    ...it's this way!

Found this place when looking for a quick off-the-beaten-path snack in between events. Great option for that. Setting: It's inside some small mall-like building with a handful of other businesses, so there's not much to see from the street, but once you get inside it's setup in a way that you can sit inside, or you can sit in tables in a "patio area". Picture airport restaurants, or some food courts, but add a bunch of memorabilia, particularly memorabilia related to JFK. Or look at the photos people have submitted...I don't feel like hitting 1000 words here. Food and beverages: As others have noted, they have soup (bet you didn't see that coming), sandwiches, and beverages from a fridge (plus tea, possibly more). This is a "mom's homestyle cooking place," not a trendy, hipster sandwich shop, so don't come here expecting to see $6 skinny mocha lattes or fancy cocktails. Just good food and fair prices. I appear to have lost the pictures I took...really thought I had already uploaded them. Welp...sorry Yelp. Parking was a bit limited, but no major concerns there. We found a spot, the lot is paved, and the spots and aisles are pretty big for parking and navigating without door dings or too much hassle.

    Corn chowder and quiche lorraine

Soup to Nuts is located inside a strip mall in an industrial area, but this cafe is much cozier than it's surroundings let on. A cute mom-and-pop shop filled with photographs and other interesting memorabilia. I quickly found my way to a little nook inside this cafe, sitting by the window. Soup to Nuts has (of course) soups, sandwiches, and best of all, quiche. There are various lunch specials - I had the corn chowder with the quiche lorraine. While the cup of soup seems small at first, it was very rich, creamy and full of corn. The quiche was the same, a smaller piece, but so rich that you're not left wanting for more. Both were delicious and worth the price. I would definitely come back again!

This is a quaint tiny cafe amongst the hustle bustle of Sturbridge and Brimfield. Nothing fancy, limited menu and you are basically inside a hall/corridor in some type of old mill bldg. They were out of fresh crab, so crab salad was out. We both had a spinach salad which was good with a delicious sweet and sour dressing, a bit of hard boiled egg, 1 or 2 pieces of bacon, a dab of shredded cheese not worth talking about and you were finished in 4 bites. Honestly, there was less than 3/4 cup of spinach on the plate and the salads were $12.50 each!!!! We each had a can of soda and our bill was $30.50!!!!! I think this is The smallest and most expensive salad I've ever had and an incredibly expensive lunch for what we got. The food was high quality, however the quantity was laughable.

    Cozy place filled with Americana

Adorable cozy little spot located inside a tiny shopping complex serving up homemade, completely made from scratch soups, salads, quiche and sammies with friendly, small town service given by the owner himself. New England Clam and Corn chowder and a lobster salad was what the crew had. The soups were thick, creamy and FILLED with veggies and clams. The lobster on the salad was very fresh and given generously. There was little filler, mostly meat. Both meals were served with fresh baked bread the gang absolutely couldn't get enough of. It's a seat yourself, paper menu, grab drinks from the fridge kind of place, but it's very homey and the walls are covered with Americana and so many lovely photos of JFK and other New England icons. I loved the atmosphere! We would stop here again when in the area. Perfect place to warm up and hang for a bit!! Great lunch eats!

This place was such a great little find!!! Needed to stretch our legs and grab lunch and this place delivered on the whole hole-in-the-wall mom and pop kinda place at which you could snuggle in at and eat soup and salad. Places like this I would never find without Yelping and I am oh so glad I do!!!

    OMG corn chowder..

Ever since I started my "vacation" in New England, I've been craving a great bowl of soup. I am staying in Willington, Connecticut, but I can promise you that this short drive is well worth this incredible, handcrafted food. These guys are the real thing. Absolutely reasonably priced, made from scratch, and the best corn chowder I've ever had. After 34 years of doing this they obviously have become the Masters. Though I am based in Louisiana, I will absolutely be back.

Amazing soup and a good sandwich in a warm, cozy space. The host was very nice, concerned that we had a "good lunch."

There weren't too many people there, but it made for a lowkey dinner. The food arrived quickly, and everything we had was actually much better than we were expecting. Cool concept with all of the books lining the dining room, and we appreciated that you could take 3 for free. Also walked around the book cellar too. There weren't really any titles that grabbed us though. My main critique is that it was pretty dusty... we looked at one of the lights and the cobwebs on it made it look like a Halloween decoration. You have to wonder if the dining room is that neglected, how bad is the state of the kitchen? Wouldn't be in a rush to come back, but glad I can say I've been to what's considered such an iconic roadside stop.

(Compared to The Oliver Wright Tavern which is outside the admission gates). There is a self service cafeteria type establishment in the basement. Today we ate in the first floor restaurant. We had attended MidWinter Mischief and dinner was included. It was a soup buffet - choice of Clam Chowder, Beef Stew or Tomato Vegetable. Westminster crackers. Flaky biscuits. Apple or Pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream for dessert. The waitstaff were in character. Fortunately the food was not! There were long family style tables in the center of the room. Assorted deuces and four tops along the sides. Since we were a party of 7, we were seated in the center with strangers. I kinda felt bad for the people who had to listen to us over dinner.

All tables were unwashed, filthy and disgusting! The Rest Rooms were filthy, disgusting and nasty! They have write ups about Covid all over the place, on their website and some staff are still wearing masks yet they don't bother to clean and sanitize the bathrooms! NASTY! The Village is nice, houses are interesting, and employees other than in Ballard's Tavern were all very nice. We will go back to Old Sturbridge Village when in the area again but we will bring our own lunch or go down the road to Panera for a fresh, healthy lunch. Could even have Panera deliver to our car in the parking lot and eat under a tree in the shade. Hopefully others taking their families to the village will see this review and plan ahead to bring food and drinks with them so they are not ripped off with gross food and overpriced drinks.

My son had the Chipotle chicken avo melt and liked it. I had the Ciabatta Cheesesteak. To be honest, I expected more. The bread was too soft, and there wasn't alot of cheese and steak. But it was pretty good. I liked how we got a free side of chips or apple. Since we had a dog, we were able to sit at the outdoor dining area. It was pretty nice and quiet. For reference, they have space to dine inside as well. Overall, this is a great place to stop and grab food and I recommend it.
