Five stars for Milk Farm! This shop is a paradise for anyone who appreciates exceptional food and carefully selected products. I bought several wonderful French and Spanish cheeses, and every one of them was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I also picked up some wine that paired beautifully with the cheeses. Had two sandwiches a while ago and remembered that I really liked it - so I had my bf head out to grab a few more today - he checked Yelp, we conspired on trying about 6 or 7 interesting sandos. We live about 40 mins away but remembered I thought it was definitely worth it... until... he was almost there when I decided to check their website for anything that might not be mentioned on Yelp... that's when I found that it says lunch only served until 3pm or until they run out! I double checked Yelp and that potentially helpful notice wasn't anywhere to be found. He called them and they simply apologized and said they were already sold out (even though they were open until 7 tonight) and explained that ever since they wound up being touted on instagram or TikTok or one of those, they've been slammed first part of their day. Well good for them and bad for us. I just wish they'd pay attention to their Yelp page and we wouldn't have had to go on such a well intended journey. He ended up going someplace else. Waiting to find out where. Seriously, if you know you're selling out or if you put a caution on your website, how hard is it to just post it on your Yelp or anywhere else you promote your business. Big big bummer. The guy on the phone offered that we should call tomorrow early and order on phone and they'd make it and put it aside. Sorry, our schedule doesn't work like that and also we just drove 40 mins when if they'd only had posted a warning on Yelp this expensive inconvenience could have been completely avoided. UPDATE just wanted to upgrade the review to reflect the fast response by their customer service - all that info would have been (and is) extremely helpful to paint a better picture of the structure of their business so that customers who aren't local or familiar with their serving hours so that we can plan accordingly and not factor disappointment into the review. In our adventure of the day with the Chocolate Cookie Crawl, we finally ended up here at Milkfarm. Didn't really know what to expect from a cheese shop or so we thought that was the only thing they did. Walking in and seeing all their cheeses and then the display case of freshly prepared sandwiches was a sight for sore eyes! What can beat a nice chewy baguette with prosciutto, spinach, cheese and pesto? The Prosciutto Italiano was perfectly balanced and delicious, not overwhelming in any one thing but a delightful combination of flavors and ingredients. There are also two bar stools tucked in the back if counter seating is more your vibe. We got the Chorizo Pamplona (fried tomato sauce, Campo de Montalban, chorizo pamplona, Mama Lil's pickled peppers, cilantro, greens, herb butter on baguette) and the Muffuletta (aioli, Genoa salami, salami cotto, Louisiana olive mix, fresh mozzarella, chopped herbs, cracked black pepper on focaccia). Of the two, the chorizo one had bolder, richer, and more balanced flavors that worked so, so, so well together. I kept going back for more and almost ordered a second! Good quality sandwiches! We got to the shop at around 5-6pm, and the sandwiches were stored in the fridge by then. They offered to re-toast the sandwiches for us. I recommend going earlier in the day to get them when they're freshest. I got the Prosciutto Italiano sandwich which came with prosciutto, pesto, cheese, sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, and greens inside a baguette. It was pretty good but not spectacular. The baguette had a crispy exterior but may have been a bit hard for my liking. Maybe because it was later in the day? But, overall, all the ingredients in this sandwich worked well together. The flavor sort of reminded me of the Tomato & Mozzarella on Focaccia from Starbucks. My friend ordered a truffle cheese sandwich which I forgot the exact name of. Hi Leah, While I appreciate you taking the time to fact check me like Facebook, it seemed only fair to point out some of the inaccuracies in your fact checks as well as explain why some of the stuff you dispute and may very well be wrong is in my review. I spent a good 40 minutes in your shop looking at cheeses. I saw some that I could buy at any Whole Foods and many I did not recognize. Everytime I asked your counter person to give a personal description of a cheese I didn't recognize, they would relate them to blue cheese, parmesan-like, and gouda-like. I did purchase a cabot clothboard cheddar from Vermont and hated it. The other cheese I purchased was very much like a fresh parmesan. If you don't have three large sections broken up this way, don't blame me for thinking it. I was never asked if I wanted to try anything, which I understand as in a quaint store like yours handing out any samples would certainly put you out of business. Therefore, I had to simply go by your little signs and your employee's description. If he says to me this section is blue cheese type cheeses, these are parmesan-like, and these are sort of like goudas, and you don't want people to think that, then you need to better train your employees. Let's address your baguette claim. It was not 20" or close. I just used a tape measure to measure the 2/3 of my stove top you see the bread sitting on and it is around 16". Sorry, but I'm not blind, and they were not 20 or 22 inches. I said the bread was good, but as someone who makes their own bread, while good it was not amazing. And it was tiny. People who come into your shop will see for themselves. They don't need to trust me. Unless that one day I came in, you got ripped off by your bread provider and hence the customers also got ripped off with sub-par sized loaves. Once again, your employee described the grilled cheese as a french onion soup and said that is how other customers have referred to it. Don't want me to quote him, then better train your employees. I will concede it was whole wheat bread, which I abhor anyway. Regardless, the sandwich was sour, so it's either the cheese had gone, the bread is sour, or something else in the sandwich is sour like overly sour sourdough bread. My taste buds may not align with yours as far as what I love, but I know what sour is and the sandwich had an off putting sour aftertaste. With the mortadella sandwich, I prefaced my opinion by saying in my 50 plus years of life on this Earth, I've never bothered to eat mortadella. So what I found was I hate it. I don't care how many pistachios there are in it, the sandwich read as pistachio sweet with bitter greens, and mustard. If that sounds enticing to many of your other customers, great. If someone has never had mortadella, I would tell them to beware they may not like it. If someone doesn't like mortadella, this sandwich will not change their mind. It was awful. Was there pesto? I thought once again your employee said the condiments were like a pesto. I could be wrong about that. Regardless, it was extremely unpleasant trying to shove as much as I could down my throat. I know you love your store and think it's the best, or else you wouldn't do what you do. And from reviews, you have plenty of customers who agree with you and are fans. Sorry, but I am not. And my reviews are for people who follow me and find they agree with my tastes on other restaurants they might've tried. Then they know if they have a shot at liking or not liking a new place I've tried. My goal is not to hurt your business as much as to critique the taste, quality, and price of things I purchase at businesses. Either way, good luck with your shop. read more

Rw was the best employee... very enthusiastic and encouraging! LOL! He helped me on both days... Yes, I visited this shop two days in a row. My second visit was a "Meet the Maker" event where customers sampled pizza from piOOa. There were three pizzas... all of them were delicious with a crisp crust. They will be in the refrigerator for purchase. Bake in your oven at home for about 5 minutes... easy! During my first visit, I looked at cool merchandise and gourmet grocery products. What really caught my attention was the HBB sandwich - Ham Brie and Butter. When it was warmed up, the thick bread really enhanced the savory ham and creamy cheese and butter! Yum! I know that Sam got the Grilled Cheese sandwich, so I got it the next day... it was fabulous because it wasn't an ordinary grilled cheese sandwich. I believe that several cheeses are grated and combined, then melted together for a unique flavor! Mmm! ...and that toasted, crunchy bread!!! Another employee came over wanted to help and when we started to talk with him a very rude Karen customer barged in and said she was ready. Been visiting Milkfarm for years now - still my fave local cheese shop! Their Cheesemongers are truly knowledgeable and so helpful - I always walk away with some great cheeses - my faves are usually the sheep or goat based cheeses from south France. But their soft ones like Brie are great too! All the info and sentiments in my first review still hold true. Staff are so happy to help and very passionate about the cheeses and the shop. Their selection is impressive in terms of variety, quality, and I especially love how many regions they get cheese from - all over the world. They have a lot of other items too - they do charcuterie boards, they have sandwiches and grill them on site when ordered, they have gift items, jams, desserts, wine, pickles, cold cuts...all sorts of stuff! You could definitely walk away with a decent lunch here. The stop itself is super cute with a great mural on the wall. They have some tables outside for customers. They have events occasionally and even started a monthly cheese club recently! Prices are a little expensive but expected given the quality and the specialty items. MilkFarm is an absolute treasure in Los Angeles! I'm grateful to live near it in Eagle Rock. I've visited a number of other cheese & wine shops across the city but MilkFarm & it's incredible staff always outshine every one else. It has a fabulous selection of rotating & routine cheeses along with all kinds of great accompaniments from crackers, homemade sauces, local veggies, wines, beers, etc. We often pop in for the homemade delicious baguette sandwiches like their HBB & the most incredible grilled cheese ever! Getting one of their famous chocolate chip cookie is always a MUST. They often have local vendor pop ups which are AMAZING so you get the stories & meet the maker of the local products they sell. One of their best offerings is the cheeses of the month club which are carefully curated, seasonal & support small business vendors. We've learned about & tried cheeses that we never would have picked out but love them. It's something we look forward to each month especially the newsletter that comes with it that explains the origin, how to pair & the significance of the cheese. The fact that I've been to Milkfarm twice in less than a month says a lot! This place has quickly won me over. I learned about them via Buzzfeed's Worth it (Hi Steven Lim) and quickly found myself yelping to see where this wonderful heaven was at. Boy was I glad it was near me! Bookmarked it and paid it a visit the very next weekend. The staff is friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable (did you know that there is such a thing as a cheesemonger?! like waaaatt!!) they truly are cheese professionals.. and not only do they know about cheese but they know about wines that could pair with cheese to take you on a blissful ride. At the moment it seems as there is no indoor seating; there is a small handful of small tables for maybe 2-3 people to sit at each one. Milkfarm does have a small and kind note letting guest know that due to this limitation, they encourage you to enjoy your cheese with a small time limit at the tables. The patio is also dog friendly which was perfect for my first visit. The husband and I split a Muffaletta sandwich, toasted and a meat and cheese board along with a canned wine. My second visit consisted of their grilled cheese (so good!), a meat and cheese board (add the baguette and the fig jam.. trust!) along with a perfectly pair white wine bottle that Sam recommended to us. It was a perfect girls day afternoon well spent. The sandwiches are perfection and the cheese is all heavenly.. At the end of the visit, I took a beer to go (which they have a handful selection available along with dry pastas, sauces, and other awesome goodies), a Mr. Parmasean hat that said Spaghetti on it (I regret not getting the Gouda one...) and a cookie to go. This is the kind of specialty store one would more likely to find on the west side or on Melrose. Almost everything is way overpriced. The focaccia bread for the muffuletta was quite hard. The portions for the sandwiches are quite small. The chorizo baguette was about 6 inches and mediocre. The cave-aged Marisa they recommended was basically a fancy version of a humble comte. What I didn't like was the guy who was helping me try to pretend he knew what he was talking about and give me false information. I was looking for some French morbier cheese and he tried to tell me that it had been banned from importing into the US for decades. For years I've gotten it LA. For whatever reason it has become difficult to find lately. However, it's readily available in NYC. I bought some from Brooklyn Fare last week and it was clearly marked imported French Morbier. I just saw Leah Park on the Food Channel and wanted to see what her cheesery was like. I made it a point to visit today and see what makes the restaurant ticks. The actual cheesery has a hip feeling and fits right into Eagle Rock. Most customers are locals and seem to be regular patrons as well. I tested the ready-made sandwiches which were okay, but was expecting more from the cheese sandwich; maybe I needed to put some meat or a different protein inside the sandwich, which was heated on-site. I am utterly and absolutely in love with their chocolate chip cookies and would gladly drive 30 minutes to get my hands on them. It's the best cookie I've ever had.
