The food is so good here. You really can't go wrong with the gnocchi or the spaghetti carbonara. The flavor is just 5 stars.

When you spend $25 on a pasta dish with burrata, you would expect a reasonable serving of burrata, not a singular teeny tiny mozzarella ball. The service was good and attentive. The pasta flavor overall was decent, but the dish was ultimately very disappointing and a rip off. The bread pudding was pleasant, but I enjoyed the gelato served on the side of it more than the pudding itself. I'm mad that I was too distracted by wine and good company to complain about the pasta, that's my bad. If you decide to dine here, order something else. read more

Super loungey vibes and intimate setting - despite having plenty of room in here! I came here with 2 friends for dinner on a slow Tuesday night; it was wonderful! The place itself had low key lighting, booths and pillows strewn about, beautiful stemware, and white tablecloths. A very subtly sexy vibe given off indeed! Would be a great date-night location! We ordered a drink while we waited for one of our friends, a Hendrix Cucumber Gimlet, made beautifully, even served with a cucumber garnish. The drink was definitely strong, yet fresh - a perfect cocktail! One of our friends was running late, but our servers were super friendly and nice about it! Once she got there we naturally got to talking, but eventually ordered! We stared 2 starters, the empanadas and the arancini. The Empanadas were so good! It was a braised Kale, chickpea, and mahon empanada served with spicy Romesco sauce and toasted almond. The kale came through, as well as the earthiness of the chickpeas - really interesting twist on a traditional empanada! The arancini was also reimagined, butternut squash and fontina arancini, served with brown butter aioli and cranberry mostarda. The cranberry mostarda was super strong and tart- but I truthfully enjoyed the arancini more without it! For dinner I ordered pasta (because it was cold outside!!). I opted for the Campanelle with came with fennel braised Broccoli Rabe, homemade sausage, roasted Tomato, and mozz cheese. The sausage was delicious, but the portion was crazy off - when I finished my dish, I had a heaping mound of sausage left - definitely not stingy on the portions!! Naturallllly we had to try the desserts, you know, for science. We ordered the Flourless chocolate torte, as well as the bread pudding. I'm not the biggest fan of bread pudding but it looked great! Also, the chocolate torte was good, but nothing to knock-your-pants-off. And, believe me, when I see that dark chocolate in front of me, I want it to be so rich it DOES knock my pants off... So the stars for service and food. It's good - no question. This is uncomfortable but here it is- there was a review on here about being racially profiled - here is what I'll say- my boyfriend and I went for dinner. - we were sat in the back room by the kitchen and the bathroom- there were three other parties in the back even tho there was room in the main dining room and all were mixed raced couples.... The Roasted Cauliflower with raisins and Mussels were my favorite dishes. The service here is also top notch. They don't pressure you in leaving and I saw a group who were there before we arrived and had already eaten still chatting when we got up and left. The mussels were cooked to perfection and not overcooked or tough. It wasn't too heavy at all given the shear number of mussels they serve you. The owner brought us bread to dip into the saffron buttery broth, which was a way to further enjoy the dish more (unless you're on a carb-free diet). The Bacon wrapped stuffed dates were cooked well, and if you're a fan of Cabrales (blue cheese) I'd recommend this. Creme brûlée - I've had better. the The sugar was overly burnt. I would not recommend Lemonida - which is a jalapeño infused lemonade like drink. Although I like a little heat in my drink, I really dislike anything that tastes like siracha or tabasco, which I believe should be served over some dish (noodles, rice, omelets), but not in an actual drink. Went for dinner on a Sunday eve with my family and we had an incredible meal. 3 of us had the steak, one chicken, one caccio e pepe, and one squid ink pasta (I forget the name of the shape of the pasta!). There was not one ounce of food left on the plate, we all loved our meals. The drinks were phenomenal too. We had two blueberry mojitos, a lot of wine, and a Hendricks Gimlet. The waiter was knowledgeable about the wine and made a lot of great recommendations. Although we chose to eat outside, the inside set up was very cute! The tables were far apart and looked very safe. They even had paper towels outside the bathroom so you could grab one to touch the door knob if you wanted. Overall, cannot recommend enough. Will definitely be back asap! read more

I am torn giving it a 4-star as the appetizer were 6 stars and the entrees for me were little below 3-stars Shrimp with chorizo appetizer is a must try, solid rounded and balanced spicy flavor. The salumeria and cheese platters are great if you are into salamis and cheese(I love trying both). These guys take their meat seriously and I believe one can buy too. I don't recall all the dishes ordered but definately not to my expectations or should I say that I don't have a great exposure to French cuisine however didn't cut it for me. Came here for Hudson Restaurant Week, and had been wanting to try the food here ever since I read the reviews and saw the pictures of the Mangelesa Charcuterie & Fromagerie on Yelp!. I am STILL thinking about my dinner experience there! The service was impeccable. The servers were knowledgable about the menu items, the courses came out in a timely manner, and everyone was very friendly. Now for the food. I chose this spot specifically since I'm the foodie, but my beau is a big meat and potatoes sort of guy with a rather large appetite, and Satis' menu seemed to offer dishes that were filling. In this regard, I was correct! My appetizer: meat and cheese plate. It was OKAAYYYY. Probably the reason that I am giving 4 and not 5 stars. The cheese was a sheep's milk semi soft, creamy, with a bite to it. The meat was quite tasty and I could tell the cornichons were in-house pickled. It wa a perfect complement to the apricot-mustard seed chutney, creamier & smooth cheese, and meat. It was lacking, to me, in presentation, like an after-school snack prepared by my parents in elementary school. Not the vibe I wanted. Beau's appetizer: Saffron, corn & potato soup. It was a chilled soup, velvety, creamy, and delicious, with a dollop of chile oil on top, to give it a zing. We wanted to lick the bowl. My main course: Steak frites with truffle oil. It was a meaty, perfectly rare (as I requested) hanger steak of good portion size. I could tell that the chef expertly rested the steak prior to slicing, since there was ZERO bleeding. It was juicy with a sea-salt and well seasoned dry rub, grilled, and drizzled with just a touch of truffle butter. The fries were nice and crispy. Beau's main course: OH. MY GOD. Homemade gnocci. Only, they were gnooci the size of pillows. Perfectly plush, perfectly cooked, not too dense but not too soft gnooci. It had that wonderful bite and tooth-sinking in feel, like a good pasta should be. The gnocci swam in this aromatic, creamy sauce with cannellini beans, escarole, and garlic confit. HEAVEN. So glad that my beau was actually FULL, and I ate a good 1/3 of those gnocci. Salivating just typing the description. YUM. Dessert: We were full by this point, and shared my dessert, the German Chocolate Cake Ice Cream Sundae with salted caramel and candied pecans. It was everything you wanted in a dessert and more. Freshly made whipped cream, freshly candied pecans, in-house made salted caramel. Perfect bite of creamy icecream, sweet cream, salt from the caramel, and just really good, what a woman wants chocolate. **Beau ordered the Banana Chocolate Cream Pie. We both took a bite, then brought it to go to finish later, since we were STUFFED. It was also amazing (and I actually liked it even more than the German Chocolate Cake, if that can be believed!) Good crust, creamy pudding-like banana filling, chocolate-fudgey topping and torched marshmallow fluffy stuff. All in all, great evening, great experience. I WILL be back for the gnocci!! read more

Well, this was a disappointing experience. Had made a reservation through their website and was seated promptly. Place was a bit too noisy, not sure if there was a private party going on downstairs. The service however was great. We asked to move to a quieter part of the floor and our server was kind enough to agree. For apps, we went for the mushroom croquettes and roasted cauliflower. The Mushroom croquettes were simply brilliant but the roasted cauliflower was flat. It felt like they had simply boiled it. For mains, we went for the Ricotta Gnocchi and roasted chicken. The roasted chicken is the reason I'm giving this place two stars. It was terribly burnt, hard and ended up ruining the meal. The Chocolate lava cake in the end was good! read more

After many meals at Satis I think my favorites are for brunch. I love that they change their menu frequently which gives you more reasons to come back. Dinners leave me a bit flat for the mains, but I usually really enjoy the small plates. Great spot in Downtown Jersey City. Second time here - first was for a larger birthday dinner so it's good for both small and large groups. Crispy halloumi was cooked really well and the side sauce made it even better. Half roasted chicken was cooked to perfection and didn't lose any flavor by having the bone removed. The ricotta gnocchi was definitely the best thing we had - so much better than other restaurants with smaller pieces (like MIDA reviewed before). Escarole and white beans were a great compliment and the huge bulbs of garlic were cooked perfectly and not overpowering at all. Really love this place and will definitely be back (for a 3rd time). Absolutely delicious food capped by impeccable, attentive service. My only regret is that I didn't save room for dessert! But I couldn't stop eating my squid ink tonnarelli. Note that their online menu was slightly different from the one we saw in-person. Very easy reservation system that allows you to book for either patio or indoor seating. They've expanded their patio seating in a socially-distanced way, and it was perfect on a beautiful October night. Came here for brunch with two other couples on a Sunday afternoon. The interior is decorated really nicely and there is also a really nice outdoor seating area with a lot of tables. Even though the weather was very muggy and humid, most people opted to stay outside. We started our meal with bellinis and mimosas as well as the patatas bravas appetizer. The potatoes were amazing - seasoned generously, crispy, and with just the right amount of aioli. The main courses came out pretty quickly. I got the mushroom and gouda omelette and my boyfriend got the lamb burger. Half of my omelette had no cheese in it and was very dry. I almost stopped eating it until I got to the half that finally had cheese in it. The fries it came with was very good. My boyfriend said that the concept of a lamb burger sounded good, but the execution of it was okay. It was cooked well, the sauce was good - it was good, but nothing special. This is my go-to place whenever I'm looking to grab a quick drink or a dinner on a special occasion with my partner. The bar's got ample space to get a drink and while there's enough seating at the restaurant as well, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you wanna beat the waiting time on a Friday / Saturday night !! Amongst the positives, there are a decent number of options for vegetarians . Amongst the drinks, my personal favorites are the cider and the gimlet. Also, there's plenty of outdoor seating during the summer and while I'm yet to try this place out for brunch, it already stands as my personal favorite in the Paulus Hook Area especially for it's ambience and decor. Had a fantastic dinner there tonight. Loved our pitcher of the white sangria. Mussels appetizer was delicious and used the bread to mop up the yummy broth. Our 3 main dishes were to die for. The Local Black Bass was perfectly cooked and was seasoned perfectly, served on top of a vegetable risotto! The other 2 dishes were vegan and were amazing! The Roasted Seasonal Squash was so good! The squash had perfect texture not stringy like some squash can be. It combined perfectly with the cannelloni beans and escarole. The third entree was my favorite- Seasonal Farrotto. The grain was combined with roasted vegetables and was so tasty. For dessert we had the Pistachio Cheesecake and the Whiskey Bread Pudding. Ended with English Breakfast Tea. Very cute French restaurant in Jersey City with a few pros and cons. The outdoor seating area is lovely and a great place to get dinner outside on a nice day. I enjoyed their cheese and charcuterie board, but it's definitely a bit overpriced for the area (comparable to West Village prices.) The beet salad was okay- the beets were still a bit crunchy and seemed undercooked. The brick roasted chicken had a great, crispy skin but could have used more seasoning, and the center of the chicken was a little dry. The star of our meal was 100% the berry creme brulee which I think is worth another visit to Satis alone. read more

I went here with my coworkers for dinner. It was a good place and very chic and trendy place to eat. For the appetizers we got Patatas bravas, prawn and chorizo skewer, and bacon wrapped dates. I love French fries and the Patatas bravas are amazing. Extremely crispy with a great garlic mayo/aioli sauce. I would suggest buying again. The Chorizo skewer was fine. Quite small and nothing wrong but it wasn't wowing me. The bacon wrapped dates with honey was not worth it. It was too expensive for what you get because you can make this at home yourself. Nothing fancy and try something else. For the entree I got the risotto with lobster broth and prawns. Be warned that it isn't your normal looking risotto. They put lobster broth in it or maybe turmeric and which is why it's yellow. Not the normal white one with Parmesan cheese. The rice was kind of still hard and not as smooth as normal risotto. The lobster broth and prawns made the dish but hopefully they can make it smoother. Would come back here but only if I needed to. read more

My lady and I are both great cooks, super-food-lovers, and worked in hospitality for years. So, we're not easily impressed. Matter of fact, we have a rule; Either it's a top grade dining experience or some unique & specific food spot - we don't do in between. Satis has a well balanced European menu with a delightful selection representing a few regions proudly. The plate execution is top notch, the service was spot on, and the wine selection surprising. We enjoyed ourselves and even stayed (a respectful length) after closing chatting with the team. A trip around Europe set us back $200 but it was money well spent. I want to mention that each dish came with a sauce that is f*cking amazing, and we can't wait to go back there. PS. Funny thing; We had the same Uber driver going there and back. Random? Sadly I had a very mediocre experience here yesterday. My friend and I have been wanting to check this place out for months and when we tried to go a few weeks ago they had an hour wait for a table outside (we had our dogs with us). Fortunately they are very close to the pier so we decided to stop by with the boys and the dogs to a nice dinner. First of all we definitely didn't realize that this was as fancy a place as they are trying to be so that's bad on us. When we sat down and saw the menu they had already brought out water for the dogs so even tho we weren't really in the mood for a fancy dinner we decided to make the best of it (also thank you for being so nice to our babies). We all shared the potato app which was probably the best part of the meal. My friend and I shared the spaghetti and crab (which has a pepper next to it and says it's spicy but it was quite bland and there was not a lot of crab in the dish) and the half chicken (which was good but nothing to rave about). My fiancé and my friends fiancé got pasta dishes as well and were very hungry when we were done. For the amount they charge for these dishes they expected more food... I just expected better quality and taste. I think I would come back for happy hour and see if it's any better but definitely would not come back for dinner. I have to say the ambiance outside is quite nice though... it almost has a small town European feel. read more

Winner winner chicken dinner. Had been dying to come here for around a year and just never got around to it! Went on a double date for dinner on a Friday with an 8pm res. There was a table almost getting up when we arrived so we waited at the bar and got cocktails for ~15-20 min while we waited for the table to get cleared. The 4 of us had the spicy limonada cocktails (tequila, lemonade, jalapeño, agave nectar), which were soooo good. Not too spicy and not too syrupy/sugary, just right and refreshing. When the table was ready, we were pretty ravenous and knew exactly what we wanted. We split a charcuterie board to start (3 cheeses - manchego, goat, 3 creams/3 meats - sorpressata, chorizo secco, proscuitto) that also came with mini pickles, apricot jam, fig spread, and bread. At first, there were only 6-7 slices of bread so we had to ask for more since our board was pretty large. Great quality meat and cheeses, but a tad pricy ($57). We then split a bottle of chianti that was awesome for the low price ($42). The gals in the group ordered pasta entrees - campanile with broccoli rage and sausage and ricotta (not much ricotta) and the spaghetti e vongole (seemed like it was a bit spicy). The boys got the mussels (enormous pot with probably ~50 mussels) with frites and then the 1/2 roasted chicken with a sub for goat cheese chorizo mash potatoes instead of the tuscan bean salad. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes! Ambiance was great. Dimly lit, crowded but still relatively quiet. Overall bill for 4 was $200 pre-tip. Will definitely be back as it is the perfect date spot. We went to Satis Bistro for brunch. We were a group of 5, and for the groups of 5 and more they charge mandatory 20% in tips. Maybe that's why the server wasn't very interested in us, we saw him twice, when he took an order and when we paid. (The food was brought by bus boys). We waited for almost 15 minutes for our coffee, but the coffee was really good. Mixed feelings about the food. My teenagers had hamburgers, and it was excellent. My husband's steak with fries was meh, my frittata was good. The French fries were over fried and lukewarm. So it's hit or miss with the food. For me, it's not "I will never set my foot here again" place, but I will try something different next time. read more

If I had to leave something negative about this place...it would have to be there wooden chairs. The decor is great but these chairs curve up and back and have absolutely no support, leaving the costumer forced to lean over for the entirety of the meal. A friend and I walked into this place for Memorial Day and asked to be seated outside and the hostess said they weren't taking anymore people for a while outdoors. My friend asked if we can have a table indoors instead and she said I'm not sure if we can seat you, so she asked how long the wait would be and she said 15-20 minutes but she's not sure. To say she was unfriendly is a huge understatement, she was being evasive and rude and wouldn't give us any indication of a wait time or if it was possible at all to seat us at that point. It's worth noting there was a ton of seating inside and plenty of space outdoors. It was a bad introduction so we figured if the hostess is that bad we probably shouldn't wait and see how much worse the dining experience would be. read more

I've been to Satis for dinner several times (always having a good experience), but wanted to write specifically about a recent small bridal shower I threw at Satis. I can't say enough good things about the whole experience, start to finish. The team was very quick responding about availability, menu options, pricing, etc., and very flexible with all of our requests (for example, bringing decorations and a cake). They gave us a lot of space to use, and time to set-up beforehand and no rush during the event itself. The guests were all very complimentary about the food and drinks, all of which was delicious.
