Horrible customer service. This was my first time going to a Save Mart in over 2 years. I stopped going because of the horrible experience I had seeing and heard an employee at another store shouting and degrading a homeless man. Wanting to fight him as well. I stopped shopping there because of the horrible experience. I decided to just try again and sure enough the cashier was rude and I could tell he did not want to be there. Most of the good deals in the store are always for their digital app which never works for me in the store. I usually end up wasting a good 15 minutes of my time before I give up. Today was no different, I went in for strawberries that were on sale 2/$3, a great deal. However when I got to the checkout they rang up at $7 each. My app of my phone would not work. The employees were no help, I even had one roll their eyes as they walked by me. I wish that this was the only time that this has happened to me but it's more like the 5th time. Their app never works for me and I usually end up leaving the store without the items that I came for (because I'm not going to pay double for something due to an app not working right). I have many rewards apps for many different places and this is the only one that gives me problems time and time again. If they can not get their digital coupons to work then I wish that they would stop using them. read more

I live just moments from this Save Mart located on Lander Avenue and have shopped here infrequently over the past 2 years since now living here. One perk is that they have not one but 2 Redbox's here as you enter the store. Another perk is that there are 2 ways in and 2 ways out of the store and both have automatic sliding doors. That's great even before COVID-19 hit as you don't have to touch the doors to use them. What I like about this store is that the employees are friendly, helpful and neatly dressed. I also like that they don't allow the lines waiting checkout to be overly long like their competitors are notorious for (Cost Less Grocery). This grocery store stocks many items that other stores in town do not; Sugar Free ice cream bars and ice cream can be found here. Saves me running around town looking for it as it's a rare item I've noticed in this town. They maintain a very clean environment and all the aisles and departments are just as clean. This store is full on with sanitizing and giving you the best experience they can. I've never had anything bad in the meat department. I used to get thresher shark here many times. Now, I don't know. Save Mart on Lander Ave. has the largest selection of seafood in town. They are fresh and some are wild: the best! I have combed all the other markets and their selections are extremely small, not fresh and they are old in plastic wrapped containers. SM Lander has the best selection in town. They have an immense varieties from east coast to west coast. It depends on the time and the seasons. They have "farm" and "wild". The seafood are reasonably priced. They are mixed price. I drive across town for their fish. They have their own seafood counter. It is much larger than Raley's, Safeway's, etc. You can point and tell the clerk which fish you want. The services I have received, have been delightful. The seafood counter is located in the back of the store. It's the old fashioned counter where you talk to the clerk about the fish and he/she helps you. They weigh it and ask you if you want to delete or add to the amount on scale. If you enjoy cooking seafood in Turlock, this is the place to get your seafood. It's clean and you can view the variety behind the big glass wall. read more

I love this store. I sometimes drive out of my way here because of the service I receive here consistently. One experience I had, I was checking out and could not find my bank card. My daughter had a TY stuffed animal she really wanted. The bagger took his own money and bought it for her. Another time, I was waiting in line and the store manager saw my girls and asked if they could have a cookie. He went an fetched a freshly baked cookie for both. It may be more pricey than other grocers but, to me, it's worth the little extra cost for the wonderful service. read more

First of all this place is in the ass crack of Turlock...not a good neighborhood. The store is older and a little run down...not to mention a bit dirty. I stopped here on 3/31/10 only because it was convenient at the time and it was my Dad's birthday so I wanted to pick up a small cake for after dinner. I headed in and darted straight for the bakery. I found 2 adorable cakes. One was shaped like a bee hive and decorated with little bees and dripped in honey and the other was a turtle...so cute! I wanted to get my Dad a cake that was less than manly and something suitable for a 3rd grader...thats just how I do. Anyway, I asked the girl who worked in the bakery named Amanda C. to box up the turtle cake. She placed it in a bakery box and proceed to close the lid and tape it down onto its shell...meaning she smashed the cake. Then she rang me up and my total was a little less than $40. How did that happen? The turtle cake was only $12 and the candle I got was $3!! I asked her to check the price again and she simply said "oh, oops". I then asked her to fix the cake because she smashed the lid onto the shell and screwed up the icing. She took the cake into the back and airbrushed it green again...when she returned I inspected the cake and there was green paint all over the foil board the cake was on...it looked horrible. How do you feel good about selling me this cake? I asked for a refund and she asked "So, you dont want the cake anymore?" she seemed annoyed and I asked for a manager. When the young guy came over I began to explain to him why I no longer wanted the disaster cake by saying "Well first she tried to charge me more than double and then she smashed the cake and when she...". Then Amanda completely cuts me off and says "It was an accident!!". I stopped and and looked at her and the manager and stated "Well I guess I have nothing left to say here". Then the manager continues talking to her and they both ignore me! Seriously?? She then handed me my money, he walked away and she turned around and headed back into the bakery...no apology, no "have a nice day", nothing!! How rude!!! In case you forgot...you work in customer service and I am a CUSTOMER!! If I am unhappy with something then the least you should do is listen to me, especially when I am not yelling or making a scene...I was more than calm and I only wanted a refund and to address the issue so that way Amanda would learn something and be more careful when she packs a cake for the next customer. Long story short, I am beyond annoyed and disturbed with this store. I wont be back and I would like to recommend Old Tyme Pastries to anyone thinking of visiting Save Mart for their bakery....sure youre going to pay more but the quality of the cake, the taste and the customer service are worth the extra few bucks! read more

Went to order a cake for my daughters birthday and the employee was rude and not wanting to be helpful at all. First I was standing there for a good 5 minutes because the employees were busy chatting and laughing with each other instead of acknowledging the customer standing at the counter. Finally she comes over with instant attitude asking what I wanted. When I chose the cake her response was that they didn't have it that I was better off just getting an imagine instead of a birthday kit because they were out of a lot of kits. Mind you that's fine, Atleast tell me which kits are available instead on not looking AT ALL. the stores customer service has definitely went down since their best worker Fernanda left. I too have had horrific dealings with this bakery! I ordered a cake for my son's birthday @ 49.99 (WOW). I originally ordered raspberry filling, but when I found out it had seeds, I changed to custard. Well, the cake looked like crap, my 3 year old could have written "Happy Birthday" better and it looked like a kid did the decoration. I of course complained, and was told they could redo it, but by the same decorator and let's not forget, there is a time factor here!! I needed the cake NOW. The cake was boxed up in a box that was too small. Their excuse..... they were out of the bigger boxes. So, I get a crappy cake that now has ruined sides for $50!! It gets better. We have our party and cut into the cake, seeded raspberry filling!! My guest were picking seeds out of their teeth and the kids refused to eat the "crunchy" cake. My advice...... Run, don't walk to the nearest exit!! Do not let the crappy bakery staff ruin your day. On the upside, any cake I have gotten from the Riverbank Save Mart has been GREAT!! On another note unrelated to the bakery. Although most of the staff is great, stay away from Gayle (checker) she is rude! Gayle actually seems to think she is doing you a favor by ringing you up and makes it apparent that she does not want to be there. Our feeling was that she was annoyed that we had the nerve to actually fill our cart and expect her to ring it up. Gayle needs to worry less about her hair and nails and focus on customer service! I am sure that a smile from time to time would not crack her face!! She is a sorry excuse for a checker and with so many people wanting jobs, I am amazed that she is still employed! I always find whatever I need when here. They aisles are wide with lots of variety of products. Their products are priced pretty reasonably and I never paid for anything that I couldn't find cheaper anywhere else. They have a very small Asian and Latin section but have the necessities. This place also has a Redbox that always seems to have a line whenever I walk into this store. read more

Typical store, over priced with mediocre quality groceries. They recently remodeled the inside so still trying to figure out where some items are located. Customer service is hit and miss, although more misses and hits. Some of the cashiers don't seem to either enjoy their life, job, or both. No smile, a rare "hello". The nicest staff , always helpful and happy to see you . They help you out , and bag your groceries for you . Prices are always good, and there is always good sales every week. Save Mart is a local store that you can find up and down the valley - this store is really nice keep and clean . I am able to get sales emailed to me along with free recipes and grocery lists etc. They often have a featured recipe being cooked near the deli with free samples. read more

I just moved to Turlock from San Leandro, CA little over a year ago. Having lived in SL most of my life I was feeling out of place and not sure if I was going to like the change. Right from the beginning the staff and manager have been nothing but helpful, friendly and kind. I usually have my brother and my 83 year old mother with me and they will get a chair for her to sit on while she is waiting for me at the checkout line. When I'm there alone they always ask me how is my mother and brother doing. They are quick to help me unload my basket at the checkout counter and they help me get my groceries into the car. It is a small- to medium-sized store and for the size of the store they have a wide selection of a variety of items. The meat and produce depts. are kept stocked and the whole store is very tidy and clean. I can usually find everything I need. The employees' friendly and helpful attitude was a major influence in changing my unsure feelings about moving to Turlock and I am now very happy that we did. read more
