I've dined here many times and the food for me is delicious every time. Service is pretty good. I placed a take out order from our waitress and didn't realize until I was home that an order of soup was added. I don't know why that happened since I didn't order it but it was added to my bill so I was a bit disappointed by that. It won't stop me from going back but felt it warranted mentioning. I was also charged $28.90 for the chicken pepperoni parmigiana and their online and take out menu shows a different price. I understand $10 isn't a lot. Cute ambiance. It was mostly empty on the Tuesday evening we dined there are a party of four. Menu was a bit hit and miss, the PEI mussels and spinach risotto were fab, the burrata and Sunday Sauce forgettable, the garlic spinach much too salty. Nice range of cocktails and wine. I brought my daughters and friend there recently for a bridal luncheon as is my tradition. The service was friendly and impeccable. The food and drinks were wonderful. The wait is over! (unless you came here for Wine Lover's Wednesday without a reservation, then you might have some more waiting in store). This completes Savona's triple crown, i.e., their third restaurant in the Hudson Valley, though with the business they're doing, why stop at 3? If you've been to their other restaurants, you already know what to expect. Add a really cool wall o'booze with back lighting that makes me feel like I'm at one of my favorite whiskey bars in NYC. This restaurant is a bit smaller too, but think of it as more deliciousness per square foot. My dinner here is almost a ritual now. Start with wine or a cocktail, add an appetizer, request a refill on those addicting breadsticks - you know, the ones that Olive Garden might produce if they ever grow up - with their crust, soft center, and that hint of garlic. Tonight's appetizer was the gorgonzola stuffed figs (6) with enough arugula to almost make a side salad - but for the $1.95, I added a side salad anyway with that thick bleu cheese dressing. Tonight's dinner was their Tuscan Chicken Francese. The green beans were equally garlicky, and the chicken was tender enough to cut with a fork with a just-right lemon sauce. It does feel wrong to serve potatoes with this dish, I feel it calls for pasta, but our server said you can substitute the side, which I'll gladly do next time. I was too full for dessert, but if I remember to bring my hollow leg next time, I'll definitely order something off that dessert menu, food, drink or both! Service quality matches food quality - great service, great conversation, great attention to detail. I have heard great things about your restaurant and was able to try for the first time while visiting. My son's dinner was so incredibly spicy it was inedible. The waitress was not accommodating from the onset and when I brought the quality of the food to her attention she couldn't have cared less. Great location across from Vassar college but other good restaurants have failed there as well. Hope you fix your issues before you become another statistic. read more

Ate there for the first time and everything from the twisted bread sticks to the appetizers to the dinner was delicious. The Tuscan Salmon Special should become a regular menu item. The risotto was absolutely perfect. The service was prompt and courageous. I will definitely be returning. read more

Went here tonight to celebrate my mother's 76th birthday. It was extremely crowded both inside and out but that does not mean that service and food should be lacking. We have been here before and have enjoyed everything from the bread to the desert but tonight was not the case. The bread came to the table after several reminders to our server stale and extremely hard to bite. We asked for fresh Bread in the server said she'd have to check if there was anyway left just never a good sign. The entrées were no more than average and way over cooked for shrimp and veal. Also we saw several of the servers and bussers not wearing a mask while serving to customers. We will not be returning. read more

Service was excellent but we were all incredibly disappointed with the quality of the food. The tomato pasta sauce base was horrible; did not taste fresh at all, simply tasted like tomato paste. My husbands meal was hot but mine was lukewarm and the cheese had already semi hardened. We made reservations well in advance but were still seated by the bathroom with horrible smells and people, including waitstaff, walking in and out all night. We also had a view of the restaurant rear where you could see dirty drums of what looked like hazardous waste, and watch waitstaff/cooks walk in and out [at least we got some fresh air from the bathrooms]. The patrons next to us brought a large dog [did not appear to be a service dog but perhaps one of those "emotional support animals"] into the restaurant and while they were seated they let the dog sniff our legs and he almost put his head onto our table; it was awful and I'm unsure why these folks would not have been seated in an area where the dog could not bother other customers. If our waiter was not so wonderful this would have been an awful experience. read more

I went for brunch today at Savona's in Poughkeepsie . Asked for mid-rare steak and eggs. Waited for quite some time only to receive some WELL DONE done steak and eggs. Sent it back and waited even longer for some RAW steak and eggs. The server (bartender ..... there were no tables) was very apologetic - but I saw her go ask for help, and saw someone, a manager, I presume, come out from the back and delete my check ON THE COMPUTER with no conversation. I appreciate that I wasn't charged after waiting almost 2 hours without eating anything - and the bartender was extremely pleasant, as she knew this was a mess....... But for no one from the management team to address my issue???? Just leave it up to the bartender/server ... who, by the way, was SLAMMED during Sunday brunch...... to apologize to me for something that she had no control over???? SO VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NOT RETURN. I don't know who is running this place, but they are certainly not well versed in customer service. I have been here multiple times. None were above average and tonight was horrendous. The salad was dressed so much it was a limp pile of greens. Then they added balsamic on top of the dressing. Can you say awful? The lasagna had puréed meat and the sauce was full of sugar- worse than cafeteria food. They were out of sparkling water and brought a lukewarm bottle of still as a substitute. The chicken with polenta was not poor tasting but the chicken was cooked until it was dried out and the polenta was undercooked. Careless lack of attention to serving good food. The ONLY good thing about the experience was our server, Jerry. Such a nice person who tried everything he could to make up for the horrible product his establishment is serving. read more

A visually appealing renovation of an historic dining spot across from Vassar College. The food is Ok and the service is generally good, The real highlight is the trendy decor and feel, and the warm, sunny outdoor dining tables. We want to love it ... But alas, there is a downside. When understaffed, service falters. On a recent visit as my wife and I were "bar hopping - yeah right, two 80 year-olds" on her birthday, we stopped in for drinks and dessert. I asked the bartender for the coolest fanciest drink she could make for my birthday girl, one she might make for her own Mom. We were informed that she was too busy for that, and we would do well to select something simple like a glass of wine. Well we chose to "simply" leave, with a smile, and drove over to one of our favorite places, where we had an absolute blast. They were even busier, but better staffed and more professional. My favorite is the chop chop salmon salad and the burrata appetizer. However everything is excellent. Today tops the cake. I'm a fan of Savona's in Kingston. Went in POK because they had outdoor seating. They've got plenty of tables on the sidewalk in front of two storefronts, some under a large tent, and many with umbrellas. The food is as good as their other locations (get the Chicken Marsala pizza or the Chicken Milanese Salad - both wonderful). The service was good. I'll be back to try their takeout soon!! read more

Very convienant spot and we have eaten here probably 3-4 times when we are in the area but the food is pretty average and the service while very sweet and well meaning misses the mark widely on getting the actual order right. My drink and side dish never made it to the table and my husband got too sidetracked at the end of the evening to see if they were added to the bill. I am grateful to have this restaurant there since it is one of the nicer restaurants in the area and they have various gluten free items but wish they would improve the food quality so I'd be more excited to eat there. read more

I've ordered takeout twice during this covid nightmare. Foods good but the wait has been insane. I was told 45 minutes but once arriving I wanted an additional 30 minutes the first time and 40 minutes the second time. It seemed like a ton of issues with orders both times. This was on a Thursday. The food isn't so amazing or such great portions that it stands out from other good Italian restaurants in the area. Check out the size of the zucchini flowers appetizer my wife and shared for $10.95. One each, they were good but seems to me you should get 3 or 4. They are somewhat small and delicate. I've been dying to go to this restaurant it remind me of New Yorks city little Italy Mulberry street, so today I took my sister there for her Birthday what a horrific racial uncomfortable experience I've ever experienced in my life. Immediately upon walking in the restaurant it was an experience of do I belong in here the look of shocked and what are black people doing in here. We were ushered to the back of the restaurant by the bathroom and exit out the back. The food was the biggest let down in Italian cuisine. Saw the server 2 times for a two hour meal . The Lingunie and clam sauce was 6 clams and butter sauce in noodles. The garlic bread was hard as rocks. Everyone complained about their meals. The dessert was worse. Needless to say I will go to Olive Garden before going back there. read more

Had a wonderful dinner last weekend. Delicious food, everything was fresh and well served. We tried a few pasta dishes, a flatbread, a pizza and the special cheesecake. All exceptional! It pains me to leave a negative review, but this place must be going downhill since it had some violations with their inspection. I ordered dinner takeout and there was less food in the chicken, Parm, dinner, and a pasta dish that was terrible. It was the worst meal I ever had at Savonas. Won't be going back. read more
