My husband and I are celebrating 37 years of marriage this year. Through the years I have upgraded my setting, but never updated the original stone (1 carat). It holds sentimental value to me. Went in to inquire about repairing my ring and was made to feel like it was my fault that gem keeps falling out because I "type on a computer". Representative was very unprofessional, dismissive, and answered multiple phone calls while we were conversing. I was told I couldn't be helped because it will just keep happening again - mind you this is a family ring that's been used by my great grandfather who actually worked with his hands as a boiler mechanic. Isaac has become "our jeweler"! From the moment we walked into Sashka's Jewelry back in October of 2016 we felt at ease. Isaac was warm and welcoming, not at all pushy or always trying to make a sale like oh-so-many jewelers in the Diamon District on 47th Street. I did quite a bit of research for reputable jewelers in the Diamond District before my husband and I went there to pick out a ring for my birthday present. I narrowed it down to five stores. The times I've walked randomly through it I was certainly not filled with confidence with all of the hustlers trying to get tourists into their shops. However, after doing a bit of research online (as you should be doing yourself), we decided to give it a run through ourselves. After 2 other shops, we found ourselves in Isaac's little office with his wife, Gina, offering us each a bottle of water. After explaining what we were looking for and our price range, he brought out some samples. While he was not a pushy salesmen at all, he was a good salesman in that he was catering his sale to my fiancee. He had a good selection of rings for women, but only a limited selection of men's bands that my taste. He insisted he could get anything I wanted, but it's hard to shop without actually seeing the piece. In the end, we got her engagement ring and wedding band from Isaac, but I got mine else where. Randomly walking into jewelers isn't ideal. You really want a recommendation of a jeweler who has the trust of someone you trust. However, here on Yelp, reviews are about as close as you get to that. I recommend Isaac, especially for women's jewelery. He was low pressure and worked with us on the price which was substantially better than any "mall" shop. He (and his wife) were friendly and prepared when we arrived for our appointments. Also, he has been true to his word about standing behind his rings. Issac and his team did a fantastic job on the engagement ring I purchased for my fiancé. He and his sales rep Gina were extremely helpful and were willing to work with my budget. There are a lot of jewelers in the area and many of them were making the whole situation of buying engagement rings extremely overwhelming and the minute I walked into their boutique I felt very comfortable. Issac left me assured and confident that everything would work out smoothly. Originally he said the ring I was ordering would take 2 weeks to be made since it was a custom design and to my astonishment it was ready early. When I began looking at engagement rings I wasn't sure what type of design would be best to go with and after looking in the shop with my girlfriend at the time I knew exactly what I wanted. I bought a beautiful platinum ring that featured a total of 16, 8pt diamonds on it, 8 on each side, but I was undecided about the type of head to use for the center stone, whether I should use 4 prong or 6. They suggested to order the ring to be made and we can choose the type of head after he saw the center stone which I had gotten from my future Mother-in-law. It turned out to be some of the best advice I've ever been given. Originally I wanted to go more with six prong setting however the diamond quality that I was given was very good and I felt that a 6 prong setting would cover up the stone too much. He said I was correct in going with my gut instinct and that 4 would be perfect. All in all, I had a fantastic experience here and I cannot wait to go back to order my Fiancé's wedding band. I recommend anyone looking at engagement rings and would like to go to a pressure free jeweler to look no further and go to Sashka Jewelers. I went to the diamond district to get my wedding rings cleaned as all the shops were just opening up. After being turned away by a couple other jewelers, a lovely lady who was talking on the phone waved me in. I was willing to pay to get my rings cleaned as I didn't buy it from the shop but they told me what I was asking for was unnecessary and would damage my ring. They said an actual cleaning should only be done once every several years. Instead, they ran my rings through an ionizing machine for free. As I waited, I was talking to Brenda and Isaac, they were very friendly and knowledgeable in their trade. After the rings went through the machine, Isaac blew air on my engagement ring to get any residual dirt off. He handed them back to me and they were as good as new! I thought I my rings were going to be very difficult to clean because there was a lot of soap scum behind the filigree but their machines did the trick. I was very happy with the results. When you're buying something like jewelry, it's very important to have someone you can trust and they definitely earned that trust. read more
