I have three Bradford pear trees that had grown out of my control. I needed someone to give them a trimming and restore them to a state which I could do light trimming in the future. Looking for someone to take on the task, I searched Yelp for a reliable recommended tree expert. I found that Sexytrees.com had an excellent five star rating from previous customers so I contacted Alex Llamas, the owner. We set up an appointment and he came out to my house on the time and date as scheduled to assess the situation. Alex is an arborist and immediately knew the name of my trees. He pointed out which larger limbs were in danger of splitting off from the tree trunks in the future if they were not removed during the trimming. Alex is a very easy going personable guy and after talking with him I felt confident that he would do a very good job. Once Alex and his crew arrived as scheduled and got in motion, I was impressed with the agile tree climbers and the way they used their ropes and saws as they moved up and about from limb to limb. The ground crew was just as impressive as they immediately gathered the fallen limbs and branches and carted them off to their chipper which was in my driveway. Branches that had fallen over my fence and onto my neighbor's yard they also gathered for the chipper. I knew they did a good cleanup there also, because I did not get any complaints from my neighbor after the job was complete. I liked the fact that as the trimming was taking place, one of the ground crew members had a laser light which he gave to me to point out anything on the trees which I wanted removed in addition to what they had removed already. In conclusion, if you are looking for professional people to work on your trees that do an excellent job including cleanup, I highly recommend Alex and his wonderful crew at Sexytrees.com. Through ChipDrop (a free delivery service of wood chips), this company delivered and expertly brought a large load of wood chips to my driveway. The driver/representative was skillful in placing the chips in the area i designated...carefully inspecting the area as he was dumping the chips to make sure that the chips didn't impinge on my neighbor's driveway. The delivery was quick, professional, and gave me a chance to get in some extra exercise to move the chips from the driveway to my back yard. read more

We needed to have several limbs trimmed from a large tree near a sidewalk. SexyTrees came out and proposed a plan to trim back certain limbs to alleviate the safety issue while ensuring the health of the tree. I originally wanted three estimates for a redwood tree removal in our front yard. The tree, while healthy, had become extremely large and was encroaching on our roofline and the neighbors driveway. I'm not quite sure whether this guy thinks he is God's gift to trees or just an arrogant tree doctor, but the tag line "sexy trees" should have indicated to me that something was awry. Unapologetically showed up late to appointment, spent most of his time explaining how he wanted to do as little as possible, and then provided an exorbitant quote for those minimal services. We had Alex & his crew cut down a very large Poplar on our property in Lafayette. It was not an easy job as the tree borders a dry creek bed. Other companies wanted to bring in a large crane which made it a very complicated issue. Alex's crew was able to do it safely without the crane. The guys were great, thorough in their clean-up. We needed some major trimming on our Sycamore and Silk tree, and to take out a Cypress. Based on the review, I called Alex for an estimate. He was very thorough and came prepared with a green laser light to project onto tree branches. We looked at the trees from different angles and he explained in details of his recommendations for them. Alex and his crew were able to come back in a couple of days to start working on them. Alex and his assistant spent three hours in our backyard in Walnut Creek this morning trimming several California redwood trees to give the yard more light, remove dead branches and remove branches that were interfering with our neighbors yards. Alex was very good at listening to what we wanted done and he also took the time to explain a few other ideas that would improve our redwoods and give us a better view of our landscape. He was also very careful to not damage any fences and practiced safety for himself and his associate when removing branches very high up in the redwoods. Alex took the time to thoroughly clean the yard of all the debris. We will ask him back in October to do more work on our redwoods and those redwoods that encroach over our fence from several neighbors' yards. read more

I first found Alex (Llamas Tree Service) through the ISA (International Society of Aboriculture). Alex is both a certified arborist and is also qualified for tree risk assessment. I cross referenced his company with Yelp and saw all 5 star reviews and decided to give him a call. His receptionist team picked up immediately, reached out to Alex and informed me he was in the area and if was available he could give me a free site assessment (going rate is about $200). I scheduled him immediately and he was a great to work with. Called to inform my tenant he was on his way and gave me a call after to report his findings, backing it up with info sheets and pictures. Llamas Tree Service did a great job thinning our oak tree to raise the canopy over our driveway. It looked great without looking like someone trimmed the tree. He also helped us with a large tree limb that fell from our very large Diadara cedar tree in our backyard. The limb fell and filled our entire backyard and we needed it removed and the tree inspected to make sure it wasn't more of a problem than a heavy limb coming down on a windy day. They were able to come out very quickly, inspect the tree as well as the other cedar in the backyard and give me and estimate right away AND he would take care of it that day! I called two other local companies and they couldn't even come out to look at it for a week and then the work would be scheduled after that. Llamas Tree Service saved the day! They were done in several hours, the yard was clean when they were done and he sent me a photo of the clear yard so I could see they finished since I was out of town. They prices also seemed fair. I have been negligent in sharing my review of this amazing company sooner. This is actually the third time that we have used their services. Not only is Alex the owner extremely knowledgeable as a certified and licensed arborist, he and his crew are highly skilled and can safely tackle the most technical projects. We had a massive eucalyptus tree, on a hill, right next to our house and Alex and his crew used great ingenuity to remove the tree safely and efficiently. We had gotten other bids before we found Sexy Trees and other companies wanted substantially more. We have 1 1/2 acres of mature oak trees and had them over to trim and shape the trees and it looks terrific! I am very pleased with the tree work that Alex and his team completed recently. The team arrived on time and worked all day. The work included the trimming of two fruitless mulberry trees, the removal and stump grinding of an large ash tree that was breaking up my concrete driveway, the shaping of a 25ft oak tree and the removal of a 20ft privet tree. The work that was done was excellent and completed in one day.
