Today I went to get a packet of Taco seasoning. Wow it smells delightful in this shop! Ray the store manager was so knowledgeable and Lori helped me today smelling all the spices. The shop has almost any spice imaginable. The store is setup in sections such has baking , season salts , ect. Prices are on par for being a specialty spice shop. Excellent packaging and packing of the spices. Each package was clearly labeled and tightly sealed. The bags are heavy duty and reusable so I don't have to store them in separate containers. I went to my monthly massage at Massage Envy - Southlands, and when I left massage envy I smelled something wonderful! I followed my nose and ended up at Savory Spice Shop. They have every type of spice and flavor you can think of. The only thing they don't have, which is a favorite of mine, is garlic pepper. But regardless of that they have amazing items. The service is also great and they are willing to help answer all of your questions and help find what you are looking for. Everything is locally made and they support local vendors for their additional products such as olive and dipping oils, balsamic vinegars, tapenades and other non-spice items. I do love this little place, and I often forget its there. I had sign up for their spice club and my Birthday gift of spice email arrived in August. Oh My!! Free flavorful stuff. I made my way knowing I was in for a treat and to refill on some things I was out of. You can choose from anything in the store except 2 things on your free 2OZ spice jar. You can not have Truffle Salt and I can't remember the other but I was really ok with it. It's August so I went for some BBQ Rub. I wound up purchasing 4 different kinds on this trip. MY favorite turned out to be the Atlanta Boys all purpose. It was so good on the ribs I made the next day. They always have a little something new, can grind and custom blend for you and the staff is really helpful. Stop in, sign up for the club and add a little spice to your life! read more

Went in to find habanero dry spice and of course they had it. Also got to try the ghost pepper (they keep it in the back :-). It's very easy to navigate the store, and there are also many great spice combinations try. I was talking with the manager about a coffee rub, and he recommended the "Black Dust Cowboy Coffee Rub". Tried it mixed into ground bison, and the burgers were awesome. I'll be using that from now on. You can buy the spices in different sizes, so you can try it out without having to purchase a whole bottle. A great place to get gifts too. read more

Step inside and smell the heavenly scent here, and you immediately realize how hard leaving without several purchases will be. They have a massive selection of everything from herbs, spices, BBQ rubs, curry mixes, salts, and regional mixes. If it's a spice or flavor, you can find it in this awesome little shop. Nearly all of the spices have a "taster" jar, which you are allowed to sprinkle on your hand and taste a sample. Prices are much more reasonable than I expected. They claim to be on average 30% cheaper than grocery stores. While that's a tough claim to validate since McCormick isn't exactly stocking Walmart with exotic Saffron or Fennel Pollen, I can say that the Oregeno I bought here was noticeably cheaper (and far better quality) than the grocery stores. And to top it off, the staff is excellent. These people are truly spice experts, and they're so helpful and friendly that you'd be crazy not to seek their input while you shop. read more

Don't let the size of this place fool you. The shop isn't very large, but they have a vast array of spices inside. In addition to individual offerings, they have many custom blends: rubs, sprinkles, and marinades. Everything seems well organized and the guy running the shop on our most recent visit, Scot, was very helpful. He was knowledgeable both about the shop and products as well as being able to offer suggestions and advice about how to use (and how HE had used) many of the available spices and blends. Since we were familiar with some of their blends, he also let us know that if we liked blend X and wanted a little more spice, we might also like blend Y. We found that to be very helpful in deciding what to purchase next. In addition to what most people think of as "spices," they also have a variety of flavored sugars: vanilla, maple, peppermint-vanilla, spiced vanilla, and chocolate, to name a few. This time, we picked up some maple sugar (which is free-flowing like white sugar, not moist and caked like brown sugar or maple sugar candy). Our plan for that is to replace vanilla sugar+maple syrup combination that we use on Dutch babies at home. My youngest son absolutely LOVES their Butcher's Rub and uses it similar to a finishing salt on everything from hashbrowns and veggies to steak and burgers. We don't make it up to Colorado that often, but this place is on his list to visit each time. They have taste-tester versions of just about everything (I think the habañero pepper powder has a warning on it since it can cause irritation if not handled very carefully) so that you can try before you buy. Who would want to eat pepper powder on its own anyway? That's like powered pain in the palm of your hand. read more

One of my favorite stores. I do a lot of smoking meats and I like to mix my own rubs. They have fresh, top quality spices that explode with flavor. The staff is friendly and will invite you to smell and sample the various spices and mixes. Your cooking is only as good as the quality of the ingredients you chose. This place is next level. Amazing shop. I walked in to look for some fresh chili seasoning and Vietnamese cinnamon. The clerk immediately greeted me with a smile, and went right to the seasonings I needed. I have a huge container of chili seasoning from Costco. What an stupid thing to buy...it's taken me years to use 1/2 of it, and I'm sure the seasoning is "dead". The clerk helped me my just selling me what I needed. She measured out 4 tablespoons in a plastic bag and marked it with the date and name. I'll never shop for specialty seasonings anywhere else now. A simple drive to Southlands and I'll get just what I need, in a size that is reasonable for my use. She also helped me find just the right cinnamon to make my wonderful apple cinnamon cake for my hubby next week, I'm sure it's going to taste even better with high quality spices instead of industrial cheap cinnamon. I LOVE spices and rubs and anything HOT...I went there with my daughter just to check it out. They have a ton of selection. My daughter knows how I love heat and I am always looking for hot rubs or sauces. We came across their hot sauces and she asked a sales clerk if they gave free samples (which they do) She dared me to try their hottest pepper sauce ( I cant remember the name of the sauce, just ask for their hottest hot sauce), I was hesitant, then I was told by the sales clerk I had to sign a waiver, made me even more hesitant. Anyway, I agreed to do so, he brought me a sample (more more than a 1/4 teaspoon) of their hottest pepper sauce only after I signed this waiver. I put the spoon in my mouth and the taste was awesome, I waited for the overwhelming heat to hit me and it never did. Again the flavor was spot on, not overwhelming with vinegar but garlic an the pepper itself, very tasty. So we left after my sampling, I was feeling pretty good about myself, I survived the hottest hot sauce they had. Ok, so five minutes after we left, the heat came on and it came on with a vengeance. Oh man, inside my stomach felt like an inferno. It was hot and uncomfortable. I took my daughters drink thinking that would put the fire out. NOPE!!!. I hurt for 15 minutes afterwards but it was the delay in heat. I will go back slimly because of the selection. read more

This is a wonderful, small specialty shop with a wide selection of fine, high quality spices from around the world. The best part is that just about anything in the store can be sampled. The sales associate was very helpful and attentive. He seemed genuinely passionate about spices and answered all of our questions with pleasure. We tried candied ginger for the first time (now we're hooked!) and purchased some of Savory's uniquely blended chai mix to compare it to our usual chai tea. Each ingredient in the mix had been carefully weighed, creating the perfect fusion of flavors for a robust, savory tea. We brewed our mix with a simple assam tea and it held up to a great second batch. With such a great selection and decent prices, we are sure to return! read more

The spices and customer service is unbeatable. I bought my father (who lives out of state) a digital gift card, but he never received it. I read on the corporate website that I could use my receipt if it had the card number on it, so I took my father while he was visiting and receipt to shop in person. The employees were unsure what to do as they needed a PIN number, which did not appear on my receipt. It was a weekend, so the corporate office was closed. The owner bent over backwards. He took care of contacting corporate and let us use the gift card anyway. So relieved that I don't have to sort that out. We were also helped with finding the right spices and seasonings.
