This is a great Savemart! I am a regular here and the people who work here are consistently kind. they're very helpful and keep the store clean. When i saw they started making sushi I had to come back again and again because it was so delicious. It is way better than the Winco, in my humble opinion. Prices are not surprising here. I think we all expect Savemart to be a bit pricier than these discount stores. speaking of discounts, Savemart does have great discounts from time to time. you can even find their sushi discounted on certain days. and yes, it's still just as fresh. read more

I would not leave one star but unfortunately it's necessary to leave a review. I just stopped in to pick up some b-day candles because I was in the area and I forgot them at Target. I figured it would be quick. Wrong. Only two registers were open. But I figured the store was almost completely empty of people so it should be quick. Wrong. The people that shop here are obviously regulars that catch up on the latest gossip at checkout. I had one person in front of me in line with a cart full. I figured I have one item, maybe she will let me go first. Wrong. The cashier saw me behind her but started chatting it up with her and clearly didn't care that I was waiting. So I moved to the next line. Same thing!!! A long winded conversation with another woman in line by the cashier. What the heck?! Are these employees lonely?? Bored?? Or both. Maybe no friends?? It's a decent save mart. I miss the guy that would play violin in the store. He seemed like he was employee making the place a better shopping experience. For many years, SaveMart *was* my go-to grocery. Then they began discontinuing products I regularly buy. As the list grew, I was beginning to take it personally. I finally realized the food mentality of the overwhelming majority of their customers and employees peaks at Hamburger Helper. Bad company buying decisions prevail. The final straw was new packaging for their house brand Sunny Select *distilled water (see photo): bimbo designer meets bozo buyer. For an employee-owned business, the mostly pleasant and personable frontline clerks & stockers should have more influence over the buyers & products carried. SaveMart is now relegated to the "emergencies-only" store category (a step down from "convenience store"). read more

Stuff is easy to find and staff is always friendly ! Sometimes it can get busy but that's normal to be expected.

Had to stop by for some last minute items for a party. There is ample parking available and the store is very big. We had some trouble finding the caprisuns as they weren't in the "juice" section but in the "to go snacks" so I think the layout could be a bit better. I always shop here and never have a problem. Everyone is nice friendly, most of the time. Today I went in to get some bread product, a piece of chicken and sugar. There were long lines on all the registers so I expected to wait a while. Finally I got to the front and it was my turn so I figured I will be out in a few minutes. Then the guys started talking to another employee as to who was going to relieve him was it was time to go home. They both just left looking for Erica, didn't even say anything to any of us in the line. I left my things on the counter and exited the store. Meanwhile they others in line started moving to other register. When I called to complain the guy on the phone said they are short handed. Like not giving a crap. Oh well read more

The quart size non-fat milk is always expired! Sometimes I come in just for a quart of milk. There is always plenty but is often all expired. Sometimes by more than a few days. Everything else is pretty good now that they have more baskets. read more

When we first moved to the Old Fig area, I shopped at this store a lot. In recent years I've found other locations to the north to be more convenient. This is not such a great area and the parking lot can get crazy. I was shopping nearby and only needed a couple items, so I stopped in. I like that the different locations are set up similar, so it's easy to find your way around. read more

I haven't been in this store for a few years since we lived on this side of town (any save mart, really, as there aren't any downtown area). I came in for something for dinner from the deli and snacks for daughter's trip to Great America tomorrow. I love that I still remembered their set up. Got chips and fruit quickly. The deli was a disappointing experience. The chicken dinners were confusing to choose from, I didn't end up getting one because the items I wanted didn't go together as a dinner meal thing. Initially I was going to get the chicken tenders meal with some additional stuff, but was told that meal wouldn't ring up at the cash register anymore, at least not for the last couple weeks. But that I could get it and try if I wanted. Um why would I bother taking the chance of confusion? This clerk was not helpful and had an I don't car attitude. I was going to get a veggie salad from the deli too but mom were appetizing. I sampled two - the clerk here *was* helpful and courteous. I ended up getting a bagged kale salad. Taste: the tenders were good, tender. The potato wedges tasted like they were made yesterday. The hot wings were hard, average flavor wise, not at all moist/wet with sauce. The kale salad was good, we've had it before. Three stars for all the other friendly cashiers in the store. And being convenient, I can always get in and out; savemart stores aren't too big and they usually have the customer in mind always. read more

I am such a picky shopper that I only go to maybe to three stores total for my shopping. It appears that Savemart is the only union chain in town and it shows. I'm always greeted with a smile and how can I help you attitude. It's one of the primary reasons why I go here every week - quality of products, veggie and service. The deli staff have always been courteous, the stockers and veggie mongers have not only been helpful but remember me...something you don't get at Walmart, to the management whom always helpful with my questions. For example, the day before Super Bowl Sunday, I had left my brand new IPad in my cart. The staff found and secured it until I was able to come back to the store to pick it up...who does that? Simply put, the chain and staff get my shopping loyalty! read more

Their bakery has gone down a lot but other than that they have a great variety of fresh veggies. Some employees have been there for years which is nice while some have moved on but Save Mary always seems like a family , familiar and friendly neighborhood store. read more

Great store and wonderful staff. Everyone friendly and helpful, and lots of long term employees you get to know and relate to, which is a comforting feeling. Contrast that with the big Box stores. There are two negatives that impact me (any other issues I don't worry about). Neither is the store's fault. The first is that it seems to get treated as a bastard child by Corporate and doesn't get stocked as efficiently as the "nice" Savemarts in north Fresno and Clovis. Some items they should have don't get delivered there as quickly/as often as I see on the shelves at those other stores, and I have had to complain to the Manager a time or two about that. The other is that, being a smaller corporation, the prices on average can't fully compete with a Wal-Mart. You'll pay a few cents more. But I much prefer the more relaxed atmosphere of Savemart to there and shop Savemart most of the time. I would like to see more and better sales on a few key staples/major brands to draw customers in and siphon them away from the Big Box stores for a regular shopping load while they're visiting. By that I don't mean what they consider to be a "great" sale like 99 cent 2 litre soda or 3.49 hamburger--I mean 79 cent Name Brand 2 litres or 1.99 hamburger--something to really get people in the door, then they'll buy other groceries they would be going to Wal-Mart for otherwise. read more

Cheaper than Vons 2 stars off as the area around is dirty i.e. the lot And the deli could use certain improvement Next thing to be prepared for is the fact there are minimal employees on duty at any given time. These people at this store location are phenomenal. I placed an order over a week ago to be delivered today because I had surgery on my back, I cannot cook or move around too much let alone drive so I ordered through Instacart. The young lady decided she would shop earlier than my time slot, which means I was not able to get my fried chicken because they don't start cooking until after 11am. Long story short, the young man Chris called me and said that they would accommodate me by bringing my order of fried chicken and wedges at no cost! Wow!!! I am forever grateful to them for this. I was stalked followed practically cornered and verbally attacked by not one but two employees. One of them asked me "Are you actually even gonna buy all this s*** ? " while reaching into my basket touching all of the groceries I had just picked out for my friends birthday party. I told him yes and even tried to show him my debit card I had in my pocket. He continued to grab things in my cart while raising his voice and moving his hands in an aggressive manner. Until finally I had to leave without making a purchase. everybody was staring at me and I suffer from chronic anxiety/ptsd. Sadly, not the first time I've been overcharged, but it is the last. I would let it go, but for the fact that when I pointed out the "Manager's Special" and even walked the night manager back to the sale sign, instead of apologizing and giving me the advertised price, he had to stop and study the item trying to find a problem with my purchase. This is unacceptable. Perhaps the employees should be aware of Manager specials, and if caught off guard apologize to customers instead of behaving like it's the customers fault. read more

This review is for the bakery/deli section; I ordered 50 fried chicken, when I arrive to pick it up at the time they said it would be ready at 4:30; they had barely started to prep the chicken at 4:35 when I got there. The hot deli and the area around it is always empty they never have anything. And when i ask the workers when are they going to order and they tell me they did already its been a month and still empty. And also the bread that is next to the deli is very hard i recommend going to vallarta supermarkets they always have soft fresh bread there. read more

Never have I spent so much money to get little food, the young girl who was packing my food didn't pack the right ones I bought. I went over my limit which was $160, I had to give up half a basket of food for how expensive this store is. And later come home to find $15 worth of food that I wanted on my receipt; to turn out not to be in bags. I was glad I got the necessities like meats and veggie, but I would rather have my oatmeal's and greek you Greek yogurts for snacks for work but now I can't. The most expensive I thought was ridiculous was the $5 asparagus. Unorganized people, too expensive, never letting someone else package my food again. read more

Before I went I called and was put on hold for 17 mins. All I was there for like 10 minutes standing there and when I finally said excuse me to a lady who works there she was like I'll find someone to help you in a very rude manner. Finally this younger girl came to help me and she rolled her eyes when she asked me "what do I want." I told her I called & they said they had red velvet cake and there was none. She sighed and said she would look in the back. She came out and said there was none so I could know why cake and asked her to write on it. The cake was white with the red roses she wrote in hot pink. Really... The cake designs were so ugly to begin with u should of just left. My boyfriend and brother in law went to buy a cake for my sisters birthday, along with other miscellaneous items like, chips, candles, lighter, etc... My brother in law was suppose to pay for the cake and my boyfriend paid for the other items. So, two separate transactions, both paid with credit cards. Realize that I said "was suppose to". After getting home, they realized that both transactions were charged onto my boyfriends card. Wtf?! How on earth do you get two separate transactions on one persons credit card? read more

The store is clean and has a good variety of items, however I can't give them higher stars as they completely disregarded the number of bags I had and they gave me a paper bag and charged me for it. I had one of my bags that only had 2 items in it and another with only 3. Seriously, I had plenty of bags and yet they still went ahead and used their own and charged me. Not happy at all. read more

I'm only giving it 2 stars because they carry Driscoll's strawberries. Their prices are too high, so I usually shop at other stores. But tonight, I craved strawberries, so I had to go to S&M (appropriate, for sure). They were on sale, $3.99 for 1, 2nd one free. So, I bought 2. Noticed as I was leaving that I'd been charged $4.99. Turned around and went to customer service. Boy, did I get a runaround. The man told me that I had gotten the organic which were more expensive. I said no, the label on that one is green, mine is yellow. You should know that. You work here. After talking back and forth with a checker, he tells the checker to show me the difference. I don't need showing, but I went with him. Sure enough, HE needed showing. Then they had a discussion as to whether I should get an actual dollar or have it credited back to my credit card. I told them I didn't care which, just so long as I got it. I asked why the overcharge, they said it wasn't an overcharge, that the sign hadn't been changed.Then, I said, you guys are overcharging everybody since your sign says one thing and you charge another. Only then did they change the sign. They can have their store. What a rip! read more

I'm thankful this grocery store is filled with polite personnel since its within walking distance of where I live. The prices are not the cheapest but if you watch the ads they are. The produce department is as good as any other around and they have a new dollar cart that's rolled out for produce that's starting to turn. We go home and eat it right then so we always score a mid day snack like apples, peaches, bell peppers, a multitude of produce. The butcher will always stop and give you his time and help with the meat selection or if the on ad item is out he will make it for me. Ok the checkout lines.... there are no self checkouts, me I'm glad for that, I hate those. The lines get long but never for long, this SaveMart will open another line quickly. The checkout checker is always nice and pleasant I've never had a bad one. Oh yea and there is a "box boy" who bags my groceries and offers to help out to the car and I still get to decide between paper or plastic. I always chose paper. I recommend SaveMart. read more
