This is one of the most unique RV Park experiences around. It's family owned and operated and all the staff are super friendly. You can pet and interact with all the farm animals including the horses which we love. Even though it feels like a very secluded farm experience, you are less than a 10 minute drive to the historic district of Savannah and an Uber ride is very easy to get. Beautiful park, but unless you enjoy being slowly roasted like a rotisserie chicken, & scolded repeatedly for not calling to get a better spot, avoid staying here in the summer. Honestly, you might want to avoid it at all times due to the relentless noise. Between the train tracks running right through the property at all hours, heavy traffic buzzing from nearby roads, and military planes and helicopters rattling the sky all day from your neighboring military airbase, peace and quiet simply do not exist here. Another reviewer suggested using earplugs, but trust me: nothing is going to save your sanity when a full-blown freight train blares its horn at 3 a.m. every morning! We booked way in advance online for a week-long plus stay, only to be placed in a spot with absolutely zero shade. When we asked to move, the head staff, Leslie's favorite catchphrase was "just call us next time." Good to know & thanks so much for this lovely help, Leslie! To cool down, you can always hike an eighth of a mile to their very nice pool. Just be prepared for the "gravel gauntlet" (similar to your site, by the way)--navigating loose rocks in flip-flops while carrying pool gear in the heat isn't much fun. Ultimately, we've stayed in cheaper, friendlier, and much more accommodating places. What a wonderful spot to stay only 10 minutes from Savannah. My little one loved the goats and horses and running around the property. They have a small store in the office building with typical camping goods and a few local treats for sale. Staff was friendly and helpful and always said hello and asked if we needed anything when they walked by our campsite. We came in after the sun went down and staff helped us find our camp spot. There is a small fitness center which is a bonus! The bathrooms were clean but dated with squashy floors. We would stay here again if in the area! read more

This place is a quiet little gem. There are just the right amount of sites to give it a homey feel. The property is beautiful and exploring the property is a must. They have a pool, lounge swings, a clubhouse with a back porch with a tin roof which looks out over the lake. It was nice to listen to the rain and swing on the swing. We arrived at 11 so there was an extra $10 charge. The sec d day of our stay they hosted a wi e and snack night which was fun as we met many great people. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you are prepared to listen to raging rap music until 10-11pm on a Tuesday!!!! This place has got to be kidding me. We were on an RV trip and decided to stay here to check out Savannah. It's a pretty equestrian property, but they failed to tell us that it's also an event venue and they have raging parties until the late evening on weekday nights. We stayed here two nights and both nights they had raging parties at the facility literally 200 yards from our RV. So unbelievably rude to not let RV customers know that they will have no peace and tranquility while staying on this property. STAY AWAY!!! read more

We had space 18 which was gravel with a picnic table and fire pit. The spots are basic got the job done The thing that makes this park stand out is the grounds which are beautiful. The customer service was also wonderful and helpful. They even had times that I forgot to bring and needed. Very close to downtown. The down side which I was surprised was not mention by others, the park sits in between a train track and a Highway. The daily 3:30 am train who loves their horn which runs thought-out the day, sometimes as late as 11pm. The racing cars on the highway late into the night, both of which are not the parks fault but can impact your stay, especially if you're a light sleeper, or want to enjoy a quiet evening. Make sure you bring ear plugs and mosquito spray and you will have a great time. Also with so much room on the grounds a designated dog park area would be nice. read more

This is among the best campgrounds we have ever stayed in. Recently, on a trip down I-95, we decided to explore Savannah. Because we only planned to stay a couple of days we didn't do much research on RV parks; we only considered distance and price. I am SO glad lucked in to Red Gate Campground! It's a little patch of paradise right along the Georgia coast. Check-in was a breeze. The staff was professional while still making us feel right at home. One staff member apologized profusely that the fitness center was closed due to the 'Rona. I told him that wasn't a problem for us, but he acted as though the park was embarrassed about the closure. The site we were assigned was wide, shaded, and had full hook-ups. Best of all, it was semi-secluded so we didn't have to contend with any disturbances. I'll forever hold on to the memory of those mornings there, blowing the steam from my coffee, under the pecan trees draped with Spanish moss, shrouded in fog, with the horses in the paddock snorting to welcome the new day. I had moved here after a night in another campground that had a lot of problems. It was like coming into the light! Beautiful location, super convenient to Savannah's historic district, great infrastructure. Welcoming staff. Sites are in an open field so you are lined up next to other RVs but people are very friendly. Site is level and it was easy to back in my Class B. WiFi is great. My only issue is that there are only two bathrooms with a toilet and shower in each. It would be better if toilets and showers were available separately. There was a bit of a back-up in the morning waiting for access to one of the bathrooms. I heard the trains at night but that didn't bother me. I kind of liked it. Wish there was a fenced in dog run but we had beautiful grounds to explore on leash. read more

Our 4 night stay was amazing in September. The grounds are beautiful and centrally located to visiting the city of Savannah and surrounding areas. We were on a 2-1/2 month trip exploring the East Coast and this RV Park/Venue was very quiet. The grounds are kept up so nice. While we were there 3 weddings occured at the facility, they were in their own area and not near the campground so we did not hear any noise. Staff was helpful with questions regarding the Savannah area and the laundry room was very conveneint. I would defiantly recommend if looking for an RV site. read more

First time at the campground and enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Convenient location and overall peaceful. Full hook up, however dirt/gravel parking and very dusty roads in, out and around the property. Thankfully we got some rain the day we left so it helped rinse our RV. WiFi was good and good cell phone coverage if that's important to you. Lots of property to walk and enjoy. Beautiful horses in the pasture, goats, designer chickens, roosters and peacocks also call this place home and are available to visit anytime. No feeding though. Three lakes add to the peaceful ambiance if you like to sit and enjoy nature. They have an outdoor pool and event space that is beautiful. Very nice place. Lots of room on our rv site and plenty of room to walk our dogs. The staff are great, very accommodating. We were very close to downtown Savannah which was super. For the week we were there they offered bagels, scones and coffee two mornings and donuts one morning. They had two happy hours with complimentary beer and wine with snacks. Very relaxing park. Lush setting, lots of trees, flowering plants, beautiful to walk around and see the horses. Sites are very large with plenty of privacy. Lots of room to take a walk, great spot for campfires. Customer service was good. My husband made reservations for a camp site months ago. We arrived after a long days drive only to find out that the site we booked was a primitive site with no hook ups. It's June and it's hot. The woman at the desk seemed to take great pleasure in telling us this information. She stated she noticed it weeks ago and thought about calling us to confirm that was the site we wanted but she just decided to wait until we arrived. She also said that the site gets booked mistakenly on a regular basis and they recently updated their website so people would see that it has no water/electricity. Of course they had no other sites available and no other campsites in town had anything available either. Completely ruined our trip to Savannah. I could not believe how rude the lady was or understand how she could take such great pleasure in seeing people stranded. I will never stay here or recommend it to anyone. read more

It is mind blowing to know you are so close to the city of Savannah as this campground feels like a world away. It is just heaven with a pool, beautiful farm animals, huge grounds to explore, a skip away from amazing food in Savannah, club house, bathroom/showers in AC (especially important with 90+ degree weather), fitness room, washer/dryer, beautiful pond with swings to watch and relax, and so much more. Our entire family was blown away with this campground. The pictures cannot do it justice. The staff is just as wonderful as the actually place. They are kind, friendly, and take pride in what they do. We recommend you take the time to explore the entire campground as hidden beauty is everywhere. Make a nice picnic basket and enjoy this area. Excellent stay for 5 days. Beautiful grounds and close to all things Savannah! Pet friendly and great customer service from staff.

first of all, the property itself is absolutely gorgeous... and while it was aesthetically pleasing, that's about all it was. The cost of a nightly stay is very high for what you get in the main RV spaces. There are three spots in the campground that are worth having, but they do not include sewer and one does not include water either. These sites as C1, C2, and C3. They face one of their three gorgeous lakes and are shaded by two huge trees. If you're going to stay in this campground, I recommend using your black and gray tanks and insisting on one of these three spaces. The location is very convenient to Savannah and it takes only about 8 minutes to get to downtown. The utilities that are provided are okay. The electricity was consistent even when all the other campers were using their A/Cs. The water tasted okay and the pressure was very good. However, during our stay, the water turned itself off and it was very challenging to get in touch with the staff. Several voicemails had to be left and after about an hour of trying to contact them, they finally got back to us and our fellow campers next door with a short call saying their were "working on it." About 20 minutes later the water was back on so to be fair--they are helpful, just slow and hard to get in touch with. Wifi is basically non-existent here. You can occasionally see it from the spots near the lake, but getting a signal from any of the main spaces doesn't seem possible. The clubhouse itself is very nice. It featured a big screen TV, a pool table, lots of local brochures of Savannah attractions. There is a pool, on-site laundry facilities, and a fitness room as well... but it seemed like it was more a part of the staff housing so I felt very uncomfortable using any of these things. Pets are allowed on the premises with no additional charge. There is no fenced park, so all exercise has to be done on-leash. One of the owners of the property allows their Australian Shepard to roam around without a collar which could be a problem for people who either don't like larger dogs or who have dogs that are not friendly with other dogs. The Shepard seemed very nice and will play fetch with you but, since it was hard to get a hold of anyone at the office, if there was a conflict the odds of someone being around to aid you are slim. Again, it's a bit on the higher-end of pricing so I wouldn't stay here again for more than a few nights--but I would consider returning! All in all, I would recommend this as a pleasant place to stay for people who are dog-friendly, self-sufficient, and looking for a place to park while they check out Savannah. read more

Campground is on an old dairy farm. Very quaint and full of charm. Pros: very close to downtown Savannah. Horse back riding is available. Cons: very close to downtown. The sirens from the fire department and police department are almost endless. But not as bad as being next to a train track for the third largest sea port in the United States. This is not a place for peace and quiet. But rather a place that you would stay for a short period to hop to down town. I was a guest at your RV park 24-26 of July. I wasn't impressed with the customer service of the park. I wasn't able to pull into my site on time because the couple there before us didn't want to pack up in wet grass. They left trash, that we were left to clean up. Cigarettes and broken glass were left everywhere. We were pulling trash out of the bushes. When I called the front desk, she said someone would come by and pick it up... no one ever did. No one ever apologized for our hour an a half late check in or the trash we had to look at our entire stay BUT when I checked out the owner made sure to tell me she charged those people for late check out. (however didn't offer to compensate me in anyway) I signed up for a good Sams membership in the office as well, something I thought that would be more convenient then doing online but it has caused me nothing but a headache. Good Sam can't find me in the system using ANY of my information and when I called Good Sams, they told me that they didn't see anything had been processed and to call the campground. I called Red Gate more than once to get this sorted out as we have just started traveling cross country and this membership is something that should be saving me money but instead I am negative -$29.00 for NOTHING. When Red Gate finally got back to me they tried to blame it on Good Sams giving me a different membership number. I would have appreciated a little more honesty from them because I know that's not what happened. read more

Camp ground is beautiful with lots of amenities, including facilities for horses. Very animal friendly. Just beware, if you plan to check in late, past 10pm, you will get the wrath of the manager. Just spent a week at Red Gate, and this was one of the best parks we have ever stayed at. Nice level site, plenty of space on both sides, full hookups, and close to downtown Savannah. No enclosed dog run was a bummer for our dalmatians, but plenty of ground to cover on leashed walks. read more

From the guest previous reviews and website pictures We are so excited to visit Savannah,Ga from Huntington Beach, Ca for our 1st time. We arrived in the late afternoon on a Monday June 1, 2020 and was easy to find. The moment we arrived onto the property we could not wait to explore. We went into the office and was greeted by Connie (I believe) the southern hospitality was alive and true. We had no expectations and with that we were given the Best spot in the house Spot 17 very private, a view of the beautiful lawn outside our door, View of the tree line and the view of one of the lakes. Close walking distance to the office and outside restrooms(which was super cute) Everything was so wonderful for the 4 days and 3 nights, we cant wait to come back. We also took a Uber into downtown was about 10-15 mins away and was about $13.00 to $15.00. Laundry is $2.00 for washer and $2.00 for the dyer. The only things I would have to add is... and this is only because this was our first time camping in the south is Mosquito's and ants and when they did lawn service.1) went to Walmart and bought ant barrier stakes and it work perfect. 2) Mosquito spray on and Citronella candles it worked and helped. 3) Lawn service I was not aware about and it is a good thing to ask during your stay when they come around,because they came right up to the door. I was a little surprise how close they got while sitting outside and we quickly got over it. So this is NOT CONS just FYI. Thank you for making our stay a perfect one. read more

We visited the campground. We have a pop up so we needed to use the bathrooms and showers. Only 2 bathrooms and 2 showers and they were awful as you can see from the pictures below. Shower head falling out of wall, wet dirty towels on floor, someone else soap in shower, sink gross, no cover on electrical outlet. First day when we went to use the bathrooms there was no soap in either bathroom and an employee said he would fill it up. Next morning we go to get showers and both soaps still empty!!! Talked to the lady in the office and she was rude to me "stating I should have told her". I explained to her that there was a male employee that we told she seemed annoyed. This is a beautiful place. But my gosh, overnight, the trains roll through so close they felt like it was right outside our coach. They sound the horns multiple times as they roll through. I thought we were being punked from a scene from "My Cousin Vinny". I did not sleep either night I was there. Sadly, if you sleep light, prepare to be woken up. MULTIPLE TIMES.
