I really enjoy this place in Frederick. My co-worker and I luckily beat the lunch rush. Your first time there can be overwhelming since there are so many options. I got 1/4 chicken with rice and beans and plantains. It was delicious! They were also generous with the sauce and gave me three! I had leftovers when I finished as well. When we got there the line wasn't long and we were helped immediately. There is plenty of space to sit. The only thing I missed was the horchata which they didn't have at the time I was there. I've tried their fries, yuca, and potatoes and you really can't go wrong with any side options. Great experience and tasty food! read more

So, first off I'm Peruvian and already had high expectations and was sorely let down. The chicken had a weird taste to it, the sauces were packaged and not freshly made, they were so rude, my side salad took them about 20 minutes to prepare - it was given to me once I was finished and just sitting there thinking about forgoing the salad and just leaving. I told the cashier it was my first time eating there, and she gave me the meanest mug. I literally just asked how many sauces come with my meal...I seriously won't be going back. I'm considering trying the new location in Falls Church because this could be more of a location problem then the actual food - but still don't like the fact that the sauces come packaged. read more

Peruvian Chicken rocks. Seriously, I don't think I've been to one that I didn't like. This one reminds me a lot of the famous Pollo Rico on Arlington. It has the same bare-bones ambiance. Nothing in the walls, generic tables and chairs... only difference is they take credit cards. Sardi's is tucked away kind of hidden... my brother has lived in Frederick for about 10 years now, and just discovered this place. We took home a whole chicken (was more than enough for 3 of us) and we got fries, fried plantains, and beans & rice. The whole chicken with 3 sides option also came with a bottle of soda. The chicken was good. The fries were good. They have the same sauces that every Peruvian chicken place has... "the green one" and "the yellow one." From experience; the 'family meal' special will overfeed four hungry adults, for only $35! You'll have leftovers for sure.... You'll get a choice of side sauces for the chicken. My choice is the spicy green sauce. Damn it's good! Others are a sweeter honey mustard, and something else I forget.... Side dishes are delicious and plentiful! Fries... Beans and Rice.... Plaintains.... Cole Slaw. It's all good. I rated 5 stars based on the food alone..... Was definitely hoping for more here given all the hype. Chicken was excellent, sides were a bit rough, esp the yucca which is what I consider my "go to" for any Peruvian chicken spot. It was both over-fried and extremely dry. It may have been b/c I was at the bottom of the barrel but even when I tried a more freshly made batch it was still dry. I'm talking like having water ready to go in your mouth b/c if you don't it will cake itself everywhere and give you "cottonmouth kind of dry". The steak with egg and rice dish looked appetizing and when I tried some of my friends it was "ok". The horchata was a tad too sweet and the mango and jamaica juice were too watered down to appreciate any real flavor. I just couldn't get into the 4-star realm for this place. Business however didn't seem affected as the influx of customers was steady. In the future, I will probably check out some other spots. Regardless of this review I'm certain this place will crush it for years to come b/c the chicken is a solid product. I just have a hard time justifying a whole chicken meal with three sides for $30+ dollars that I can't even enjoy with tasty sides. read more

Another great Latin American restaurant in Frederick! We had the churrasco de pollo with fried plantains (fabulous!) and Peruvian fried rice and the pollo saltado (see photos for both). Both dishes were excellent and HUGE. We could have easily split one of these dishes between the two of us. I looked around the room and it seemed that all the other diners had equally large portions. At $28 for both of these dishes (plus bottled beverages), it seemed a little steep for lunch. Yes, the portions were huge but they don't have to be: less food, lower prices. (No one wants to bring a doggie bag back to the office.) I saw some flan with my name on it so we'll be back. read more

Nope, still So excited when this place reopened couldn't wait. BUT NOW to pay for the remodel you will be charged for every sauce you want and it feels as though they are pinching every penny they can to make a profit even tho they chose to upgrade and add on and improve their location. I've only been back once since the relaunch. Sorry guys but you lost me and many others I know because you charge for sauces now and it's stupid when you didn't before. Don't make me pay as much for sauces as I do for the meal. Absolutely insane. The sauces are great and so is your chicken but the rest is not that special. The Golden Beak's chicken fried rice is better than you have and they don't charge for sauce. You may not get the same business back now unless you keep you mentality the same for customer service. Frederick isn't forgiving on bad overpriced service. Gogibop is gone for the same reason. Their food was great but they penny pinched themselves into closing. Their fault and I tried to tell them but no one listened and it's too bad cuz they were good enough to survive. Don't do the same thing *Note: after this posted review I was contacted by Sardi's quickly, I am willing to give them another chance. I'll do an update after that. 2-2019 - tried once more - still haven't returned since. Can't bring myself to pay for sauces that are smaller portioned and cost as much as the meal. If you want real chicken and not franken chicken, chicken that is perfectly spiced and roasted on a rotisserie, choice of two large sides, including rice n beans, pintos, giant fries, nice salad, plantains, fried yucca, black beans, more all served piping hot,then you will love this place. They also have real lamb gyros and oher delicious well-cooked items on the menu. The chicken is to die for. Oh did I mention the sauces? The food and experience certainly has its place as a worthy competitor among the prepared-in-advance, limited-customization chicken out places like Poulet and the original Boston Market. The food was tasty, the service (well, quasi-self-serve process) was fast and the prices fair. One would not go out of one's way, but if in the area one definitely can do worse and I have. Sardi's really could benefit by a new location with a larger and more accessible parking lot. It's a tight, congested lot in a hard to find location with limited visibility. I was finally convinced into going here, and it was actually much better than I expected. Atmosphere- I actually thought this was going to be more of a white tablecloth kind of joint when I heard about it, but turns out it's more like fast buffet (think like Chipotle). You go up, tell them what you want, and an assembly line puts together your order. Then you go and choose your own seating. There's nothing really special about any of this. Food- The food overall was great. The chicken (most important part) was awesome. The rice and the beans could use some work, but the plantains and the papusas were on point. I think the pricing was right for what we ordered as well. We paid a little over 40 bucks I believe to feed five people, which is awesome for some good ethnic food. 4/5 read more

Came in here based on YELP reviews and Sardis does not disappoint. I thought I would go with the rotisserie chicken and got a decent portion of half-chicken, with sides of salad and rice-beans. Enough left over for dinner tonight. Wife had the seafood mixture, raw seafood in vinegar marinate and she loved it. The sweet potato and corn sides also were excellent. I am going to wander around the menu in the future because there are many great choices. We also don't have anything like this in the Martinsburg WV area. Definitely on our list for when we go to Frederick, which is about once a month. read more

My job takes me all over MD and VA so I've tried many of these places over the years within a good 250 mile radius, and this one is the best I've had. There are many that come close but there's just something that puts Sardis a little above. I guess I would have to say its the fact that they are not afraid to season their food. Too many places nowadays seem to tone things down a bit so as not to offend anyone's tastes. This place keeps it real, everything authentic. Even the vegetables come to you just right, nothing needed. The chicken is tasty and juicy, and the skin is crispy. Everything is always nice and fresh too... Also they have, dare I say, the BEST Steak and Cheese in town, try it with some of their green sauce, or alot if you like a little heat like me... read more

This place does similarly with flavorful chicken but I'm a sauce girl and the yellow sauce and green sauce they have a Rico is my go to! This place has sauces galore but nothing really compares to my yellow and green sauce. I accidentally found you a few years ago...looking for a quickie lunch spot while working out of a ground level test kitchen -- i know...don't ask. But Sardi's...no, you are not Pollo Rico (my dc standard)...but you are...everything that reassures me that Frederick...one day will be....possibly...grow up to be a real city. Sardi's is a local peruvian rotisserie chain...local chain, this is good! If you are a migrant from the inner beltway, forced to move north for affordable housing you will appreciate that Sardi's is.. an authentic dc peruvian joint. I only comment on their whole chicken, black beans and yellow sauce (amarillo sauce).. i have seen patrons in uniform (from fort detrick i presume), recent spanish speakers that call our area home, and us other folks that accidentally (and intentionally) call fredneck home filling out the dinning area. I buy an additional small (or large) container of their yellow sauce -- it is my preferred addition to my fish tacos - though my cousin puts it on eggs too! The chicken is marinated and then rotisseried...when ordered a whole chicken they hack it into four pieces, they will cut into eight pieces when asked. They offer black beans (do i remember pinto also?), steak house cut fries, yuca, white rice, peruvian fried rice (love the waters of migration :)) and veg of the day....and i am sure some other side options that I have never considered. i am here for chix chix, black beans and french fries...with extra yellow sauce and really appreciate the extra heat of the green sauce that i dip my extra yellow sauce into. So good...you will be happy with Sardi's. And Frederick Alderman... i really hope that you do not demise the golden mile with...your walmart super center plans!!. read more

Their food is so delicious! We were first introduced to Sardi's at a church lunch where the church provided the meat. Now, our church uses Sardi's for most church potlucks and we use them for takeout whenever company comes from out of town. We've never had someone say they didn't like it! Everybody loves the chicken and everybody has their own favorite sauce. The most popular sauces in our house are the yellow and the green. We always get 2 servings of the fried rice and some plantains. The kids would have our heads if they didn't get plantains! Sardi's is definitely a family favorite! Even my picky FIL who only eats his wife's cooking (or sometimes mine) now enjoys getting Sardi's with us! read more

I've been to a few Peruvian places and with all the hype surrounding this place I was expecting mind blowing food. At 15%-20% higher than competing restaurants I was again expecting something better than the rest. My order was to go during lunch. My order was simple: 1/2 chicken with all 3 sauces, Yuca fries, and black beans over rice. Chicken was dry, even the dark meat. Yuca fries were basically raw. I only got white rice, no beans. At least my Inca Cola was fine. Disappointed by this place especially considering the hype by my friends. If I had time to dine in, I would have asked for my meal to be replaced or my money back. This place wasn't too bad. I went back twice. The side opitonsn are really good. Get the grilled veggies, plantains, or, green beans. The sauces are really good too, they are all made in house but they get it packaged with their own labeling. I got the half chicken the first time i came here and the spare ribs the second time.
