Slow service, the food is nothing to speak of. They were out of chicken fingers, so I ordered Beef Teriyaki tasted like rubbery fake meat with zero flavor. I didn't eat it. Husband ordered sushi said it was so so, definitely not the best he's had. They have an Extremely tacky sign when you walk in that says please pay in cash because credit card fees are "extreamly" high. Yes misspelled and rude to ask of customers. This is a restaurant with decent food, but terrible service. I came here with my family, so yes it was a large party of 14 people. It took them a while to get out order and in the beginning we were fine, as the waitress was nice and doing the best she could to accommodate our large group. Our reservation was at 1:00, and food was ordered just before 1:30. Well, here is the issue. My sister an I ordered a few things to share. As the food began to come out, we got our seaweed salad, and everyone else got three cooked food. Then the sushi came out and it was all on a large wooded boat except for a few others. However, my sister and I could not find the 3 types of sushi we orders. We asked the waitress and she kept pointing to the boat saying it was there. Well the she disappeared for 15-20 minutes and we knew our sushi wasn't there. Finally we came back and told her again. She was still confused but said she would check with the kitchen. Then 20 minutes later, after everyone else was halfway through with their food or finished at our table, she said the order never went through. She apologized and said that no worries, it was on the house. We didn't get our food until after 3 o'clock, waiting almost 2 hours for our food. Everyone else At the table were done eating for at least 45 minutes. When we got the bill we were charged for the sushi! When we told the waitress we thought it was on the house, she played dumb and said well you got the food! Plus there was an extra piece of sushi that we don't order on the bill too! Of course there was no manager there to help us so we had to wait until 5 o'clock later that day to give a call to complain. At first the manager said I'm busy, too busy to deal with you, and that he would call us back. Since he didn't call us back 30 minutes later we called him back. In the end all we got was a gift certificate not our money back. Horrible, horrible customer service. I will probably never go back. I do not recommend going with a large party either. I come here all the time with my boyfriend. Well today was absurd, we ordered 4 dishes and they gave me one wrong dish, that i didnt order. It was fairly close so i can see the mix up which was no problem. I told them immediately that it wasnt my order and they refused to remake it, saying it was what i ordered. told them that i didn't want it, so they could take it back if they didnt remake it. It wasn't what i ordered. We could hear them all screaming in the back room and it took them over 20 minutes to agree to remake it. I am very disappointed that they basically called me a liar. Sawa is my go-to restaurant. I don't eat seafood but their vegetarian sushi is DELICIOUS. I always get an avocado roll and a sweet potato roll (MUST TRY. It's crunch and warm and delicious.) Their chicken and vegetable dish is delicious and the Sawa Pu-Pu appetizer is unique and a great meal for two. The chicken fried rice is a big bowl of deliciousness. All dishes come out hot and portions are very good. The service is decent, the waitresses are quiet but very sweet, attentive and the food comes out in a very decent time manner. My wife and I were in town visiting family. My wife and I ate here for a late lunch. We ordered a spicy tuna sushi roll to start along with chicken lo mein. Both were great. The noodles were cooked perfect and the spicy tuna roll was excellent. Six pieces in the roll and it was a larger roll size. I had the General tso chicken and my wife had chicken red curry for our main entrees. Again, both were top notch. The red curry was one of the best I have had in a while. The General tso's chicken was crispy with just the right amount of sauce. Both came with plenty of white rice. We took a good portion home and ate it later. Their food is good. Their service is ok. Their drinks are weak. They get two stars because their soy sauce that they have out is watered down. WATERED DOWN!!! I had asked for the low sodium soy sauce and the server tried telling me that what they had out was the low sodium. I kindly replied and said I've had low sodium before and that definitely isn't low sodium. Moments later she comes out with REAL, UNDILUTED soy sauce and says, "here, try this" and it was darker and better than the light brown watery stuff they had out. Sadly, she brought it out after we had eaten most of our sushi already. So when you go and want some soy sauce, make sure to ask them for the real stuff. It took me some time to actually go into the Sawa in Timpany Plaza simply because it was unimpressive from the outside. It was in a strip mall, and I just wasn't expecting much. A friend referred me, so my boyfriend and I arrived for lunch one day, and I have to say that I was very surprised with how nice it is inside! It was great that there wasn't a huge wait either. We took advantage of their lunch menu which is very reasonably priced. We ordered Honey chicken, hot and sour soup, green tea and a few sushi rolls. Everything we had was delicious! I live close by, and whenever we can make a trip to Sawa, we go. I highly recommend it if you are in the Gardner area. read more

Went to lunch for my first visit to Sawa. I was pleased to see a real variety of Asian cuisine on the menu. This is not your typical American/Chinese restaurant, and I was glad for that. I tend to like more authentic Korean/Japanese dishes and was able to try them at Sawa. The atmosphere is pleasant, the waitstaff timely and courteous, and the food was quite delicious. We started with the Crispy Spring rolls, which were yummy. I had the Terriyaki Salmon Bento Box which was very good. My husband had the Korean Bi Bim Bap, it was excellent. We also tried some of the vegetable Pad Thai and loved it. We will definitely be going back to Sawa. read more

I love it. Great sushi, great dumplings, wonderful atmosphere. However, my wife has felt awful after getting the chicken fingers the past 3 times. I thought they were delicious and felt fine, but she is more apt to feeling ill after eating greasy food. Their chicken fingers are a bit greasier than other places in the area, but I guess I have an iron stomach. She doesn't eat sushi, so it's a chore to convince her to eat here... and I feel guilty after, so I don't do it. read more

Wanted to love it. Didn't. Food was just weird. Taking cheap ingredients and cooking them a but differently. I give them a bit of credit for creativity, but that's about it. Food quality was poor, appetizers were just ok. Main courses were hit or miss. Dumplings were good, pancake was terrible, and I mean almost not food. Main dishes: Beef steak was a weird grey color, but had a unique flavor, other dishes smelled like farts. I got blamed for cutting the cheese 5 times before we realized it was a dish.
