I needed to rent a tuxedo for a holiday event, so I arrived at Sarrtori about 3:00 on a Friday afternoon, after finding it on Yelp that morning. I was greeted by Fredy, the owner. I told him what I needed for the event (which was a month away). After looking me over and correctly guessing all my sizes (an impressive feat!) he said he didn't have time to get me fitted today; he had another customer with an appointment. He asked that I come back the following Tuesday afternoon. We did not set a time; he gave me his number and asked that I simply call before I came over. Note: It seems he is the only employee here. Too bad he has no staff to help with simple fittings Unfortunately, with the lack of appt time, and a long, busy weekend, I failed to put a reminder in my calendar. The following Tuesday came and went without me recalling my discussion with Fredy. This was of course my fault entirely. When I realized my mistake the next day, I texted Fredy with my apologies, asked for a do-over, then mentioned some days/times I could be free to show up. A day later he replied with the message "Let me check my schedule and text you back". I thanked him. And then...I never heard from him again. So I never did rent a tux from Sarrtori, despite wanting to. 3 stars is my starter rating for any business. Since Sarrtori was never able to provide a service that would move the needle in either direction, I'll leave that unchanged. As for the event, after a week of waiting for a text-back from Fredy I discovered that Nordstrom has a tux rental service called "The Black Tux." I was struggling to find a suit that fit me well and was in a color that I wanted for my wedding, and then I found Sarrtori. I am beyond pleased with the results. I ordered a custom 3-piece suit along with one of his specially sized white shirts and I have never owned any outfit in my life that fit me so perfectly or felt so nice. He named my size perfectly just by looking at me within the first 5 minutes of walking into the store (and I have a long history of being sized incorrectly by salespeople). The quality is amazing and the service was excellent. Also it was incredibly comfortable. If I could reasonably wear clothing this nice every day I absolute would. I would definitely shop here again and recommend it to anyone looking for high quality apparel with excellent craftsmanship. Some notes: -The time frame for delivery for my custom suit was very reasonable, but still took a few months. Fredy has many available options that are not fully customized, but pre-designed to fit many different body types beyond the standard shelf sizing and will be able to accommodate you on a short time frame in many circumstances. But don't expect a specially designed suit available in only a few weeks. -Considering the quality, the price was very reasonable, but this is not a discount store. You will pay less for the same quality or better than you might get at another high-end shop, but do not expect cheap. -Fredy basically runs most things himself. He is amazing, gives excellent advice, and works extremely hard to make your experience special, but he is only one person. I had a wedding to attend in a month so I was looking to get my first custom suit. I walked in mid-day to be greeted by Fredy. I initially came in looking for a beige or green suit, which Fredy gladly showed me my options. He brought out something that another client ordered that he believed to match what I was looking for, which it was. I chose to go with a beige suit, as it was more flexible to wear for different occasions. Fredy quickly got my measurements, and told me it would be ready in about 4 weeks. A week before the wedding, I came in to see the finished product and fitting. Fredy provided advice for movements and positions to try to make sure it was fitting correctly. I found the suit jacket to be slightly tight around the waist and wanted to increase the length of the pants. I was surprised when my brother invited me and my family to join him at this year's Emmy Awards. Of course this quickly led to a panicked "What will I wear?" It is a black-tie event, but my brother said the goal was to be comfortable, so a tux was optional. My last two suits were from Wilkes Bashford (way to expense) and Nordstrom's (never really fit me right). I checked out Yelp and found Sarrtori in San Carlos. At the time a 4.9 rating, 146 reviews, with many recent reviews that were all massively positive. I decided to check it out. I called down, and a gentleman named Fredy answered the phone. As it turned out he was the owner. Fredy was clearly energetic and engaged in helping me out. I told him my situation, he asked a few questions, and I made an appointment to meet with him. My wife and I went down to his store, he greeted us with espresso, told us the story about himself and the history of the business, and we then got down to work! Long story short, in less than 10 days (including Labor Day weekend!) I had a beautiful suit that fit me perfectly, along with a white, subtle, herringbone-patterned shirt, and two ties. I might add the price was extremely reasonable. Fredy is a wonderful, knowledgeable man and business owner who is really committed to the customer experience. For us, it was also great to support a local business! I rented a tux for my wedding, after going to a couple big tux stores I wasn't too happy at their selection and felt like just another customer. As my last stop I went to Sarrtori and wow, instantly felt like I would look great on my big day. It's weird why this store has so many other great reviews given how my friend and I were just looking at upscale mens clothes and the owner was so elitist and condecending to us. I've been to so many mens ( womens) high-end boutiques and clothiers in the Bay Area and the owners are usually the kindest and most accommidating given it's their store and reputation on the line.
