I ordered a 3 piece box fried chicken box and the chosen side of French fries were the crinkle variety. My ordered was quickly ready, served piping hot and served with condiments and napkins. The fried chicken was moist with crispy skin, and the dinner rolls were very fresh and soft. Nothing special about the frozen crinkle fries, but they were served hot! A slight odd taste had me wondering about the freshness of the frying oil. I'd like to return and try their wings as the reviews recommend. This is a no frills, small restaurant in an old strip center. Don't judge this book by its cover. There was a short line but customers were quickly in and out at this lunchtime spot. read more

It was our last day in Savannah and we wanted out of the tourist traps and to find somewhere you can tell the food was cooked with love. A quick search told us we had to try Simple Soul or not consider our trip complete. A little off the beaten path that is downtown, which was so welcome, and we found this amazing place and its outstanding owner. I heard so much about this place until I had to try it.....BIG MISTAKE!!! I ordered the four piece wings with fries and got one wing, one drumstick and two breasts. It was extremely salty and due to me having hbp, I couldn't eat it. I ordered three meals (two went elsewhere) and they also complained about the salt. This little gem has been around for as long as I can remember! They're best known for the "Wing Box". It comes with 3 or more chicken wings, fries and 2 fresh rolls for around $6.00. I think they have some of THE BEST SWEET TEA IN SAVANNAH. They have other Chinese favorites as well. My kids love the pepper steak and the mandarin rice which comes with several different meats and shrimp. It's in a strip mall but don't let that stop you! The service is fast and friendly. About 10 years ago, I needed to put together finger food for a last minute event and they were able to provide a large amount of wings (I provided the platter) and they were delicious as if I had ordered a box lunch. They have a few booths if you want to eat in-house, but orders are mostly to go because of the size of the dining area. I've never had an order wrong or have been dissatisfied with food. Only downside is that they close at 6:00 p.m. and because it's a family business they do close a few weeks each year for vacation.
