Service with a smile and everything I need! Every time I go back I'm inspired to come home and create and prepare new yummy deliciousness!!

Home made storage - I had some extra jars around so I peeled off the stickers from the 1 ounce bags the spices came in.

Local eggs, bread, soaps and value add products are always available at the register along with a fun selection of Longmont stickers. You can get almost everything here. I haven't loved the laundry soda (it doesn't work nearly as well as Charlie's) but they have tons of options of cleaning products and body care as well as the food selection. You can replace almost everything you buy at the grocery store with something Simply Bulk sells in bulk. You can also pick up free used buckets and 30-55 gallon drums for home and yard use - think of the rain barrels! Employees have always been super helpful and friendly and the staff has been consistent over time. Bring in empty salsa, condiment, pasta sauce jars (with their lids) to donate here for others to use who may have forgotten or don't have something the right size for what they're buying.

Originally reviewed on Google November 2022…read more One of my great loves in this world is cooking and trying new spice blends. If I find something I truly love, I would be more than willing to make a point of going out of way to stop by a store or even order something across the country. I especially love herbal teas as well. I have quite a large collection of teas and spices from around the world that I'm always looking to add to, which is why when I found this place during my honeymoon I was ecstatic. All that quickly ended when I felt uneasy upon being greeted by an older lady who was alone running the shop. She seemed high strung which I can understand - I've worked retail and ran small family owed business before. I chalked it up to just stress, so I tried being polite and thankful for her help. I'm not an abrasive guy. I understand everyone has good days and bad days so I continued exploring the shop eager to bring home some treasures. After a few minutes I found something I was interested in, and so I asked the lady (politely) if I could smell this spice blend. What happened next was so embarrassing and shameful the thought of buying anything from this person made me sick. She raised her voice at me from across the room with other customers in the store saying "NO NO NO NO!" Walked over to me and took the jar out of my hand and proceeded to talk to me like I was a child while dangling the jar in front of me. Essentially, telling me I was stupid for even asking. Immediately afterwards she gave me one of those half a$$ apologies for her outburst. You know, one of those "I'm sorry but not really" apologies and then tried to justify her behavior with a bunch of... blah blah blah (Sorry, at this point in the story I was not really listening, but rather planning my escape from this psycho). Now, I'm not going to go into everything she said but I will say I'm VERY familiar with people like this lady. The one piece of advice I have for the others who have shared my experience with this lady (which I know there are because I've seen the other Google reviews) is that people like this are never sorry. They could say sorry a thousand times and still act out of line 20 minutes later. That being said, to whomever may stumble across this review, save yourself the insults and embarrassment and go somewhere else. I don't know if this lady owns this business but if she does, she doesn't deserve your money or your time. After my wife and I stood there and waited for her to finish talking we quickly left. Instead, we went to Overland down the street where the employees were extremely nice and dropped hundreds of dollars. I wish I could have spent some of it at Spice and Tea Merchants but I guess they didn't want my business. Oh well. July 2026 Update: This store location appears to now be privately owned by the same lady who is mentioned in so many negative reviews on Google. Location is no longer known as Spice and Tea Merchants. Now, it is known as Breckenridge Tea & Spice. Unfortunately, the change in ownership or at the very least the change in name will not result in any better customer experiences as it is still operated by the same deplorable lady. This lady was a franchisee of the once Spice and Tea Merchants in Breckenridge. My guess is this location has been sold to her and now privately owned by her, hence the name change. The gist of it is different name, same management/owner. Same inexcusable behavior. Same condescending behavior. Same disdainful nature toward her customers as proven by the many more recent reviews on Google.

It was simply more than customer service; it was hospitality with the warmest heart. Her kind gesture was impeccable where my daughter and I walked out of the store smiling like the sun! Well, I do have to say more than that. Her shop is extremely organized. First off, the sign that reads, "Please no opening the container and smelling; we will be happy to assist you for that" or something along those lines. All those glass containers that contain spices, teas and oils, the owner must assist you so that you can smell them. This does keep every single container clean and sanitary. Cross-contamination is no joke, right? Second, the selection of each category (spice, tea and oil) is so wide range, but they are meticulously displayed/lined up from caffeinated to mildly caffeinated to non-caffeinated for teas (for example); you will not be confused as to where to get the right kind of each category. Let's go back to the owner. She kindly shared her personal story as to where she was originally from, when she moved to CO etc. I truly enjoy this kind of small talk so when she became so personable to us we simply couldn't stop talking (we had some afternoon plans back in Denver so we need to go have lunch so eventually we ended our conversation.) We got several pouches of teas and spices. Each pouch was about $6.99. This price is pretty reasonable/average. I wish this store was in my neighborhood.

I wish they could bring back their sampler bottles for smelling, I really think this is the best way to get to know your herbs and spices before cooking with them. The must haves from here are: Peruvian chili lime, Saigon cinnamon, cantanzaro herbs, whiskey barrel smoked pepper, spanish smoked paprika, Cajun blackening, cumin powder ( so much more flavorful ), and their vanilla extract is well priced.
