First hike of 2025 was here, and I'm really glad that I was able to come here. Big shoutout goes to the City of Saratoga and Public Works for keeping these trails open even on official holidays like today, on New Year's Day. There are endless amounts of trails that you can look towards -- some roll around in a circle, and some lead all the way to Sanborn County Park. While many people say these trails go nowhere, they do lead to the opening of trails that lead into the Santa Cruz Mountains. The only improvement that I would give to this park is the narrowness of some of the trails that we had to encounter -- and while there were spectacular views of the South Bay, what was lackluster and disappointing was the fact that there were barely any labels that were telling us where we were going. The bridges were a very good view of how close or how far we were from the very beginning of the entrance of the park, however, so that was a very good sign. If you're looking for a park that challenges you as much as going to Almaden Quicksilver Park, but without driving so far, then the Saratoga Quarry Park is just for you. I'll definitely be back to challenge myself to climb these hiking paths more. read more

Great place for a rest stop, there is a men and women's bathroom as soon as you drive in. They have a cool old structure that was part of area where they quarried the rocks with cool pictures inside of the " tunnel structure" There are also walking trails here "not really for me as I like hiking more on riverbed boulders, and things like that. Bottom line "for me this is a good place for a quick rest stop or a picnic. read more

Nice, mostly shaded hike from Saratoga Quarry Park to Sanborn. Take it all the way to Skyline and back for a good workout. There are some tables along the Upper Quarry Park trail closer to the parking lot, at least one other along the way to Sanborn. Clean bathroom at the beginning is always nice. Parking lot isn't huge but get there before 845AM on a weekend and you should get a spot. read more

Unlike many other parks, Saratoga Quarry Park is one you have to work for. What do I mean? Well, consider: * Parking is free, but there's only one small/medium-sized lot with limited roadside parking, and spaces fill up quickly on weekends. * On the other hand, this place is relatively empty on weekday mornings during the school year, but then you have to fight through crazy morning traffic. * There are a lot of picnic tables but they're spaced far apart, up various inclines, connected by short gravel trails. This isn't the kind of park where everything is within sight of the parking lot. * Lastly, there are a ton of mosquitoes here. Use that bug spray or be prepared to run fast! The park is named for the old stone quarry that operated here. After the closure of the quarry in the 1960s, county employees, who used the grounds for recreation, constructed the picnic areas, stonework, and landscaping that we see today. Some of the quarry's buildings and equipment still remain, connecting the present to the past. The park also has bathrooms, drinking fountains, and benches scattered about. Near the upper terrace area is a pond, but it was completely dry when I visited this summer. Some short trails run through the park, but a couple of the lesser trails are not well-maintained and sort of disappear without warning. The main trail here is the Saratoga to the Skyline Trail, a 3.5 mile single-track trail with gradual elevation gain. This then turns into the Stuart Ridge Trail and runs another mile as it enters into Sanborn County Park. The route between Quarry Park and Sanborn makes for a nice run/hike and is mostly shaded. I visited during a non-busy time and didn't see many people on the trail, but I'm sure it's a different story during peak times! read more

I hiked Quarry Park, Saratoga Sat 11/21/20 w/ V. It was a 40min drive from Fremont. Free parking, but at 9am lot looked full. They have 2 bathrooms but signed said Out of order use Pit toilet. Pit toilet was gross & afternoon way worse. Drinking fountains turned off due to Covid19. Hiked around Quarry park lots of things to look and read. Small pond had some water in it. Some trees had nice Fall colors. Then we checked out the new Saratoga to Skyline Trail 3.6 miles one way. We had lunch at the end of trail/start of Sanborn. Then we continued a bit further into Sanborn to see Bedrock Mortars Complex and bunch of grinding rocks. We returned by Hwy 9 on the side of the road, I don't recommend that cuz drivers driver hella fast, felt like I was gonna die so many times! Just turn around and follow the same trail back! read more

I love this hike! It's free to park and enter, and it's beautiful and mostly shaded. We took our bob stroller, and it worked great- a few difficult places but overall totally fine! There are other hikers but it didn't feel overcrowded, they have picnic areas and toilets at the beginning. If your adventurous you can make it all the way to Sanborn, we never made it that far. Beautiful hike though, there's a labyrinth, bridges, benches and other little mini milestones you come across, I like having a destination so that worked well. read more

Went here with mom group and our 3 year olds and some younger. Pros: bathrooms, free parking, water, views Cons: steep af! I would not call this stroller friendly... but I did manage to push my one year old partially up in one until I switched him to my ergo carrier and pushed the rest of the way. It's stroller-doable-if-you-must. The problem is it's steep and it's gravel so my feet kept slipping. And there's part of the trail that's really narrow. I wish I took some pix to post but I had my hands full. My 3 yo enjoyed it! Ran the whole way and played with his construction trucks in the gravel and ran around the rock maze. Me... With the addition of "Saratoga to Skyline", this is now a trail-runner's dream come true. Some safety tips. Dense tree canopy means a shady run with decreasing visibility, fellow hikers, and (potentially) low-to-no signal, the deeper you go. So be mindful of your personal limits and safety. I like the place. We did our maternity photos here,so it already has sentimental value to me. The trail is okay. After hiking Sanborn yesterday, there was a clear difference between what you have to pay for versus what you do not. This place is free, but the trail is not well kept. At least not on this day. Up towards the top,the trail narrows and there is a combination of leaves and spider webs around. I had to pay extra close attention to the leaves on the trail so not to encounter any snakes. Luckily there was nothing in sight the entire hike. Additionally, trail being short as it is, the majority is very steep. I would say moderately steep nearly the entire way. There is no real payoff at the end. There are nice views along the way, but if it is truly the end, then it's just a cul de sac of a fence and the trail becomes leaves. I didn't go any further after the trail dissipated. read more

Love this park! It's very remote but not in an unsafe way. Perfect escape for a coronavirus outing that won't stress you out. Gorgeous little pond, great picnic areas, strange historical references that are an odd but interesting addition to the space. The history makes it cool but the nature makes it so beautiful. Only a short hike right now cause it seems like the path is under repair but it has some killer uphills read more

Hardly anyone here so parking was easy. Water fountain, restrooms at the entrance. There was a little tunnel that had historical info about the place. Throughout the park, there are plaques explaining the history. The trails were short but nice for kids. Only disappointing thing was the pond. That was our goal for the walk and we spent a lot of time walking around only to realize that we did find it, it was just dry! read more

Very beautiful park ! Only thing I can say is be ready for the incline the trail is very steep so make sure you have good shoes!

Lots of picnic tables and shade. Interesting, views, restrooms, parking, leaves and dirt.

Nice little park, but manage your expectations. Great for kids and pets. Picnic tables and shade at the bottom of the hill. Fresh gravel covering the trail so not a lot of dirt kicked up (good for sensitive allergies). However it's a little slippery when coming back down the hills so be careful. There are a 2 side "trails" - a loop trail that would only take a few minutes to walk around and a trail alongside the "pond" (which at this point is just a swath of cattails). Scenic view at the top is very nice and is achievable for those not in shape. Runners can do multiple loops to the top and down. Watch out for when the park closes - they may close the gate and lock your car in. read more

What a lovely surprise this park is! Saw signs in Saratoga proclaiming this new park and decided to check it out at sunset. Quarry park is a wonderful space beautifully developed with very nicely laid out picnic areas, lovely vistas and nice hilly walks. A main trail is yet to open but it is still a good walkabout and for the serious runner, a few turns around the park make for a very nice up and down run. read more
