Delicious Wood-Fired Peruvian Chicken! Sardis is a very good option to enjoy the typical Peruvian grilled chicken. The seasoning is very good, the skin is crispy with its saltiness of thefried potatoes are outstanding. Although the fries and yucca are great side options, Michael two size are the brussels sprouts mixed vegetables and the black beans with white rice options! Both side dishes are outstanding!! flavors really come through and compliment. the chicken very well. A frequent the Clinton, Maryland location, the most, but I really like the staff here. The staff is very friendly and pleasant, everyone seems to know each other even with the clientele that makes the experience when buying the food very homely. The vibe of the place is very spacious, comfortable and clean. Nothing but good things to say about Sardis and this location. Actually....Some of the best pollo la brasa around.....and there are plenty in the DMV. Good selection of sides, and a full menu of other Latino dishes, too. It's a serving line style setup, so you get to see the food and direct the server on all the items you're interested in when ordering. I'm honestly still sick thinking about this. Yesterday, I stopped at this Sarai's location on Oxon Hill Road, my second time ever visiting this particular store. I usually go to the Temple Hills location, where I've always had great experiences. But I happened to be in the area and figured I'd grab my usual: chicken. Big mistake. As soon as I bit into the chicken, I knew something was wrong. It was red at the bone. Not slightly pink, red. Within minutes, I was physically ill. I actually vomited. And I was sick for the rest of the night and into the next morning. I tried calling the store immediately, no answer. So I got in my car and drove all the way back from DC to return the food and show them a picture of the raw chicken. I brought the entire order back. When I showed the woman at the counter, her response wasn't concern or even apology, it was, "Well, what do you want me to do?" I asked for a refund. She admitted she didn't know how to do one and had to call someone on the phone. They spoke in Spanish for 10-15 minutes while I just stood there, still queasy, still frustrated, now feeling ignored too. Eventually, she figured it out and refunded me. So I asked, "Can I just grab a soda or some plantains? Something for the inconvenience of having to drive all the way back?" She looked at me and said, "No, I gave you your refund. That's good enough." I was stunned. I've had situations at other restaurants where they've offered a small gift card or at least something for the trouble, especially when I had to drive an hour round-trip. This wasn't that. Her tone and demeanor made it feel like she was doing me a favor by giving me back my money for the raw chicken they served me. This was a health risk. A safety issue. I was sick. And the customer service made it feel like none of that mattered. I will never return to this location. I'll stick with Temple Hills, where the food is consistently good and the staff treats you like your business matters. But I truly hope someone in leadership sees this, because the way this was handled, both the food and the service, was unacceptable. Some people say Peruvian chicken is just baked chicken. Those who do have not had Sardi's. The prices are fantastic for DC. A huge meal.is possible for under $20. I got the half dark chicken, and it was tasty! Perfectly cooked, quality meat. They have about a dozen sides, and only 2 of them are potatoes. The cilantro rice is great. I prefer the spicy sauce and use it often with the chicken. I highly recommend a stop here if you're in the area. It's possible to do takeout, but it is much better eating it in the restaurant. I've been going to this Sardi's for years and I've never had a problem with the food or service. It's clean, it's local, it's...not as affordable as it once was but what is?! I ordered my food while waiting to pay the person on the register continued to cough. A worker who was sweeping the floor during food service spoke to the lady on the register and said she need ed to go home because she was sick and has been for weeks. I can't imagine how many people have gotten sick from her coughing all over everything. When I then requested a refund the manager begin the refund however when he was told why I wanted a refund he made up some mess about need the refund to be returned to my card. 3 stars bc the food is usually very tasty, flavorful, etc. But I just ate my very pink and chewy chicken as much as I could force down bc I'm a teacher and have very little time, and I'm extremely disappointed in the quality this time around. You already raised prices roughly 2.50 from less than a year ago, at least ensure a quality product if you're gonna do that. Side note: I work very close by and the drastic price increase has kept myself and my colleagues away way more than previous years. Please consider having a lunch special once in awhile or you might price yourselves right out of the area... My go-to place for take out when I'm in the area. We usually get a whole chicken with brussels and plantains with all the green sauce. The chicken is always cooked perfectly and tastes great. The brussels are cooked well and are the veggie we need. The plantains are delish and, dipped in the sauce, it's even better. One issue: Today was a particularly busy day and no one asked if people were picking up, so that held us up quite a bit. Dont order from here late at night as this is not the first time I've received orders that have been short OR missing items. Last time the store was out of a side, think they called? I thought they were having a bad day because they used to be customer conscious and the food WAS good. 1. The salmon looked like they boiled it 2. They had multiple excuses. 3. I ordered the combo platter and they forgot 1 of the 3 items and the Lamb was overcooked and rubbery. Took that back and instead of giving me what they left off they gave me what they wanted me yo have as IF I was bothering them. 4. Today is the last straw I really want to support them but I can't afford the disappointment. Overall the food is good. But today we did the family chicken 2 sides and salad at 2pm on a Sunday. He cut the chicken and the dark meat looked kinda light pinkish I asked was it don't fully thru he said yes. Then I went to explain why I asked. They were generous with the meat with plenty of steak fries to make a filling lunch. The parking lot is small so it gets crowded quickly if you want to dine in. I have tried to like Sardiis because you many people like their food. The first time we went, we ordered a whole chicken. When I went to cut the chicken, I knew I was in trouble because the wing and drumstick did not move! As a foodie and greet cook, the tenderness of a bird is easily detected by how flexible the wing and drumstick move. The texture of the breast was tough and the chicken seemed cooked but not cooked long enough. So, decided to go back and get a pork chop and beef short rib dinner, which came to $31 Inc tax. Issue 1- ordered beef short ribs with mashed potatoes and gravy and mixed vegetables. Received beef short ribs with rice, mash potatoes ( no gravy) and mixed vegetables. Who wants mashed potatoes AND rice and not trying to weigh 600 lbs? The short ribs were paper thin- took a pic so see for yourself. Issue 2- ordered pork chops with no carbs and only veggies. This was my email to Sardi's management but please read it. This is what the service has been reduced too at what used to be a favorite in our community: I'm officially done with your restaurant chain, and 80% of the reason is due to the last few interactions and poor service at the Oxon Hill location. I went last nite and ordered the Churrasco De Pollo online to pick it up. When I got my bag from the cashier it felt extremely lite. So as normal, I stepped to the side to check my order and discovered that it was only one chicken breast in my order. I've order this meal multiple times before and knew something was wrong. The cashier informed me that y'all changed the menu and now it only comes with one. Thinking that telling me "but the price went down as well" was gonna fix it, she and your business is severely wrong. It hadn't been updated on the online site, further more, this was the last straw in like I said, was the most recent in a few disappointing interactions at this location. People don't care about a few dollars difference, if they're order what they want! And what they're used too. Then on top of this, my sides was barely filled to full or decent capacity. It's shameful to think that this community has supported your business throughout the years, from those extremely long lines on the Central Ave location due to such great quality and quantity of food, to your expansion all over the county, to now, nickel-and-diming your customers because you have a huge following. A week before, I had another incident we're I came into the Oxon Hill location to get some food after my workout and I walk into mops being moved around and employees scraping out the food containers into "to-go" contains. One employees was eating out of a aluminum food holder with her hands. As I walked up to the counter, an employee yelled "we're closed"...it was 8:48pm !!!!! Y'all are supposed to close at 9:30!! But I guess that doesn't matter. A few weeks before that there was another similar situation we're I came in the Oxon Hill location, around 8:00 and when I go to the head on the line to order, I asked for 1/2 chicken white with Brussel sprouts and fried rice. I was told "we're out of fried rice". When I asked when they were going to make some more, the man cutting up the chicken who takes the orders side "we're not making anymore, we close soon", like I said, it was 8:00!!! You have a whole hour and a half to FULLY serve your customers. This is unacceptable and I know I might be only one person, but my office has used Sardis for catering functions, so have I for family functions, and I visit Sardi's a few times within a month due to the dietary ways I like to eat and the menu items (prior to these incidents) and food quantities fit what I needed. But I will no longer give money to a business trying to live off its previous good name and try to cheap its customers out of more money with less food and terrible business practices. When you ask for anything extra like sauce or utensils, they act like you just asked for a million dollars then charge you, or if u ask the server, who's clearly not filling up ur plate with decent portions for more, they get an attitude. I just stopped by the Sardi's in Oxon Hill, MD to pickup some food for my dear cousin and her family because she had a medical procedure. Sardi's aims to please. They are friendly, the food is tasty, they are generous with the portions. I tried their soup special for the month of January (chicken and rice) and it's hearty and tasty; too bad it's not a regular menu on the menu!!! Give them a try you won't regret it!!! read more

Ok...Sardis was closing and yes I entered close to closing time. They informed me there wasn't anymore chicken. Ok, cool...so I ordered a veggie platter. A man walked in and spoke with the guys behind the counter in spanish and then guess what...a 1/4 white piece of chicken magically appeared?!!! Are you kidding me right now? Then the cashier said "ohhh, those were probably just scraps of chicken" Can we say upset about this experience!! They would've never treated customers that way at the Laurel or College Park location! I have had their food before but never ordered in store..so it was my first time. I ordered the 3 piece dark I realized that I was missing a leg portion when got home. The description clearly states it. What they ended up doing was chopping one thigh to make it appear as two pieces and giving me one leg. I find that highly deceptive and sneaky. If I was told there was no more I would have waited for a new batch. My advice to you check your food before you leave. I am very diappointed that I didn't get what I paid for. Very inconvenient.
