Update: We've now tested him out with replacing my dad's embarrassingly old water heater. I asked for a quote and found that they only do tank water heaters, not tankless. After doing some research on if we wanted tankless or not, we decided to go with Wally. He came the next day to take a look at it and came back the following morning to replace it. Price is competitive. They communicated well on time. Again, they were very nice and explained things well to my boys when they went to ask them what they were doing. Since it was old they had to replace some piping. I appreciated how they wrapped the tank way better than how the old one was done. He made sure to explain the tank, where the papers are, how to adjust the temp and turn on the pilot light, and how to adjust it if we're going on vacation. He left his magnetic business card on the tank, wrote when it was done for our reference and easy access in case we find leaks and other issues. Overall it took about 3.5-4 hours to replace. He even checked our shower knob and tightened it for us because I originally thought we needed to replace it. We needed a clean out installed to help with sewer blockages. A friend recommended Wally so reached out to him, he responded quickly and came out for an inspection. He gave a reasonable estimate explaining the work needed and more importantly the work that was not needed! (I was under the impression that we needed to change all the underlying pipes due to size mismatch etc but Wally explained why those do not matter for the sewer clogging issue). I called them to help me with a clog in the main sewer line. They did a great job over the phone of explaining what may be wrong and the potential costs. They arrived about 90 minutes later. I didn't know where my clean-out pipe was and we spent a good 20 minutes walking around to find it. I really appreciate them taking the extra time to do that because it made the job much easier and saved me a lot of money. After clearing the clog, they noticed there was a gas smell around my water heater. They troubleshooted it to be a manufacturer's defect. They advised me on the best way to handle it with them and didn't charge me. As someone who likes to DIY repairs on my house, I really appreciate their patience and willingness to explain what they were doing in detail.
