The property is very clean and well maintained. Our cabin was clean and spacious for our family of 5. The staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions or needs we had. This is one of our favorite KOA's! We drove from Cape Coral and arrived there late in the afternoon. We were escorted as usual by one of the KOA staff and headed right to our site. It was a beautiful site, right on the lovely lake where we could watch the swans gracefully swim by, There is a bird sanctuary that is part of the lake. We were amazed by all the flying birds at night. We sat outside, lit a fire and barbecued dinner. Normally we are always in a rush, but this time we decided to stay for two nights. The shopping is great and we went to Kroger's and Publix, instead of eating out at a restaurant. Pooler is a large city near by and we were able to get Freckles a jacket at Pet Smart. Dave also bought some things at Home Depot. We had a delightful two nights before heading to South Carolina and heavy traffic. We love the staff here and really feel welcomed when we return. read more

While traveling south on I-95 this was the perfect location to stop for a few days and one I would recommend. The staff here is extremely helpful and friendly especially our spotter, he made sure we were all set up and the site worked for our rig. The park sits in a beautiful setting with plenty of shade next to a 35 acre lake that guest have full access to. The location is the perfect place if you're looking to spend some time in nearby Savannah. KOA's are notorious for having very little space between the sites I found the sites here are separated by enough green space between the sites comparably and there's plenty of room to maneuver your rig in and out. This location seems to be very popular with over-nighters and the staff seems to group them together for easy exit. The check-in time is noon so there is a steady flow of campers getting set up until the sun sets. I booked our site using the KOA App which is amazingly easy as was the check-in once we arrived. We did have some solicitation during our stay from RV Detailers looking for work which is a little annoying and I didn't see of the guest during our stay contract this type of work. Considering the location and proximity to Savannah I thought the prices were very reasonable, they also have a fully stocked camp store which is very convenient. First, the employees are TOP NOTCH! True hospitality. There is a pool here which was awesome to cool off. There are canoe rentals for free to go out on the water. WiFi is included. The tent sites are a little close but still enough space to do whatever you need. The views are impeccable. A dog park is on the premises. Lived here for 6 months in a 1 bedroom cabin, lovely place, well kept, clen facilities, immaculate camp site, great prices friendly staff.

I was a guest in one of the tent sites and overall it was a great stay. Though the camps are closer together than I had hoped for and there was no areas to go exploring. Please note you will need your own tent! Check in is at 12pm and check out is at 11am. Most of my time was spent in the (3-8ft) pool till it closed at about 8pm. They do not have a hot tub, they do however have a (1ft) kitty pool. If you plan on swimming, bring your own towels, sunscreen and entertainment. There is also a playground. They provided 2 outlets on the camp sight, I reccomend bringing an extention cord with more if needed. Water faucet on camp sight, which I only used it to wash my hands. Then wifi for 1 device, $5 for anything extra. I had a great view of the lake from my tent. If you'd like to rent a boat, they do have that as an option. Plenty of swans, geese, and I did see a few turtles. (Beware of aligators, I didn't see any, but there was a sighn around the lake.) If you have your own animals they are welcome as long as they don't bother other campers, there's a potty spot for them. You'll have parking on the campsite for 1 vehicle, that I know, I'd advise calling about any additional transports. There's a picnic table and a raised sand bed for your tent sight along with a grill and a firepit. Bring something to sit on if you don't wanna move the picnic table. As for making the fire I'd suggest bringing your own wood/charcoal/firestarter. They have a little store that you'll see when you check in open from 8am-8pm if I'mnot too badly mistaken, if you forgot anything it should be there. Oh and If you plan to do laundry bring some quarters. Can't remember the prices because I just hung mine on the clothesline, but I'd say at least $5 and you would also need soap. Their bathrooms were clean and had a couple shower areas, if you plan to use them bring your own towels and toiletrees. Lastly they do take care of the trash for you l, if you put it in a trashbag and lay it out between 8-11am. Rented a deluxe cabin on the water. They had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen had the basic things we needed to cook all our meals. There is a gas grill on the spacious deck. Our cabin was right on the water and we enjoyed watching the swans and geese. Make sure to bring bug spray. The small flying bugs didn't bite, but they were all over the deck area. We usually stay in the small cabins, but having our own kitchen and bathroom were well worth the extra cost. We were unhappy with our site and that the pool was still closed. So we asked what the policy was for wanting to cancel. They told me me we were 15 minutes over the one hour refund policy sorry not sorry! So we were charged for the whole night. The lake is beautiful but the camp ground is mostly a large parking lot. The tent sites are on the lake which sucks for rv's. I see now why the reviews are all bad for anybody who has to interact with the front desk. They should have to take smile lessons! read more

They cured COVID at this KOA as none of the office staff wore a mask and have a little attitude problem. Don't let them put you in site # 28 if you have a class A or you will need to exit the wrong direction to get out. Nice park overall and would have enjoyed a waterfront site if available. This is our second time here. We stayed in a deluxe lot this time which was nice but pricy. It was close to $100 a night. We like the park but they are a bit militant but probably needed to keep the park nice. If you are near the lake the birds can be noisy. The deluxe lot has a nice fire pit and bbq. The spaces are close together. The speed in the park is 5 mph and they will roll up at 10 miles an hour on their golf cart to yell at you. Anyway decent for a KOA but the bathrooms could be cleaner. Upon entering this Cabin I was excited to start my week, everthing looked nice pulling in, the cabin (Kampers cabin 2 rooms) was kinda private with a great view of the water. Then we got closer to it, there looked to have recently been a fire in the pit because it still had smoke coming from it, then we got to the porch and there was this blue gunk on it, kinda looked like candy or something. When we opened the door is was super hot inside even though its supposed to have an AC, we went over to the AC and it was bit blowing as good as a normal AC. My husband reported it to the office where they said there was nothing they could do, it was just a cabin and it wasn't insulated (I've stayed at a KOA in Myrtle Beach and you can not only leave the door of the cabin open all-day but if you don't turn it off it will freeze you out) looking further I noticed cracks in the walls you could actually see outside through and the AC was right next to them it was bit centered in the cabin like others I've been in. We always had mosquitoes in the cabin even though we only opened the door long enough to run in as fast as possible due to the fact we went out and bought fans to help cool it down (worked some but the lowest the temp ever got was 80 and that was at night) and there was a fly infestation by the door of the cabin. The swans were wonderful to see in the mornings, but the bathrooms were a good walk away especially with 3 kids. The playground and pool looked nice, but this was during Covid so we couldn't even take a dip in the pool to cool off unless it was scheduled first. There was now shower pressure, but at least the restooms we clean and air-conditioned, sometime we walked to them to cool down. We left after day 2, luckily they gave us a refund for the days we payed for but didn't stay for. This would be a great place for fall or winter for people who don't have young children. It would be an amazing place if the added a bathroom closer to the 2 bedroom cabins. Great little spot near Savannah. We stopped in for an overnight on a spring break trip. Spots are tight and gravel but ours (13) was perfectly level for our motor home. We backed up to the lake and had a fabulous view of the swans. They provided was free and a bag of wood was $6. They had a decent pool (although the kids pool needs to be cleaned), a good sized laundry room and a nice camp store. There was a group party in the main building, so could not get a peek. The staff that take you to your site were super friendly and he ran up to get our fire bowl and wood, very nice. We paid about $40 for one night. We were in the front part of the park, there appeared to be long term spots in the back. There were also spots for cabin rental, tents and couple large lodges. The staff that this location are very nasty! We called ahead and made arrangements to fill our propane tanks and they were happy to do so on the phone. Upon arrival, no one was available and they wouldn't even let us sit there have lunch and wait for the worker to return. This is a very nice campground that has lovely lakeside spots. We had a terrific pull-thru space with a fenced in patio that was great for our dog. It had seating for 8+, a grill, and a fire pit. The staff couldn't have been any nicer and the facilities were very well-maintained. The reason for the low rating is because there were quite a few residents who hung around the laundry room all day. Also, the full-time spots were cluttered with things you wouldn't expect - like gym equipment. It was just a little odd vacationing with so many full-time "campers." read more

We have been here twice, once before they added the extra full timers and the "Lake View Village" Each time we have stayed a week. Had many conversations with a maintenance worker. I was concerned about the homeless people in the park. He said oh they are here all the time. We don't use campground bathrooms unless WE really need to. Well the bathrooms do not have it coded to stop just anyone off the road to use them. On my stay I saw 2 men walking into the bathrooms, with everything they have on their back. Also a very dirty women and dog walk into the womens bathroom. I am not sure we will be back. read more

Convenient location just off I-95 for guests passing through, yet filled with families and beautifully maintained making it a great option if your vacationing in Savannah and don't want to be too close to downtown (about 20 minute away). Staff was super friendly and very helpful. Noticed a playground with newer equipment and pool as we drove in, but kids never had time to enjoy them. We also noticed two pull-through sites right upfront that could be mistaken for check-in parking spaces. When I asked about them, I was told they're reserved for quick-stop overnight guests -- what a great idea! They only have water and electric, but if you're just passing through, that's good enough. They're positioned so you can pull out onto the highway without driving through he entire camground. The large fishing lake that runs the length of the entire campground offers a great sunset view, the wi-fi in our site (#37) had a strong signal and the camp store was large with a great selection. Highly recommend this KOA; for quick-stop AND family vacation destination. read more

My coworker happened to stumble upon this KOA site when we were working response and recovery efforts for Hurricane Matthew. Once the evacuations were lifted we were able to get the delux cabin (this cabin has a full bath). This cabin is right on the huge lake, swans, ducks, turtle very peaceful. The cabin is great, kitchen, full refrigerator, nice seating area and the bed is way comfortable. The sofa bed pulls out and blows up to a comfortable air mattress. Good shower pressure and a full tube. Bring mosquito bug spray or candles, those little suckers are big here. This was my first experience with a KOA and I would seek them out for my future travels. read more

The Savannah South KOA is my absolute home away from home. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate you and constantly patrol the grounds ensuring everyone's safety. The lake is beautiful and full of fish, turtles, geese, ducks, and beautiful swans. Don't get too close though, I have come to learn that swans can be territorial and aggressive towards each other and people. Guests at the KOA have access to a laundry facility, outdoor pool, community game and activity room, and they even offer free boat rentals. While the boats are only small Jon boats, with a few oars, they are perfect for a dad teaching his two little girls how to fish. There are 2 boats available on a first come first serve basis. Can't say enough about how much I love staying here. I have been renting a small cabin. It comes fully furnished and includes cable, a full size gas range, full sized refrigerator, microwave, and even a grill on the porch. I have a queen bed and a foldout couch in the living room. Cups, plates, cutlery, towels, and linens also included. Perfect place to stay. read more

I was camping with my family and when we arrived a man escorted us to our spot and helped us back in. They had patrols drive around all day, which was nice. The bathrooms sadly aren't private but are still pretty nice. Each spot has a fireplace and a bench, some even have sandboxes and grills which is pretty awesome. Some of the spots are close to the road but the ones not close to the road is near a railroad where trains come here and there, but not a big deal. There is a beautiful lake where swans, ducks and egrets fly and swim all day and nestle down at night. Though swans are beautiful I heard they can be aggressive, but the ones I encountered have left me alone. There is a pool, hot tub, and playground as well. Overall it's a pretty nice Koa and I'd stay again. read more

Stayed in the "B" section from Dec to early March. This was our 10th consecutive year staying there so we've seen good times and bad. The rules they ask you to read and sign were not being enforced. The manager appeared to shy away from confrontations resulting in several residents violating rules others were expected to follow. There also seemed to be a lot of help that spent their time riding around in golf carts not accomplishing much. Some in the front were friendly, others not. Can't fault the management for the weather but they could have done a better job distributing the gravel to spots with standing water. Also, one of the streetlights went out and was reported to the manager by me. It was a month later, the day after we left, I was told it was fixed. Seems like a minor thing unless you're trying to walk your dog in the pitch dark with cars flying by going to the villas. Don't know if we'll be back. Understand there was a "come to Jesus meeting " with the owner and staff. Hope things change or the better because we used to enjoy our time there. read more

This was a beautiful campground to visit, as we had reservations for two nights here in the one room cabin, my daughter and I had a fabulous time visiting. The views of the lake were amazing, we just walked right out of our cabin, and were greeted by swans, geese, and other birds just swimming in the lake. It was a very serene scene which made it very relaxing to just sit by the lake and watch the birds swimming in there. The bathrooms were the best I have ever seen at any campground, they smelled wonderful and I can't even get my bathroom at home smelling that good. You can tell that the people that ran this campground really cared about the appearance of their campground. I recommend this place to anyone, it is a very safe, serene and relaxing campground if you are visiting Savannah to come back to at the end of the day. This KOA is ok. Close to Savannah. The sites get extremely muddy with many puddles when it rains. It's an older KOA. The roads maneuvering through the campground are narrow and right. The staff is amazing and very helpful! read more

07/25/2020 All of the cable channels fuzzy can't watch. Pull through is not pull through, the site is small and must disconnect, truck had to park sideways. Went to the pool told half capacity, norm is 80 so 40 can be in the pool, asked do I sign in it's 6:00pm. I was told no because capacity was met. I look out an say there in not 40 people in the pool. The lady counts 15 people and I said this is not 40. She told me not to sign in that I could get in but if anyone else comes I must leave. What she was saying you can sign in and leave to save the day for swimming and not swim. So 40 people sign up before 9:00am and leave the pool will sit empty all day and even if empty you may not swim because 40 people signed up, This is horrible I don't think this is how things are to be interpreted. You should have to sin in and out and base 40 on the actual people in the pool. Therefore our family was not permitted to use the pool when we stayed only two nights/ one day. We Piaf for full hookup and no cable because could not see it. Glad we did not pay the yearly fee for KOA when we don't have any amenities. Could be prejudice matter as not a member or out of state you don't get fair treatment. BEWARE DON'T STOP AT KOA IF YOU HOPE TO USE THE POOL. read more

This location is beautiful. The staff were very helpful...until it came time to extend our stay. We had reserved one night and indicated we might spend a second. The staff authorized a second night with our permission. When we went to the office to extend, we were told that we had been upgraded to a pull through suite because of our late arrival. We were then told that if we wanted to stay, we would be charged the extra rate. Or only other option was to move to another site. We were pretty annoyed by this. I know I didn't choose to upgrade me, and I didn't appreciate being squeezed for an extra $14. Since getting the rate we had been promised would have required us to move anyway, we just packed up and moved on to another site. So on a night when the site was not sold out, the management lost a $35 dollar sale over greed...not what I consider southern hospitality. read more
