Honest mechanics that perform excellent work. Scott and his staff don't just fix the one broken problem, they diagnose your whole car and tell you what needs to be fixed. Of course, if you only want to fix the one thing, the that's all the work they're going to do. Prices are competitive and they have excellent service. At Sarandos they try to rebuild parts or buy used parts to save $$ where they can. They are listed in the Car Talk list of preferred mechanics. I've been coming here for over four years and wouldn't take my cars anywhere else. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because they usually take longer to complete repairs than estimated. read more

I totally recommend this shop to anyone in the area. He performed a manual transmission fluid drain and fill on my 2013 Acura ILX on short notice too as the fluid was way overdue for replacement. I brought my car in for the Maryland State Inspection after getting a decent quote over the phone for $62 with a 1-2 hour time requirement. I had an 8am appointment on a weekday. First, there was no one in the office when I went in. I found a mechanic and he eventually got the receptionist to help me, after asking if I had an appointment. She did some paperwork and stated it would take at least 3 hours, which was not what we were quoted at all. On the paperwork she wrote it would be checked out by noon and said it would probably be done sooner. I went to get something out of my car and when I came back I couldn't find her yet again. I told the mechanic I left the keys on the counter and left. Here's the problem, noon rolled around and no call. My husband ended up calling them and they couldn't or wouldn't give him a timeframe of when it would be done. The man on the phone kept saying he would call when it was done. So we are 4 hours past our appointment time at this point. Finally we went in to get it at 1:30p, still no call, because this was ridiculous. My car was done, sitting near the road with the window down. The receptionist was weird and unable to say if the car was done or if it passed or even make eye contact. She just said someone would come talk to us. Finally one of the mechanics, I assume, came and explained that it was done but needed minor repairs to be able to pass. Repairs which they already did, without consulting us. And the amount for the inspection was not what we were quoted. We ended up just paying so we could be done with this shop. They made recommendations for other repairs that were unnecessary. We had just taken the car into another mechanic, one we wish did state inspections, that did not even discuss these recommended repairs. The receptionist stated they would submit the Inspection via email later that day or tomorrow. After paying I asked for the keys, since she didn't offer them to us, and she said she thinks they were in the car but if not come back and she will look for them. What?! They were in the car luckily. The reviews all over the office are at least 5 years old, so maybe at one point they may have been a decent business. Unprofessional, sketchy, and unable to even contact their customers that they claim to value. To top it all off they did not submit the State Inspection, wasting our time yet again as we went to the DMV to register the car. They had time to mail us a Thank You note but did not actually submit the paperwork we paid for. Needless to say, we will not be using them again. read more

I spent a lot of money here when I took my 2010 Mazda 3 to get inspected. They were upfront about the MD inspection being pretty rigorous and they were right. I wouldn't go again because I found a MD inspection at a gas station that was about a third of the price. I feel like they gauged me at Sarandos. read more

Brought a car in for a state inspection. They never returned calls and had the car for over 2 weeks. Finally they said it was done and had completed unauthorized repairs. The mechanic said it would be $2000. When we said that was ridiculous he said we could pay in cash for a discount. He eventually agreed to take back the parts he "fixed" and we brought it to another mechanic who charged $800 total. One of the worst experiences ever and out of a car for 2+ weeks with no improvements in the end. Would avoid at all costs! read more

We first found Sarandos when my Grandmother used them. She has been a regular customer. Then my parents started using him. Eventually I needed someone to take a dent out of my bumper. They did a good job and it was a good experience. So when I needed a new alternator I did not hesitate to come back. Scott (the owner) was very nice and even stayed late to do my car. He explained my options and I picked the one with the lifetime warranty. I would highly recommend to anyone. read more

I went here to get my tires rotated and get new windshield wipers. Within a week my tire pressure light went on and I had to take my car to another shop where they told me it was because the tires were all at uneven angles from the rotation. Next my new left windshield blade flew off my car while I was driving. Horrible service don't waste your time. read more

Over priced Maryland State Inspection!!! They Claim The Base Fee Is $180 When Others Charge Less. I Wasn't Aware When Trying To Find A Good Place To Get My 2015 Chevy Trax Inspected. It Was Very Disappointing That I Made An Appointment For 1pm And Didnt Get My Car Worked On Until Almost 3pm. Nice People But Very Overpriced Inspection Base Fee And Lacking Organization. read more

do not ever go to these guys. i brought my car in on monday @ 7:30am and now its wednesday and i still don't have my car! it looks like i won't have it at least until friday! they refuse to release my car because they claim it is in parts. how is that possible when everytime i called for an update, they claimed that they didn't look at it yet? scott is rude, condescending and very unprofessional towards women. a repair that started at a "couple of hundred dollars" for a piston/spark plugs has now escalated into a $2,450 bill. these guys are rip-off artists! they jack up the price with a laundry list of things that you "have to" have done! i will take my car elsewhere! i will not have these thieves work on my car! ever! and neither should you! i recommend that you stay away from this place - not only do they keep your car for days ( with no calls or explanation as to why) but they are nasty and bitter if you refuse to okay the work and ask for your car back. i refuse to do business with thieves and i refuse to pay for terrible service. read more

i wish i could give this business a negative number. i was having issues with noise in the right wheel area, valve tapping, AC fan not working, etc. i saw a good review on Yelp for Sarandos. i called and made an appt. took my car in and spoke with Wes. i gave them previous receipts from other mechanics for reference. i was told it would be ready that evening. i had a Platinum after market Warranty which they said they had no problem with utilizing. Initially, I was not able to get my car back for three days. in that time i was told that the noise was most likely the front differential. also low fluid in the rear differential. tapping noise in the front and they couldn't duplicate the knocking noise in the front wheel. they asked for me to drop it off the following week so they could have it for a cold start . i did so and called throughout the day to get info on status. i showed up at the shop and the car was still on the upper lot and hadnt been touched again. Scott the owner drove it down and was able to duplicate the tapping noise which he said was two cracks in the manifold. he said what sounded like valve tapping was probably pinging and the EGR valve could be the problem. that was an additional two days at his shop. i believe that that final 5th day was the only time Scott had actually looked under my car to diagnosis anything. when i left he said he would be writing up the info for the warranty company and call them the following morning. i reached out the following two days and nothing happened. Scott went on vacation and did not follow up with me. i stopped by the shop the following Wednesday to get my paper work from my previous mechanic and was switched back and forth between people. Wes told me that Scott had taken my info on vacation with him. He called Scott to ask about my paperwork and Scott told him that he was working up an estimate and would be calling the warranty company. i refused to talk with Scott since i had no confidence in him. my paperwork was basically being held hostage. i later received a text from Scott say "I'm sorry things aren't working out the way you want it" my expectation was to take my car in for the appointment and receive a diagnosis. NOT have to leave my car with a shop for a total of five days and be no farther along than i was three weeks ago. During that period of time my car sustained grease marks along the lower door jam from their boots scuffing, grease on my cloth seat. I could not be more disgusted with a business. This is the poorest customer service i have every had. The slowest business i have every dealt with. in my honest opinion i believe all i did was receive lip service instead of any kind of actual service. i have taken my business elsewhere and i advise all others to do the same. read more

Sarandos treats his customers awful. I took both of my cars there for a Maryland inspection after moving to the state. The first one, which had 110,000 miles on it came out fine, although it took about 5 hours to complete the inspection. Then a couple of weeks a later I took the second car in to him. He ended up keeping the car for a week. He wouldn't return my phone calls or speak with me in person when I called to find out the status of the vehicle so I literally had to go over to the shop and confront him! At that point he was very nice and agreed that he would have the car done by the following evening. Then, after all of this and $1200 later I still had to take the car back in because of additional problems related to the work his mechanics did. I WILL NOT go to this place again! read more

This auto repair shop is a rip off!!! DO NOT take your car there unless you want to be scammed!!! I brought in my car to have the transmission checked and they "supposedly" did a bumper to bumper check of my car and wanted me to pay $89.00 for the "diagnostic" work they did before they would tell me what they found. I didn't ask for a bumper to bumper "check" I ONLY brought it in for the transmission. I was willing to pay the $89.00 just to get my car out but I said I would report them to the BBB. The owner then went ballistic and said "get out" and tried to kick me out of the shop and refused to release my vehicle to me (even though I had said I would pay the unnecessary $89.00 charge). I ended up having to call 911 because I was fearful of what he might do to me or my car. I sat in the car waited about 15 minutes and the owner called me back into the shop. He said (as if he were doing me a favor) he would "ONLY" charge me $25.00 for the "fluids" he put in the car!!!! What fluids???? I came in for a transmission check!!!! Why were you putting "fluids" into my car without my consent. I paid the $25.00 and got out of there. The police came and I explained the whole saga to them and nothing happened (other than me getting ripped off!!!). I NEVER did find out what Sarando's "diagnosed" was wrong with the car. OH the topper for all this is he KEPT my car for 1 week for his "diagnostics" work!!! Stay away from this garage it is a SCAM!!!!! read more
