I needed a new cut so I called my old salon, but my heart sank when I was informed that Saul was no longer working there. Fortunately, I had his mobile number and was able to locate him and get the quality cut and style that I had been accustomed to for the past 8 years. As it turned out, Saul had opened up his own salon a block away on the hush hush. A couple of times, I've strayed and gone to other salons and always end back up with Saul. Actually, there was one instance when I had a cut somewhere else then immediately went back to Saul the same day to get the cut corrected. I was in tears when I left the other salon. I really like the convenience of being able to pop by during the week :) One star off because there's not much ambiance for a $55 haircut. Was in town on business and needed a quick cut. Saul cut my hair and did a fantastic job! He's really nice and listens to exactly what you want. He's been doing hair for 30+ years and he obviously enjoys it. He also showed me the correct way to handle my hair type--what brush to use, how to part my hair in the best way possible, and how to increase circulation to prevent thinning hair. Best haircut in all of Houston! I've been going to Saul's Hair Studio for 4 years now. The first time I got my hair cut at Saul's Hair Studio was by Saul himself. Awesome guy, super friendly and a great haircut. I'll never forget it because he cut my hair with two straight blades at the same time. The next time I went back for my haircut it was done by Janie. I've been getting my hair cut by her ever since (again, almost 4 years). I simply will not go to anyone else. Not only is it the best haircut I've ever had, she remembered me and how I liked my hair cut the very next time I went it. She's extremely nice, personable, easy to talk to and takes good care of you. She's never canceled an appointment on me and if something came up on my end, she worked with me to reschedule. She even remembers my friends and family's names from the stories I tell. I guess its the little things that end up going a long way. She's simply the best. The most proving thing I can say about Janie is that I've recommended over 5 friends to her and all 5 of them are now her clients. Added bonuses with the haircut include a drink if needed (water, wine or beer), a hair-wash, head massage, warm towel treatment, straight edge neck shave, styling, and to top it off a shoulder massage at the end. I've been going to Saul for about two years now. He is so friendly, does a great job at listening to what you want and offering suggestions, without being pushy. I'm not gonna lie, the first time I went I wasmt too sure, it was my first fry faircut. But, now, I love it. I have curly hair, so it gets a bit bushy in some areas more than others. Mr Saul is the man! I was in town for a couple days due to hurricane Laura, I needed a haircut desperately and am acctually quite picky when it comes to barbers but decided to take a shot with Mr Saul. When I arrive he was waiting for me I sat instantly and he started. He asked what I wanted and I explained in very few words for a quite complicated haircut and he KILLED IT. Saul's is located in my building downtown and I have continuously heard wonderful reviews about his work, so I made an appointment today. Oh My Gosh, he is fantastic! I will never let anyone else cut my hair. I have very long hair and didn't want to loose the length, but needed a style. I was able to keep the length (other than the dead ends) and get a fun new layered look. I'm going back next week for highlights. Not only is he fantastic, his price is VERY reasonable. A regular mens haircut was $30, but the stylist used scissors all over (not clippers) for a better texture and cut included washing hair (which is normally extra at other places). For people that go during lunch break, like me, I think it's a good idea to wash the hair, since you don't want to be covered with small hairs for the rest of the day. In Houston for a few days with work and stayed downtown. There were limited places nearby to get a quick haircut last minute. Called and was immediately accommodated the same morning. Saul does an excellent job, and certainly pays attention to detail. He cut my hair exactly how I asked and it came out great. Following the haircut he shampooed and conditioned my hair, accompanied with a hot towel (first time I've ever seen that at any barbershop/hair salon). Knows what he is doing and has great products, which are mainly organic. I have curly hair so it can be difficult to find a hair stylist who knows how to treat it. They got me in same day pm with Janie who had been with them since the move to this location 2 years ago. Offered something to drink, polite and quick. Took 35 minutes including wash after haircut. I went desperately to get a haircut from Saul about 2 months ago. I get there and show him a picture of what I wanted and what I did not want. He starts cutting my hair from so many directions and about halfway done I can already feel what my hair is going to look like. It looked horrible. First of all, he did not wash my hair not did he even style it. I thought that for the price of $45 I should at least have gotten a style and shampoo. On top of that is was a dry haircut. I was so disappointed that I was so angry. I still have such a hard time every morning trying to even fix it right. Mind you I have straight hair so how can someone screw up a straight hair cut. Well, he did and I now have horrible layers all over that I never asked him to do. I asked for a light trim and only to focus on my bangs and those came out even worse. I wanted to feel like I just came out of a salon, but instead, I felt like my grandbaby had chopped my hair while I was asleep. I am so disappointed and believe me I don't like to write reviews but I am still so angry that I wake up every morning trying to see how the heck I am going to fix my hair.
