiramisu for SURE though because damn, it sounded good. If it's anything like the F.T. cupcake, I will be in heaven. Two for one, score! I ordered a brownie, a red velvet cupcake, and a snack cake cupcake (chocolate with chocolate and vanilla frosting, a la Hostess cupcake). It wasn't all for me! The red velvet was for myself. It was super good - moist, and the frosting was THE BEST. The cake part could've had a little more flavor, but the frosting sold it for me. The brownie, which I got to try, was moist with fudge frosting and sprinkles. I could have done without the sprinkles. They take away from the homemade flavor, in my opinion. Sarah's cake shop is my favorite cupcake place in St. Louis. I don't think they won "cupcake wars" like Sweet Divine and Jilly's, but in my opinion, Sarah's is the BEST!! I have had the cake balls from Sarah's on numerous occasions and they never disappoint, so I figured this was the place to go for a smash cake and some cupcakes for my daughter's first birthday. Unfortunately, I was incredibly disappointed. The customer service was wonderful. The designer worked with the theme I wanted and both the cake and cupcakes turned out beautiful!!! Where the problem comes in is the actual cake itself. Both the cake and all the cupcakes were DRY. Very dry. Like, made three days prior and sat, dry. If that's not the case, and my custom order was made that day, their recipe needs some serious work. For what I paid, I was super bummed that everything was so mediocre. I worked a lot of events last summer throughout the county where the food truck would show up. People would always come to my booth with treats from Sarah's because they loved it so much. I never actually tried the place until a few months ago for the first time when my friend wouldn't stop talking about it. Then I went there recently to see what they had in store. I first went in there for the glitter bites because that was all I was familiar with, but I ended buying some other things from the menu. They were all delicious but so sugary! I ate my first treat while in the shop and managed to befriend the employees working the register while I was there. They were so friendly and out going that I ended up being there for a little over an hour. It gets expensive when you buy a lot, but when you buy just single pieces it's not bad at all. I would suggest the glitter bites, they're my favorite thing from the bakery. If you're someone who can eat cookie dough alone try the cookie truffle. It's literally chocolate chip cookie dough covered in chocolate on the outside. It's delicious! This is definitely one of my favorite dessert places in St. Louis! read more

The thing that I love about these cupcakes is that they aren't overwhelmingly sweet. Some cupcakes are so just sweet, either in their frosting or the cupcake itself, that you can't take more than a couple bites without being overwhelmed. Sarah's Cake Stop strikes the right balance here with their selection of cupcakes. I got recommended the butter cream frosting as a less sweeter choice, so while I'm sure my heart is feeling the consequences of not buying one, but TWO cupcakes last Thursday afternoon (I have some issues with variety and indecision), at least my taste buds were in an agreeable mood. I'm not sure if I was just a little out-of-it that day or not but I felt like I had some trouble distinguishing between the two cupcakes I ordered (they were chocolate and strawberry). Or maybe I just got so caught up in the butter cream frosting that I just ignored everything else. I have already updated my current crush to reflect my new adoration, but feel quite liberated. Normally if I am interested in someone, I might try to make him aware of my interest, but never would I announce my crush on any internet site. However, in this instance, I'm all in. It's out there for everyone to know. I am. In love. Unfortunately, it is with a cupcake and not a nice man, but my cupcake will always treat me well. On my way into Fenton, I noticed that Sarah's Truck was stopped at the Scholastic warehouse. I got the address and convinced my GPS to take me there. Mayhem may or may not have invaded because I kept getting turned around, lost and yelled at. Finally, I spotted the big yellow truck, and though I was now running late for my appointment, texted our own Allison B with the flavor choices and ordered a few to take back to my side of the river. $3 is on the expensive side for an individual cupcake, but I will definitely be chasing this truck down again. Vanilla Creme Brulee cupcake was beyond delicious. I remember the first time I tasted Creme Brulee. I was a fun loving college co-ed, who was in Palm Springs for a fraternity convention. Before you get excited, it was a professional co-ed fraternity, and for the most part, attendees weren't looking for a big party. Me, though? I had a blast drinking-and-sunning... sunning-and-drinking... and flirting with all the hot guys I ran into contact with. The last night of the convention, there was a formal event. Dinner, drinks & dancing made for a fantastic night. My fake ID came in really handy. But back to the point. We were served creme brulee for dessert, and I can still picture that amazing goody. This cupcake brought me back to that fun time in my life, but despite how much I loved that brulee, this cupcake was BETTER. The cake was the perfect consistency. It was moist, yet substantial. The buttercream was thick, rich and buttery. The crunchy bruleed sugar on top offered a little crunch, and meshed perfectly with aspects of the cupcake. I hadn't realized that there was a filling to the thing, but oh, googley moogley, it added so much. This is a cupcake that truly offered a flavor profile that it was meant to. It was perfect. Delicious. The Snack Cake was great too. It doesn't get a whole lot better than a deliciously rich chocolate cake, filled with decorators frosting with such a high sugar content, it was a little crunchy and topped with vanilla butter cream and chocolate ganache. Oh, and an adorable little squiggle of decorators frosting on top as well. The vanilla buttercream was not as pleasing as the buttercream on the Creme Brulee cupcake, but was still enough to make it a great cupcake. The Salted Caramel is one of the best sellers, and was very good, but the only thing I would change is to add a little salt on top. The caramel was delicious, and the entire top of the caramel cake was brushed in caramel, as was the caramel buttercream, but it lacked in the salt flavor in my opinion, and would have been made better with a slight punch of salty to counteract the sweet. Allison B. seemed to really enjoy this cupcake, as did my mama. I thought that SweetArt was my favorite cupcake establishment in St Louis, but my mind has changed! Sarah's Cupcake Truck is my new deity. Looking at their website, I am struck by two things. First of all, the Creme Brulee cupcake is not listed, and I am concerned that it is a one-off. It better not be, Sarah's! Secondly, there are so many other flavors I would love to try... Chocolate Cookie, Chocolate Caramel Pretzel, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Almond Jo, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Chocolate Caramel. Oooooh, the Sweet N Salty looks amazing, too. They were a little stand offish and weren't excited to help me ... And I was the only customer in the tiny room. I couldn't tell if that was all the cupcakes the had in the displays or if more were elsewhere. Turns out more are elsewhere. They weren't particularly helpful and seemed almost annoyed I was buying cupcakes. The gooey butter was the best thing,but had a glob of cream cheese buttercream? It looked and tasted like something out of a jar. Tried their cupcakes and brownies at Food Truck Friday, and WOW! The cupcakes aren't overly sugary and are evenly balanced between cake and icing. I tried the snack cake and the salted caramel ones. I couldn't tell you which I enjoyed more because they were both tasty. However, the reese's pb cup brownie blew me away! I have stopped by (more like stalked) the Sarah's Cake Stop truck 4 times now...for myself and my family. We've tried 6 flavors and have not been disappointed once. Until now...I've never given a second thought to cupcakes...in fact if I had been offered one I'd turn it down. Until I tried the salted caramel on my first visit to the truck. Oh. Em. Gee. Moist flavorful cake with an frosting to die for...and I'm not an frosting fan. I've since tried cherry limeade (my sisters fav), strawberry cheesecake, and red velvet (my daughters fave). My now husband and I ordered our wedding cake with this bakery. During our consultation, the woman who worked there informed us that they couldn't do any of the ideas we suggested, the main one we wanted being a naked cake.. So we settled for a lightly iced cake-which is not what we received. So on the big day, during the reception, we are informed that they smashed/ruined our cake-I couldn't believe it. They still dropped it off and the caterers tried to fix it. The bakery couldn't even help to fix what they broke. They did however bring a fake cake for pictures-but that isn't the same. They also shorted us a tier-we ordered a three tier cake and got the middle tier and the smallest tier that was to be saved for the first anniversary. It was a horrible experience working with them. When my husband called to complain and talk to the owner, he was told she would call back-still no word. We also have a friend who works in the bakery-that's how we heard of them, who they are yelling at because we complained. She told us we wouldn't get a refund. So the owner can't even own up and return a customers phone call. Very disappointed and will never ever Give my business or recommend them to anyone. read more

I kept hearing about Sarah's from friends but didn't get to try one until Food Truck Friday. We tried a french toast cupcake with bacon on it and a snack cake cupcake - we also got a cake pop. The bacon cupcake was OK. It was good but not my favorite - the snack cake was heavenly - the best cupcake I've had in a very very long time. The cake pop was the only real disappointment - the cake was very very mushy and it fell right off the stick so I had to try to eat it with my hands and it just didn't work very well.
