Unfortunately Kasa, the property management company, and the property owner would not allow me to switch the date, give a refund, or a credit. They also would not put the property back on the market to allow for another potential traveler to stay there so I'd then get a refund or credit. It was very upsetting because it was a pretty simple mistake with a simple fix. So I had to arrange for rides, babysitting, and help with 4 kids and 2 dogs so I could drive 10 hours down to stay at the place since my reservation was still happening. Aside from that massive factor, the building is lovely, clean and so much bigger than the hotel rooms next door at Perry hall. The ceilings are high and the details in the amber unit are beautiful. I especially loved the door knobs, Molding and chandelier. The mattress was very comfortable and water pressure good. You have a washer and drier. I brought detergent but turns out they did leave some pods to use. Newer high end appliances in the kitchen area. There is no ice maker so if you need ice definitely bring a few ice trays. Love the convenient store a block away for groceries and food. Lovely view of the square. For parking we found a spot out from to park and unload. Then later I drove the car to a covered parking garage that I had reserved a spot hero spot at. Same for leaving. Got car from garage, found a spot in the street. The place is so big you could do cartwheels. Although I feel the dining room table area should be the family room. The family room (a sun room with great light) should become a second bedroom with an actual bed. The limitations of this unit are, there is only 1 bathroom. It's big but if you are a morning pooper it's a little rough. No hiding in a corner bathroom. 4th floor so we just took the elevator. Hopefully that never breaks because there are a million steps so we never even attempted them. Restaurant/cafe directly across the buildings gate on the side, has great smoothies you can order to go. The coffee shop on the corner has coffee and subs. The setup in there reminds me in friends. I think I read it's the oldest coffee shop in Savannah. The actual forest gump bench is not there. I read it's in a museum. Regardless it's a beautiful square. Central location and close to everything. Now if only the owner would work on being more flexible we'd be at 5 stars.

Our first night we couldn't get the TV or the wi-fi to work?! The next morning when we mentioned it, one of the guests said that someone mentioned that they had problems, too. Of course, we said something to the person who worked there and they said they'd had problems with the wifi and gave us the staff wifi password which solved that problems. They said they would have someone look at the tv, but it still didn't work that night. Turns out a previous guest had used it to play video games and it wasn't reset. That is something that needs to be looked at before the next guests arrive. Also, we didn't have any bath products in the shower, so I had to go down and ask for them. One of the drawers in the armoire got seriously stuck and the lampshades are so dark that we had to remove them just so we could see well enough to read at night. There are only 4 parking spaces attached to the property in the back although we are allowed to use another parking lot where there is no direct access to. The good is that it's a neat old house that is very close to Forsyth Park and the back is really pretty with all the wisteria in bloom. On the ground level in the back there is a really pretty fountain/fish pond area. The room we were in had a shared balcony off the back with stairs that access the back ground area. Lots of neat antiques throughout the house. Great front porch. Breakfast was wonderful and they gave you options as to when you wanted to eat. I liked the tea bar set up in the smaller dining room, too. Some very different teas, too. I'm afraid to say that I wouldn't recommend it.

We always looked forward to returning to Savannah partly because we loved the DPH so much. For this reason, we decided to book a family holiday trip and stayed here over the Christmas week of 2013 (about 4-5 months ago). The inn is under new management/ownership and things just are NOT the same. There always used to be very friendly people running the place- they would always talk to you about where and what to eat, fun activities, local happenings, etc. But now that's not really the case. Also, they did make an exception for our dogs to stay, although they are not dog friendly. This kind of turned into a bit of a nightmare, when the innkeeper's girlfriend Emily was around. She had frantically mentioned the dogs were heard scratching at the door when we were gone. She told me she was really concerned so i offered to show her the inside of the room. She said no. Why not just come see that there is no damage or issue and put it to rest? There's a long story involved with things like this happening the entire stay. If they were uncomfortable, then they should have just not let the dogs stay. Mid-stay, which was xmas eve day, Emily insisted we board the dogs somewhere, but there were no openings that last minute. Colin and Tim were the only saving graces this place had. They made bfast each morning, and all the food was great. They were sweet and helpful when around. They also mentioned Emily has a very bad tendency to over react, and said they had been alone with the dogs for multiple days with NO ISSUES at all. It was a relief to have both of them there after Emily had made us extremely uncomfortable. The rooms had old TVs, and i know there are so many things to do in Savannah, but does that mean you can't enjoy TV in bed before passing out? This week there was literally not even a local channel working- my entire family thought this was a little crazy- especially at over 230$ per night! Another issue we had was NO housekeeping/room cleaning over the holiday week. They must have that issue often, as i see that complaint on other yelp reviews. We brought this to their attention, and they ended up giving a one night credit on an 8 night stay. Not too impressive. Sadly, i will not be staying at the DPH going forward. There are too many other gorgeous B&Bs in Savannah to waste time here- although it never used to be like this!

But the worst was the bathhouse. Hair, trash, mold were in all 3 shower stalls. & Stayed that way for all 4 days. A sign on the mirror stated for women to please clean up after themselves. It appeared that was the only clean up these bathrooms received. I would not date step any the shower without shower shoes on. There were also several people hanging around outside the bathrooms smoking. It's hard to believe there are still so many people who are so oblivious to how nasty smoking is. My husband confirmed the men's restroom was every bit as bad as the women's. I feel really bad for the people living there (and there appears to be a LOT of permanent residents) & having to use the showers daily.

The lobby is sensory overload when you first enter it. It's colorful with silver dinosaur bones and pterodactyls overhead. I kid you not! There's an entrance to an African themed bar which served African inspired dishes, which I'd never had before. All this may seem like it shouldn't go together, but it does. The rooms were stylishly elegant. The bathroom is spacious and well stocked with bathrobes, slippers and quality toiletries. The beds and pillows were plush and cozy. Since we were there for a conference, the ample work area was appreciated. There is a chaise lounge right next to the window where I watched steamboats and cargo ships sail by on the Savannah River. The location was predictably right next to the river. I spent a whole day just walking on the River Walk with a variety of restaurants, dessert shops, candy stores, bars, cafes and souvenir shops. While it was geared towards tourists, which I was, I didn't have to go far from my hotel to get a taste of Savannah. There are historical buildings complete with the moss covered tress and cobblestone streets (which sounds quaint until you walk on it without twisting an ankle). Coming from hotel industry, I can appreciate a well run 5 Diamond hotel. While the stay was extra ordinary, there were a few things I wasn't fond of. The hotel has 3 parts to it. We were staying in the 3 Muses, which is a separate building and bit of a walk from the lobby. The walk isn't an easy one, which was an issue for my elderly father. Since we visited in the summer and the weather was hot and humid, walking out of the airconditioned lobby to trek over to the 3 Muses was less than ideal with my glasses fogging up at each entry and exit. But these were minor hiccups in an otherwise fantastic stay.

We were pleased with room placement with balcony in furthest east Bldg (3Muses). We were advised water-facing rooms can be noisy. On that note, by the third and final night, Friday, this past weekend, we learned that the cobblestone street outside was quite noisy as well. Fortunately, on weekend, just after midnight, revelry noise level moves down from the billiard Halls across from our room. (Ear plugs were furnished in the room :-) Even so, we enjoyed the balcony for the mornings and pre-dinner hour: it was ambience into our room as we were getting ready for our various comings/goings. The medium-ish sized pool featured brrrrr water; not yet nuked by summer's power! But it was enjoyable for a refresh. It got unbelievably crowded on Friday afternoon, so glad we generally came earlier in the day. Fortunately my work Conference: buffet style food supplied by JW was above-average, 4* food for Conference food (3* if judged on its own merit). But we enjoyed the on-site dining from which we tried small plates from the African restaurant, fish at the seafood bar outside the main building; my wife enjoyed the breakfast dishes from the coffee shop in the main building.
