At first glance this place gives a great impression.- beautiful both outside and inside, classy, upscale ambiance, fancy fine dining (supposedly) in the heart of Bergen county. I came here for dinner because I was desperately looking for a restaurant with a private party room to host my wedding rehearsal dinner. That being said, I was eager to like the food. The service was impeccable and the drinks from the bar were delicious, but as our food started to come out I became more and more disappointed. The food here lacks flavor and presentation and just doesn't measure up to the image of the restaurant or the prices on the menu. I found myself looking around at the other tables wondering what everyone was so excited about. I know many people who enjoy coming here, and possibly even like the food, but sadly I am not one of them. I think there are better restaurants in the area and that people with more refined palates would be better suited to spend their money elsewhere. read more

First off, make your reservation for inside. There aren't heaters and if there were they need more - it ruined the initial excitement of being there. Small Italian restaurant in Allendale, NJ. Food is outrageous. Went with another couple and we all felt the same. Price was on the high side but afterwards we all felt it was appropriate. The dishes are not the normal you would encounter at a typical Italian restaurant buit was more elegant. The flavor was enticing and you wanted more. Many seafood dishes but mostly pastas. Wonderful girls lunch at Savini last week. We dined inside. Tables well spaced, temp taken at door, staff masked. Started with west coast oysters, think they were called Kusshi from Vancouver which were delicious. Mom and I had salmon dijon, sis had quinoa tower with avocado and crab. So yummy, no leftovers to take home. Split a piece of limoncello cake. Very light, not too sweet, just right. Mentioned it was sis's b'day to our waiter and he also brought a slice of gelato with candle. So nice. Pick anything off the menu and it's fabulous. My normal order is chopped salad as appetizer with salmon Dijon as entree. Both classics Simple and but done perfectly. While the chefs deserve all credit in the world for food my bartender/server deserves to be recognized. Oksana is amazing. I'm by no means a regular, maybe every other month but she knows my name and greets me as though I'm there daily. Knows my normal order and for those that love going out for nice meals... it's nice to be remembered. This visit I asked for an espresso martini and I have to say it was the best I've ever had. I'm serious... the best ever! If this is your after dinner treat, do it. If you've never had one and she's bartending, do it. Very welcoming and professional. Excellent food with a large selection. Great attention to hygiene and covid precautions but still had a great ambience. Full bar. They were very open to customizing our order and accommodating every request. They made a small mistake with our order and then profusely apologized, made up for it immediately, and brought us a salad on the house. Lobster tails were very well cooked. Scallops as well. Spicy marinara sauce was great. The dressing on the beet salad was fantastic. Will definitely return. read more

Very limited entree choices with child size portions and adult prices. Several of us ordered the Surf & Turf which consisted of one (6) oz tail and a tiny piece of filet. It was very average food and much more to be desired. It was very salty and made me thirsty for the rest of the night. He appetizer size of the pasta dishes aren't too much from the entree size so just get the appetizer size. I just think you can find much better and cheaper pasta anywhere in bergen county. read more

When doing considering this venue for a private event it all comes down to Tony. Some front of house guys simply bring an energy to an event that makes it special. My sister had my nieces Baptism here and Tony really made the evening. It's that old school real Italian charm that makes everyone feel at home and not just in a restaurant. It's north Jersey. The food is very good- but expect to pay absolute top dollar for it. Recent dinner for two with two wines, 2 clams oreganata (perfectly done- not mushy!), two tender well prepared veals with side dish of spaghetti and shared dessert was over $220. I understand the cost of food is sky high, but brace yourself. Still for a relaxing, delicious dinner (or lunch) I highly recommend Savinis. This is our go to place for a wonderful experience. Nice venue with a beautiful tent set up for those who prefer outdoor dining at this time. Only problem is that there are no heaters or walls, so it can and did get somewhat chilly. Service was excellent. Food was very good but in the case of the double chop veal porterhouse it was described as coming with onions, green peppers and potatoes. That's fine, but the dish actually had a very spicy sauce which was not in the description and is an important factor in choosing a dish. Nonetheless it was delicious. Wife loved the Milanese dish but the portion was smaller than normal. Gelato dessert was excellent, but $10.50? Really? read more

Fancy pants Italian. I seriously expected to see a Real Housewife of New Jersey here...since it's their area of the Jerz and all the restaurants they show on the show seem to be on the classy fancy side like this place. BF's dad made reservations for a group of 6 at 5:45pm on a Saturday. When we got there it was relatively empty but within 20 minutes that place was hopping - and they had led us upstairs to the separate dining room too. Because we were celebrating both BF's birthday and his dad's birthday they customized the specials sheets in our menus with "Happy Birthday Richard and Rich" which I thought was adorable. The timing between courses seemed to be a bit slow but we were in no particular rush, so that didn't really bother anyone. Everything we had was delicious, from the bread, cheese and olives, to the seafood salad I split with BF, to our entrees (Veal parm, veal milanese, the duck, lamb shank and salmon) and dessert. The only thing I was upset about (which has nothing to do with the restaurant) is that my stomach had been off all day so I couldn't finish my dessert which was tiramisu. I was doubly pissed about that because a.) I hadn't had tiramisu in AGES and b.) this was really good tiramisu. 6 hours ago NEW Rudest and least attentive bartenders I've ever experienced Paid zero attention to us. Felt like they were doing US a favor by taking our order while they were performing other tasks. We walked in as one bartender asked us to sit on one side of the empty bar while moments later another asked us to move to the opposite end of the empty bar. I thought that was odd but we played along We finally ordered a couple drinks and had resistance when simply asking for a food menu We did get to finally order food and after completing the apps, the two bartenders Left dirty dishes sitting in front of us for what seemed forever even though the bar had only one other patron. At one point, the bartender Assumed we wanted another drink before asking us. At which point I rejected the drink I witnessed both bartenders Cleaning shelves with filthy hands while at the same time making drinks. YUK!!! Very very odd experience. Attended a funeral after party at this establishment and what an amazing time. The first course pasta was a delight, they specially made a gluten free course just for me. The salad - heavy on the garlic; extremely heavy. The salmon, a little bland but what more can you ask for a reception style piece of fish? The mashed potatoes seemed like they came from a box but they were delicious anyway. The only thing that bugged me, is where are the lady servers? No females working at this place at all comes off as a touch sexist and actually kind of boring. It's nice to have a pretty lady waiting tables along with all the masculinity. The bus boy didn't understand my English so that was a little frustrating. I needed 3 servers before I could get the correct glass of wine, in which I already had one of, so you think they'd get it right the second time around. Overall a good experience but I suggest to the restaurant owner to allow so lovely ladies to work with the males! read more

This is our second time here and both times the most amazing service, FOOD is incredible!!! We ordered 3 apps- cappiline, fettuccine with shaved black truffles- to DIE for!!!!! And oyster Rockefeller- another home Run!! I had seafood Genevise- off the charts amazing- my husband had the veal chop and asparagus on the side- this was so delicious- I'm going to order it next time. Sherry our hostess was warm and friendly- she came over after we got our drinks to "check on us" This is one of the top restaurants in Bergen county but has the vibe of being at an old school Italian Rat Pack place. Dangerously indifferent to allergies. Two days ago, we went straight from Savini to the ER in Ridgewood. We explained a dairy allergy in depth to the waiter who recklessly insisted that Savini was well aware of how to handle allergies. Obviously he was wrong. I called the restaurant to tell them to repair their unsafe practices. One person expressed surprise but I never received a call back from the manager. As in, yes the manager couldn't bother to take my call in the first place. This is the attitude you will experience here. read more

We've been there a few times and always found it satisfactory if not outstanding. The atmosphere and service is the main attraction for us. We decided to visit for a Valentine's Day lunch. The bloody Mary's were rather thin and watery and probably made from a mix. A good bloody should have some "body" to it by using some Sacramento or true tomato juice. Their's was a bit disappointing. My wife had an eggplant and pasta dish which she enjoyed. I ordered the NY Strip Steak Sandwich for $31. The steak sandwiches I've always enjoyed were aged thin steak slices placed upon slightly toasted toast points with drawn butter sauce drizzled over. The taste of a bit of juice and buttery toast combined with the steak is the makings of a steak sandwich. However my steak sandwich came with fairly thick slices of grizzly steak plopped on top of the lower half of a hoagie roll. It was impossible to cut through the hard crust of the hoagie roll so there was no mingling of the savory toast with the beef. I was actually just eating a grizzly steak cut into thick slices. I ordered it medium but it came rare and purple in the middle. However, the coffee, cheesecake, and service was fine. read more

The food tasted amazing! I'm not the type to really enjoy fish - to me it can be a little dry and I am not a huge fan of that.
