I enjoyed the BEST bread pudding that I have ever had in my life here at Savour Cafe. My husband and I enjoyed an array of baked goods, both savory and sweet in addition to some coffee. Everything was wonderful. Typically in places with pastries so nicely decorated, they usually taste plain, but not here. This cafe is about a half an hour from where I live but totally worth the drive. I wish I could stop in here every day. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is excellent. It's so cute inside and just an all around pleasant place to be. I have only gone for lunch a few times but the salads and sandwiches are so good. I tried one of the caramel cookies on my last visit and it was heavenly. Definitely give this place a try! read more

It's a cute, small cafe, but lacks comfort, it reminds me of a hospital cafeteria, but like a hospital it was very, very clean. The desserts are tasty, the pastry chef put alot of work into the plethora of baked goods that are offered. Unfortunately the chef that prepares the salads and other entrees seems to be unfamiliar with seasonings. I found the food to be bland despite the apparent use of fresh ingredients. The decor is award winning and all was designed by the owner. Wow, she's got talent! Located just down the street from the Essex Steam Train and easy to find off of Route 9. This place is adorable and the food was delicious!! The people that work there are so helpful and nice. I had the tuna melt on a croissant that was mouth watering!!! We ordered the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and it was so absolutely perfectly made. Great atmosphere and super clean inside. I had to dock a star for the fact that they use so much throw away plastic!!! If you order a side to eat there it goes in a one time use plastic container. Plastic utensils and salads are all in plastic containers. They don't have a place to put recyclable drink bottles, so most people throw them in the garbage. I did ask if they could recycle it and she said they have a bin in back she could put it in. Most people wouldn't ask this though. Hoping they will make some changes and this otherwise perfect cafe much greener for our planet. read more

This is my go to lunch spot for when I want something tasty and nutritious. Unfortunately, it is for many others as well. The good news is the owners know it gets busy at lunchtime and you never have too long to wait for a specialty sandwich or soup due to the friendly, capable, attentive serving staff. The staff often volunteer good tips on daily specials or vegetarian substitutions. If I'm really in a hurry, I can grab one of the many delicious specialty salads from the self serve fridge next to the dinners-to-go. When I'm not in a hurry, I dawdle around the dessert display case and try to eliminate the vast colorful expanse of cakes, cupcakes and bread puddings down to one choice. If given a few days in advance, the pastry chef can bake any cake I can think of for birthday celebrations. This place is right down the street from me and I go pretty often! I really like how clean it is, both in appearance and the fact that I always see the staff wiping things down, etc. the food is really good too! Though they don't have a huge breakfast selection outside of muffins and egg sandwiches, they have a ton of lunch food like salads and really nice quality sandwiches and hot choices like grilled chicken. I was really pleased that they used Cabot cheese on their grilled cheese sandwiches because I'm lactose intolerant, but Cabot brand cheese has no lactose! The sandwich was awesome, with bacon and tomato and toasty bread. The staff is always very kind and attentive, and though it's a little costly, the quality of the food and service is definitely worth it. Check it out! read more

I bought lunch at the Savour Cafe today and this is the first time I was disappointed in the food. I had a chicken salad sandwich. The chicken was in such huge pieces and so tough that it was impossible to eat the sandwich. I finally ended up taking the sandwich apart and cutting the chicken into smaller pieces. The chicken was still dry and tough. I wouldn't buy a chicken sandwich from them again. Everything else that I have ever purchased at the Savour Cafe has been outstanding. This is a bit of an odd review. The afternoon we went the cafe was set to close the very next day, for a week, because a movie was going to be filmed at their restaurant. This understandably caused some odd supply strategy issues for the management. They actually posted notices all over the premises to indicate this fact. Well, my wife and I were in the area looking to get a quick delicious lunch before I had to go back to work and we just happened to choose THAT very day for our first ever visit. My wife ordered one of their signature sandwiches which includes avocado. We were informed they were out of avocado. So she regrouped and ordered a grilled cheese instead. I ordered the signature charcuterie sandwich. They informed us they were out of the charcuterie. I was disappointed but downshifted to the pastrami sandwich. My wife and I then bided our time and selected some items from their many grab and go chips and drinks options. At that point I paid for our lunch in the interest of getting out quickly. A bit later, I was informed that they were out of the appropriate bread for my pastrami sandwich. I said they could replace it with whatever they thought was best. A few minutes after that, they came to tell me that they were out of the actual pastrami. At this news, I started to become overwhelmed. I was just trying to take my wife out for a nice lunch before I had to go back to work at the end of a very long week. In order to avoid making a scene I asked if we could just get the sandwich my wife ordered so we could go. That, of course, meant that I then needed to get back in line for a pastrami sandwich refund. Well, the manager came right over and immediately apologized and, over my many objections, insisted that our lunch was going to be free. I said I only needed a refund for the pastrami sandwich but they wouldn't hear of it. My wife and I put back our grab and go items because we were so pleased by the staff's response. We ended up with two coffees and a grilled cheese for no charge and a very sincere apology from the management. My wife, not one to let anyone off the hook if someone upsets her hubby, declared that it better be the best grilled cheese she's ever had. Well, as it turns out, the Savour Cafe makes the best grilled cheese you might ever have. We picked a bad day and had an unlucky experience. But the management handled it wonderfully. The food is amazing. The coffee is amazing. The service is amazing. My only negative comment is this: don't EVER go the day before they're about to shoot a feature film there. My boyfriend and I were disappointed to see how much plastic was used for to go and silverware in house, and to go is plastic. While also not providing any recycle containers. Looking down in the trash can you see them filled with cans and plastic forks and plastic containers that all could easily have been recycled.
