Okay so while I really enjoy the Pattie's and coco bread, I wasn't convinced about the food. Well...let me say they made me a believer! Their jerk chicken, oxtails, curry and oxtail pasta are ON POINT! I've been a weekly regular at this restaurant for about 3 months now and to date, I haven't had a disappointing meal. Plantains are always sweet, the rice & peas perfectly cooked, and the dumplings & fried dough amazing. Guess you can see I like this place. The customer service is good and trust I always have questions and they keep the interior clean. The house made juices/drinks are a bit too sweet for my taste but the food is worth every penny, and the portions are hardy enough for 2 people. read more

I joined a group of about 8 friends for D&G's karaoke night on a Friday from 6-9pm. The karaoke itself was fun, even if there were just a few groups of tables participating. There is a small tv on one half of the restaurant that displayed lyrics while performers and the karaoke set up stood close to the entrance. The space felt a little small for a large karaoke and speaker set up but we made it work. The energy amongst the crowd (4-5 tables worth of people) was fun, and that's what matters most. After the karaoke, the hostess played about 30 mins of Caribbean jams which was fun too. During the event we had plenty to eat and drink. I had 3 rum punches (2 of which were during the happy hour window for $7) - they were not made to order, but rather came from a batch container. They were still pretty good and pretty strong but I would've preferred a freshly made drink. My girlfriend got a margarita to start (which wasn't that good) then switched to the rum punches. The bar was also low on glassware - so we often got drinks repoured into glasses we had just finished. Don't think the bar was prepared for a larger group that night. The food was solid, but not great. I had the regular fried wings and the jerk wings, for $9 during happy hour. Both wings were good, and I appreciate that the jerk wasn't too spicy. Strangely, I received 7 fried wings in one order and 5 jerk wings in the other order. My friend, who also ordered jerk wings, only got 4 wings in his order. Some consistency in order size would be better. On our way out, we ordered a couple patties (beef and curry chicken) and a curry chicken dinner with rice n peas and plantains. Theses choices were great! Wish I had ordered one more patty. The staff's friendliness and liveliness was the best part. The bartender was very friendly and did her best to manage the whole restaurant's drinks solo. The karaoke hostess had great energy. Even the kitchen staff and folks managing food orders were kind and pleasant. I could tell many of the guests were regulars; everyone seems very comfortable interacting with staff. If I'm in the area again, I'd totally be okay with stopping by for another rum punch and beef patty. read more

My first time here and never even heard of it, just drove by and wanted something other than chicken or steak. I got the oxtail lunch entree that comes with two sides. I went basic going with rice n peas and Mac n cheese. It was really good, I indulged before I could even leave the parking lot. They added plantains unfortunately that's not my thing but definitely recommend. It's not just a carry out they have a full bar and sitting area. I saw a poster that they promote karaoke night on Fridays, might check it out for a pregame situation if I'm ever on that side during that time. I definitely want to come back and try the oxtail Rasta pasta i don't think i ever seen a place do that. Warm and friendly!There's been a running joke that if they're nice at a Jamaican restaurant, the food won't be good. Well...the food was just ok for me. The jerk tasted more sweet than spicy. Not sure if I was supposed to ask for extra sauce on the side since it was my first time here. The rice and peas was bland. The plantains were hard and dry. I also tried their sorell drink. This location hasn't been here long. While we waited and ate, we saw customers picking up, yet none except us sat to eat. This establishment has a lot of potential. There is a bar area. Clearly, they are still waiting for their liquor license. Bar stools are sitting aside, waiting for that moment to come. Reggae music playing not too loud, we were cared for by a friendly enough woman who answered our questions and was patient and courteous. Now, the main event, the star of the show, the food. I am glad the food was good. Caribbean food is special to me, and I will riot for some dry mac n cheese, ok? This was not the case. Both meats were flavorful and fall off the bone. Oxtail gravy was authentic. I was missing pepper sauce, but that's my taste. The mac n cheese was so cheese, and it had baked cheesy, crusty pieces, yeap, you know what I'm talking about. My main dislike about the food is that they use a lot of carrots, and for me, it changes the taste of the food; that was the case with the curry goat and the cabbage. Was it still good? Yes, we needed to be rolled off to the car after we were done, but I think using fewer carrots could've been better. I will for sure be trying more traditional items off their menu. read more

Poorly packaged. My food fell through the bag as soon as I got home due to how heavy and wet the bag was. Mind you, I came straight home after picking up my food. I didn't mind coming back to the restaurant to get my food remade. However, it seemed like the kitchen was not trying to make my food again. They also denied my request for a refund. This is after I paid EXTRA for oxtails. BEWARE. I tried to dispute the charge, but it seemed like whatever system they use blocks credit card disputes. Just a heads up for whoever decides to purchase from here. I am grossly disgusted by their lack of customer service. I'm a first time customer and this left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

I was here during the first few days of opening. It's always exciting to see a new Caribbean restaurant in the neighborhood! It was POURING outside, so it was nice to take shelter in this new establishment with all the grand opening fanfare right outside its doors. It's a very open entrance that I imagine is all decorated for the holidays now. As you walk inside, at least then, there was a bar area... some sparkly was on the shelves ahead of them getting their license, which should take months. I wonder how far along they are with that? The staff were friendly and welcoming, and I decided to order the brown stew chicken tray. I had initially planned to take it home, but due to the rain I decided to just sit and watch TV (they have a couple on the wall) and I had a good ol' time with Netflix. D&G was fantastic. We ordered a few things to try since this was our first time ordering from here and they didn't disappoint. We had the oxtail dinner with mac & cheese and plantains, stew chicken with cabbage and rice & peas and also jerk chicken with the same sides. Everything was cooked perfectly, tasted great, the jerk chicken had some heat but not too much, and the oxtail were tender. A coworker of mine , recommended this spot . It's located in a shopping centers, which makes parking accessible and easy. The spot just opened . The inside decor is clean and fresh. Nice seating area and bar area. I came soon as the doors open so the music was low and NCIS was on the tv. I placed a carry about orders high took only 15 minutes . So glad this side of Bowie finally has a delicious small business/delicious food option. I was excited to order from here and it did not disappoint in anyway. I got the Jerk Wingettes and my husband ordered the Brown Stew Chicken. The brown stew chicken fell off the bone and is well-rounded in flavor. The rice and peas were delicious. Another delicious part of the meal was the cabbage. It was well-seasoned and tasted good by itself or accompanied by other parts of the meal. My husband took a bite and immediately started attempting to speak Patois (he's not Jamaican, but it tells you how authentically good it is) My jerk wings were so yummy. That meal also fell off the bone, had a great balance of heat and flavor. I ordered the sorrel as well, which is a house recipe and again, did not disappoint. I'm surely going to be a regular there, and I'd suggest you do too! We waited a bit for our food, but it was worth it. My tip for you is to call ahead if you can. This was our first time going to this place and we WILL NEVER RETURN, first of all way over priced. We paid $47 for 2 jerk meals, secondly these jerks didn't have the decency to even give us additional jerk sauce for the dry ass chicken!!! Meats were packaged separately which I liked. Could have used some more gravy as the meat package was small. Jerk pork was good but growing up in Jamaica I'm used to more spice. Would order again. Curry chicken roti was not good. It was not dal puri nor buss up shot. Whoever makes it needs to stop or if bought, don't. No chickpeas, not flaky, nothing. Tasted like bread batter rolled out. The curry chicken was ok. Also biting on pimento seed-don't belong in roti. Would not order again. Jamaican restaurants are not known for roti but this one was bad. That dough, ugh. Will toss. Cow foot soup could use more food/ground provisions but would order again. The cow foot was cooked just right. Chicken soup tasted as if the chicken was not cooked in the soup. The broth was ok but the chicken was flavorless. Fried plantain was excellent. Salad was a salad. Cabbage was good and I would reorder. The pineapple ginger and soursop drinks were good. A solid option for a home cooked meal in the area. Lots of options with something for everyone; they even have jerk pork, which most places dont carry. Quick service and great portions. They get two stars for having a clean establishment and "trying". All the reviews listing this place as 4+ stars must be from family because the food is just not it. I ordered to go because Jamaican food usually takes forever. I arrived 5 minutes after the scheduled pickup time and the place was mostly empty and my food was already packed and ready lol I fully expected to still be waiting! The order was for escovitch fish and oxtail one with rice n peas and cabbage and the other with Mac and rice n peas. Total order came to about $50 and it was a complete waste of money, time, and calories. All the sides were terrible. Sorry for the starving people but it went right into the trash. Fish was bland but covered with very pickled veggies. I was ok with the veggies but there was nothing to balance the sourness of the pickled veggies. All would have been better with some seasoning from start to finish. Oxtail was OK. Tender but again the flavor. It had a thick gravy on it but still missing flavor. I went in Sept 2023, they said they opened August 2023. Give them some time to figure the food out before you go and tell me if it got any better because I won't be going back. read more

Place is very clean and nice. Customer service is good, very welcoming. I was a bit disappointed because I called 5 days in a row for the jerk salmon and jerk pork. They did not have it. I finally called yesterday and they had the jerk salmon. It was more of a glazed salmon in a jerk sauce. Rice and Peas w/ the cabbage was very authentic amazing. But my salmon was still a little undercooked, no problem though. Just threw it in the air fryer. All together, food was a 7/10. Just wish they had stock of everything often. read more

I ordered a jerk drum dinner the jerk chicken drumsticks were cold to the bone! The sauce for the jerk chicken is more like a watered down pineapple bbq not the taste I'm looking forward to at all when I purchase jerk chicken , Beef patties are 2 out of 10. The Peas & rice was dry and cold the customer service is horrible and I've eaten here numerous times in hopes that I would eventually have a positive experience but still have yet to receive that. My family is West Indian so I would never lie. The manager, and owner refused to refund me for cold food after calling me back 4 hours later to resolve the issue at hand. This is my first negative review ever on a West Indian restaurant good or bad I always try to support my people but this was extremely unacceptable from the service to the way in which they handle issues bestowed upon their establishment we don't pay extra for incorrect orders and cold food. They will make you come all the way back to show them the order that they messed up regardless of the issue so please be cautious and aware. The restaurant barely gets any business, it is always empty and I completely understand why. It is due to negligence and carelessness on their end. A few good West Indian places in Maryland are Taste of the Caribbean (they deliver) in Capital heights MD , Weakness for Sweetness in Greenbelt MD , Dat Jerk in Glenarden MD , Irie Cafe in Capital heights MD , Suga & Spice in Hyattsville MD and Jerk Pit in College Park MD. Awful.. Went there when they first opened, I do not know who's doing the cooking but as a Trini I know Caribbean cuisine and this ain't it. The roti was just thrown together and very hard. The curry chicken and stew chicken HAD SO MANY PIECES OF BONE!!! We couldn't even have a bite without picking BONE!! Was not flavorful .. I love supporting black businesses, especially Caribbean.
