Oxtail (Large) Rice n peas Mac n cheese
    Nad'Jah D.

My first time here and never even heard of it, just drove by and wanted something other than chicken or steak. I got the oxtail lunch entree that comes with two sides. I went basic going with rice n peas and Mac n cheese. It was really good, I indulged before I could even leave the parking lot. They added plantains unfortunately that's not my thing but definitely recommend. It's not just a carry out they have a full bar and sitting area. I saw a poster that they promote karaoke night on Fridays, might check it out for a pregame situation if I'm ever on that side during that time. I definitely want to come back and try the oxtail Rasta pasta i don't think i ever seen a place do that. I didn't get it because the cashier said it would 25 minutes and I didn't feel like waiting so check the menu beforehand and call in if you want your food to go.

The food was eh. For the price, I expected it to be out of this world. I ordered the oxtail with rice and peas, beef patty, chicken soup, and jerk chicken Rasta pasta. The jerk chicken in the pasta was the only thing that was good. Everything else was just surprisingly bland. With the bonus plastic wrapper inside my soup, I don't think I'd ever order from here again.

This location hasn't been here long. While we waited and ate, we saw customers picking up, yet none except us sat to eat. This establishment has a lot of potential. There is a bar area. Clearly, they are still waiting for their liquor license. Bar stools are sitting aside, waiting for that moment to come. Reggae music playing not too loud, we were cared for by a friendly enough woman who answered our questions and was patient and courteous. Now, the main event, the star of the show, the food. I am glad the food was good. Caribbean food is special to me, and I will riot for some dry mac n cheese, ok? This was not the case. Both meats were flavorful and fall off the bone. Oxtail gravy was authentic. I was missing pepper sauce, but that's my taste. The mac n cheese was so cheese, and it had baked cheesy, crusty pieces, yeap, you know what I'm talking about. My main dislike about the food is that they use a lot of carrots, and for me, it changes the taste of the food; that was the case with the curry goat and the cabbage. Was it still good? Yes, we needed to be rolled off to the car after we were done, but I think using fewer carrots could've been better. I will for sure be trying more traditional items off their menu.

D&G Caribbean Grill + Bar in Bowie hums softly under its fluorescent stars, its yellow walls glowing like a tropical memory against the cool indifference of Maryland night. The jerk pork here carries the authority of the islands, though perhaps not the smoke of a roadside drum pan--more a well-trained echo than a wild hymn. Still, the spice lingers like an old truth, complex and relentless. The double mac and cheese, twin lagoons of molten comfort, remind one that indulgence is sometimes resistance: against blandness, against despair. The brown stew chicken, rich and brooding, pairs with rice and peas that feel like the heartbeat of something older than appetite. Steamed cabbage--humble, honest--offers brief reprieve from the beautiful excess. The patties behind the counter sit in neat yellow rows, waiting like emissaries of the sun. Cakes glow in their cases: rum, red velvet, black--small monuments to sweetness's persistence. This is a place of gentle labor and patient warmth, where the cooks move with the quiet assurance of those who know flavor as inheritance, not invention. The food tastes like someone still believes joy is worth the effort.

I had the jerk shrimp, rice and peas, cabbage, the cabbage was a little undercooked. The jerk chicken was a little greasy but good. This was a decent Caribbean spot. New to me because I came upon it by accident,. The service was great. I had to wait 20-25 minutes for the food because it was "made to order". I was initially told the wait was 30 minutes.

I saw a food critic try this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try while in the area wanting some Oxtail. The place was pretty empty when I went in to place my order, so I didn't understand why the music was loud. I believe that's why she didn't hear me when I also asked for a drink with my meal. I ordered the oxtail with rice peas and cabbage. Everything was good.

A coworker of mine , recommended this spot . It's located in a shopping centers, which makes parking accessible and easy. The spot just opened . The inside decor is clean and fresh. Nice seating area and bar area. I came soon as the doors open so the music was low and NCIS was on the tv. I placed a carry about orders high took only 15 minutes . I ordered curry chicken, jerk wings, oxtails with Mac n cheese, rice & beans , steamed cabbage, and a beef patty. The food was okay. Not sure if I agree with the price.. it the food was ok. Definitely would stop by again .

Dry jerk, and rice majority of our plates had majority bones absolutely no chicken.

The inside is extremely dark, and the old carpet makes the space feel dated. A few upgrades and design tweaks would make a huge difference. The menu is overloaded with too many options. Sometimes less is more, especially for a Caribbean restaurant trying to maintain quality and speed. Service was another issue. The wait for food was way too long, and while most restaurants cook to order, customers still expect communication and efficiency. A strong General Manager could really help tighten up operations and improve the overall experience. The food itself was decent once it arrived. One thing that didn't make sense was offering different spice levels for Caribbean food. Just serve the dishes as intended and offer pepper sauce on the side for customers who want extra heat. Overall, the restaurant has potential because of the location and decent food, but the atmosphere, service, and management side need serious improvement. Period…read more I've been seeing this place all over social media, so when I found myself in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. First off, parking is easy. It's in a shopping center, so nothing stressful there, and the restaurant itself is easy to spot. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean, polished, and classy everything looked. Even though it was busy, it didn't feel chaotic. The staff immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time which I appreciated. They didn't just rush me through the line; they actually took time to explain the menu, how the bowls are built, and offered samples. That alone made the experience feel welcoming and intentional. Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. I grabbed a tropical punch juice, and just like everything else, it tasted fresh and well-made. Let me say this clearly: the food is a 10/10. If you're someone who will give Chipotle chance after chance, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to try Spice Black. 10/10. Worth your money. Worth the hype. Worth the experience.

The restaurant is nicely decorated with vibrant colors and very clean. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was okay. Not bad and just good in my opinion. Its not rave worthy but its still good. I would come back and try other options. This is still a good healthier option oppose to the many of terrible choices we have to choose from, this beats most unhealthy fast foods restaurants. For that reason I would return to try other food options. If you like chickpeas then this is your meal, Im not so it threw off the salad to me. I would have preferred chicken. Honestly, everything came together nicely as one salad, nothing was over powering. I'm just not a fan of chickpeas. They do have an option for shrimp but dont eat bottom feeders so that wasn't an option for me. My tastebuds are much different from yours so I would still give it a try. You might like it a little more than me. Its still a fairly good meal.

The restaurant is in a small unassuming parking lot... if you don't know it's there, you probably will miss it ( so glad I didn't !! ) The minute I walked in, I felt authentic family vibes ( something I look for when choosing my Caribbean locations ) The service was very friendly, and they cleared everything up when I wasn't sure if my particular craving could be fulfilled ( the combo I desired wasn't on their daily menu ) My sights were set on the oxtail and curry goat combo ( of course with rice & peas and veggies ! ) And when I say the goat was tender, and seasoned to perfection... while the oxtails had that juicy meatiness that will for sure keep me coming back. The rice & peas were cooked just right ( texture was on point ) and the veggies still had that freshness that brought everything else together. I love my Caribbean dishes saucy and not dry ( they get two thumbs up in that department ! ) Family vibes, cheerful greeting, and amazing food....
