5-stars for a restaurant of this price level is rare in my book as in most cases I walk away feeling things were overpriced. But not here. This is the type of dining destination where regulars likely have very deep pockets or a corporate expense account, or it's a special occasion or vacation splurge. Walk-ins might try to get a bar seat to try anything on the menu including the $32 Wagyu hamburger. A reservation is a must for the fuller dining experience where putting together a satisfying 4 courses (1-2 apps or app and pasta dish, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 desserts), with a couple of wine pairings, could run you around $175 +/- per person for dinner depending on your choices. 7-years in the making, from my experience here it was obvious the proprietors put a lot of smart thought into everything that has gone into transporting you to a French Alps inspired dining experience. The location just off of Hwy 89 as you come into Tahoe City is unremarkable but the place is gorgeous inside. Bring cash to tip the mandatory valet parking which is a must for easy in and out of the small parking lot. While the location lacks a view, it is more than made up for in the French Alpine Lodgey decor, ambience, food, service and high energy yet calm vibe. The lighting is perfect, not too dim, not to bright. You can see the stone structure of the original tiny lodge that sat there over 100 years ago. There is a private dining room for a group upstairs with its own fireplace. The menu has a great variety of French cuisine. We had the oysters, salade savoyarde, ravioli, Bavette steak, scallops, french fries, flourless chocolate cake and creme caramel. Everything was excellent. The oysters were perfectly pre-seasoned with a very light mignonette, so if you want your oysters plain, you'll need to ask. The dressing on the salad was probably the best salad dressing I've ever tasted and the french fries were possibly also the best I've ever had. The scallops were perfectly rare in the middle and the steak was cooked to perfection. Both wonderfully seasoned with ample salt, so if you are salt sensitive, you might request to go light on it. I'm not a big dessert person but I am so glad we indulged in the creme caramel and flourless chocolate cake. They were amazing and not too sweet. The service is world class here as everyone is working as a team and are very personable. Our server John was superb. We never felt like we were being too hovered over yet there was never a time like we felt too much time passed since John last visited us. We even had a fantastic conversation with our Busser, forget his name, my apologies to the young man with black curly hair. Most people are dressed up, short of jacket and tie, but due to the alpine destination, women in jeans and men in a nice short sleeve button up and pair of shorts will also feel comfortable here. The staff is actually wearing nice jeans. Note that I have both T-mobile and AT&T cell service and did not have a data connection which is fine as this is the type of place you want to focus on the experience so you will see very very few people with their phones out. I've eaten at many places in Tahoe (Edgewood - all 3 restaurants, Vanderpump, Mastro's Steakhouse, Maggie's, etc.) This is the best food I've had in the area and arguably Michelin Star level thus making the prices reasonable.

Amazing service, we sat at the bar. My martini was crisp and cold just as you would expect but the glass doesn't meet the grandeur of the bar. So small. The steak frites while the fries were unstoppable, I ordered a charred medium rare steak that was medium rare, not charred at all, luke warm . I expected more from Savoie but of course I'll try it again since it's 5 minutes from home.

Think this is my new favorite in Tahoe City. The ambiance is not like anything else in the area, it brings a whole new vibe to the town. The house rolls are so good it's hard to stop once you've started. But you need to try because the entrees are worth it. The scallops melt in your mouth and just an unreal combo with the sweet corn puree and zucchini&squash bites. Fries are worth it too. I'm not sure how people save room for dessert here. The starting items are too good to not clean the plate. We sat at the bar and the service was top notch.

WOW!!! AMAZING! One of the best meals and all around great time ever! From being greeted by Devin at the Valet and the entire staff it all was perfection! Worth every penny. I would say unless you are with a group sitting at the bar is the way to go, so fun interacting with the staff who all are so friendly and welcoming! We started with the salad w/the honey vinaigrette and the Parker rolls are a must. For the main course we had the chateaubriand and Scallops. Delicious! We finished with the beignets that were decedent! Welcome Savoie!

Mostly great food, nice upscale cabin ambiance, uneven service. We'll go again, but I recommend they make sure every table has a dedicated server and busboy with sufficient bandwidth to fill empty glasses and remove empty plates within a minute or two.

Service was excellent and detailed attention with 2 minute checkbacjs, silverware replacement after each course, water refilling, and before desserts arrived, the table was clear out. Proper wine service by the Matre D who happened to know UCF and Orlando well. Our family had a great dining experience.

The chef used a small ramekin for serving and added a thin layer of strawberry jam (obviously NOT commercial) to cut the intense flavor of the poultry. What a brilliant combination-pretty, too! The other standout was the raviolis du dauphine. I normally steer clear of truffles (unless I know the establishment) because of the overuse of truffle oil which I find cloying. Not here. This was the real thing AND it was done with restraint. We all loved it. Maybe my favorite of all was the way the chicken breast ( poulet roti) was prepared. I'm sure it didn't hurt to begin with a well sourced bird, but it was moist, tender and flavorful. Simple is sometimes best, especially when it follows more complex dishes. The waitstaff couldn't have been nicer and more professional. They were obviously proud of the food and happily shared with us some backstories of the local farms and animal producers they use. Tabitha worked our tables and was helped by another lovely young woman whose name I didn't get. Both represented the restaurant well. It was an unforgettable evening.

Service was great, nice clean interior. Food was very good. Here're are what we ordered: Deviled eggs with caviar: 4/5 pretty good, just a bit too salty. Onion soup: 5/5, I'd say this is the best onion soup I've had in the US. Beef tartare: 5/5 the marinade was citrisy, bright, complements the beef very well. Escargot: 3/5, they are a bit earthy, maybe its the type of snails they use, not the best. I have yet to find a place for escargot in the US, the best ones I've had was still in Paris. Rabbit pasta: 5/5 so good! You can taste the freshness of their home-made pasta, and the rabbit meat has a mild flavor. Steamed clams: 4/5 overall, a solid dish, but I had a few with sand in it. Took 1 star off. Rainbow trout: 4/5 a nice piece of fish, cooked well, but not as flavorful. Cassoulet: 4/5 a hearty dish with duck legs and sausages, beans. It was ok, not my fav.

We started with the sage and cheddar biscuits, which were wonderful, and the glazed pork belly with chili crunch with toasted cashews - the combo of the nuts and pork was really delicious. We then had the Niman Ranch pork chop and grilled steak frites. Pork chop came with creamy polenta, mushrooms, and a blueberry glaze - I'm hungry just writing about all this. The chop was grilled to perfection - moist (no pink meat) and nicely charred for the flavor. The glaze is a hint of sweetness and the creamy polenta is a winner. The mushrooms are an excellent compliment. The grilled steak was also cooked to perfection - medium rare. The flat iron steak is such a great cut of meat. The fries in duck fat were very good. For dessert, we had a chocolate masterpiece. The meal was well priced considering the location and the time of year. My scallops were tasty but they were placed on some mashed potato that was the consistency of soup as it had mixed with the liquid from the cooked tomatoes giving it a very unpleasant taste and presentation. Again, the meal was barely warm although the plate was red hot (!). We decided against desert finishing the meal instead with coffee. Sad to say, again, the coffee was barely warm and I needed to drink it right away before it cooled even more.
