I was originally a bit skeptical after reading the mixed reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor - fortunately, we ended up having a great experience here! My husband and I found the cottage quite spacious and pleasant. It was modern, clean, nicely decorated, and well-furnished. The cottage consisted of a living room, kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom, patio, and swimming pool. We enjoyed lounging poolside one afternoon and I enjoyed a swim. We ended up having the pool all to ourselves, which was a pleasant surprise! The owners Jeannette and Bill live in the adjacent house and are an older couple who are polite, friendly, and professional. One thing to keep in mind is that they are not tech savvy - when I called to make a reservation, I requested an email confirmation and learned that Jeanette doesn't use email! (She offered to send me a confirmation via US Mail.) Also, be aware that they don't accept credit cards, and payment has to be made with cash or check. There was a silver lining to the owners not being tech savvy - when I started looking for accommodations a month prior to our late September visit, I discovered most hotels and B&Bs in Calistoga were fully booked - Valley Oak Inn was not (I expect that was at least in part due to the fact they don't do online bookings!). And the property had a pool, hot tub, fire pit, BBQ. The owners live in the house down stairs and there is a small cabin (house) that they also rent out. So theirs never more than 4-6 guests and kids are not allowed. Big plus is they are an affordable option which is hard to find in Napa Valley. But I kept coming back and perusing the houses at jennervacationrentals.com. We both love Jenner and I thought it would be a nice place to take this surprise vacation. My criteria weren't too rigorous: I wanted something small (since it was just the 2 of us), not too expensive (since I wanted it to be small), and I really really really was hoping to find a place with a hot tub. I appreciated the fact that the calendars for the houses were up-to-date, and there were not only pictures of the houses but also videos (which really allow you to gauge the size of a place- sometimes vacation rental photos are soooo misleading!). There were 2 houses that met all 3 criteria and weren't already booked and I eventually settled on "The Haven." The house was absolutely lovely. It was clean and well-stocked, plus the hot tub was hot when we arrived. I really like that the house had a lock-box to get the key: it's so nice not having to go to an office first to pick up the key and then have to return it in the end. Everything was exactly how it was pictured on the website, or even better. We absolutely did not want to leave on Sunday morning. I'll definitely use Jenner Vacation Rentals again... someday, someday I hope to stay in the "Glass House," though all the houses look great and I'm sure I'd be happy in any of them!

I ended up sitting in the armchair, which was also seriously uncomfortable. In my tired-out state I left my unused, expensive Mounjaro injector pen in the bathroom because I forgot to take the shot. When I called about it they said they didn't find it. They also said they had mixed reviews on the bed. This mattress was as old as the hotel!! Don't take that room!! We had one person who was pretty unhelpful and got annoyed when we asked about accessing parking or if they would be willing to hold bags behind the desk, but when we came back later, there was a different person, and they were very helpful. In addition, this isn't a resort, so they don't have amenities like a gym/pool or dining onsite, but that's expected. I would probably stay here again based on the rooms and location. It's a great option for a longer, economical, comfortable stay.

We historically have stayed in the Healdsburg area. This year we decided to mix it up a bit and stay in Santa Rosa. With its proximity to Santa Rosa downtown as well as multiple other wine country towns and attractions, we picked Art House to stay at. For our very large group of 20+ people, everything went super smoothly from start to finish. Booking our multiple rooms all on the same floor of the hotel was so easy and ideal. We booked everything from the Classic King Rooms to the Urban King Apartment Suite all the way up to the Cityscape Corner Apartment Suite. All the rooms were extremely reasonably priced and worked out great! I personally stayed in the Corner Apartment Suite and it was just such a great space. With a huge living/dining room, full kitchen and separate bedroom with a king bed and bathroom, it was so comfy. The floor to ceiling windows let in so much natural light with sweeping views of the Santa Rosa skyline. It frequently served as homebase most of our stay for everyone to just gather and hang out together in. It was just a fantastic room. Another huge plus was the complimentary Continental Breakfast. Stocked with bagels, English muffins, muffins, cereal, granola, yogurt, juice, milk, Nespresso coffee and various teas, this was simply fantastic to start the day with. For our huge group with multiple kids, it also saved us so much hassle and extra money vs. going out to an off-site restaurant for breakfast. What also made our stay EXTRA AMAZING was all of the staff. From the front desk team to housekeeping, every single staff member was absolutely wonderful. I will especially like to point out Marilyn, Ruth and Bernadette. This trio of women really went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. I really hope the hotel management recognizes this remarkable team. To be a good, complete reviewer, I will point out the few minor quibbles that others in our group did mention. The $21/night parking in the extremely tight enclosed garage was a bit pricey. Paid street parking is plentiful and cheaper, but if you have a nicer car then the choice is yours. The local Santa Rosa tap water flowing from all the room faucets could use a filter to help improve the taste a bit. And finally the shower pressure could use a lesser flow restrictor. Overall, Art House is just a fantastic choice if you are looking to stay in the Santa Rosa area. Our huge group unanimously agreed that we will definitely be back for a future repeat reunion here!
