We popped a tire rolling into load-in for a show in Beaverton, we are a traveling band. We had a trailer hooked up and no time to take the van to a tire shop before the show started. I had a mixed overall experience here. I stopped in 15 min to close to inquire about a used set of tires, after the shop I intended to go to had sold the set I called about. The young guy found a tire for my other guy and quoted me a reasonable $70 to replace it and he did it right there after hours. The second experience came when I brought a set of snow tires to install on wheels I'd already removed. I was so impressed by the quick and reasonable service, I asked who I presumed to be the owner, if they'd be able to make the swap now, and they happily took my business. I didn't even bother to ask what the cost was, as I had figured $100 at the most given my experience with many different shop rates and that they didn't have to remove/reinstall the wheels on my car. I waited about 45 min, which I was happy about. I went to the office to settle the bill, and that's when one of the employees, not the owner I checked in with, said "Joe said $150". I was in utter disbelief. I should have argued it but I got in my head about the convenience so I paid it. The owner came in and ended up telling me how slow it had been and I was literally the only customer. That made me feel like they were charging me for the work they weren't getting. Things like this are what make box stores so much better to work with. You know what you're getting up front, and a lot of them will install customer supplied tires too. Really too bad, Joe. I cannot recommend this place enough. Joe is a class act and one of the only businesses that I've come into contact with that does their best to work with their community and patrons. Joe was able to work within my budget both times I've needed new tires for my cars, and is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure I leave happy and confident in the work they did. I'm most impressed with how he handles customer service issues though. While I was in the shop today, another customer was short on being able to pay for her flat repair because she went off another tire shops pricing structure. Joe honored the other shops pricing and took care of this lady without asking any questions. How excellent are these guys??! After told I'd have to wait 2 hours at LS to remove a nail, I was told to book online (with first available date 3 weeks out!). A friend referred me to Save On. I pulled up, they immediately attended to me, immediately took my car in and came back telling me it hadn't punctured my tire and they removed and tested it and sent me on my way. RUN, don't walk to another tire store!!! Complete waste of money and time dealing with this incredibly unethical business. Other reviews here reflect our exact experience and we're kicking ourselves for not taking them more seriously. As a result we wasted hundreds of dollars and many hours, not to mention the unbelievable frustration of dealing with a business that lies, steals and wastes its customers time. We found them online and the reviews were positive, so we called and were told they had a set with 70-75% tread which is what we were looking for. When we arrived we were told they had "just sold" but that they would sell us a set with 60-65% tread at a discount for our trouble. We weren't offered chairs or a place indoors to wait while our tires were installed so we waited, standing outside on a frigid day in the snow for well over an hour as numerous employees just stood around. As soon as we drove off the lot the car hydroplaned, which we chalked up  unusually icy roads and these not being snow tires, yet the next day after all the ice and snow had melted the car continued to hydroplane and felt unstable to drive. We immediately took the car to two other tire places and asked how much tread was left on the tires, and both said between 40%-45%; a far cry from the 60%-65% we believed we had purchased. When we called Save On tires and spoke to the owner Joe he apologized and said we "fell through the cracks" because his son who helped us is young and training. He kept me on the phone for over 30 minutes justifying that he hadn't been on site because he is a "family man" and he is out of town  caring for his mother who is struggling with her mental health. We agreed to not leave a negative review but rather to allow him to make it right by replacing the low tread tires. We figured that although the experience was a waste of a few hours of our time, and he divulges awkwardly personal information with angry customers, as a small business owner he must be doing his best and mistakes happen.  He told me to call him on Monday when he would be at the shop, which I did. He ghosted us, forcing us to chase him down without any response for 6 weeks. Meanwhile, we were driving around on tires that felt unstable and we were desperate for him to honor his word and swap them out. I called his cell phone a dozen times and left numerous voicemails and texts. I also called the shop repeatedly and was told every time that Joe wasn't available. I finally called Joe's cell from a blocked number, he answered, took no responsibility for his complete lack of respect and professionalism and verbally attacked me repeatedly,  and then had the audacity to attempt  to up-sell me a brand new pair of tires. It seems based on some of the other reviews here that Joe has a laundry list of far too personal sob stories like the one he manipulated me with in reference to his mothers mental health that he unleashes on angry customers to stave off a negative review. Needless to say we did not go back and have had to buy yet another set of tires from a different tire shop. This was by far the most negative customer service experience I can remember. NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! took my g35 there to get diagnosed. They said everything in the engine is functioning good except for the belt kit which would cost $2400. i only had $1200 so i said i cant do that, what else can i have done. Ended up getting brakes done, rotors resurfaced, catalytic converters welded on and labor money in advance for a headlight installation (important and i will get back to that) after all that was done for $1200 i take my car back home and its fine apart from the blinker now going fast as ever for about 3 days until the engine starts making a fluttering noise and dies on me. i managed to start it back up to get it the rest of the 3 mins home, parked and left the car to not hurt it anymore. i let joe know that my car doesnt run now and he OFFERED to come out to my house in hillsboro to see whats up. after coming to my house he checks the oil and says it needs some. he dumps some in and started it up, he drove it 2 seconds down the parking lot and got out and said "this is completely drivable kid" i told him "idk man it literally died on me like 2 days ago" but he insists on taking it back to his shop. so im like alright. and of course the car dies on him on the way to the shop, so he once again OFFERED to tow it back to his shop. once there he gave it a "free diagnosis" and said the engine has a huge leak, its not holding any oil. my initial thought to that is how the hell didnt you guys notice that when you diagnosed it the first time. but he tells me it needs a new engine and the car is bad. he says he knows a guy who is interested in buying the car for $1000 but i had a feeling the "guy" was just joe and he wanted to fix whatever he had done to the car so he could sell it for more which is a common mechanic scam. so i told him no and now it sits and rots. so now im like okay well can i get the headlight installation money back ($250) since i wont need to put new headlights in the car anymore because it doesnt run. the whole shop staff joes family is arguing with me about not giving me my $250 back saying that "we gave you a deal on ____" therefore we dont need to give your money to you, "we came all the way to your house." "we towed it there for you" "we gave you an amazing deal". it seems that every "deal" they give you is just an excuse as to why they are allowed to do whatever. joe ended up yapping his way to convincing me it was $190 dollars he owed me and not $250. and i was like alright sure man $190 i just want my money back. (it is $250 i checked the receipts after this call). i still have no money back and my car wont even start anymore. i will never get nothing done there again, they even tried charging $140 for an oil change. ridiculous. i wonder if they upsell everything that huge and tell you its "a great deal". i regret coming here so much because now i have no car and they wiped my entire savings account away. read more

I own/operate the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine and was in dire need of a great mechanic. A very good friend of mine recommended this place both for their expertise and value. I called this morning to check availability and spoke with the owner, Joe, for a few minutes about what I needed. At the end of our conversation, I had an appointment for 1:00 PM today for a tune-up and 4 new tires. I arrived early and by the time my appointment time came around, I heard them fire up the van and bring it into the garage. A few hours later, my van emerged with 4 great tires and a well tuned motor. I was very happy ... until I received the bill. My expectations weren't the same as theirs. I was quoted for the tires directly from Joe, however the mechanic never asked me if I needed/wanted any extras on the tune-up. Long story short, Joe and I worked things out, the mechanic received some feedback on his communication skills, and I now have a new go-to guy for the van! I always go to America's Tire for tires... But my whole family and I go here for everything else that has to do with cars. Always the best prices and quality work. The only downside--unfortunately it's a big one, is the front desk or whoever handles records and general office organization. It's a mess, maybe even a garbage fire. Go here, but keep your receipts in a locked safe somewhere where they will never be lost, because finding any records over five years of owning my specific car though this shop is impossible. I believe the owner and main mechanic is certified to the highest level of mechanic certification or something of the like and is the only one in Oregon who is? Something along those lines. We may spend too much money here but with 5 cars they know us by name. read more

The best auto repair shop I have ever been to by far. I originally went to the shop to have a used car I was thinking about buying looked at. Right from the start Jorge provided the best customer service I have ever seen. He told me exactly what was wrong with the car and then he told me that he was also selling a car and that I should look at it. Long story short, he gave me a great deal on the car and even fixed the air conditioning, bluetooth, and threw in a full tank of gas. Right before I was about to drive the new car down to Los Angeles, I had a problem with the blower in the car not turning off. In less than 12 hours of the problem arising, him and his team were able to fix the car up and I made it down to Southern California with no complications. These guys are great. I can't give them 5 stars only because I didn't end up getting my car repaired by them. Here is the shortened story... I went in on Friday after work to see if they could tell me what was wrong with my 2000 Ford Focus Wagon and what the engine light was on for. They did that and more. I was mainly working with Rick, he explained what the repairs were going to be and how much things were going to cost. I not only needed my motor mounts replaced but also my catalytic converter. There was a leak with my coolant that we didn't have time to find. We mostly focused on the larger repairs since they were helping me determine if I even wanted to keep the car. The repairs with labor and parts with all new Ford parts was going to cost me over $2k but the guys at the shop were all very understanding with my financial situation. They suggested I get quotes at other shops and that they would call me the next day after they spent some time finding a cheaper catalytic converter. They kept their word and the very next day they were able to call me and everything total was going to be around $900-something, forgot the exact number, with all the labor and parts. Unfortunately that morning when I was headed to the auto store to get new windshield wipers, my car started making shrill noises with some other indescribable noises. Not wanting to risk being stuck on the side of the road and having to call a tow truck I was forced to scramble to find a mechanic in my area. I would have gone to get my car fixed up here if my car wasn't in danger of breaking down while heading down there. Rick understood my situation when I explained to him what was going on. Thank you everyone here, you guys are wonderful! I have no doubt in my mind all the repairs done by you guys was going to be top notch. I was treated well, both in person and on the phone, I wasn't talked down to and I actually left there with a smile on my face. read more

Needed new winter tires and winter rims for my Prius. I usually go to Schwab but there's always a long wait which I'm tired of, and I read here that Save-On will take appointments. Also Joe @ Save-On quoted a better price for winter tires than Schwab, so I went for set of Continental Winter Extremes on new steel wheels. Even so I grumbled a bit about cheaper prices I saw on the internet and Joe said yeah but that's minus shipping, etc. but he'd throw in an alighment so I said what the heck. When I got there they had the tires already on the rims ready to go. They found that the lug nuts from my alloy wheels wouldn't work with the steel rims, so they put on new lug nuts (20) for no extra charge, and threw in the alignment as promised. Upshot is they bent over backwards and gave great service. They'll also do swaps for free for the life of the tires. I even got an interesting story about how a dragonfly wing in the oxygen sensor rendered Rick's Prius non-operational. read more

They try... but give up way too easily. NO PARKING, NO STOPPING without blocking someone. Lot is full of cars and trucks that never move so there is NO ROOM to pull in to get an estimate. Luckily I had no emergency, but it took several trips to get everything right... almost. And there is a McMenamins within walking distance. It's likely you'll need it. read more

Who cares about cars parked in their lot?.. Boo hoo. I needed used tires and these guys were very customer service oriented and went through many tires to find the best for me. I was very picky, and they were very patient. Yeah it was good pricing, but what needs to be mentioned is that these guys work very well as a team. They communicated throughout the process and were very thorough.. I've watched other shops put on my tires either way too tight or not tight enough- these guys finished it correctly with a torque wrench. Good job! What can I say? They had my truck for 6 weeks and made promise after promise and made excuse after excuse. They broke the key off in the ignition and wanted us to pay for it. Luckily we were in the office when it happened so we witnessed it. Otherwise we may have had to pay for a weekend locksmith like they wanted. I feel bad because I was told Joe had cancer and that was why his staff didn't call us back as he was going through things. But after he got nasty with me my patience changed. And business is business. After $1500 later they said it was fixed. They offered us a deal on tires and then overcharged us when the bill came. 100's of dollars for changing spark plug wires on a 1998 vehicle. Definitely recouping any "deal". We showed up and it couldn't drive off the lot. Then 2 weeks later it was fixed again. 6 miles later the check engine light was on again and truck barely drove. This is after they said they were losing $1000 a day by having the truck in the lot having to fix it and wanted it out. They actually got nasty with us for not being able to fix it and said we were more than welcome to take it to another mechanic. Easy to say after 100's of dollars in. At one point we had to tell him how to order a part online because they said they couldn't find it. They used JB weld. After taking it to the dealer who was shocked after seeing my receipt they said I "had been had". Great place for an oil change or new tires. Bad place for anything more than that. Owner disrespected me by saying I didn't respect his profession and was horribly condescending. Only because I stood up for myself demanding answers after 25 unanswered phone calls over a months time. I truly feel he said this only because I am a woman. At one point Joe hung up on me after I called to get an ETA after a month of excuses. He then called my husband to apologize. But not me. Interestingly enough I do respect mechanics as my first car I built up from scratch. I know how complicated diagnosing can be. Which is why we gave him 3 chances and 6 weeks. But I will not be taken advantage of. Point is I demand results to promises and money paid. I drove by 4 times a day and was told my truck was on the lift and being worked on when in fact it sat in the same spot day after day. Lies and more lies. So if you need your oil changed or tires aligned great place! Other than that go to a professional . It's a shame because they have a good reputation. They have a following in the community. But as I hear more and more this seems to be a common theme. I plan on sharing my story as my truck runs worse after taking it here. read more

They didn't try to upsell me, or take advantage of the situation, which unfortunately happens with many mechanic shops, giving the whole industry a bad name. When you talk to Joe and make an "appointment" you get there and it's literally like he don't remember or just don't keep track of anything. Left My name for a tire I wanted and went in an hour after the phone call and he said he sold it to someone else and try to offer a different tire size that wouldn't go with my vehicle. Last time I got something done, me and Joe agreed at 830am and I got there and the shop wasn't even open. Service sucks. Tualatin tire pros were about the same price and better service. read more

Went there a while ago and had no issues with having tires stretched and the guy charged me hardly anything but I think it must be under new management now... Prices seemed a little higher and I got an ear full when I wanted stretch. Still a good place to go (better than schuab) but bring the wheels in OFF the car if you want them stretched. read more

They helped me push my van in their lot and let me leave it there while I went to get gas. A few weeks later I needed a used tire for my van and I went to Save On Tires. Although I was buying a used tire, they treated me with the utmost respect. I bought a tire in xlnt condition and was only charged $35. for a tire $15.00 for mounting & balancing. I don't care where you go, you will not be treated better !! Save On Tires does a lot more than tires, they are also auto mechanics. I made two appointments - one online and, when I didn't get a reply after a week, one over the phone. I walked into the office saying that I was there for my appointment, however, the office person said that she received no appointments. So I made a spot-appointment and filled out the proper form. In that time, she was rude and very difficult to work with. When I had a question about the brake services, she answered as if it was the stupidest thing a person could ask - quick-tempered and uncaring. Then I asked a question about the rates for the brake services (because she gave me a number higher than the rate I was given by the guy I made the phone booking with). Her reply? "We have very competitive pricing, the best in the area." ... "No I can't go lower, if you don't think it's a good price then don't come here." At that point, I was appalled, but I gave her my car because I just wanted to get this ordeal over with, and to get my brakes fixed. She told me it would be ready in an hour half. I came back to the office an hour and 50min later (20min later than what she gave me), and I asked her for an update. Her reply? "I know you're young and impatient, but I don't quite know yet." I'm so surprised - she manages the front office, yet assumes that she should treat all younger customers as if they're impatient, untrustworthy, and stupid. I just want to be treated like a customer, not a "young, impatient" child. If that's the response I get for asking, just once, for an update on my car, then how am I supposed to trust the company at all? At that point I didn't want to speak, or move, or do anything - I just wanted to pay and leave. After an hour of more waiting (2.5 hours total, an hour longer than she gave me) I got my keys and got out. The brakes work great but I don't think I'll ever subject myself to that level of customer service ever again. You can find somewhere cheaper, at the same quality level, and probably with much better customer service, somewhere else. read more

Great shop! I have bought used tires from them twice, had an alignment done and they fixed a steering box for me. I was misquoted on the price for the steering box by one of the new guys and Joe made it right, without any question! Really a standup guy and they do great work!
