Barcelona Sandwich
Eric Y.

I've been to Say Cheese to get a couple cheese platters for parties in the past and was always pleased with the quality of the cheese and the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Today, I decided to give their sandwiches a shot, and I'm really glad I did. I'm not sure why but I expected more of a grab and go kind of sandwich from a good market or deli, but what I got was definitely a step above. I was pleasantly surprised, I got the French No-Dip and the Barcelona. Both were absolutely delicious, had clearly high quality meats and cheeses and were on fresh bread, and came with a nice mixed green salad. I don't think they advertise their cafe offerings much, I had to ask for the menu, and the other side of the shop which looks like the cafe isn't open for seating, but they have a few tables and chairs outside. Anyway, I highly recommend the sandwiches here, I would say definitely the best in the Silverlake area!

Classic Tuna Melt
Amani S.

Perfect lunch break! Ordered my fave tuna melt and tried the paprika chips for the first time which were a nice twist. Also got the elderflower soda which was perfectly light, floral and not too sweet. On my way out I got some Parmesan, White Cheddar and Olive Oil. Can't wait to try these goodies when I get home!

Say Cheese got that tuna melt down! Rosemary bread, delicious tuna and fantastic melted cheese. Comes with scrumptious spring salad which pair perfectly with the melt. Definitely worth it.

a platter of cheese and fruit

I called Thursday afternoon for a Saturday morning order of a 10-person cheese plate. Both the presentation and flavor are out of this world Some of the best cheese I've ever had and the baked fig thing is amazing. My guests can't stop talking about and I can't stop eating it. I highly recommend this shop and will definitely order from them again.

Almost Vegan Sandwich
Talin M.

Delicious sandwich!!!! Ordered the Almost Vegan - Roasted eggplant, shaved red onion, alfalfa sprouts & avocado w/ balsamic oil on rosemary bread. Soooooo good!! It comes with a side Spring green salad. You can tell the ingredients are fresh. I will definitely come back for this sandwich. The shop itself it's beautiful with a large array of artisanal cheeses, crackers, olive oils, balsamic vinegars. Gorgeous. I got to talking to the owner Glen and he was a delight! Please support local businesses!!!!!!!!!

Not all is lost, though, as they're conjoining with kippered down the street. I'm not sure if the sandwiches will survive the merger but I hope they do. I had an incredible ham toasted sandwich with a crispy cheese skirt that I saved for last. Will definitely have to come check out the cheese during Portuguese cheese week in the future at Kippered!

I last visited this elevated cheese shop when they were in the Grand Central Market. Three years…read moreago they moved to their own brick and mortar a half block south of the Market on the corner of 4th and Broadway. This larger space now serves as a cheese shop, upscale market and fast-casual eatery. I came here for lunch after walking through GCM and not feeling inspired. They still offer a large case of cheeses from around the world, which can be purchased by weight. I think a large part of their business is creating made-to-order charcuterie platters and boards of cheeses and meats. In their deli case, they have grab and go plates of 3 cheeses (meat optional), pickles and dried fruit. The gourmet market also offers fresh produce, specialty items like premium butters, Rancho Gordo beans, house made items like chicken stock, pickles, etc, and meats. Plus fresh juices and lemonade and canned/bottled drinks. I came for the eatery. They offer cold sandwiches and breads, plus made to order hot sandwiches. They have an attractive Sunday Brunch menu also. I went with the ham melt, which is their OG grilled cheese with ham added. I also ordered their "Always Creamy Tomato Soup", both to go. The soup was delish. It came with garlicky croutons which alas were soggy by the time I ate them. The sandwich was excellent. It had 3 different cheeses, ham, and caramelized onions on brioche. It was grilled to perfection with a substantial cheese skirt, and came with pickles and whole grain mustard. A very tasty lunch and a nice alternative to GCM. They had a fair amount of seating if you decide to eat in. I'd definitely shop their market more extensively next time, and would like to try their brunch someday. They also have a wine/champagne/tinned fish bar next door called Kippered, that was packed when I walked by in the evening.

It helped that it wasn't crowded. The outdoor seating is nice. My friend and I shared the vegan BFF board. You get to select two cheeses. I highly recommend the brie. I'm so glad this place has vegan options. I'm looking forward to trying their other cheeses, vegan meats, and their sandwiches.

They also have happy hour Tuesdays-Thursday from 2:00-5:30pm, where they offer house wines for $5 and personal cheese board for $10. For boards, I usually get the Goldilocks specialty board, which comes with 3 cheeses ranging in texture from soft to hard. For an additional cost, you can add meat: prosciutto, salami, Spanish chorizo, or half & half of any two. For paninis, everything I've tried was very good. I've had the Signature which has a double-cream brie, pear slices, mixed greens, and fig jam. Lib Grilled Cheese comes with three premium cheese blend, grilled with olive oil, and minced garlic. All paninis are on their sourdough bread and served with their signature side salad. The decor here is very cute - showcasing their cheese fridge and shelves lined with wines and jams available for purchase. There are some tables both indoors and outside. I recently saw that they host events, offer quick same-day catering within 2-3 hours of ordering, and deliver for orders up to 50 people! Always coming back for their cheese boards and great happy hour!

It was pretty quiet, yet we were barely greeted by the staff. To make matters worse, another patron was changing their 2-year-old's diaper right there on the patio. It was completely "butt baked" and extremely unappetizing while trying to eat. Food we ordered : * Pâté Sandwich: The pâté itself was actually good, but it was ruined by a ton of mustard. I had to scrape it off just to eat it as the mustard completely overpowered the sandwich. * Salmon Sandwich: Very bland and lacked flavor. Side sales were bland. We had to ask for extra dressing. * Iced Coffee: There was something "weird" floating in my coffee. Between the hygiene issues on the patio, and the mediocre food, I won't be back. Maybe I should have just stuck with wine and cheese.

I called ahead to make a reservation and when we arrived there, it was an easy process to get in. Metered street parking available. You order with a team member but pay at the counter. The guys there were awesome - super personable and friendly, they were chill to chat with. We ordered the raclette (one each) and a chocolate tart for dessert, which they were kind enough to set aside. Overall, I'd highly recommend for a date night or intimate dinner.

We came in on a Saturday and was unable to find street parking so as others advised, I had my friend watch the car and drive around as I made my way to the shop. The shop was so cute, it's small but with everything you'd need for a cheese and meat party including breads, canned additions/fish, and wines! I grabbed a fresh loaf of baguette to add to the order. Both trays were ready and absolutely fresh. The honorable cheesemongers overlooking shop were very nice and helpful! One female worker was providing samples for a gentleman when he asked for recommendations and my cheesemonger asked what kind of cheese texture I generally liked and offered to give me a cheese from three different animals, which I thought was absolutely awesome! She even offered to help me carry my trays out. The veggie tray was awesome, a great size, half pickled half not pickled, the dips were both amazing! We got the green goddess and Calabrian chili aioli and both were such a hit at our get together. The peppers are slightly spicy and were so delicious. We loved the variety of cheese and did not have a single cheese we didn't like. The petite toasts with the meat and cheese board is a must! So good and crispy and a perfect size for a bite. The trays were really sturdy and we appreciated the care put into the layout. We'll definitely be back Oh La Vache!
