My rating is for Lougier and partially for the salon in itself. To give a bit of background, I've lived in San Francisco the last few years and have gone to the same stylist over that time. I look for stylists that are able to cut thick and heavy hair. When I called Scarlet, I asked whether they had someone that could cut Asian hair. They said yes and started looking for an appointment time - a week out - which is totally fine. My first warning sign should have been when they came back and said, oh well we actually have another stylist Lougier and he has availability today and he cuts thick hair. I said fine, as my last haircut was more than 4 months ago as I was travelling. I went in, hoping for the best, and I came out with the worst haircut I've gotten at a professional salon. I had grown my hair out over the last year so I could get a balayage. I told Lougier, I wanted a trim, nothing else- I liked the way my hair was cut before, so please just take a bit off to get rid of some of the heaviness. Lougier took this as an opportunity to butcher my hair. I came out with the bottom layers at least 8 inches longer than my next layer. The worst part was that he kept trying to convince me that it was layered - it wasn't. I'm not an expert by any means, but visually it was all wrong. He gave me a straight shelf. To add to the unpleasantness, my wet hair was in my face the entire time. He only bothered to ask me how I part my hair half way through the cut and even then I asked him to fix it as it looked terrible. His excuse? "I gave you a bump in the back that's why." That's not why. It was because he doesn't know how to cut layered hair or women's hair for that matter. He also used extremely blunt scissors to 'thin' my hair out after I asked him why I had a huge chunk of hair on my right side. Oh yeah, he also gave me bangs - which I didn't want. He provided zero guidance. I highly recommend that you either go to another stylist at Scarlet or go to another salon as I'm sure the ratings are completely in vain. I've had my hair fixed at Luxe and it's better, but I will have to wait to grow it out - especially the unwanted bangs. Also, my right side is more damaged than my left - even though I told him that I part my hair down the middle. I did get a refund -- however, the salon did not even offer to fix my hair or attempt to compensate me for the cost of ubering over there, the time spent there, and the damaged hair I have to live with until it finally grows out and the poor quality service I received by the original receptionists that had booked my appointment. I highly recommend reading Lougier's only other rating on Yelp to provide a better picture that he does not know how to cut or style women's hair!!! read more

A co-worker has beautiful hair so when my stylist moved sooner than expected and another salon canceled on me unexpectedly (it happens, no bad feelings) I booked online with Charlee. Right after I booked a very nice gentleman called to get more info to make sure I booked what I needed (in a very nice way, asked hair length, condition, what I really need: I NEED THIS HORRIBLE GRAY COVERED) and that was that. I received a reminder and confirmation more than 24 hrs Bf which I think is very considerate. There is street parking but also a lot right across the way, it's reasonable, it's Denver, it's just something you have to accept. So I walk in and they were busy but I was greeted very warmly and sat down. I loved the design of the salon as it was very urban with some very classy touches, still felt friendly. I was sitting less than 3 mins and Charlee walked up and introduced herself, super friendly, stylish and just puts you at ease. I had messed up my roots trying to cover the gray with colored conditioner that was suppose to be temporary. It wasn't, my own fault and part of my hair was looking red, I'm a dark brunette ideally. She explained it to me and educated me about the product I used, not being judgy but very helpful. She managed to cover my gray, blend my mistake and I'm super happy, she did a great job and I am 1000% it will just get better as it grows out. She's amazing, talented, super educated, stylish and just a very warm put you at ease type of person. I'd recommend her to anyone and I know they would not be disappointed. So looking forward to my next visit. And I was really concerned I wouldn't find someone I would be as comfortable with as my last stylist. Checking out was great and I booked my next appointment. I recommend The salon and Charlee with no reservations and highly encourage you to give them a try if you are looking for a new hair home! Although I liked my partial highlights, root touch up, and haircut, the price was ridiculously high - $224!!! I went to an award winning salon in Anaheim, CA before I moved to Denver. The exact same service was $145. The $224 did NOT include the tip. Unfortunately, I will not be back. I am going to a salon that has appropriate pricing. read more

I went in for a hair cut/trim. Very minimal work needed to be done. The woman who cut my hair was super friendly and did a great job, but I was charged $70! I just thought that was absolutely outrageous for a simple shampoo and trim. Definitely won't be back for that reason. read more

I came to Oz in a panic, having just dyed my hair for the first time at a different salon. Before my appointment, I had streaky platinum blonde next to dark brown. In just a couple hours, Oz was able to transform my hair into a blended blonde with a shadow root that looked even better than the inspiration photo I showed her. She gave me the best color, that took the least amount of time, cost the least amount of money, and did the least amount of damage to my hair, AND she added layers and gave me a trim as well. But I have to say.....Shannon Williams is a hairstyling goddess! She knows EXACTLY what I want and what is best for my hair. Maria is amazing! She is one of those stylists who totally gets style which surprisingly can be hard to find. Not to mention she is totally adorable and you are actually sad to leave her chair at the end of your appointment. The interior is charming as is the location in LoHi. It's a fairly large salon, but you still feel like you get personal service and there is definitely an attention to detail. I always love my hair so much, I make sure that I have a night out planned or at least happy hour at Lola so I can show off my new do. The service, the ambiance and the stylists all make this place top notch! A helpful hint: Know your stylist. Many of them are not morning people, so if you want to get them at their best, do not be their first or second appointment of the day...nor the last, when they are ready to go. I called and asked for a stylist who specializes in wavy hair, but instead was given the newest employee who was less than two weeks into the job. She cut some side-swept bangs a little too short and right where I have a cowlick (which I did point out in the beginning) so I'm waiting anxiously for those to grow out. After trying 3 other places that couldn't take a walk-in, I found Scarlet, whose friendly staff was able to get me in within a half hour. My stylist was Linson, and I'm ready to kidnap him and take him back to NY as my new hair stylist...he was awesome. He listened to what I needed, was friendly and sociable, as well as passionate and intense about his work.
