Volunteer Experience…read more I was a new volunteer, and unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience. While I was processing donations in the back, the woman in charge grabbed my hand and thrust it aside. It was because I reached for a pile she was working on. I found the physical contact upsetting and inappropriate. I did not know her and was new to the organization. She apologized afterward, which I acknowledge, but the incident still has affected me negatively. I was new and made some mistakes, and I understand that this may have been frustrating. However, I found that multiple times she spoke to me to be quite stern. She eventually softened her tone, but I still felt very uncomfortable about the interactions. I contacted the volunteers responsible for training and scheduling to let them know what happened. They apologized and told me that volunteering at Charity's Closet was probably not a good fit for me. I appreciated appreciated their response, but I was disappointed, because I was not told whether the incident would be addressed with the volunteer involved. I am sharing this, because I hope volunteers are treated with patience and respect, particularly those who are new. I hope an experience like mine does not happen to anyone else.

I walked around the store while I waited for them to price my items. I was called over for the payout of my items and they bought 5 items out of a large laundry basket size of items I brought in. I'm disappointed because I had namebrand items new with tags and gently used namebrand items that they did not buy, I brought mostly summer items! I was frustrated because a lot of the items in the store were way more beat up than my items. They threw all my clothes into the basket all a mess! I was told to go to the register to pay for the shoes I found, and I waited a couple minutes while making eye contact with an associate at the purse counter, who continued to ignore me as I was waiting to checkout. He finally came over and charged me out and I had the coupon next to the shoes and after being charged out I asked if he use the coupon and he said no, I didn't see it, it's too late. You can use it next time. I went to gather my items to take out to the car and I did use one of their laundry baskets to take all the items they wouldn't take back to my car and the door sensor went off. I went back to the sell item counter and the associate told me he forgot to tell me that there was a security tag on the basket. The employees were very chatty with each other and I feel like the customer service was neglected heavily for my experience. 2 stars because I did find a pair of shoes but I would give a 1 star for customer service.

A good staff can completely change the feel of a store, and that is exactly what happens here. Update: The district manager reached out to me regarding my concerns and while I appreciate the effort to investigate, I feel some issues remain unresolved and could benefit from a stronger focus on the customer experience. 1. Management Identification At first, I was told that no manager matched the description I had provided. Later, I learned that the manager's name is Doreen. I found this initial response discouraging, as it gave the impression my concerns were being dismissed immediately rather than explored. 2. Fitting Rooms I was informed that fitting rooms will not be returning, as surveys supposedly show customers do not want them. However, I have not seen this question included on the surveys I've taken. On my most recent visit, I spoke with two shoppers who were trying on clothes in the aisles and both expressed that they would prefer fitting rooms. This seems to indicate that there is still a real need for them, and I would encourage the company to revisit this decision with customer feedback in mind. 3. Loss Prevention I was initially told that this location has no loss prevention staff and later told that no one fitting my description was on the team. The DM mentioned a possible solution of adding "occupied/not occupied" signs on restroom doors, but I was not given confirmation if this will actually be implemented. Greater clarity and follow through on this would be very reassuring to customers. 4. Pricing of Fast Fashion My concern about fast fashion items being priced higher than expected was not addressed. As a customer, transparent and fair pricing is important to me and likely to many others. 5. Registers and Staffing I was told that associates are stationed at the registers because customers request more assistance than before due to frequent scanning issues. A better solution might be dedicated cashiers trained to handle these issues, which would benefit both staff and shoppers. Final Note: I appreciate the offer of a gift card as a gesture of kindness, but I am still concerned about the overall direction of this location. Before the pandemic, Savers had fitting rooms and dedicated cashiers, which created a much smoother and more enjoyable shopping experience. I truly hope these customer centered practices can be reconsidered, as I value Savers and want to continue being a loyal shopper. read more

I've been to this savers a couple different times because it seems to be the nearest location. But the woman who takes donations with the green vest is very rude and says "we're not allowed to help". She seems to just stand and stare rather than do her job and have a care. After my recent experiences here I will not be coming back. I'd rather drive the distance and feel comfortable and appreciated rather uncomfortable and disrespected. read more

As such, I find them to be a better alternative to Goodwills and Salvation Army because the money from their thrift store goes back directly to the communities they are physically located in. For item donations, drive to the rear of the store. There are workers that will accept the donated items and provide you with a receipt if wanted. DOUBLE check their hours before going. Since they're a volunteer-based organization they are not open everyday and generally run from 10AM-3PM.

I needed to get those clothes out of my house so I donated the bags, in any other situation I would have taken my clothes, some of which were new with tags, elsewhere. From reading the reviews, I can only conclude that there is a pattern of disrespect and unprofessional behavior. The only other time I've been here they were having a jewelry sale and I witnessed one woman yelling at another volunteer in such a demeaning/condescending manner that I almost left, then she snatched the paper bag with my merchandise from me since she hadn't cooled off from belittling her colleague. Perhaps these ladies should spend their free time taking courses on etiquette and good manners instead of doing the community a disservice with their presence at this establishment. Next time, I'll just drive to Costa Mesa to donate to Laura's House, the staff there are friendly and the clothes are actually cuter and more like what I wear anyway.

If there was a pricing mistake, that's something your staff should address internally. Please review your security cameras before making accusations against loyal customers. It's unfair to assume someone is being dishonest simply because an item may have been priced incorrectly by one of your own employees. I've supported this store for years, and I never expected to be treated this way. I hope management addresses how situations like this are handled so other customers don't have the same experience.
