My first shopping experience at another bridal salon left me feeling confused and disheartened...but when I walked into Say Yes for Less, I quickly realized that this salon was on a different level. I explained to Pamela all of the elements I was looking for, but I was nervous I wouldn't find the dress that had it all. She listened carefully, and the first I tried on was an absolute hit. It had all the elements I had mentioned, and when I asked to modify the back to make it more modest, Pamela's mother found a beautiful, detailed piece to add to the dress. Lovely runway dresses available for a steal. Walked in and described my wedding and one of the women who owned the store grabbed ~7-10 dresses across several price points, all of which fit me nearly perfectly (she could tell my size by just glancing at me even though I was in a frumpy sweater), and all of which fit with the style I was going for. It's a multigenerational business with mother, daughter, and granddaughter in law all joining to help me find the perfect dress. I was prompted by the stylist I had to leave a review after my first fitting. To be totally honest, I was not impress by either her or the owner. The owner was originally my stylist when I arrived. I wore sweats and a long T-shirt that day, as we were traveling to multiple locations that day, and I wanted to be comfortable. She immediately said, "I can tell you don't like a lot going on." She neither introduced herself nor asked my budget, but asked what style I liked. She pulled 3 dresses which I tried on. (One of which was WAY out of my budget, but it was for "sizing"...who does that?) Another stylist came by to help out. The owner asked, "why are you here?" The other woman responded, "my appointment isn't here yet, so I thought I'd help" (which is extremely kind). Then the owner disappeared, and this other woman became my stylist. I found that to be very disrespectful of the owner. There is some awkward experience as a bride--you stand topless in front of the stylist. This stylist had me take the dress off before she had the next one ready. I stood, half naked, each time as she put the dress I just had on away, and got the next one ready. It made me feel vulnerable and uncomfortable. None of the other salons I went to did this. I had one request-no strapless. I feel as if I have to pull it up all the time, and my fiancé doesn't like strapless. When I mentioned this, she questioned my choices. I told her why, as stated above, and she said "well if it fits well it won't do that." Ok, but that was my fiancé's ONLY request. Which I said. She came back with, "well would you try one on?" I said yes, but I wouldn't buy it. I told her about another dress I tried on that I really liked at another store. (To be honest, I was so uncomfortable, I wanted to end the appointment but I didn't know how.) Immediately she opened up, became much more warm and welcoming. She asked about the other dress, why I liked it, and to see a picture. (Which is odd because Say Yes for Less doesn't allow photos...) It was as if, since the pressure was off, she felt comfortable to be herself. Which makes me sad, because she ended up being pretty nice. I felt judged from the second I walked into Say Yes For Less. My entire party felt the judgement as well, and I think that judgement helped influence my opinions on the dresses. I would have been much more open to ideas had I felt welcome. Also, the stylist bashed BHDLN service before we left. (It was where we were off to next.) I found BHDLN service to be much better than theirs. read more

Say Yes for Less was hands-down the best bridal shop I went to in NOVA. The store has a wide variety of dresses, and they are sorted by both price and size so it's easy to find something in your budget that will fit. Pamela is so great - she didn't pressure me at all to buy anything, and she made great suggestions. I fell in love with the first dress I tried on, but was worried it was too good to be true, and Pamela even held my dress and veil for me for a few hours while I thought about it/checked out a few other places. When I was there, they had a deal where if you bought a dress and veil the veil was 50% off and Pamela also offered me an additional 10% off on my dress, which means I got an amazing Maggie Sottero gown for under $1,000! Also, I visited a few other shops that had sample dresses and they were all worn and used looking, but all of the samples at Say Yes for Less were in great condition and looked brand new. I hated my experience here and walked out. Having called to make an appointment, I expected to be treated with common curtesy. They said I didn't have an appointment and was told to wait. The awful old lady who greeted me yelled out what she though was my size (much bigger than I am, thank you) and made me feel uncomfortable. The owner is beyond rude! They would not stop trying to sell us dresses we were not interested in. Prices are good but that's because many have small holes, make up stains, and the selection is small especially if you want a white dress or are a smaller size. The woman who helped us try on dresses was very nice but again the owner made it a very unpleasant experience. I would definitely reconsidering shopping here. read more

This was one of 3 appointments I scheduled for my dress searching weekend, and the second place I visited. Pamela and her mother were wonderful!!! As soon as I got there and she looked at me she told me exactly what size I would be in bridal and took me to that section. She has so many beautiful dresses to choose from and has everything extremely organized and easy to look through. At the other places, whenever I would try to verbalize why something was just "off" about a dress I tried, they would have a hard time seeing what I was referring to and would at some point say that they just weren't sure exactly what I was looking for. But here, they would immediately be able to explain exactly why I felt something looked "off" (fabric type, style for my body type etc) and pick alternate options to match my body type best. They really understand styles and fit and made the process so much easier for me! And even though I tried on A LOT of dresses, they were extremely patient with me until I was sure I had found the perfect one. To make their job even more difficult, I was even searching for TWO different dresses (reception and wedding) and they helped me narrow my focus for what I was looking for and I found both there in my perfect size and was able to take them home with me! I had a fantastic experience when I bought my dress from Say Yes for Less! My mom and sister came down from NJ for the weekend so we scheduled a marathon shopping day with 3 back to back appointments. At my first appointment at Love Couture Bridal my family sat in a waiting room while a stylist brought me dresses. I found a beautiful dress that was exactly everything I said I wanted, and was $50 below my absolute max dress budget-- before alterations. I was so torn, but decided to keep my appointment at SY4L to give myself more time to think. When we walked into SY4L it was a totally different experience and much more our style. Pamela knew my size just by looking at me in my big winter jacket-- and showed us to a rack of dresses in my size organized by price. I'm average size but pretty tall, so she took away any dresses that would be too small or short, and there was still a huge selection. She told my crew to pick out some dresses and put them in my dressing room and she would be with us when she finished with another client. We each picked 1-2 dresses and I started trying them on with help from Hannelore while they kept shopping. None of these dresses even came close to the first dress I picked out. Before I changed back to look for more dresses Pamela asked which dress I picked out and *why*. I showed her the dress and she sort of disappeared for a while as I tried on more dresses. Pamela came back with a big dress in a bag that every. single. person. who came with me told her not to even bring into the dressing room. She brought it in and I put it on a rack and avoided trying it on because it was NOTHING like what I wanted. I wanted straps, tulle, dainty, no train. simple. light and airy. This dress was silk, layers, strapless. I did not want to try it. I think I tried on every other dress in my size to avoid trying this dress on-- but Pamela convinced me to just try it- she said she based her choice on *why* I had picked the other dress. I put this dress on and the second she zipped it we all knew it was the one. It was like the dress was designed for me and my beautiful garden wedding. It turns out in the time that she had disappeared she took the dress out and removed sequins and beading- over the top details she knew I wouldn't like. She took a huge risk modifying this dress on the chance I would like it and she made it into the PERFECT dress. Once it was on I didn't want to take it off, but I didn't start crying until she told me the price-- it was 1/3 of my dress budget! and about $1000 off retail price. The best part is that it fits so well I hardly need any alterations. Once she knew I was done shopping around she left to help someone else and let me deliberate with my crew with no pressure whatsoever- not that there was much to deliberate! Someone else called her a fairy godmother and that was a perfect descriptor. She won't fawn over you or waste your time with dresses you can't afford or that won't fit perfectly or be easily altered. She sort of swoops in and makes sure that you get exactly what you need, even if it's not what you thought you wanted!! read more

Pamela is incredibly gifted and knows her stuff. They type of dress I "thought" I wanted was drastically different from what would actually look good on me. She let me try on what I thought I was looking for, but then had me try something completely different, and it was absolutely perfect. She knew it and her confidence helped me not be afraid to make a decision. I was trying to figure out jewelry and she helped try a few options but then found the exact perfect thing. She is right on and knows her stuff. While it was a bit out of what I was looking to spend, she let me sit on it and not make a big purchase until I came back for the fitting. I really appreciated her giving me the space to digest the decision and look into what I could realistically do (and honestly, what else was out there) . The reality was what she found was perfect and I couldn't find anything better. They are very efficient so it's not a place to go slow or just browse. Serious shoppers only! Her seamstress worked a miracle in sizing my dress down perfectly with lots of intricate beading and lace. You would never know it was originally 3 sizes too big! read more

I came into Say Yes for Less today after trying on a few dresses I found in a boutique yesterday. I was torn between two dresses I really loved. When I walked into Say Yes for Less, Pamela greeted us. I showed her the picture of the gown I really loved and she was honest and told me she didn't have that dress in her store. She was kind enough to show me similar, beautiful dresses, but I couldn't get the one dress out of my mind. She took the time to tell me what she liked about the dress I showed her and why she thought it was a better fit than the other dress I was also considering. While she knew that I probably wouldn't purchase a dress from her store because I had already found "the dress", Pamela still took the time to talk to me and compare the two dresses. She even called a shop in New York to see if the designer offers a discount at trunk shows. Pamela is not only a professional, but incredibly kind and has an eye for what looks good. Her store also has an impressive collection of beautiful gowns for less. If I hadn't already found the dress in a prior appointment, I am confident that Pamela would have helped me find a beautiful gown and for less! So thankful for Pamela!! I walked in one month before my wedding needing a veil longer than I could find in any store. All other stores turned me away when I described what I was looking for, but Pamela welcomed me in with open arms. Without thinking twice, Pamela offered to make me a custom veil, take it without charge to try on with my dress, pin it at my fitting (which was at a different store where I purchased my dress), and bring it back to her to cut and shape for me. She even guaranteed that if I didn't like it or it didn't match, she would take it back at no cost. The day before picking up my veil, Pamela called to let me know she made me TWO veils because she found two shades of ivory tulle at the store - and I could pick whichever one matched my dress better. The customer service and warmth of this store is wonderful - nothing like the rest of the bridal stores I have visited. Can't say enough positive things about my experience here. I went into wedding dress shopping with the mindset that I would not find anything at all - I'm not a huge fan of bridal dresses, and I couldn't really put to words what it was I was looking for. Say Yes For Less had so many unique options to look through, and you got to look through everything they had on the floor, which was great. I probably tried on 15 or 16 in the store (picked by me, my mom, and my stylist), and while all of the dresses were beautiful, nothing felt right until I put on the last dress on my rack - one I had seen out of the corner of my eye that I didn't really think I'd go for, but was interesting. The second I put it on I knew it was the one, and so did everyone else in the store! It was the perfect mix of being a wedding dress without bridal, and extremely unique (I doubt I'll ever find someone else wearing it) - and to top it off, was 75% off retail price! To be sure, that same day I went to a more standard bridal boutique to try more options, and nothing came close to the dress I found, or my experience at Say Yes For Less. While they had nice options, they were all very standard that I've seen all over Instagram. I went back to Say Yes For Less the next day to get my dress, and haven't looked back since! They also do alterations in-store, and they were perfect after one fitting. Say Yes for Less was my second bridal appointment of the day. I walked in with my mom, sister, and best friend, and was pleasantly greeted by the shop owner, Pamela, her mother, who was helping out in the store, and the seamstress on site. Everyone was super friendly. Pamela then proceeded to show me how the store was organized. The racks were organized by price, by size, and a few sections by style which was very helpful in browsing. I pulled a handful of dresses and began trying them on. There was another group in the shop but Pamela was very attentive and gave personalized attention to each selection that I tried on. She also pulled a few choices and would give her professional opinion for each. She even took dresses away in order to not waste my time once I established certain criteria I wanted within the dress. I ended up saying yes to a $2400 2018 Pronovios gown for $1500 and she also gave 50% off my veil purchase. Pamela certainly put me at ease with my selection and I am very excited to go back to the store for alterations and to see the finished product. read more

I want to preface my review by saying that I realize that if I were serviced by Pamela I probably would have had a better experience. My appointment was at 10am and when I walked in I notice there was no one at the desk so I just sat in the lounge waiting for someone to greet me. Finally I believe the owner's daughter came over and mentioned that my original consultant was busy with another bride and that she would help me. Mind you I mentioned that this was my first time trying dresses. I thought that she might sit down with me and get a better idea of what I was interested maybe even the date of my wedding but I got nothing. She just looked and touched my body and just went off and started pulling dresses and kind of disappeared. She told me to look through there racks to see if I like anything. I asked her how can I tell if a dress is a mermaid/trumpet because all of the dresses were in bags. She ignored me and continued looking for dresses. I finally called over a young woman that seemed like she may be an assistant to see if she could help me. She was more friendly but she really didn't know how to pull dresses either. Once my bridal consultant was done pulling dresses I went to the fitting area to try things on but the entire experience was almost traumatizing. She made me feel very uncomfortable about my body. I asked to take pictures of dresses and she said we don't allow pictures? Then she goes on to say why take pictures of dresses you don't like... Again I want to reiterate this was my first time trying on wedding gowns. Even if I didn't love the dress, it's the experience that counts. I ended up ending my appointment early ( after 20-30 minutes) because I did not like the disinterest. She kept mentioning that I couldn't try on certain dresses because they were not my exact size. I notice someone on here also complained about this from their visit to Say Yes For Less and I wonder if she had the same woman servicing her. Proceed with caution at this bridal boutique. Pamela came by as I was getting ready to leave to see if I would like to stop by after my next appointment and she was very friendly but by then I was so upset I just wanted to run away from that place. I ended up going to two more boutiques in Alexandria,VA and had WONDERFUL experience. I really want to put this experience behind. Best of luck to the other brides out there :) read more

My sister is getting married next year. There are a lot of great bridal shops in this are so she decided to do her dress shopping in the DC Metro/NOVA area. She made an appointment with Say Yes for Less MONTHS in advance and flew in from Nebraska to go wedding dress shopping. My others sisters also came from Alabama with my parents and another family member flew in from Georgia. All of this traveling so they could be part of this joyous and sentimental part of my sisters journey to her wedding day. When we arrived at the shop, it was nonexistent. Literally, not existent! No trace of the store at all. When my sister called to inquire and figure out if we were in the wrong location, she was told that the store had been shut down and a new store would be opening in Potomac in a week. She was told that she should have received an email stating that the store was closed but she did not. In fact, she received a reminder email on 27 April on her appointment the following day. She was offered a 10% discount if she chose a dress at the Potomac location when it opens next month. Obviously, that is not possible because there was a lot of planning put into making sure everyone was here for this occasion. This is horrible! Imagine the excitement and anticipation of looking forward to trying on dresses while surrounded by those who love you; traveling from across to country to try on dresses; meeting up with family from around to country, just to have your entire day ruined because of poor customer service and a store owner that has no regard for the sentiment that is associated with this process. DO NOT GO HERE!!! This area has loads of other wedding dress boutiques, pick somewhere else. We had a great experience at Global Bridal Gallery and my sister found her dress there. read more

The worst! Dresses look shop worn - some are stained, some have missing beading. We went for our 2 pm appointment, but there was no consultant at the desk or to help us. We're were asked to wait for almost 30 minutes. And once they fished someone out of the back, she was not helpful. She would not let us try on every dress we wanted to because she thought they were too big even though you have to take the dresses elsewhere to get them fitted. Pamela turned what could have been a terrible day full around. I'm a larger size and busty, so they have very few choices in my size (16-18). I was feeling defeated, but Pamela understood where I was coming from and what I needed to look for. I've been having a hard time finding a dress due to my shortened timeline (6 month engagement), so Say Yes for Less was PERFECT. My two girlfriends and I came in last Saturday as my first bridal appointment, and we were all very impressed with the number and quality of excellent gowns at reasonable prices.
